Hi all, please don't start havin a go at me cos I'm in a situation that after I choose one, I have to stick with.
Ok here goes, I currently have a galaxy s2 which I got 3 weeks ago on a 2 year contract.
Although I'm happy overall with the phone, I really miss sense and some other stuff that htc offer.
Before my galaxy s2 I had a desire hd and was really happy with it.
Now...my girlfriend gets her upgrade in 2 weeks but she is willing to let me have it just as long as I sell this phone.
Now what I'm askin is, is it worth the jump from the galaxy s2 to the sensation??
I've read reviews and I even lurk on this part of the forum just to see how the device is doing.
A few things I've read have concered me like dust under screen, heavy lag, poor driver quality hence phone not as fast as say for example the galaxy s2.
Now I don't mind it not being as fast cos I'm an avid rommer and I'm sure custom roms will come out to speed it up right??
Just asking for a bit of Honest advice really, I know I'm in the sensation forum but would like people to have an honest answer and either say yeah its a good phone jump over or say no its not a good idea.
I'm askin u guys cos I haven't actually had a chance to play with the sensation yet and as I said earlier, once I choose, I've got it for 2 years.
Please help.
Oh sorry bout the post I've seen these type of posts before but I really do need ur advice.
Thanks guys.

If your main issue is with sense not being there then you'd probably like the sensation more. I really don't like most of sense to be honest. Sense feels so bloated. (Waiting for cyanogenmod and i'm going to upgrade in 5months anyways).
I think they're both great devices, if you aren't happy with the gs2 maybe you should go test out a sensation?
Not a huge fan of sense either but it's a great phone and there are already some great roms around. In fact I'm finding the Leedroid and adw launcher ex combo so silky I can easily wait as long as necessary for Cyanogenmod.

Man im willing to trade my sensation for your galaxy s 2 lol. It depends what you're looking for. Every review says the galaxy s 2 is the best phone but that doesn't mean the sensation isn't good. It's a very good phone, it does lag tho because sense is heavy and it's a memory hog. I'm not into rooting cause I have no idea how to do so but if that's your thing and you wanna install ROMs on it than give it a try. But I think you should keep you SGS2 just in case. Me personally I would go with the S2
Its good news for HTC that users love sense so much
Have both the sgs2 and sensation...first time using sense and I definitely like the eye candy stuff, and build quality feels nice to hold it in hand. I don't care much about sense bloatware since I use sgs2 if I need fast performance or cm7. My main point of buying sensation was for sense

I like Sense quite a bit myself....but I hope that the next update takes the bloat down a notch. All that eye candy comes at quite a noticeable price...
Reminds me of when I had to 'upgrade' my old PC from Windows 98SE to Windows ME.....shudder...
I tend to get jealous of SGSII users who have their Super Amoled screen and massive internal storage. Touch Wiz also seems to have matured a lot since I last played with it. However, the grass is always greener on the other side. I'm positive I would envy Sensation owners if I had the SGSII.
That being said, I love sense a lot and it makes my daily activities very easy to accomplish. Build quality on the phone is the best I've ever handled. Simply, it's a beast of a phone especially after using these optimized roms in the dev section. The biggest problem with the phone is the wifi deathgrip. Also the speaker is the as loud as it could be. Other than that, this is the perfect phone for me.
Definetly get it you think sense is right for you. Just be aware that you are settling for inferior (though not by much) hardware.
Short and sweet but....
I went from sgs2 to sensation and I'm happy overall. Yea it lags from time to time and its not the pure numbers animal that the sgs2 is but I enjoy the battery life, qhd, and build quality of the sensation over the sgs2. Also, sense is much better than touchwiz. With the current cm7 builds for sgs2 the sensation still has better battery life with sense and all the syncing going on. Even vs stock sgs2 rom.
Sent from my HTC-Z710a using Tapatalk
i would have suggested the evo 3d since the sense on it is smoother while the sensation is known to be buggy. That being said my sensation doesn't have any problems at the moment.
Thanks for the replies everyone, yeah the main points I'm happy with the galaxy s2 is the screen, camera and speed.
Other than that, I'm not a fan of much else, don't really like touchwiz and also the screen isn't fluid, mine stutters and its a known problem, there is a fix though.
Also no notification light is a bummer as well.
I think u guys have convinced me to jump over ;-).

Well I have a g2x atm, and let me tell you if when had more support from lg this phone would be on the top of the list but back to reality lol; I'm looking into getting a new phone and I'm stuck on the htc sensation and the the nexus s for t-mobile, now I need some help on this decision. How's the stock roms? Battery? Like just some feedback from you owners. Thank you for anyone who responds

Take a look in sensation android development and see roms support urself
There are lot of roms available for sensation and sensation having dual core processor as compared to nexus single core ,cam of sensation is also nice....8mpx ....
Sensation is definitely more powerful than nexus s.
Stock battery is 1520 mah and backup is gud not xcellent lol.
Sensation also support mhl hdmi support ,go for sensation its better than nexus s.

Well that would first depend on two main topics; whether you want HTC Sense or Vanilla Android.
The Nexus S's stock ROM is smooth, elegant, quick and stable because well it's pure Android.
The Sensation is a power house of hardware, HTC Sense has a lot of customization yet the stock ROM is sorta laggy here and there. However, if you root it, there are AMAZING Sense ROMs out there for you to flash it.
I went with the Sensation because it has a better processor, camera, more RAM, and it just looked awesome to me!
hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions!
Personally, I would wait a month or 3, as new phoens will be released. The Sensation is now a relatively old device, and HTC will be releasing some new ones in the coming few months
The Sensation is fantastic, I love mine, but it's "standard" with specs....nothing is outstanding.
Thanks guys your really helping me, when I make a list of pros and cons for both phones this is what I get
Sensation pros
4g
Dual core
8mp
Under t-mobile so I can always report my phone lost
Cons
I hear that battery isn't great
And I hear a lot of bad about the Prosser
And the stock roms which I would really like some feedback on it because I love both sense and stock so if I could flash either and they would work fine I would be so much in love with this phone lol
Nexus s pros
Updates lol
Super almoled screen
Cons
5mp
3g
Not under t- mobile
Single core
And this doesn't matter so much about waiting for a new phone I'm due for an upgrade in July and I'm not trying to waste an upgrade on a phone that isn't going to get love lol im going to use the upgrade when I see the phone having great development

Id go this route unless you insist on having a rooted phone with minimal wait time for development. The downside of being first to get a new phone is WAITING for anything to be done with it.
If it were me, Id stick with a rooted g2x and wait for something better to pop up. ICS is out and about and I am sure that any new phone that has good hardware will wind up being great with the addition of ICS.

Then he'll be waiting forever because there will always be new phones. Seriously though, While the Nexus S is smooth, ICS will make this phone one of the best available. The latest leaks are already butter 90% of the time, and they're just leaks.
I gave my sensation to my girl and got the sgs 2,
I thought the sgs2 would have some good development going on but its more drama, the phone has awesome battery live, but not a concrete date for ics, not to mention that they also made xboarder, a great developer be banned from the forums, but i miss flashing ROMS here guys, perhaps this topic may seem absurd and not appealing to some, but the point is that i need a little feedback to make my session, I also hope this may help others that may be thinking on jumping boats, also my subject has nothing to do with ui or other issues with manufacturers, this is all about rom choices and community feedback, thanks in advanced
Don't feed the trolls.
I had an Amaze for a while, and I will say the first thing I missed was the Sensation community here on XDA.
I mean if you said the wrong thing over there or brought something up that was considered 'taboo' like lack of development, or opened a thread that had been answered before, but you didn't properly search, the mods would, depending on what it was, lock up the thread and possibly issue you a warning.
I think Mike's Rom thread got locked up because he had a falling out with the Mod. I also remember the Dev you mentioned one day locked up all his threads as a warning to all to stop asking him for ETA's and endless 'noob' questions.
Stuff like that doesn't happen here on the Sensation forums.
For me it was just too much drama over there. The Amaze is a great phone and I do wonder what it would be like if it was an international phone and S-off was achieved. I think the community for it would be much different.
Just my personal viewpoint on it.

Honestly, if you want ROM choices then a GS2 does look like a better option.
Wasn't ICS meant to come in March for the GS2?
Sure. Come on back.

Its coming out in march for the sensation as well.
I'm in a similar situation .. my wife and I got the sensations then I upgraded to sgs2 .. jz got the phone for less then 3 days then I let her play with it .. and the next thing i know her sim was in it and either that or I cook my own dinner (so you know how it turned out.
Anyway, the only thing I liked was the hardware .. screen size, amoled, 1.5ghz', internal storage, battery .. and that's it! And I hated that touchwiz so so much that I bought spb for cover up. And yes, the only guy that can bring ics is banned and criticized .. right now theres no word on ics update for Sammy t989 .. only att in march if I'm not mistaken.
Though it irritated me with wifi death grip on sensation and poor battery life on stock rom. So how did u like the sgs2?

I came from a SGS2...at first I hated the sensation because it felt a lot different and my modded SGS2 was insanely fast and stable and had tons of memory.
I've now rooted and s-off my sensation...oc'd to 1800+...and running Elagancia ICS and freaking love this phone now!
The community here and the development is sooooo much better than over at the SGS2 side.
I don't regret moving over to the Sensation at all.

On top of it, what battery is being used here?
It's super smooth....buy since I really don't need it that high all the time....I clock back down to 1720+ using the latest 1.30 kernel (whatever the newest one is)
I'm using a anker battery that came with the phone when I got it from someone else.
I get great battery life...and I'm a heavy user. GPS always on...BT always on....screen brightness moderate...always data or WiFi...I tether for my wife's iPhone too

Same story buddy, those are exactly the only aspects I like about sgs2 yet I think qhd seems better than samoled that at points yeah its bright yet in times fonts and some good walpapers loom cheap, being a Samsung device I assumed it was gonna have ics but I guessed wrong at least for Tmobile version, nope, sensation is ahead of the game, by miles with different builds, I still have some hope by the end of this month, if we dont get any ics, am snatching my sensation back from my girl, there may be even a newer build for it by then

I think this thread has answered my questions for me,S2 forums seem to have stagnated at the moment, nothing new and interesting seems to be coming out any more and there so many people repeating themselves on there youde think your in a parrot farm,s2 is like a rocket but its plastic and for an audiophile like myself, sound quility is a bit of letdown,i like s2 but i dont think they like me,my 3rd one has now broke so its time to look elsewhere and its be between sensation xe or evo 3d.i think the xe is winning me over not just as a device but the variety of development within the community
Hey guys, Just letting you all know I will be ditching the One S tomorrow... I've got the Galaxy Note.
I know your thinking ''WTF?!?!?!'' But i had so many issues with the One S (signal related) it was driving me mad, I was offered the S3 (at a hefty price) or the Note, for free, So I took it.
When I first saw the Note I thought ''OMG Thats Hideous, Its waaaay too big'' But the more I saw it, the more I liked it !
My other contract is up soon so I will get the SGS3 then.
So thanks to every one who helped me since day one, I will be moving on to the Note forums as of tomorrow
I will still keep my Help Thread updated as much as possible, And will continue to help as and when I can.
Take care & good bye

.3mp vs 2.0mp front camera isn't useful too?
NFC, No-NFC? TouchWiz, Sense? LTE, No-LTE...
The GSIII and the One XL have little to differenciate, but we are talking about the One S here.
There's a huge difference but its value depends on the user and options.

hey azzledazzle,
i really appreciated the way you where getting on top of the issue with the virtual button mess, really liked your input. i counted you in for one who's pushing the issue further with HTC.
So, i find it a bit hard that you "gave up" on it but totally understandable on the other side. My One S is literally doing my head in (wife threw it at me in anger) with that perfectly unusable state its in. It sits there, playing with its screen and buttons just like its gotten its own mind but i cant make it do anything else most of the time.
So if it was like that for you, i can only repeat myself: i do understand. Still i find it a bit sad.
my opinion on the note: am working on it for my brother and i find it disappointing. Samsungs surface is stupid, KIES is like having one leg amputated, cant really go anywhere with that code, the phone hides anyones head while at it (just for the lolz of it), its too big. seriously.
And as a tablet, its too small. But as i said, my opinion
Good luck on your new adventures mister Azzle!
Hey mate,
Have fun with the Note, its been my primary device for 7 months now. Its a great phone. After a while its size becomes normal.
As for the comments above, i find it a perfect size, its like having a tab on you at all times. My only gripe is touchwiz, i do prefer sense.
Peace!

I can't say as I blame you. I getting pretty sick of my One S. Brilliant phone except it has next door to useless signal reception. It spends 3 to 4 hours a day without signal - which irritates when I know signal is good. What to replace with I dunno but this issue is likely to sicken me off HTC. Won't be the Note though as far too big for me
Galaxy nexus
Same here. After two months I am getting rid of it for Galaxy nexus $349 from the play store. We have minimal support for this device. Thanks to cm9 devs anyways.
It make no good to have powerfull phone that cannot multitask or have no completed custom ROM. And now Jelly Bean. By the time ONE S gets JB Google will announce next nexus probably this fall with KEY LIME 5.0
Better have slightly outdated hardware that prrobably will not be much noticable and have up to date software, vanilla or custom ROM with no issues.
And HTC and their delayed kernel source release. SIII released it before device was on the market. That how you get developers love.
I really wanted to love this phone, but yesterday I had a chance to exchange it for a new one in the box to see if it fixed my signal/wifi issues or get the Galaxy S3. Every smartphone I have owned has been HTC so I was nervous, but I opted for the S3 and all I can say is wow. It's an awesome phone and completely blows the One S out of the water for my needs.
I knew going into the the One S I would be making concessions on things I wanted such as an SD card slot and removable battery. Its a super sexy phone, but if you can't use it as a phone it does me no good, too many dropped/missed calls and poor wifi. I hope they do fix the signal issues for those who keep it and I'm glad some people were experiencing no problems.
HTC really needs to up their game on the next round of phones, I gave them extensive feedback online and they even called to follow up, which was nice. I told them I have owned a G1, MT3GS, G2, MT4GS and One S and enjoyed them all with the exception of the OS. I did have a seperate issue with them concerning the MT4GS and replacement parts that irritated me as well.
Best of luck to you all and thank you for all the help and resources from this forum!
Hey all! My Incredible S just died on me and I've been offered a sensation for $200 to replace it. Is the sensation a good phone to switch to? I was wondering about things like battery life (sucked on inc s) and amount of roms available. Also how long do you think htc will be updating the sensation?
Thanks for any input you have!
It's an awesome phone.I believe we will see Jellybean 4.1 for the sensation around October maybe even earlier.and $200 is a good deal.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA
$200 isn't bad, I enjoy my sensation but would love to have the SGS III or the One X instead... we've pretty much reached our limit for updates so don't expect too much more from that. You're wanting to buy a phone a or year or so old... it's OLD now. Don't expect too much. Battery life is amazing for some such as myself. I can go 2 days (I also used to have an Incredible S -- You'll notice the awesome difference with resolution as well) without recharging using the new Sense 4 roms OR 3.6. I don't know what happened but in ICS my battery is incredible. I just hate the fact that I have a little bit of dust under screen... aside from that no complaints!
Ill be honest ..
Great phone great dev support worst battery life ever ! Simple as that...
However you can get an extended battery "anker" 1900mah it helps quite alot for 25$
