[Q] What size SIM card? Micro or Nano? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can anyone who has actually received a Nexus 5 confirm the size of the SIM card and whether it is Micro or Nano sized?
Please don't speculate, I'd really like to hear the absolute facts. I need to know whether to order a nano-size SIM cutter ASAP because my carrier doesn't offer nano size.
Thanks!

I believe it's micro, because the only phones I'm aware that use the nano sim is the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5S

It is a micro Sim confirmed many times on here.

Same as the one x

It's Micro Sim.

its micro sim just as what everybody else said.

Ok thanks folks, I'll go with Micro, which means I don't need to order a cutter.
But just as a side note, I was hoping to hear it from someone with an actual phone in their hand. I know it's been posted before (that it was Micro) but I've never heard an actual first hand account.

Moto X has a nano as well

according to the google support page on installing the sim card. (here)
Before you start using your phone, you may need to insert a micro SIM card. If no card is installed, the message “No SIM card” appears on the phone’s lock screen.

I would be curious to hear how you guys are using this. I am carrying 2 phones, one work and one personal. Exchange on work phone. It would be nice to just carry one phone and maybe use GV for work messages.

I think the only option you have for both active is something like the Gmate or Socblue devices i've read about. They sell them on the same website but i've not used one myself

yeah S4 Chinese version is dual sim, perfect choice for 2 sim active
Absolutely, get the i9502, FTW!!!
this looks crazy awesome
Why would you go through the trouble of posting this video and asking for subscriptions when you do nothing to explain this is depth? Is the software on the phone already set up for this? How does the messaging app handle it? Is there any setup required?
do your phone have to be rooted or not to use it
I have this, 2 sim active, the only problem is it will only support GSM, data is usable, but you need to root or jailbreak for data, gmate promised a 3G version, but this was over a year ago.

Also if people are after a dual sim adapter, instead of paying the high price for the magicsim, go to ebay and get a iphone 4 or iphone 5 version for about 5-7USD, these will also work for android phone, I'm using one right now, no root is needed and supports data.
details on using it, when the dual sim adapter is connected, a icon will show up in the menu, this menu allows you to switch sim.
This is on my note 2, but all android will work.

I pass this on to friend that need this exactly. No fast data just 2 line's on one phone.

But the question is, could you use both phones at the same time with the dual sim adapter. How it works? How the phone discriminates both?

did you have to trim your sim card to fit the cards. does one card with adapter go in reg slaot and the other into extension or do both go into extension. will the extra stuff with sim inserted into sim slot damage sim slot on phone. looking at this and triple sim adapter for s4 and n3
For the adapter the main sim is the microsim that goes into the phone with one end of the adapter which goes under the microsim, the other end supports a full size sim, I actually have the ipnone 5 version so the size is slightly smaller, you should get the iphone 4 version, the fit into the sim slot on the phone will fit without any problem, as most sim sockets are made slightly thicker, about 0.1-2mm, as sim cards vary in thickness due to manufacture process.
As long as you have one microsim and one full size sim, you are ok, you do not need to alter it in anyway, if you do have different size sims like me, as shown in the photo's you can use sim adapters, data will work with either sim.
The photo's show some close shots of the adapter, even with the adapter in the slot, it is slightly loose, so I have used double sided tape as shown in the photo.
Triple sim
Dual sim
Triple sim, this one has been posted earlier, but opened.

Which SIM adapter should I get?

A word of caution ...just sharing from my mistake...
I bought a sim adapter same as you to use in my rooted m7 ....I thought I would be smart and store the sim adapter inside the m7 tray with no sim, for safe keeping.. Big mistake ...the pins inside lock the adapter inside...I did finally get the tray out, but it took some doing and luck..no damage...
Anyway just a thought to save someone else aggravation.

I leave mine in the DNA SIM tray (with no SIM card) without issue. It opens using that HTC pin thingie they give you very smoothly.
I've read reviews for some SIM adapters that get jammed like that but the reviews for this one were very good and from my use I'd back those reviews.
i have the same one, little pricey for what it is but it works.

D850 + SIM Card Adapters

I have a Noosy and a SAdapter nano to micro sim card convertor kits arriving USPS tomorrow.
Has anyone tried these with an AT&T G3?
No but I don't see why they wouldn't work
Sent from my LG-D850 using Tapatalk 2
Im using one. nano sim from iPhone 5s and an adaptor.. works fine.. you just won't be able to use ISIS. That requires a secure sim, the one a step up in size..

there are some mods out there for isis to disable it's, issues, if that's important to you
Both worked flawlessly. The Noosy might be the better product. The top side of the converter is sealed in clear plastic. Both could be a viable solution...neither had issue ejecting either.

Question for Sprint Nexus 5 Owners

Hi, I'm looking for a new phone, and the Nexus 5 is the top of my list. I currently need a sim card slot, since Immix is my provider. Does the Sprint Nexus 5 have a SIM card slot? I've tried googling, but my results varied a lot.
Thanks!

There is no "sprint" nexus 5. There are only 2 Nexus 5 models. D820 (North America) amd D821 (rest of the world) and they both have sim card slots. Sprint simply sell the D820.
Oh okay, that makes sense then. So there's no sim lock? Like you can use any carrier? If so, sweet!

yes, can use on any US carrier but Verizon. can use it on atr then pop in a tmo or sprint Sim and use it there. there's no such thing as a sim lock for a nexus.

Question for the non T-Mobile 8T+ owners

Does the dual sim slot also work as a micro sd card slot? I know some dual sim phones have added this support to the second sim slot where the phone itself didn't have a dedicated micro sd slot.

No, it doesn't. And the tmo variant is the same after converting to EU firmware. Second sim slot included.

I know, but the sim card trey doesn't look like it holds 2 sims. That's why I was asking. I'm going to convert but was hoping I could use a sim card if I were to get a replacement tray.

Yes, the 7t pro sim tray works but isnt flush. You could also try the 8 sim tray. The second slot will work but the device is dual standby so if your making a call from one you cant use data or anything with the other at the same time. You also only have one imei which is assigned to both slots.
