Dear All
I have tried searching so don't torch me if I've missed something. Just give me the link.
We have a question from where I work whether it is possible to access the contacts when the phone is locked, i.e. we activate the phone and it asks for the 4 digit pin then if we press the green talk key we get to the phone but if we then press contacts it then asks for the password again.
Is there a way to change this ? If not fine.
Thanks and regards
Phil
Hello,
The exchange password policy was pushed to my phone after setting up my work e-mail. This is fine and does not bother me. I am having trouble figuring out how to enable the lock feature before the timeout period so that I can lock my phone whenever I want vs. waiting for the timeout period.
I have gone to settings and lock and it does lock the keys but does not require my password to unlock the phone. Is this how it is supposed to behave? Any idea on how I can lock the phone on demand to password protect my device?
Thank you all.
not sure what version you have but the Verizon Wireless TP2 when lock is enabled under Settings Tab/All Settings/Personal Tab/Lock, it has Lock as the right softkey on the main screen.
I have the sprint version and when i go to Settings Tab/All Settings/Personal Tab/Lock the phone goes into lock mode and has the keypad displayed for me to enter the password. The issue is though that I don't need to enter my password to unlock the phone. As long as I hit the unlock soft key on the bottom left hand side the phone unlocks itself. I believe it should require me to input my password and then hit unlock.
Just an fyi I do have a password setup on my phone and it does work as I expect it to when the phone times out after 15 minutes and locks itself automatically. I just want to be able to do this without waiting.
if u go to all setting, personal, buttons, then end key, you can choose to display a quick list by holding the end key where you can select to lock the phone or just lock the phone by holding the end key.
Thank you! That worked and it is prompting me for the password to unlock the phone just as I needed.
glad 2 help
Hi,
I have the latest Fresh ROM on my hero, and setup a pattern unlock screen.
when I wake my phone up I either have to slide the time down, or hit the menu button before enter the pattern to unlock the phone.
Now this is kinda a pain, is their a way to skip the menu/slide part, so when I wake up the phone I just can enter the pattern?
Thanks

you could delete the lockscreeen. i remember reading a post that showed you how to delete it. search for it. im sure u will find it
rm /system/app/HtcLockScreen.apk
Well I tried removing HtcLockScreen.apk
and it now loads up the android lock screen.
I'm looking for a tweak to remove the whole thing completely and the phone not ask for it. is this possible?
I know its not a windows phone (thats what i just left behind) but I guess what im looking for is somethign like a registry hack to remove it, if their is such a thing.

sorry, i must have misunderstood your question..
from what i've read the menu menu is built into android. all android phones.. we need the source to change that.
here are a few links just from the CDMA forums... i searched "menu unlock"
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=584343&highlight=menu+unlock
this one is three pages long...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=582315&highlight=menu+unlock
p.s. you know you can just press menu to wake the phone up right?
just double-tap menu its much faster that way.
There has gotta be a way to mod the apk for lockbot to just disable the lock screen altogether but allow the pattern lock.... just a thought.
This shouldn't be a cdma specific issue, any sense Rom should have this. You could try posting elsewhere on this site, android apps, hero apps hero Rom development, or even other Android sites, modaco, android.org, maybe post on flipz site.. just a thought
As the title suggests, I know CM ROMs have this option to quickly unlock after entering PIN without the need to press OK. Is it possible to implement this MOD on any ROM as a default option? I hate to press OK everytime after entering the PIN.
Thanks!
quick pin unlock
I agree. I'm on touchwiz Note 2
Hello,
I have a Samsung S6 with android 7.0 running on it. (latest stock firmware) The screen got cracked this week and the digitizer and OLED are not working anymore.
I've got some 2 FA keys in google authenticator that i did not backup. Now i know that i have to keep the QR code safely... but that is too late in this case. I don't want to buy a new screen...
I did manage to get a full backup of my phone by attaching a keyboard with an OTG cable. but this will not recover the 2FA keys in Google Authenticator.
How you can unlock your phone with a keyboard:
1. attach a keyboard with an OTG cable.
2. press the 'esc' button' and 'backspace' button
3. insert your password and press enter. You should hear the unlock sound. (you can unlock with the fingerpint from now on, if it was set)
I did activate developer options before but i disabled it when i'm not using it. So i have to activate it again.
I think i can enable Developer mode blindly by following these steps. The phone needs to be unlocked.
1. typ one letter. This will bring up google search. press backspace and delete (just to be sure it is blank). Now type 'Settings'
2. Press the down key once
3. Press enter
4. press the down key for 10 seconds (this should focus the item on the last option in the list, which is 'developer mode' )
5. press enter
6. press up once
7. press right once
8. enter
developer options should now be enabled.not sure how i can check this tho. I checked if my computer can find my phone. I can access the internal memory because the phone is unlocked.
i asume developer options is enabled... The next step is re-activating debugging mode in order to mirror the screen. But 'adb devices' does not show any device yet. This means 'debugging mode' is still deactivated.
So i'm trying to enable 'Debugging mode' within the 'developer options'.
I searched on youtube to see how the menu looks like in Android 7 on a S6 so i can figure out how many keys i need to press in order to re-activate USB debugging. But i seem to be stuck on this step.
My question: can somebody make screenshots or a video from a samsung S6 (with android 7.0) device with a keyboard attached that shows how many key presses are needed to activate USB debugging?
When i'm in the developer options menu i think i have to press 9 times down, hit enter, then press the right key once and then hit enter again.
Can someone confirm that this is correct?
The RSA keys for my pc were already accepted previously. so that should not be an issue. unless i hit the 'revoke keys' options by accident... (i hope not!)
if anyone knows an other way to activate USB debugging without erasing the whole phone, please tell me. I need access to my 2FA keys. :crying:
edit:
i'm not sure if the steps to enable Developer mode are working. I'm reproducing the steps on an old S5 phone. I now realize that there are internet suggestions when typing "Settings' on the S5 model. I need to press 4x down then enter. hmmm... These suggestions only pops up when wifi is enabled. I can ping my S6 phone. So WiFi is enabled on my broken s6.

It would be awesome if someone can record a video that shows me (and potentially others) how to install and run 'SideSync' through keystrokes. on an S6 with android 7.0. SideSync can then mirror and control the screen on a pc..
I'm going to try this blindly for now... fingers crossed
edit2: it seems that SideSync needs a code that is shown on the S6 screen. damn it. Searching for other solutions...
Kind Regards,
Vincent
