Thanks Aggror, I did that, but for some reason they still won't show. To set any of these, I had to open them in SE File Explorer use the "Set as Ringtone/Notification sound" option.

They should. They did properly in mine. Dunno what's the problem.
Wait....are these files flashable? Or do I have to extract them?

Also can someone give file location for notification sounds and for ringtones in kitkat 4.4.2
Where can I copy the sounds to. I can't find the notifications folder for sounds on the phone.
Thanks

is there a way to use custom alert sounds?
i have a WAV file i've used on every phone i've ever had.
I don't know about the file type, but you can make a folder named notifications and put your file in there. If the file type works, it should pop up

In this post: http://www.androidforums.com/t-mobile-g1/1757-can-you-set-music-youve-uploaded-ringtone-texts.html They claim that if you add a folder called "notifications" on the root of your device, then any supported media file will be available to select. Try this and let us know if it works, sounds interesting.
that was exactly it.
put the notifications folder in /sdcard/ and it shows up in the list of notifications
awesome. thanks!

In my experience, Android always ignored the Ringtones and Notifications folders as music. Maybe you just need to refresh Google Music. Go into the setting and try syncing it

Most of them are mp3 or wav. Just tried ogg to no avail. I moved them all back to ringtones from notifications and it actually shows more now...

if you have root, move them to /system/media/
Create a empty file with name ".nomedia" in the same folder as ringtones. It will be not shown in play music

no no.. dont just stick them into /system/media/, put them in the right category(ringtones, notifications, alarms..) within /system/media/.

To be more specific, its system/media/audio/notifications and system/media/audio/ringtones. And if you put them in there, I believe they NEED to be .ogg files. Change the permissions to match the others in those folders and reboot.
That is the ticket. Change the permissions.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Premium App
I just go into play music and select "not interested" on the ringtones, and it takes them right out.
Is there any way to set the sound of the alarm clock to a custom mp3?
I've transfered a song from my Galaxy S6 to the Gear S3 and tried to set up the mp3 as the sound for the alarm but it didn't worked!

There is an app on the market for $1 that lets you put costome ringtones
And whats the name of this app?
This is it just in the search
Custom Ringtone for all Gear S3 models and Gear S2 3G/LTE.
Guide:
1. Install the phone side app.
2. Kill the gear app if it is minimized.
3. Tap the first button inside the phone side app.
4. If connects successfully, you will see the waiting for file screen on the watch.
5. Pick the mp3 file on your phone.
6. Transfer complete. You can swipe to the right to set it as ringtone. Swipe to the left to delete unwanted files.
Okay, thanks!
Alarm Clock
Hi,
I bought this app, but it doesn't work for the Alarm clock!
Any suggestion?

Yes I did found a way and set it to a Metal Gear Solid call ringtone. It's in the app on your phone.

Should be in a folder called music as shown in the latest picture. But that difference comes with each phone or file manager
Another thread that goes on for pages without answering the question:
This is not about sending an mp3 file to your watch or setting a RINGTONE. Both are options readily available on the app menu.
This is rather about ALARM. Setting a custom mp3 sound for the alarm on the watch.
When it comes to alarm sound and I am repeating alarm here a couple of times, there are no Alarm custom sounds aside from the Samsung ones.
How does one get custom mp3 for the.....Alarm.
Is somebody able to identify paths for Alarm sound in Firmware Files?
I mean by unpacking Odin files and search...
Thanx in advance.
Best Regards
Edit 1.
Short looked into rootfs.img from CQL1...
*.mp3
Only 3 or 5 files...
But if I search for *.ogg... then many files...
Path seems:
Code:
/usr/share/feedback
Hi all.
I am using Messenger for Facebook chat. Problem that I have is notification sound. I can't turn it off. I have put all options into Silent, however whenever I get any message, it plays sound.
Has anyone got the same issue?
Hello,
Download the attachment and extract the mp3 from the zip file. Put the mp3 file in the notifications folder from the internal memory of the phone.
Go to facebook messenger app -> notifications and sound and select silence as a notification sound.
Good luck

There is a folder "Notifications" in root of your phone
Put it there then follow upper guide. Basically you are choosing sound this sound instead default one. This is notification without sound so it is quiet.
Unfortunately I don't have this folder. I'm using a Huawei p40 pro with latest emui. Would it work if I created a folder with that name?

You can set your notification sound on settings - sound and vibration - notification sound - music on device.
Or you want it for Messenger too ??
You can create a folder named "Notifications" without any problem. Or see the locations from which you can choose and put the sound there.
I put it in the "sounds" and it works. Thanks guys!
I have been trying to add some of the old sounds/notifications to my A32. When I add the sounds (ogg format) to ringtones, etc folders they don't show up as an option for selection. (probably because the phone is not rooted). With Solid Explorer I can Select the sound I want but it never sticks. I still get system sounds. Nothing seems to allow me to add my own custom sounds
Any help greatly appreciated

Yes the files are in the folders in internal memory, not SD card. When attempting to select the sound I am asked which app to use. solid explorer or media selector. If I chose solid explorer I can navigate to the folder and select the sound but it does not stick. If I use media selector then the sound does not appear in the list. I have rebooted after adding the sound just in case
