Nexus 5 emoji broken

After rooting my device i wanted to change my emoji, but after doing this i realized i liked the google once more, but after restoring them they all appeared as squares! Any one know how to solve this?

Is this SleekStrip a good phone grip/stand alternative?

A friend recommended this product to me and was wondering what everyone's thoughts were? Are there any similar products out there? (not a fan of popsockets or phone rings since they add a lot of width).
