[Q] Helium Questions - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I backed up to Helium on my Galaxy Tab 7 to Dropbox
I know you need premium to restore from dropbox, but I thought I'd be able to download the backup to my PC, drag it to my Tab and then restore it.
However, it will not find the restore no matter how I put it into the Tab.
Is there anyway round this or am I going to have to buy the Premium version just to get my backup to work?
Thanks

I don't know, but how about doing a helium backup on the tab now and then replacing that with the backup from Dropbox. Maybe it will see it then

Just download the helium folder contents from Google Drive and put thing inside carbon folder on internal sdcard.

Is there software that backs up phone to

the pc? similar to mybackup pro? but instead of sd card it can send it to PC and with ability to restore everything including sideloading?
I used My Backup Pro and just copied and pasted the entire SD card directory to the computer, pasting it back on the Sd card and overwriting everything when I wanted to restore
Titanium backup syncs to dropbox with can then be synced to a PC.

I mean restore it from of since I haven't been able to restore since sideloading is disabled

you can just create a nand backup, or many of them, and copy the nand backup to your pc. i have a few nand backups sitting on a pc somewhere just in case all hell breaks loose and i need one to restore my phone, i just grab it and restore.
I meant directly from pc

Ditto, or you could use TiBu and any other external synch utility like SugarSync and just synchronize the entire backup directory.

Can you back your phone to you're computer

What exactly are you trying to backup?
If you already have a Titanium Backup, copy that folder to your PC
Also, SMS Backup and Restore, Call Log Backup and Restore and APN Backup and Restore to backup those items, then copy the folders to the computer from your phone.
We need a little more info to give you a good answer but that should help

To backup your phone, complete Andorid OS, system files, apps and all.....you need a nandroid backup. This you would acheive with Clockworkmod Recovery. This a complete 1:1 backup that will be an exact replica of your phone. Everything........you then copy the backup folder to your computer.
Now if you want a backup like syncing your files, music, pics and folders, you need Kies, which is the samsung software for this. HOWEVER, it may or may not backup your SYSTEM files and settings......I have not used Kies in a while, so dont know what it does anymore
And finally, you can use a file manager like Astro File Manager, Root Explorer and then copy all files to your external SD card.
Have fun !!
And u say I'm in every thread? I leave for a few hours and u handle all the questions lol, what I'm I supposed to do now?

What he said... ^^^^.... with one exception. .. a Nandroid backup does NOT backup the modem partitions (mmcblk0p17 and mmcblk0p13).

I agree with Uncle Irish, Titanium Backup will do all that for you.
To sync to a windows pc, just get my phone explorer from Google play.

EDIT: MyPhoneExplorer lets you sync to Outlook, Thunderbird, and several other apps on your PC. You'll need to download the PC version, too. I use this to back up my contacts and calendar to Outlook.
The other posts here have great advice for backing up your phone's files. ROM Toolbox is a great app that does a lot of what you want on a rooted phone. It can do app backups just like Titanium Backup (I actually like RTB better than TiBu). I also back up calendar and contacts to google for easy syncing after a wipe.

[Q] dropbox only uploads won't download

Trying to download backup from dropbox to galaxy s2. When i go to titanium backup and click RUN it just completes an upload but doesn't put any of the apps from my previous galaxy s2 on the new one. When i go to batch restore it says i only have 53 apps to restore. On my old phone it says i have over 200 apps to restore. I've even tried saving the backups to different locations.nothing. Please help
I think you have to manually download the files & put them on your SD card, then Titanium Backup will see them like normal.

Is there an easy way to do that? i.e. via computer?
Download all of them to computer, and transfer them to your sd's titanium folder...
"By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you, Man and Knife"
Log to your dropbox account from ur pc.. Download the backup and then restore using titanium. Would be easier and faster anyways

I usually do that via PC as well as some other users suggested above. It's gonna be faster as well...

How do I pull an app off my phone so I can download it on another?

I am going to un route my phone and then root it again. My favorite reminder app Astrid is no longer supported and is no longer in the market however I still use it all the time. I don't like the other applications.
I use titanium back up. I am assuming that I can pull the application off of my phone and put it on my desktop and then transfer it back to my phone and install it. Is that correct? What file should I look for? Do I need multiple files? I copy and pasted the Astrid folder from my phone to my desktop so I could transfer it back to my phone and still have all of my information when I restored however I don't think that folder has the actual application in it.

Its as simple as opening titanium backup, going to backup/restore, scrolling to the app you want which in this case is Astrid, tap the app and press backup! You don't need to move the file off the phone as long as you're not wiping the internal SD which 95% of the time isn't necessary. Hope I helped!

Thanks for your response, however I will be wiping the phone completely.

You can set the location of Titanium Backup to an easy to remember folder. After finishing the backup you can transfer the files to your PC, and then to your new phone.
In case you have an external SD card you can set it to backup there. Then you can just insert your SD in the new phone to recover.

Samsung galaxy nexus, so no sd card. Which file am I looking for in titanium? And do I want to restore that file necessarily? I might be putting it on an SG3 and I wouldn't want to include and system info and I'm not sure exactly what that backed up file includes.
Is there an .sdk that I should look for?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
You can use titanium backup or backup system apps using es file explorer backup
Maybe I'm not being clear. What would the filename be called and where would I find it? I installed root browser but there is no search function. I'm assuming it's Astrid.sdk

Titanium Backup Issue

OK so I am quite new to the rooting and restoring side of titanium backup. I have installed a new ROM and re-downloaded TB. When I go in to the restore part of TB nothing showed up for back ups. If I go into my file explorer I can see the TB folder and all of the .zip files for each app. I have put the folder on my SD and on my Internal memory and still nothing showes up to restore. PLEASE PLEASE HELP I can not find anything on my issue and don't know where to go from here. Thanks in advance!

I expect you just need to go into TB's settings/preferences and set the folder to where your backups are.
