[Q] De-bricking my d2vzw ! - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

So I got a hard brick today while flashing 4.1.2 onto an S3, I think it must of already had it or something, tho I don't see why that would do it, and I was pretty sure I had checked and that's why I was doing it in the first place, but my brain was a lil under-volted at the time (lack of sleep and what not) I was doing so in order to Root/Unlock & Flash CWM....but since I already posted about this earlier this morning - long story short, it said Successful and then I unplugged it and all the sudden my screen went black and never came back. Still installs drivers when i plug it into a PC, and Windows makes the USB Alert sounds, and also if I take the battery out and plug it in, I get a red LED that stays on for about 2 min if that.
So Now that I recapped, Here is what I am bout to attempt to do. Use this guide I found for the sprint GS3 <<<<<<Thanks to De-Bricked for making this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2397145&page=8 >>>>>>
and then this dude here made a you-tube vid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dU5H8NJ7vTM&hd=1(which I didnt watch, lol, I can't stand watching How-to-videos) but I do wanna give him a big thanks for the links to everything I needed to make De-Bricked's method work on the d2vzw, he was the first (as far as I know) to make it work on the Verizon.
So basically that's it. It's either that or pay some dev to JTAG it for me, which I hear cost around 40 or 60$. Almost 4 years of Flashing Roms and making Mods/Themes, I finally bricked my first device lol Just glad it wasn't to my new Note 3 VZW lol
So I guess wish me luck, i will post my results, still waiting for the last file which is my stock 4.1.2 from Samsung-update. So if anyone has any tips or anything (this will be one of the few times I've ever ran a Linux environment as well, kinda stoked, lil nervous as well :silly: Send them good vibes my way !

Also bricked i9305
Will be trying this tonight, also hard bricked mine last night. will watch your progress.

My progress haha has been getting caught up in how awesome Linux/Ubuntu is lol but I just wanted to do a lol more research. And I got a new 16gb card and everything so tonight it goes down. I will keep you updated.

I think that is my problem, I have a 16GB MicroSD-card, but its not a Class 10, its a class 6 I believe. I saw some people mention that, but was hoping it was just them or something that could only get a Class 10 to work, and that mine was somehow uber special lol guess not. Going to Target or Wallmart (I hate both those stores with a passion) in the morning to grab one. I need to get this phone fixed.
I was hoping that maybe it could be a "COMMA" Brick, which I am gonna try plugging it in all night tonight and see if it will go on after I have. Even tho this phone wont turn on, it still gets recognized as a usb device by Windows, cause when i plug it into the USB on my laptop, you get the Windows Notification Noise that its plays when plugging/unplugging a USB Device, and the phone sends it's USB Drivers through, and the PC starts installing them. As well as the Red LED that comes on for a lil bit at a time. Which I did have it set before to show a Red LED when battery is low and/or I am charging the phone. So obviously there is still life within this phone.
Also can someone take a look at how the debrick.img was written to my SD-Card and tell me if that looks right. It seems to look ok to me, but I don't have anything to base that off of since I've never see the partition allocation on for this so it could be wrong. Here's the link of the screen shot from my SDcard -
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
Direct Link - http://img9.imageshack.us/img9/5540/piop.jpg

i just had this exact same issue. right after i flashed the unsecure bootchain. get the same exact symptoms.

Well I am about to do it. Just haven't been able to pick up my SDcard yet. Bought one from Walmart online and did the store pickup option but I guess I should"ve just ordered it from Amazon and had it delivered lol. Recently totalled my car so it's hard for me to get around lately.
I will be picking it up tomorrow before noon for sure and then Depending on what one of the guys who helped perfect this method says after he gets the info from me he asked for , which I just sent to him, I will be trying it first thing after I pick up that Class 10 card, cause I gotta get this S3 working for the owner ASAP.
FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE THINKING OF TRYING THE METHOD I HAVE MENTIONED HERE PLEASE REMEMBER TO USE A CLASS 10 MICRO-SDCARD. EITHER A 16GB OR 32GB DEPENDING ON YOUR MODEL OF GS3. NEEDS TO MATCH THE ON-BOARD STORAGE SIZE OF YOUR GS3.

Got the image written to the micro SD card properly using Ubuntu, now I am logging back into windows and getting everything ready so when I drop that card in and she boots up, I can reboot into download mode and bring up Odin with a quickness

Dude you are asking a question on a thread that gives you the answer. The answer to your question is in the links on the opening post.

So far I still can't get it to work. Not sure what the issue is but about to try for the 3rd time. *fingers crossed*

Bricked
I restored my phone form being hard bricked 3 times. Have installed roms before, this phone is a problem.
The 4th time i hard bricked it, can't boot off sd card, no life at all. Sent to mobile tech videos They shipped it yesterday, should have it back Friday or Saturday. Paid the extra $10 for them to root and install Liquid Smooth rom total $60 expensive lesson. Luckily I still have old phone to use.
I used the method in the video linked in 1st post, windows pc, you don't need linux. I believe the problem with my last brick, was that I used a different boot image, and flashed the rom before going back to original. Didn't want to waste more time trying to find a new de-brick image.
Will post when i receive phone.
Good luck to everyone

[Q] Issue with I9003 - Pseudo Factory Reset

Hi forum!!
I've been a happy Samsung Galaxy I9003 owner for a while now, and I've always come to this forum for reference on any issues encountered. But right now I have an issue i'm having a hard time understanding, and it's quite a mistery.
Everything started when I downloaded the new Gingerbread update. The phone was wonderful, worked perfectly, but it had one little issue. I left it one night, and the morning after when i picked it up i saw that it was prompting for the initial data (language, use 3G-Wifi, etc). I completed the form once more, and it was back to factory...but in a weird way. Contacts were gone, SMS were gone, APNs were gone, WiFis were gone...but my apps were still there! They were even ordered alphabetically in the menu! Weird, really weird...Background was back to the factory one, icons on the main desktop were back to factory ones, ringtones were back to factory ones. But all my app configurations were still there, emails, gmail, market, corporate email...it was all there.
I discarded this as an issue with the Gingerbread ROM i installed (from Kkrraazzyy's post, the last one), so I downgraded to Froyo once more. Now, why would I ever want to do that?
Idiot me did not look into what version I was running. So I tried the version i remembered I had installed. Worked nice, installed nice...but....next morning...SAME ISSUE! Once more the initial configuration and the same thing...no APNs, no SMS, no Contacts, no nothing, but apps and configs, purrfect!
Now, what I did was move to other Froyo images thinking that I might have gotten the wrong one. I discarded 4 or 5 of them, with different things not working on my phone exactly.
So, after a bit of debating with myself, I decided to upgrade to another GB, but not the final version, a previous one. When i connected it to Samsung Kies, to restore my backup, Kies greeted me with a "I've got a new firmware for your phone...do you wish to upgrade?". I thought "Why not? Maybe if the Samsung software is performing the upgrade, then it might work, considering that i wouldn't be intervening and possibly not interfering with it. So it upgraded, took a considerable amount of time in comparison to ODIN, but it went through.
How did it go? Smooth as silk...everything was wonderful! Apps worked, hardware worked, phone run well...backup went in perfectly...i was so happy! Last night I was watching a movie with it, it was great! So i went to sleep with a happy smile on my muzzle, only to wake up this morning and find the phone with....THE FRIGGIN' START FORM ONCE MORE!! FFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!
Once more, no APNs, no SMS, no Contacts, no WiFi, no nothing!!! Back to factory partially!
So now i'm thinking...firmware is out of the question...is there any chance there might be something physically wrong with my phone by now?? Something like...I don't know...I haven't got the slightest idea. So i'm open to ideas about what this might be about..
Oh, a colorful note...don't know if it has something to do, but i consider it sporty to let you know about it. A weird thing about a Froyo version i installed, was that when you woke up the phone, it would show a red sign on the top saying "Internal SD memory removed". I was truly shocked since I thought that the internal memory could not be removed without the phone crashing. But well, i just discarded that data at the time as an issue with the image.
Ideas, anyone? If not, i'm guessing i'll just place it under my car, ran it over, and get another with the insurance...
I think I heared such problem once a time. Try in this way
1. flash kpe with all 4 files
2. flash kpm single file as pda file.
3. do factory reset
if it solve ur problem then its better for u. But if u still face internal sd card error problem then straight way flash stock firmware which is available in ur country & go to samsung center & tell them that suddenly this problem is occured. Dont tell them that u have ever flashed anything on it.

LMAO, I lol'd hard at your post regarding it went overnight FUU.
Firstly, the post was a little long, but interesting. Me gusta.
The problem could be the following
- What class is your SD card? Some tend to buy cheap ones, or some tend to offer when you get a SALE they pitch in a ****ty SD card that literally messes your phone. Made in Taiwan > Made in China. For some. There have been cases when the SD card has not been "ejected" properly the phone tends to receive this as a crash and default sets everything back to stock *Apple does this aswell*. But ofcourse I implore you to try using ANOTHER SD card. If your using one that used to be from a Nokia phone then you need to format that ****. Some files in Nokia cause issues with the Android, this happened when I first got my phone aswell. I would suggest getting one from branded companies, Kingston/SanDisk, IMO, Sandisk is the best. Cheap yet to the mark.
- What put me on edge was your contacts and messages being gone. Maybe it's SD related. Iunno.
PS: Don't use Kies. Kies is horrible. If 2 ugly trolls mated, Kies was probably the result.
To test: Use XXKPH/XXKPM Choice is yours, Don't know how to flash it? Link is under my sig, Remove your SD card. Use it for a day, Fill up the internal memory with atleast 500MB of stuff. Lastly? Pray that overnight the trollfairy doesn't swap your phone with a factory reset one .
Hey Misledz! Thanks for your reply!
About the SD Card, I'm using a Kingston Class 4, 8GB one. But the issue is presenting with "Internal SD Card". While i'm doing this with the phone, just out of precaution, i take it out and i haven't placed it inside my phone yet.
And the whole "Trollfairy" thing, it's starting to look like a viable explanation to it, LOL!!

@Collie, Well the problem happens at times when you don't factory reset. *2767*3855# that should get you in to a manual factory reset. The phone's internal memory sometime's has issues with that, You may however need to flash the latona file to repartition the drive. After the repartition, the flashing of the firmware and lastly, le factory reset. That should serve as a stable ground base
Kingston Nice.
Updates?
KIES really is a POS. Every time i flash a new fw and my phone does the initial boot while its connected to the pc I see the horrid screen on my phone reminding me that KIES is installed on my pc. FUUUUUUUUU

About that, maybe I'm doing the reset in an incorrect way. I've been using Vol +, OK, Power to enter the second recovery mode and factory reset the phone. I don't know if this is the same as using the code.
Update on what I did:
I installed the last version of Gingerbread once more, flashed with Odin. This time i did not install any app or register in google, i just left it as it was. This was done saturday afternoon. At night, i took it with me, and i left it in my bag while I was at the club. When i got back to it, around 6 AM, it hadn't rebooted. So i went home, went to sleep, woke up at midday for lunch and....FFFFFFUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!
LOL the irony of the best order. Well did you try without the sdcard? That's your last option from your side, the next possible is getting the unit changed if you are under warranty, just don't mention odin, rather always blame kies LOL. If the end of the world happened, kies. World War 3,kies. There was a user who had the same issue reported like 5months ago, he had internal ROM problem where the phone failed to save the information it was given causing it to say the internal was corrupt? He ended up getting a new unit and found out later the unit he had previously was a faulty handset

SD has been out since day 1, since I started having this issue, first thing i thought is "this idiot is saving its own files to the SD instead of its own memory, and when it reboots for some reason it can't find the files and goes nuts".
So yes, i'm thinking about just taking it to the store and getting a new one...
THAT'S IT! I'm taking it to the store tomorrow...
Now it's just rebooting itself...Samsung logo going on and on....

Help (if possible)! think my phone is done :(

This is going to be long!
If anyone has insight to this would be appreciated
Precursor: I am on CM9 nightly (7-27-12) with 6.0.1.0 non touch recovery (NS4G)
So last night I go to open my opera web browser and it would flash like it would open and instant close (no error message). I say OK thats weird and decide to reboot. Upon rebooted I am greeted with never ending amount of FC's from every app and service imaginable. I again say OK EXTREMELY weird and decide its time to restore my backup from yesterday.
I reboot in recovery and what do I get greeted with? Unable to mount /sdcard! Long story short after scouring google for about an hour I find that if I do a fastboot oem lock/unlock I should get back up and running. Thankfully that works and I install the newest 7/31 CM9 nightly.
I wake up today without my phone alarm going off when it should. Weird huh? I go to open the clock and get a FC from the clock application. Reboot and it works just fine. OK weird again.
Go to work and leave my phone on the counter to help a customer. I come back to the desk and my phone is in recovery mode? Uhhh what? I reboot the phone and it says "encryption unsuccessful" and the phone needs to wipe data and reboot to continue use...
I decide WTF why not, not like I can use it. At this point I'm worried though. The phone reboots to recovery and I guess does a data wipe (takes 3-5 mins) and reboots. Now I am stuck on the CM9 bootscreen and won't go past.
I have some ideas as to get the phone (hopefully) back up and running. Just curious what this sounds like to anyone more knowledgeable then me (especially the part where it tried to encrypt my phone without me touching it!)
Any thoughts or help is appreciated!
Edit: I tried copying files to sdcard from recovery using mount usb storage. The files copy over and as soon as I leave the mount menu and go to install the zip files WHICH I SAW ON THE SDCARD they ARE NOT THERE anymore.
Edit2: It still lets me install the CM9 7/31 nightly which I had saved on the phone yesterday. Even after wiping everything and reinstalling the ROM I can't get past the CM9 bootscreen
Edit3: Tried fastboot, odin, nothing works. Even after odin I still get the CM9 boot screen. Pretty sure something is messed up to the point of I need a new phone. FML!
YESS!!!
YES I WANT ATTENTION.
I Have exactly the same. Mother of smartphones Somebody help us!
Its the internal Memory thats messed up yes, But Please somebody fix this Bullcrap. We don't have the knowledge but I will gladly donate to you who fixes it!
I just bought a brand new screen for my phone and I don't freaking want to buy a new Phone At the moment, So if you find a way to help us then let us know since that could be lifesaving right now.
Pretty sure I've given up. Everything I've tried has failed... looks like it might be gnex time.

I HAD THIS SAME EXACT PROBLEM
Temporary solution: heat the phone up with a hair blow dryer. get it hot but not so hot that it melts things. it will be able to boot up and work. I used this method so i could copy my sd card to my computer and wipe everything off
Permanent solution: turn your phone in for repair. there is no remedy to fixing this. apparently the circuit board or chip is bad and you can't fix it.
Luckily I had best buy black tie protection and I am waiting on my new replacement phone.

I work in a computer repair shop and going by that solution...sounds like a problem I may be able to repair using a similar method as some of the board-level repairs I do pretty often...anyone want to send me a dead lab rat? Lol

You can have mine lol x) And Yep i fix computers for friends and so on their friends and this sounds like Nvidia was behind the chip... xD
It wouldn't matter who actually makes a chip if the heating it up is a temporary fix. That is a OEM issue. Basically think xbox360 rrod with the warped boards the solder melting/failing and the chips get loose etc.
Unless heating up failed flash storage temporarily makes it work. Which I doubt is the case but don't actually know. Brings back memories of putting failing HDD drives in the freezer though.
Well this is my official goodbye to the Nexus S forums (not like anyone cares haha). Just got my shiny new Galaxy Nexus. Have a great night everyone and happy modding!

[Q] Verizon SCH-I535 Hard Brick Options...

Hello to all the people of the world who share this amazing interest in their electronics.
Please let me begin by saying that this is my first post and have searched for hours over the last five days to try and find the answers and learn more about my situation, and I thank anyone who takes the time to respond ahead of time.
I am the owner of a what I believe to be a hard bricked verizon sch-i535.
I started with the stock phone and I decided to try the update I found on this wonderful site.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1974114
"[GUIDE] Jelly Bean Factory Image (Root/Recovery/Unlocked Bootloader) *UPDATED 12/6*"
I followed the directions perfectly, installed TWRP Recovery, added SuperSU, and went with both Root and Unlocked Bootloader option.
Everything went perfect. The phone rebooted, opened loaded android jelly bean perfect and I was able to make a recovery back up, by entering TWRP recovery mode, three button combo, vol up, power, home. This all went perfectly according to plan.
My problem arose when I pushed my luck and lack of research which I rightly admit and decided to try and then upload one of the modified roms.
I decided to go with the latest AOKP milestone, that i downloaded from the AOKP site.
aokp_i9300_jb_milestone-1.zip
I had spent some time researching and was pretty sure I understood what to do.
I entered TWRP with the three button recovery mode option (vol up, home, power), made a second back up, did the factory reset swipe, cleared both caches, then tried to install "aokp_i9300_jb_milestone-1.zip" from sd card which was on the list. The phone reloaded, the screen went black and enter what i now believe to be hard brick status.
I have tried all the simple fixes, ordered and used a download jig, removed battery, no button responses, not recognized by odin on xp, computer chimes but does not recognize phone. This is where I'm at and how I have gotten here. If only
I have been researching JTAG and the RIFF box, and now also the ORT JTAG box. There are people who are supposidly doing JTAG repairs on the sch-i535 even though all of the sales sites for these boxes do not show the Snap dragon msm 8960 chip set is supported. I realize I could just send this phone to them but I would really like to repair it myself if I can purchase the correct tools. I have searched high and low and would just like to know if anyone on here has any experience with this type of repair if you think its an option in my case. I have also read that people who have had hard bricks with the same symptoms have had to replace the motherboard. If JTAG repair with RIFF box is possible, can I use the same JTAG jig as the one designed for the i747 version which is also based on the same chipset? I realize that the actual programing is different between carriers but if the RIFF box has the correct verizon software can it be used with i747 JTAG jig?
I have also read about the option to use a good SCH-I535 to make a boot sd card and then short the resistor on the bricked phone. There really hasn't been much written about success with this option. I am a person who believes I can fix anything, and would like to be able to repair it in the future if I can find the right tools and also help others in my area. Is it really dead or can I still resurrect my phone?
Thanks a lot to all of you at XDA.

No, my phone is completely unresponsive. Neither of the three button press options nor the download jig I ordered do anything.
your problem lies in the fact that you flashed an i9300 (international variant) rom onto your us variant rom. unfortunately they're not compatible and most probably bricked your phone unless you are somehow able to go back into download mode and use odin to flash the appropriate stock rom for your verizon s3.

Thanks for your response. A question about the variants. Was it the No wipe version, or the AOKP version? I'm thinking the AOKP due to the fact that the phone booted up perfect after the no-wipe Jelly bean. Or am I wrong, and would it appear to operate fine at beginning only to crash after?

The problem is you flashed the I9300 AOKP on your Verizon S3. Guaranteed hard brick every time.
Glad to see you've been researching and you're on the right path, is gonna need JTAG. here is the link everyone uses. You may be able email and ask what method they use to determine if you can do it yourself. I'd guess it's expensive, but it may be something you want to do.

My guess is that I7 box will do no good. There has to be more to JTag. In the beginning Josh at Mobile Tech could JTag the other Variants but not the I535. He now can so apparently there is more needed than just the box.

Thanks for your response. I have spent at least 5 hours a night since Monday to try to figure this all out. I am learning a lot about this phone and the processes here on xda, and all it has done is peak my interest even more. I'm definitely in the camp that believes its wrong to take back a perfectly good phone that is technically only "asleep." :fingers-crossed:
add another one to the jtag tryouts!

sorry the late response since apparently this got moved to the appropriate forum.
it's the i9300 rom which if i remembered correctly, is the AOKP. You need to somehow get back to download mode and use odin to flash the proper stock rom into it.
Good luck
Success!
Well not exactly but my phone is completely fixed thanks to Josh at MOBILE TECH VIDEOS! After extensively searching for answers and figuring out what I had done there was only one option. JTAG. I realize I could have just brought it back to Verizon and exchanged it but I wasn't willing to risk getting a refurb when I knew there was nothing physically wrong with my phone. I called the Mobile Tech Videos number last Tuesday afternoon to make sure I could speak to a person before just placing my phone in the mail. The person who answered was actually Josh the owner. I explained what I had done to the phone and he explained exactly what I did internally to the phone and that he could definitely help me. He even told me of a notebook program that would let me read the code before had and I would have seen that I had an international ROM. He was very easy to talk to and took the time to explain to me information that he has probably said 1000s of times all with patience and a genuine desire to help me understand.
I packaged my phone up on Tuesday and mailed it the way his very well designed website said to. He told me exactly what would happen and it did. I received an email Friday stating that they had received my phone and that because I had paid the additional 15$ for the expedited service, that the phone would be fixed and shipped within 2 business days. Monday I received another email that my phone was fixed and shipped with a tracking number. I had also paid for the expedited shipping so I received my phone today! 4 day turn around...Awesome! :victory:
It was packaged in a small bubble wrap envelope inside a larger bubble wrap envelope inside of the outer shipping envelope safe and sound.
Came home put sim card, battery in and it came to LIFE! I went back over all the correct steps I had done and reinstalled Jelly bean with TWRP and both the superuser and root unlock option. SO glad to have my phone working again thanks to MOBILE TECH VIDEOS and Josh but also everyone here at XDA! Thanks Again!
I hard bricked mine following a soft brick. Followed the guide to the letter, or so I thought. Anyway I ended up with a paperweight. I didnt know about jtag repair so I talked with samsung and explained what happened and even told them it as a rooted bad flash. They advised to send it in to them and they would fix. Sent off on friday and got it back yesterday. Samsung replaced the motheboard and did it under warranty. I should have had to pay something but did not have to. I learned my lesson on paperweights. Phone was rooted as quickly as possible, installed ota rootkeeper and took the ota this morning. So far everything is golden.

[Q] Bricked GS3

I've bricked my GS3. I got it rooted, custom recovery installed and bootloader unlocked then proceeded to flash the Foxhound rom. Now after the Foxhound flash, it is completely unresponsive. All I can guess is that I downloaded the wrong version of the rom.
When I plug it in, device manager recognizes it as QHSUSB_DLOAD. searching on this gives very disheartening results.
Is there any hope? I've found some references that certain phones are recoverable if a Linux machine is available to perform the operation. I do use Linux so if something is available, please clue me in.
Thanks,
Quintin

Nope ... I press any button, or combination thereof, and nothing happens. Well, not nothing. If I'm plugged into the computer it dings in recognition of a device being plugged in but there is zip displayed on the screen of the phone.
At this point, I've done enough reading to come to the understanding that the phone is dead ... may as well bury it in the back yard next to the cat for all it matters.

Yes, I'm guessing so. I ran across it when working with CM last weekend on the Nexus that the GS3 replaced. That was the fist I've worked with ROMs. I knew Foxhound was out of Italy but the light never went on.
Good thing I still have the Nexus.
JTAG is the only fix for the QHSUSB-DLOAD mode. Unless someone has very recently found a way to recovery from it which is doubtful.
Mobiletechvideos.com can fix you up for about $60 (plus shipping I believe) and a couple weeks.

Hey, man ... thanks! Everything I have read about JTAG was that I had to send it back to Verizon but it wold cost me so much that I may as well buy a new one.
Ya know ... when I started out with computers ump-teen years ago, you'd tweek the machine till it was fubar, wipe it and start over. Now you tweek this stuff till it's fubar, fork out a chunk-o-change and don't do it again. They've taken all the joy out of it.
I did the same exact thing about a month and a half ago.
it would make a noise when i plugged into the computer, but couldnt boot into download or recovery. and i also flashed an international version on accident!
Found a guy that does it for 45, and got it back 7 days later. just google brickedmyphone and his is the first link. I tried talking to the mobiletechvideos guy and he didnt respond for about 6 days which is a long time with a bricked phone! Could've been a fluke, but this guy and brickedmyphone got back to me quick and was cheaper than mobiletechvideos. But the fact that he did it quicker than mobiletechvideos for me was because he's not as popular(i think) and lives closer. mobiletechvideos is in texas (as was 60 bucks before shipping) brickedmyphone is in michigan(45 before shipping), michigan being much closer to ohio, i chose him.
whoever you choose, it is well worth the month because it teaches you a very good life lesson to triple check everything before flashing a rom
yay for runon sentences and sounding like a poorly written testimony! oh well :b
good luck mang.

I done goofed

I recently bought a Samsung Blaze from my friend who upgraded to an Iphone 5 for $50.
I really enjoyed the phone, but being the autist I am I couldn't handle the bloaty pink addons that tmobile had provided. In addition I had numerous prompts about how my phone couldn't complete wireless calling due to my dated prepaid sim card.
I decided to use keyes to upgrade to ICS, which provided no new differences.
I then decided to go to my local library to root my phone on a windows machine.
During my first attempt I was rushed, and ended up soft bricking my phone.
My second attempt was sucessfull in rooting and installing the clockwork mod.
I tried downloading liquid smooth and installing it, like a moron ( i assumed all roms would work with any device considering that I really couldn't find a specific set of roms for the device). I ended up hard bricking it.
Now, what do I do?
Can I go to tmobile and play dumb, despite the fact that I do not have a contract with them and just a prepaid sim? Would they offer a replacement even without a receipt (its got TMOBILE plastered all over the front in that respect).
or
Should I just play dumb with Samsung? Say that my power went out when installing ICS on kies and my phone wont turn on? Will they send me a refurbished one?
or should I just sent it here mobiletech videos .mybigc om merce.co m/s amsung-gala xy-blaze-4g-jt ag-bric k-repa ir/
It might be nice to have it unlocked and rooted, and I guess I could have them install a rom I want in that event.
Any insights are much appreciated.
I've hard-bricked my Blaze once. All I did was send it back(not in store) and get a new replacement one.. As some people suggested, have you tried getting in download mode? ROMs as you've learned don't work with any device. That's why we have a separate forum for our device . Which LiquidSmooth did you use? In the Dev forum(for the Blaze) we have a LiquidSmooth ROM..
Neither T-Mobile nor Samsung are obligated to replace the phone for a number of reasons, but you could give calling them a try if all else fails. Samsung might be willing to replace it if it has been less than a year since it was purchased, but my experience with them is that they wont honor a warranty without a receipt if you're not the original owner.
First try getting the phone into download mode and using ODIN to reflash the stock rom tar, following the directions of course: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1591601

To specify, it is not reacting to any button presses at all. The soft brick that I previously did just made it freeze at the tmobile spash screen, which I fixed by returning to stock.
I cannot currently turn on the phone, nor get it to download mode. I will not indicate if it is charging, and plugging it into the computer brings up "improppertly removed media" prompts on my computer screen.
I only have osx and linux, so I kind of rushed when the library was closing and downloaded a stable version of liquid smooth, turned on usb storage on my phone, then launched the zip file from clockwork rom manager, just as some random web page told me to.
When you said you returned it back, did you mean tmobile or samsung? Did they ask for receipt or for your sim card to still be in the device; or did they just take it and give you a new one because it was clearly marked as a tmobile device?
