Not like that as far as i know. U ll have to charge and discharge the battery completely for the first time after purchasing it, in order for a better battery lifetime.
Hit thanks rather than typing it now Free
The new batteries comes out without the memory-effect. They don't need to be fully discharged and fully recharged.
The best warnings I can give you are to not let it go below the 5% of charge and to not let it reach hot temperatures.
Sorry for my english .

i've just bought a 2000Mah battery for my Diamond.
all i need to do is fully charge/discharge battery up to 4 cycles before achieving full capacity of a new battery right?
what i want to ask is. can i turn on my phone while charging my battery?
of course i can!
but, i want my battery is in maximum capacity and longer life time.
how to do that? should i turn off the phone while i'm charging it for the first time?
thanks for answering.
cheers!, nightly_shadow
In theory, it would be best if you left the phone to fully charge without touching it, then let it fully discharge by heavy usage.
oh.. ok. i got it. thanks for your opinion.
I go out at night mostly so by the time i leave the house my phones battery is about 75% full. I have the LG G2x. My question is sometimes before i leave i'll see that it's 75% full so i'll charge it back to 100% before i leave. Does charging the phone without it being drained damage the battery? should i just leave it alone next time i go out? sorry if this is already a thread just point me in the right direction.
Thanks.
You're not damaging your battery But if you never drain the battery completely, i'm not sure how good the battery will be after 6 month, so i recommend you drain it completely every couple of weeks.

There are several opinions about keeping battery health for more time. Recharging at 75% is not one of them, but it's not the worth of it.
Here's what i know and what i've heard:
* some manufacturers (laptops) have software that don't allow the battery to charge when it's over 80 to 90% - they say it helps on battery life
* it's common sense that you should recharge when you have 20 - 40% and do a full cycle once in a while (this is what i do)
In my opinion, charging only 25% of the charge in a regular basis will not really help to keep battery life...
I've personally had the best performance from batteries when I let them discharge as much as possible and then charge them to full without interruption.
some have also said that draining the battery too often can also damage it, is this correct?
They like to be ran down then recharged but not all the way down to nothing unless you are having a problem with bat life on a rom

Yes. You should not drain your battery all the time. Use normally, charge it when below 40% and yes, charge it back to full - that's the ideal thing.

+1 that is the best way. Li-on batteries should'n be drained completly because it can shorten their life.
I read somewhere that it is not important when you start charging your battery (20%, 60%...) but it's important that it finishes to charge up to 100% every time
I heard/read that LI-ION batter is good to charge when cap goes bellow 30%.
hi, is that tru, that is better to charge your device the first 3 times 12 hours? because i know that with the new batteries don´t need that like some smartphones?
and i hear that is better if i discharge totally the battery and then i charge until 100% so if that is true, that means that is not good to charge like 1 hour?
thank you.
It is actually bad for the battery (Lithium-ion or Lithium-polymer) to discharge it completely. You should always aim to grab the charger at around 20%, refill to 100%, then remove the charger.
Newer batteries don't worry so much about 'trickle charging' once the battery is full (and newer, more energy-conscious chargers may actually switch themselves off internally to prevent wastage and damage to the cell).
If you have a brand new phone, the first charge should be for 12-18 hours, preferably without use (if you can bear it). You won't see the maximum battery life from the cell until you 'cycle' (charge/discharge) it a few times, but after a week or so you should get a profound increase in battery life.
Just remember - no lower than 20%
Hope this helps!

NO! This is bullsh*t that u need to load battery 12 hrs, better take ur battery off and throw in sh*ting bowl and w8 sb to go toilet or you can urinate too and see, what happen! u can try it high voltage battery too, i hope that result is same..

for first time it is good for the battery so that it gain its max capacity..so when you get the phone first charge it to 10 hrs.and dont use at that time and also charge your battery only when it goes below 5% because every phone is having its charge and discharge life...
I usually have my charger connected to my phone, is that a bad idea then?
No special reasons to do it but if must go out suddenly and i don't have enough battery...
Yes it is....your battery ruins day by day..just charge when the battery level is below 5%'...

Thanked! My old cell phone could still power on without a battery using the charger, that's one of the functions which i miss on this smart phones.
hello,
I started charging my tab, it got charged till 99% and then i kept on charging it but it didnt went above 99% so i thought may be its because i am using the cell. So i switched it off and kept on charging , The battry icon was charging towards the end part (like the last 10% is getting charged) but in brownish yellow collor (sort of dark orange color) i kept it for charging in this way for like an hour.. Still when i turned on the tab, its 99%. Why so??
I havent rooted it yet! its total stock..
Bought it just 5 days ago..
About half the time, my tab will only go to 99%. Since it's only1% I've never given much thought to it, but I do experience the same problem from time to time.

I'm using a p3113. I've never noticed much difference in how long it lasts. Most days, my tablet will last all day whether it charges to 99% or 100%. You really shouldn't see any difference to speak of between a 100% charge and a 99% charge. I personally think it's an overcharge feature to keep it from overcharging. I've actually seen it jump from 100% to 99% one time. If that's the case, then it's a good thing. You could try to bump charge it like I've done to cellphones that won't fully charge. I really wouldn't recommend it since 1% is practically nothing.
Charge it up (powered on) until it's finished.
Unplug it, and turn it off
Plug it back in to charge (still powered off) again, until it says it's finished. It will continue to charge now.
Now unplug it and turn it back on.
Plug the charger back in (powered on) and charge until it says it's finished.
Keep doing this until when you have it powered on, it should say 100%.

The battery charging end is defined with two parmeters: the battery voltage reach a voltage close to 4.2 V and the battery charging current gets under 200mA ( a value I have estimated on my 5110 model) .
If for some reasons the residual current do not get under this limit value ( # 200mA) while the maximum battery voltage is reached , the state of charge stay screened at 99% !!!!!
The 4.2V battery voltage is a safety limit that a Li-Ion battery should not exceed. Most often the battery voltage is stabilized close to this value at the last stage of the charging cycle and the internal charging progam decide that the charging cycle is finished when the battery current gets under a predifined value.
I have given some examples of charging cycles of different smartphones in my blog : http://78michel.unblog.fr (sorry most examples are in french).

I think it is better for the battery life to stop charging if the state of charge level stay on 99%, because the charging current is maintained continuously in the battery and I think this is not so good for the battery life.
You can check the battery current in the battery with diffrents battery monitoring systems. I use Battery Monitor Widget. This is very convenient app. to analyse the charging cycle and the draining of the battery.
Analysis of my 5110 here: http://78michel.unblog.fr/samsung-galaxy-tab-2-10-1-tests/
The screen of these tablets is the most current draining component. At max screen brigthness the battery life is a less than 6 hours on my 5110. The brightness should be setted as low as possible to improve battery life, other componenet such as WiFi... GPS have very low impact on the battery life.....
Hi,
i have few noob questions, hope get help.
1. is it need charge for 8hours for 1st time after purchased the mobile?
2. is it need keep the battery with full at all time / daily even not below red percentage?
3. some people said Li-ion battery have no memory so can be charge anytime any percentage (even not under red percentage). is it true?
3. whats the best solution for battery calibration? daily or monthly? or when needed?
thx for helps!!!

1)discharge the battery and then plug it in the charger
2)it is not necessary
3)don't do it.discharge the battery at least below 14%(it will always notify for low battery) and then charge it
4)AFAIK battery calibration is a myth

3. but some "expert" people said not necessary to charge it even not below 14%. can be charge anytime.
4. is it necessary or depend on user? coz what we use n charge to the battery is same like calibration? like what u said discharge till 14% below n charge it full again...
