Downgrading - HTC Desire S

Is there anyway of me downgrading my device without rooting it
Sent from HTC desire S Android 4.0.4

No. The exact procedure may be different, depending on what version you're downgrading from, but you will need root access in any case to change the software version reported by the phone.

Shame its going to be a pain this android version is so laggy

[Q] Update to GB 2.3.4 and.......

good day every one new here on HTC sensation, just got mine yesterday, question is how to update my sensation to 2.3.4 is it through the settings>about phone>software update? or HTC has a pc software app for our updates? sorry for being a newbie on Sensation was just so used to using flashtools, seus, pccompanion coming from my experience on xperia X10i, and one more thing I think you can update through the phone but is it safe I mean is there a possibility that i can brick my phone through the software update in my phone and last but not the least if I updated to 2.3.4 do we have a working root method for it or should I wait for the ICS update heard it will come early 2012 for our Sensation was planning to s-off,root,clockwork etc but I was thinking of loosing the ability to update my phone if ever the ICS roll out will come and plus I think I'm risking my phone in bricking it heard that getting s-on is kinda delicate procedure, what do you think guys?
Its actually pretty easy to s back on boss, no worries
yes being that you havent rooted yet you will be able to ota update with the steps as described by yourself. with no risk of bricking So no worries there
You will not be able to get the ics ota once you root, but again no worries our devs here on XDA work hard and quick, im sure ICS will be ported through the many ROMS made for the sensation, more than likely BEFORE the "official" release date.
Summary: go ahead OTA to 2.3.4 (once you doit will be easier to s-off since most guides to s-off are made for 2.3.4)
Root and s-off your device because its awsome
get ICS before "by the book" consumers
@rddocke do you mean this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300 is for 2.3.4? and one more question do i need to Super CID my Sensation even if it is factory unlocked or still needs to? to be able accept any kind of firmware image from anyone?

[Q] How to downgrade from Android 2.3.5 to 2.3.3

Hello,
I have HTC Desire S, EU/UK version. Recently my phone offered me to update Android version to 2.3.5 and HTC Sense version to 3.0. I installed these updates and realised that it is a nightmare, phone works slower (factory reset is done, didn't help) and overall looks is terrible (at least for me). Apparently this update has few nice functions, but still I would like to downgrade my phone back to Android 2.3.3 and HTC Sense to 2.x.
I have searched google for some solutions on this, but haven't found any, only similar complaints from HTC Desire S wanting to downgrade their software versions. I believe that if someone have a solution for this it will be useful for many Desire S owners.
Thanks in advance!
Did you try this link already:

I need help updating to ICS

I recently got a new HTC Sensation from a seller who unlocked it for me, so security was already turned off (S-OFF). I tried updating my phone using official HTC OTA updater, but a white triangle with a yellow exclamation mark appeared. I Googled it and apparently it means that my phone is rooted (which it isn't). So I rooted my phone using "su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip", and obviously I still cannot update.
I spent hours trying to find ways to update my phone manually, but I only found a bunch of dead links.
How can I update my phone to Android 4+
About phone:
Model: HTC-Z710a
Android version: 2.3.3
Software number: 1.35.666.1
Kernal: 2.6.35.10-g9cef70d

If you're phone is already rooted and s off why not use a custom Rom ? We have many ics or 4.0.3-4.0.4 roms. You you want a stock feel there are a few like that too !i found custom roms to be more stable than stock roms . If your soff and rooted just flash the ics firmware which is 3.32 or 3.33. Which ever of those two you choose and then flash your custom Rom. Then you will be running Android 4.0.3 or 4.0.4 ice cream sandwich or ics.why not go that route ? Or you can restore your device to stock, son and go that route. There is a guide for that also. But since you're rooted why not enjoy the customization that comes with being rooted and flash a custom Rom ? There are many great roms to choose from.

[Q] I´d like to downgrade android version - how to?

I´d like to downgrade android version - how to?
Hi,
sorry for my noob question. I´m good in technical stuff but I have less experience in "hacking".
So basically I´d like to downgrade my Sensation to any Android Version below 4. So stock 2,3 would be the best. Nothing more! No special version, no special themes or hacks. Just a downgrade. That´s it.
I have a rooted phone with Cyanogenmod 10 and wish to unroot it so i can claim my warranity..
I know here are lots of guides, but as I said I´m not familiar with that stuff.
Maybe someone can provide me with a guide how to root that phone and how to install a android version?
Thank u very much!!!!
Well, you should just flash an RUU of an older version. But that might not be enough to claim the warranty.
You are probably s-off, and if so, you should check the warranty if that's a limitation. If so, you would need to become s-on again.

Flashing stock Threemobile Sensations

I’ve spend the past few days looking round the forums, and whilst I have a technical background I am completely new to mobile firmware updated.
My one and oney requirement is to speed up my Sensation which has been intermittently un responsive for a few seconds then working again, ever since the ICS update. (Yes I have tried factory resets etc).
The plan was to use the Android Revolutions HD for my Sensation to up the clock speed to 1.5Ghz,
I have the following
HTC Sensation Z710e (pyramid-1.27.0000, Android: 4.0.3, ROM version: 3.32.771.51)
CID = H3G-001
cid list h3g_001,H3g_G04,H3G_106,H3g_402
Because I have HBoot 1.27 then the traditional S-Off methods don’t work, and it’s the wire trick.
The best guide I found was
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1631861
However I don’t appear to be able to flash to Android Revolution HD 6.8 as my firmware is out of date, and I don’t match any of the supported firmware on
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1412618
Am I stuck or have I missed something obvious?

Hi,
The best guide is the one by asskicker.
Do not worry too much about the firmware.
ARHD will still work on your firmware.

That's the guide i have been reading, and it looks good. The bit i am having issues with is the firmware. Without S-Off i dont believe i can update ?
Also with my current ROM , Can I upgrade to the stock firmware as required by android revolution 6.8
"3.33.401.x firmware is required!"
chicken and egg situation with 3.33.401.x firmware or is the firmware backwardly compatible??

Hi,
You are correct ,in that you cannot upgrade firmware with s-on.
There is no problem,though.
I know it says "Required" firmware, but it will still work fine on the firmware you have.
Go ahead and use the guide to flash it.
