[Q] GT-P6810 JB 4.1.2 Stock Rooted MD3 USB Host problem - Galaxy Tab 7.7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just a minor bug I have noticed in this otherwise excellent ROM. It seems that the USB host isn't working correctly on my tab. It constantly disconnects and reconnects both with a USB drive and a mouse. I am using an el cheapo ebay adapter btw. This works fine on stock ICS and PAC. Incidentally, the Samsung keyboard works perfectly but the problem is duplicated when the adapter is plugged in to the keyboard. Another minor bug, (I am sorry of this has been asked before), but 5ghz wifi doesn't seem to work.
Anyone else flashed this and noticed these little bugs? Otherwise, this ROM is cracking, really smooth and even smart stay works!!
Cheers guys,
ATB,
Karlsbug

Still away and not yet able to flash.
What can say is that there are posts regarding 5GHz Wi-Fi band with the P6800 4.1.2 JB. This "bug" is probably related to the firmware itself or modem/region incompatibility. Some have been lucky to fix it with a simple factory reset, others not.
The USB dis/re-connect may be kernel and or mount point related. I don't know for sure until I can test and replicate.

Many thanks, I will consult the thread. I tried a reset, no change. Can't wait until you flash, it really is great.

After a busy week tonight was the only free night I had. I tried all of your suggestions, thanks for those, I couldn't get it to work. I think I followed all the steps correctly, no joy. So I just thought flash the deodex version, bingo! 5ghz appeared straight away. No problems with connection at all. I have just to test the usb host issue now, will update asap. All seems to working ok on the new version, multiwindow is good. Nice white background on settings, and no mini apps, excellent.

Sounds silly, but just hoping I have the 5GHz problem after I flash. I'd like to get to the bottom of it. Will be taking a look at weeks end.
Only have a OEM adapter to test. Hopefully OK.

Just to mention I have the same issue when I tried to mount a 64GB Cruzer fit.
All fine with 4.0.4 but mount/dismount issue with that great ROM I would like to use.

WiFi tethering for Paranoid Android, Magic Mod, and CM10

I stumbled on this app yesterday, and it was suggested that I post it here. It's a quick easy "fix" for WiFi tethering on these ROMs. In the settings I had to tick "Skip wpa_supplicant" to get it to work, but so far so good. I hope it works for y'all.

If you go ape**** and download a bunch of data, or use it all the time, most likely they will probably catch it.

I don't recall having any issues with this except with my tablet detecting it after it updated to ICS. I haven't used this in a while as I have been on NUMA for over a month. I'll reinstall PA or something of the like this weekend and see if I can find an answer for you.

Are there any problems using N8013 outside US?

Hello,
I am from Algeria. I want to buy a Galaxy Note 10.1 N8013 from eBay. What are the problems that I may run into using the N8013 model outside US?
And I also noticed that N8010 is more expensive than N8013, so why is that?
Thank you =)
N8000 is outfitted with mobile data as well as WiFi, so the additional hardware calls for a bit more funds.
As for issues, it's different from person to person.
I find that the multi view could use the option of allowing ANY application to run in dual mode, but fortunately there's a solution for that.
The notification bar can be annoying if you use writing apps on the right side of the screen, and the polaris office update doesn't work with JB update in US, so if yours has that issue, just delete the updated polaris.
Other than that, I'd say the note 10.1 is a pretty well rounded tablet.
Consumes as well as produces.
Win.

Thanks for the reply
But, I don't mean issues with the tablet. I mean what problems I am going to face with the US version of Galaxy Note 10.1 when I use it outside US, in Algeria? For example, will I miss some features and updates? Will I have problems with electricity...? You get the point
Sv: Are there any problems using N8013 outside US?
Since the US and Algeria may run on different 3G frequencies, you might have problems with the 3G service. I assume that the Note tablet is triple band so 2G won't be an issue, but 3G might be. The 4G or LTE is even worse, in Sweden where I live different phone companies have different frequencies, so if I buy my device from the wrong company it will be pretty much 3G only.

Tethering via wifi
Is this possible on the rom? I tried it just laughed at me and called me fat (well it did not work but hey) Making sure i did not miss something.
Did you try using Barnacle or the Wifi tethering for root users apps previously suggested for people with problematic tethering?
Fixing the built-in wifi tethering is a goal, but one that probably needs wifi itself to properly work first. Or at least, to work without needing to be activated through another script...

[Q] SmartStay on the Tab 2?

Hi all!, i have the GTab 2 7.0 with JellyBean 4.1.2 rooted, i know that there is the 4.1.2 but my version has IR.. but, my version doesnt have SmartStay, like the S3 and s4, and i heard that the 4.1.2 have that!, its from stock or a modification?
That is a feature of those devices not a feature of android 4.1.2, simply having android 4.1.2 wont automatically get you that feature. Unless a developer decides to take the time to try and port that feature (if it's even possible) to our tablet then we will not see it.

SmartStay has nothing to do with the IR, it's a thing that uses the front facing camera to tell whether or not your looking at the screen and turn the screen off if you aren't.

I know what smart stay is. The op said he had the gtab 2 7.0 with the ir blaster and wanted smart stay. Well, ripper ROM works on that tab, and supports both ir and smart stay. It works most of the time for me, if i am in portrait.

Yeah, it is not working for me now either. When I first installed this rom, it would at least detect them in portratit, maybe the lighting was better or something.
I use keep screen on, anyways. it keeps the screen on depending on the position of the tablet, upright vs flat.
Edit: yeah it depends on the lighting, because it is working fine now. When I move my head it starts to fadenthen when I bring my face back into view the screen comes back on. Still, keep screen on works better, great app.

I am guessing there isn't any difference between 7.0 and 10.1. I have asked in other forums and no one seems to have an answer. There was one other person with a Tab 2 7.0 with issues with NetFlix and Hulu Plus. Seems to be hit and miss.

I was told that my slower internet connection has a lot to do with it. Since it is in HD all the time, and doesn't change with your connection, it causes it to stutter.

I did a factory reset and still had issues so I did a second factory reset and made sure that google didn't install any apps that were on my account (went into play store and stopped the automatic installs after I added my account). Seems to be working now, so I guess there was a badly behaving app that I had installed. I am not sure what it was, I have reinstalled most of what I had on there before, it is still working.
I am going to have to try that. Thanks a lot.
