Switching carrier of GSIII - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Hello,
I am currently have an HTC One V on Virgin Mobile and was wondering if it would be possible to acquire a Samsung Galaxy SIII on Verizon and make it work as a functioning phone on the Virgin Mobile network. If you could assist me in doing so or point me in a direction where I could find out more about the process then that would be great.
I am already familiar with rooting and flashing custom ROMs. My HTC One V runs Cyanogenmod 10.1. But I do not know what I would necessarily need to do to get a different phone running on Virgin Mobile with my phone number and data, etc.
Thanks for your help,
Connor Elsea

Bump. If anyone could just tell me what to search for, or even how to get started on trying to figure this out, that would be great. Thanks!

[Q] Galaxy S, Cellular South network (MS)

Ok, so lately my family has been considering switching over to Cell South (we live in mississippi) due to ATT being hardasses about switching my dads phone over to his business account.
Cell south has the Galaxy S phones available, and its currently the leading phone they offer that i'm interested in, followed next by HTC desire.
From everything that i've gathered, they are not updating their android phones to 2.2 until sometime early next year. the Froyo update is one of the main reasons ive been wanting to switch to something over my iphone. Wifi tethering being the leading reason. I know this is doable with apps and a rooted phone.
From what i've gathered, i might be able to update it, but i might have to manually input the carrier info into the phone? Is there a way to tell for sure if this will need to be done? If anyone else happens to be on Cellular Souths network who had delt with updating their phones, i would love some help/info, or if anyone can point me the way, i'd be quite grateful.
I've just been taking in so much info about these phones over the past few days its starting to get a bit fuzzy in areas.
Also, is Rooting these devices the same as any other, regardless of which network you are on?
And just another quick Galaxy question, im not sure im crazy about the "touch-wiz" interface samsung has, and i think i would much rather be using the standard android UI. Is this something you can do by default on the phones, or do you have to do some of the rooting/other customizing things on it?
Thanks to anyone with any amount of information. getting excited to get away from apple.
You can change the input settings without rooting the phone. Z4mod on market is the best and easiest rooting method. Phidelt82 released a custom rom for the cs galaxy a few days ago. If you do get one and need any help pm me up.

[Q] Galaxy SII GT-I9100 doesn't get 3G on T-mobile network?

Hi guys.I have simple mobile sim card (which works with T-mobile towers) and I get galaxy sii gt-i9100 (universal version). the problem is I'm getting 2g (edge) speed only, I read that you can flash your radio firmware after rooting to get HSMA+ mode then you'll have the 3g\4g internet.I already rooted my device but I don't know what to do now!
please anyone can help?
I need some help about that too, I wish this post had more attention, and replies. So I'm kinda moving it up right now.
Btw it might be impossible for us to get 4g, but I'll be happier when I get 3g instead of 2g. so, I'm looking for a solution too, I'll keep you posted if I find anything helpful.

Unfortunately there is no solution for that. I already sold out my phone and got new Galaxy s3 (T-MOBILE VERSION) from ebay for 519$ and I'm enjoying the 4G bless..if you need any further assistance I'll be more than glad to help.

Captivate wifi calling with t-mobile sim card

Hi, I have a question about my Samsung captivate that is unlocked and running CM9. I have a phone plan with tmobile, and was wondering if I could get the wifi calling feature that is on the vibrant on my captivate. I am comfortable with flashing custom roms and the like, so if I have to make some changes, that is fine.
In short, my question is “Can I get the wifi calling app that is available on the tmobile vibrant on my unlocked captivate running CM9”.
Thanks, Ben Finch
I'm going to assume you have an up to date SIM from T-Mobile. Some older cards that came out just about the time the vibrant did were incompatible with Wi-Fi calling, and required people to get new ones. So, if it doesn't work, that's a possibility.
I work in a phone store, got to see that action first hand.
As for Wi-Fi calling, you shouldn't have to hack unless you're running a stock Rom on the captivate that has unknown source installations (side loading) blocked by default. If that's the case, browse the stickies.
Wi-Fi calling, last I checked, was simply a regular apk. Check out the vibrant and galaxy s 4g forums, I'm sure it's posted there somewhere. I'm out of town and using my phone, otherwise I'd be able to extract it from my wife's g2 and post it. PM me if you don't find it there, I think I can get it from my desktop eventually.

Hi Ben,
I'm having the same exact issue. Did you ever find a solution? If so, please advise. Both Samsung and T-Mobile reps say it's not possible to have Wi-Fi calling with Captivate. Seems there should be a way.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy SII SGH-I727R Help

Hello, I recently bought a Samsung Galaxy SII SGH-I727R from Rogers and unlocked it. I am now with Koodo Mobile and everything is working great except I cannot get LTE working, I only get 4G connection. I have check all APN settings and everything is correct, only thing I can think of is the LTE was locked to Rogers Firmware and it will not enable with the new carrier. If anyone has any tips or ways around this to get it working with my new carrier I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks

[Q] Super noob needs super help!!

So i got a verizon s3 from a friend since he updated to the s4 but im on tmobile and i was wondering if and how i could use it on the tmobile network. i have read that it is possible but i just dont know how to do it. any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
oh and ive already rooted my phone
thanks in advance!!
Search the development section for a thread titled "Set up Verizon Galaxy S3 as World GSM Phone" or another thread titled "Fully Working Verizon S3 n T-Mobile." You should only receive Edge data once it's fully working so you'll want a T-Mobile device if you want higher data speeds.
