I've had this same problem a while ago.
See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2070199 Post 6
I got the PC Companion program to recognize the phone and I was able to repair the firmware.
If you have no success with this method, can certainly by flashing the firmware (11.0.A.210 or 11.0.A.5.5) available on the forum with the tool flashtools.
Kind regards,
Jorge Moreira

Hi everybody, I have been thinking of buying a Xperia J, theres this one guy thats selling one at a really good price, but theres a problem with his set.
He says that his phone is facing some sort of a delayed touch response on his phone. Meaning the Touch screen works but everything responds after a second or two. He says theres no installed applications on the phone, so I dont think its a low memory problem causing this. He assures me that its not a hardware problem, and the problem will be solved with a update of the phones software. Now there is no official Sony Service centre where I live, so sending the unit for service at the local repair shops is out of the question.
Is this a common thing with the Xperia J? And can this actually be solved with a software update? Thanks!
There is the solution in this forum...search for it..

And I also forgot to mention that he said the touchscreen problems started after he mistakenly deleted some files on his phone. Now if this is a easily fixable problem then I would be glad to buy this device. So can anyone help me out here? Oh and if this question was asked and answered can you kindly post a link to that page here? Thanks.

First thing to do after you bought it: Do pc companion > repair my phone. Yes, its a pain to download that huge data, but its the only way to get a stock, and with proper localization firmware file. Then you can make it into .ftf for use with flashtool. Temporary solution: try installing first touchfwtools here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2068082 Just try it before buying that phone.

Hi, the seller did say that all the touch problems would be solved through the Sony desktop manager, however I do remain somewhat skeptical.
Do you think that would solve the touchscreen issues?
Thanks for that link, If I do go see that phone I will use it.
However I would like to make sure that this is a easily fixable problem before I go out and brave the horrible traffic jams in this country.
Is there anyone who has faced this sort of problem before with their Xperia J?

Bro,
Just call that guy to a place where you can get good internet speed...download pc companion.install it and then select the repair option...
Now this option will install the latest available official software on the device...there is nothing illegal in doing this nor can it harm the phone, provided that he has not unlocked bootloader.
If what he says is true( the touch response instability was due to deletion of system files) this should fix it...if it doesn't it's not a software complaint...do this in the other guy's presence so that he will not accuse u or point at you...
Sent from my C1604 using xda app-developers app
If we had good internet in my country I would have done exactly that. However the Sony updates are huge and the only place where we can meet where there is internet is in a cyber cafe, and the speeds there hovers around 40-80 kbps, so that option is out of the question. I guess Ill just demand some sort of a guarantee from the guy and find out (hopefully not the hard way) if it really is a software problem. Either that or I dont buy that set at all. Thanks everyone, unless there is someone out in the forums who has experienced (and hopefully solved) the exact same problem on their Xperia J, I guess theres nothing left to do now.
Sent from my AT300 using xda app-developers app
40 kBps isn't that bad...isn't it kiloBYTESper second...
With that speed it would take just two hours...if u can't do that....leave it...best of luck........

I tried to be more specific since i started the thread, sorry if i couldn't provide enough info for you my friend i will try to be more detailed for you now if i can.
So my friend has this phone, Miro, she doesn't know much from technology and stuff so i told her to help her out, and i want to get some help from previous owners or anyone that could possibly help me,
So i open the phone from the button, normally, it boots normally, and while on the pin screen, the touch screen doesn't work/respond, and it restarts itself in a loop going in the same position again and again, my idea was to update it, maybe it would work that way, today i will get the phone and try to sort the problem out, i downloaded Sony PC Companion on my pc, but i don't know if this is enough, that's why i need you now, maybe you can suggest me some other kind of solution..
Thanks for responding kreatonn
Sent it to Sony service like lozohcum post might help. The phone is still in warranty?? If still, then it's good.

I SOLVED THE PROBLEM MYSELF! and NO i never take my phone to support because it takes too long and it just comes back unsolved or replaced without actually fixing the problem
So after searching for many minutes of my life through sites and articles, i came up with one about recovering bricked phones, well i wasn't able to use Sony PC Companion because it wouldn't detect it. Or it would but it would restart itself and lose the connection in seconds...
The solution is to FLASH the original firmware with Flashtool
So to solve the mystery
1. Download the original firmware from the xperia collection: HERE
2. Download Flashtool
After all of this history, be sure to get all the drivers needed for the phone you have, if you have windows 7 it will download them automatically if you run and try to flash it since it detects and downloads them with windows update, or else you have to get drivers for your miro and install also the drivers that flashtool needs you to install (it has a folder drivers on it's installation directory)
So when you install Flashtool, Open Flashtool, and Turn off your phone (Remove the battery, and put it back after a few seconds), Do not turn on your phone, just put it on the USB port with the cable.
On Flashtool
1. Put the downloaded firmware into the installation directory of Flashtool, inside the folder, "Firmwares"
2. Open Flashtool (or 64bit version if your windows is 64bit)
3. Press the Thunder, and choose Flashmode
4. On the window that appears, choose MIRO's FIRMWARE and hit OK
Now it has this screen where it waits for you to do something with the usb. It's easy
5. While your phone is turned OFF completely and is probably charging on the USB, Press the VOLUME DOWN button and turn on your phone, the LED will turn GREEN or BLUE i think.
6. The program automatically detects the phone and starts flashing the original firmware
So after that i waited like 2 mins to complete the flashing on Flashtool, and 5 minutes to open the mobile (first time is always slow)
and it would respond, the touch screen and everything.
Thanks for your responses!

Just flash the latest stock ftf via flashtool.. And if you want a simpler way you can use sony update service(SUS) to flash stock ROM..
