Many of the Moto X features don't work well without those extra coprocessors.
For example, the Active Display work in Omni so far hasn't been very promising. Lots of power management issues.

Yeah, as Entropy said, this is mainly possible on the Moto X because it has an entire core dedicated to voice recognition and processing of other touchless control features

Ringtone/Notification volume separator?

A feature of CM I always like was the ability to control ringtone and notification volumes independently. This is not possible with the N5/4.4.
There are some apps our there that claim to give you power over volumes, but I feel like these apps don't achieve my goal if the ability to separate the two isn't a stock function.
Does anyone know of a way to make this work or a framework that would allow for this?
Many thanks.
there is an xposed module (Ringer & Notification Volume Unlink) that does this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2416768
but xposed framework does not support android 4.4 yet, so u have to wait..

best app i've seen so far for this is ultimate sound control (pro and lite versions available): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.steinapps.ultimatesoundcontrol
it does require root, and has some pretty powerful functions. it was also featured in the portal a few weeks ago: http://www.xda-developers.com/andro...und-control-for-your-device-xda-developer-tv/
check it out when you get a chance.
I've been trying out Sound Profile which lets you separate volume but a whole lot more. It's a full sound/toggle profile app and appears to be working very well so far. What's really cool is that you can change sounds per profile, as well as toggles like BT, WiFi, GPS, etc.
It looks like Volume Butler as also suggested is extremely similar. I will give that one a whirl too.
It doesn't let you modify all of the system level type sounds like Ultimate Sound Control (if that's something you desire).
looks like xposed is finally 4.4, trying to figure out how to do this with xposed.
If you use xposed I know Gravitybox has this incorporated.

two thumbs up for Volume Butler
as a former galaxy family user (S2, S3 and S4) the first thing I've missed on LG Nexus5 was a manner to control the volume independently (ringtone, notifications, media). After a quick search on google I got in this thread.
My handset just arrived about three days ago and to be extremely honest I'm wondering if should I root it right now or in the near future. While I did not come to a decision I've decide to give Volume Butler a try.
Just install a free version from Play Store and it works exactly how it promises, it is possible to control ringer, notification, media, alarm, in-call and speakerphone as individual items and you can create profiles based on a schedule to manage this items. I did't play with this app enough (got no time), but it's seems to be a great try for anyone who looks for this functionality.
Thanks for share!

yep, xposd+GB give rooted stock rom wings
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
If you want to run ART (which xposed obviously doesn't support), I know Cataclysm ROM has a toggle to separate the ringer/notification volume settings.
I agree, Cataclysm ROM has that feature to seperate, based on stock with many added features, and still can run ART versus Xposed. Depends on what you want to do with features or if you'd like AOSP.
[NO root required] Profiles Plus app is working fine. It is free and works with lollipop. It is working like a charm for my Xperia Z2 and Nexus 5 to successfully separate the ringer and notification volumes.

[Q] Moto G Assist, Camera & Gallery for AOSP/CM

Hey guys,
I searched the web and haven't found much. What's really keeping me from going to a custom rom - be it GPE/AOSP (like Paranoid Android) or CM-Based - are those 3 features (Moto Assist, Camera, Gallery - even Radio FM). Sadly I only found negative evidence.
Are there any apks of those apps out there that work 100% on AOSP/CM-based roms? Or alternatives that have the same simplicity of design and functions?
Thanks in advance.
Cheers

Alternatives :
1. Assist - Quiet hours in various roms or profiles option.
2. Camera - In my opinion, the AOSP camera is much better than the stock camera application. The only thing missing is slow motion recording.
3. Gallery - There are many gallery applications available on the play store.
4. FM Radio - All of the roms I have flashed till now had a FM Radio app. And it also allows you to play the audio via the external speaker.

Thanks for answering mate, much appreciated.
1. Main feature I use from Assist is that the phone goes quiet during an calendar appointment and auto replies to favorite calls (family). Can't find a similar app that just does that and/or doesn't have a bulky, ugly interface.
2. agreed, but Google Camera doesn't support panorama nor slow motion + HDR on the Moto G
3. tried a few. Again I like the simple, unbulky Moto Gallery with sidebar and autohide status bar feature.
Did no one ever try to port those 3 apps? :/ I can't be the only one wondering/asking this.

1. No that feature is not there in AOSP ROMs.
2. I'm taking about the AOSP camera and not the Google camera. In the AOSP camera we have panaroma and HDR. The only thing missing is the slow motion capture.
3. If you want simplicity then the AOSP gallery is good. The only thing not available is the sidebar.
Sent from my Moto G using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I don't remember if it does the auto-SMS, but Llama (FOSS, on the Play Store) can certainly use the calendar plus a whole bunch of other conditions to silence the phone, change "profiles" (enabling things like different ringtones at home and work, or silencing/changing some notification with the LlamaTones ringtone selector) and generally trigger actions.

Exactly same situation here. I'm torn between staying stock and going CM but loosing these three apps.
Moto camera and gallery apps are absolutely the best around. AOSP gallery is outdated and downright ugly. Also, there is no gallery app that performs nearly as smooth as moto gallery.
It shouldn't be THAT hard to port these apks, right?
I'm not giving up
Moto G Camera App - don't know if it's CM only - (zip also seems to include Gallery)
Found a Thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2614700
"dhacker archieved to get the native moto g camera app working --> loki.rombitch.com/Devs/Dhacker29/MotoCamera442.zip"
Moto G Assist, apparently only for CM 11 (maybe CM based also, maybe PA, don't know)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=52202333
I've no way to check these since I haven't rooted my phone.
Maybe someone wants to try and report back. Would be very appreciated.
Cheers

[Q] Fave rom?

Seems like "what's the best rom" is not a helpful question...not even "what's the best rom for battery life/speed/etc" because there are too many variables and people use their phones differently under different conditions.
So, I'd like to know - what's your favorite rom is for the Photon Q, and why?
My favorite is CM 11, because of speed and because swipe-down status bar & tiles are super useful. It's also updated frequently, so hopefully I can get more out of the phone as time goes on.
Thoughts?
i like the mokee rom most, i tryed it because its the only rom for xt897 that support REAL multi-window
the new love was born. there are much features and better then in cm. an other part i love is the lockscreen notification
u can use the black ActiveDisplay feature like moto x. but the accu prefomance is also great. there is nothing i miss.
its really the best only the update function suck ;D
there are constant updates its on 4.4.4 jbbl
http://download.mokeedev.com/?device=moto_msm8960_jbbl&type=release

App for replace active notifications in moto x with CM 12

Hi peoples, i bring here a app very cool.
With it we can simulate the active notifications, works so fine... Is totaly customizable.
I use it with new CM 12 and works very well...
Search for "Dinamic Notifications" on play store. (I can't post links here, i'm new in forum...)
Enjoy and sorry my bad english...
Its better AcDisplay
i think acdisplay it's better
is AcDisplay, or other analog use "native" support moto x? (battery discharge in compare with stock moto x)

Pie controls

Okay so I was very afraid of having a larger screened phone because I truly don't like to use two hands with my phone 90% of the time. So I've been using pie controls for years and I have to say I've really really found that using them has made my 7pro AMAZING but large screen much easier to use for switching apps or toggling wifi/data or any other settings. Truly I know it's like Samsung edge drawer or whatever it's called but honestly it's better. Instant access to atleast 20 apps without having to go back to home screen than back to the app drawer or folder and select the app. IMO one of the best "mods" or apps for a larger phone with so much ram for multitasking. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jun.ace.piecontrol
I was using Pie control for a long time and finally switched to this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ivianuu.pie
looks much nicer and has many options

swipe right on the notification, tap on the cogwheel and disable notifications for the app
Do any of you have following problem with pie control : in full screen apps like camera, video, even picture or games I cannot see pie when I swipe, I feel it vibrates no I cannot see it and what it's the worst part if I'm in camera for example and "blindly" (as I cannot see it) use for example back function it works but then app I non responsive (it works but doesn't see my touches) and I need to "blindly" use pie control to switch to home/other app and go back. Then it works again until I use pie control again, it it annoying... It only behaves like that if I have navigation gestures activated (to hide the navbar), wieh navbar on it works ok but the whole point is to not have it and use full screen experience...

Yeah I had this problem with app from the first post, just tested the one from your link and so far it works fine in all apps
Ya'll should try Leedroid's Shortcutter, been using since first initial release. App drawer(you select) can open from the right left and now from bottom.

Been using this apk since nexus 6p. It's absolutely amazing.
On Samsung this what I use. It blows Edge away.
Uses almost no battery, freeware, no ads or crap.
One Hand Operation + - Apps on Google Play
Use your device easily with only one hand !

Unfortunately the awesome aspects of that where it users no battery and all that jazz is because it is built into your OS. There are a few mod apps like that in the "Good Lock" family that actually are pretty nice on Samsung. They do us no good over here though.

Edge* isn't that awesome and definitely uses more battery than One Handed Operation plus**, however the latter may be compatible only with Samsung phones.
One of the biggest reasons to choose Samsung is it's none root customization. The best ones come from the Galaxy Store. Hundreds of free themes, icon packs, AODs, and much more.
No other brand comes close.
*I use it for cut/paste management only. Other apps like One Handed Operation plus is superior in every way to Egde.
**not a native apk but one of the best 3rd party apks for the 10+ Rock solid stable.
