GT-B9150 Samsung Homesync *ROOT* - Miscellaneous Android Development

so i will start off by saying i was disappointed when i got this device because i thought it had full access to the Google play store when only 5% or less apps work, none of which i want (Netflix, hulu, plex etc. not there) i was looking for this device to be both a media server/gaming device for some asphalt 8/real racing action. etc. so i am starting this thread to hope it attracts attention and we can get someone to help us root it because if we can accomplish that i heard of a program called market helper that would trick the market into thinking we are using an s4 or something.

Thanks for starting it. I am in the same situation. Just for the context, it has Exynos 5250 dual core processor @1.7ghz and a 1TB hard drive inside mounted with ext4 in /storage/emulated/0 (also /sdcard etc.).
I'm trying to root it since a week now without success. I tried to flash self-made boot.tar with boot.img inside using Odin 3.09, but it FAILS. Same goes for pre-rooted system.img. It seems that this bootlader has a lock and it's checking signature, since we can't sign it like Samsung, it refuses to flash. Heimdall 1.4.0 also fails with a message stating "failed to confirm end of file transfer sequence". I've tried some chinese websites root method, but it also did not work (Odin does not flash the root file).
I've downgraded from Oct 2013 firmware to an ealiest one that I could find : B9150ZSABME2_B9150OZSBME2_TGY from May 2013. With this, I ran Cydia Impactor on it and it was able to place /system/xbin/su into the system partition. However, it is not setuid root, thus when I run su, it just waits forever. I don't know how the exploit can place the binary there but not make it setuid root. Supersu.apk is also installed, but it does not launch normally and dies.
The Impactor is able to run a telnetd server as "system" user, but system user also can't setuid root the su binary. It can't mount system RW. Impactor can't launch a telnet server as root neither.
I've tried some other exploits that were found for S4 (pwn etc. ), DoomLord v17. It all failed. I also tried SRS One Click Root, and Chinese eroot, they also failed. I'm now out of ideas and appreciate if anyone would have any idea.
I am attaching partition layout. I can also send the kernel if necessary.

okay so this is what i have done so far, i know nothing about developing a root procedure but i am very impatient.
nova launcher installed (forced landscape in nova settings and now every app loads landscape like it should)
Blackmart (this is where i will be downloading all my apps from straight to the device)
got angry birds installed as a test app (worked perfectly)
did all this in a few minutes before i went to bed and will keep exploring tonight, hope this helps some people who own the device. next im going to try and install a FPS or racing game and see how that turns out.

Erik10002, I've also installed Nova, but then you lose the status bar as the notifications on Samsung firmware is a bit diferent (on upper left side with an indicator count). I'm not sure if it would be usable without status bar. (or am I mistaken? ie where the running program icons shall be seen as well as the clock, etc.).
It seems that our device has some kind of kernel protection or capability restriction to run setuid root su binary, according to Saurik himself. So I will try to further think how it can be overcome.

How do you enter download mode on this thing?

Two methods :
1) power off. Then press function button, hold it, then press power button. Led will be red. This is download mode
2) enable developer mode, usb debugging. Then connect it to your pc with its micro USB port and run adb reboot download
If you want recovery, adb reboot recovery

not a glimmer of hope for root on this device so far :crying:

Yes unfortunately nobody seems to be interested. I also gave up and using it stock now. Except the issue of not being able to write timestamps on internal files, it's OK. For timestamps issue, I just use an external USB and use internal ones for files where I don't care about creation modification times. (ie movies etc)
I want to try to open its case to see if hdd is replaceable and if I can externally set 777 permissions on files which may help me set timestamps. Any clue how this box can be opened?

Don't know how to open it up and yes it is a shame as I was looking for this to be an android multimedia powerhouse and Android game console and those dreams got crushed although I got real racing up and running (and it runs smoothly) and get all my apps/games through blackmart alpha I have been to lazy to get an android gaming controller and am currently just using the box as a backup for my Galaxy devices but will venture further eventually. Surprised this thread I started hasn't got more attention because when I type Samsung homesync root into Google this is the 2nd link on the page I think. I will keep praying, one day, one day!
Sent from my SM-N900W8 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

In fact it's still OK. I'm running SMB server and SSH server on it. They run on non standard ports but all my pc are Linux so it's not an issue.
I have Torrent for downloading, Xbmc for media, bittorent sync for syncing. Biggest annoyance is the timestamp issue that's bugging all phones and tablets with ext4 sdcards and that play store is a joke with nearly all apps not compatible while most of them run just fine. Why did Sammy do something like this is beyond my understanding.

So this device is not getting any attention from the devs? Hope it will be rooted one day. It has got way more potential than what it is now.

I think this device has powerful hardware specs but poor software, Wish someone find a way to root it so we can use it more effective

I do believe that this device will not have great success.
The first point is that it is only devoted to Samsung devices. Why ? I have another android Phone and I cannot use this stuff...
If I have to spend 300 Euro for a device that requires other samsung device, this is a closed one like a MAC and I dislike it.

You can install homesync apk by side loading at least on some Android phones and tablets, as far as I read in some Websites. You could give it a try.

Yeah. Samsung has extended support to other Android devices for homesync app. Despite hearing so many negative reviews on this device, I shomehow enjoy using it. I'm using the device everyday for media consumption everyday without fail.

How does XBMC run on this thing? And does the Homesync Phone Remote Control work within XBMC? Thats the main reason I'm looking to get this device quite honestly.
Thanks a lot.

I saw the rooting method on a Chinese site. I'm thinking about buying this Homesync for HD Player and torrent download.

[Rom] [CruzControlMOD] [Micro Velocity Cruz T301]

I soon will be getting a T301 (About 1pm or so today) and word on the street is that its been out while and no one has made any custom roms for it, Therefore im going to take a crack at it and see what i can do. This is my first tablet so be prepared for trial and error but I sure won't do a half-ass job on my work. Now heres a couple of things to come:
De-Odex
Custom Boot Animation
Custom Theme
New Keyboard With Demon Speed Tweaks
Plenty Of Under The Hood Tweaks
There will definitely be alot more (Hopefully), While at this time im not actually positive what this tablet is actually capable of but i will definitely have an update of whats to come by 3:00 after i test it and such.
Having any luck?
Hey well I hope there is someone that can make a custom rom for this tablet...here is some information ive been able to find out... From Rooting and Installing market:
TO Root Tablet..
After Installing "jdk-6u25-windows-i586" and "android-sdk_r11-windows" and "ADB_usb_driver"
Connect your device via USB.
Now, hold the Windows Key and press R. Type cmd in the box and press Enter.
In the Command window, type
cd/
and hit enter. Now type
cd android-sdk-windows
then type
cd platform-tools
and hit enter. Now here is where you will begin rooting the device. Type the following
adb devices "I did this to make sure the device was listed"
adb shell
and hit enter. you should now have a # sign.
Now Type
mount -o rw,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
hit enter, then type
cat /system/bin/sh > /system/bin/su
hit enter, then type
chmod 4755 /system/bin/su
hit enter, now type
sync
hit enter then finally type
reboot
and hit enter. Your device will reboot. When it comes back on it will be rooted!
-------------------------------------------------------
To Install Market
Okay,
The following list includes the exact google apps package I used, and the order in which the extracted apk's were installed...
google apps package : PM me if you want the link...xda says after 8 posts I can posts links
Only use hdpi package for CyanogenMod 6, otherwise the apk version will be wrong
and with this apps package, I extracted all of the apk's inside, and used "all" of them.
They were installed in the following order :
app 1=genie widget apk
app 2=google backup transport apk
app 3=google contacts sync adapter apk
app 4=google feedback apk
app 5=google partner setup apk
app 6=google services framework apk
app 7=google voice apk
app 8=kickback apk
app 9=market updater apk
app10=media uploader apk
app11=network location apk
app12=setup wizard apk......
note: setup wizard apk is needed for the log in scripts to google market, and google talk respectively..
app13=soundback apk
app14=google talk apk
note: I believe google talk is the engine used for the market portal access....so you must install..
app15=vending apk
note: vending apk is installed last just prior to reboot of the cruz tablet...
this is the exact order of install from the above apps package I used....and I have 2 working cruz tablets with market access, google talk, and gmail.
Note: gmail apk is not included in the above apps package, and is downloaded from the market once it's working.
Note: dont be worried about space for the apk's. After the flash card partitions made in the 2.2 firmware update, you should have nearly 425 megabytes of application space remaining for apps later on. And the total size for the apps package is only 18 meg.
-------------------------------------
To Reset Market:
Thing is, I've found that a number of apps that don't appear in the Market still install just fine. For example, I can't locate Maps in the market, but it works, as does the similarly invisible Dolphin HD. There are hacks for the Market that are used to allow QVGA phones to see items that aren't specifically tagged as QVGA-compatible, so there may well be similar hacks to allow us to see more. (It may or may not install, but at least we'd have the chance to try.)
Tv
Edit: found a note on the Web re: the Market. An Archos user found that if you follow these steps:
Go to Settings - Applications - Manage Applications - All tab;
Go to the "Market" app: "Clear Cache" then "Force Stop" — DO NOT Clear data;
Go to the "Google Services Framework" app: "Clear data" then "Force Stop";
Reboot your machine;
Restart the Market application. It may force close for the first run, ignore it and restart it again.
I would absolutely LOVE a custom rom OR even just a workaround that disables the notification bar from appearing on touch events in a full screen app.
Anybody want to tackle that one?
Cruz T301 Mods
I found some good information on Slatedroid.com The forum link is listed below.
http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/21572-guide-cruz-t10x-t301-rooting-dalvik-turbo-removing-bloatware-gapps-market-more/
I used this method on two T301's and it worked great.
would love to see a custom rom for Cruz T-Series
would definitely donate as well. i think lots of people would especially with christmas coming and these things so cheap! also some other MIPS based devices with ICS are coming out so it would be a good learner for some people maybe.
i would love an AP included and i hear that this is what may be slowing up some other people right now other than just recently receiving source from Ingenic.
Its a great machine regardless, at least for the price.
anyway, this place is great and you all have helped me quite a bit. PLease let me know if there is anything i can do for you..
please stop
lets keep the market and the retardation out of this thread please. stop using incorrect terms to your post saying rooting your device. the CRUZ T301 IS ROOTED ALREADY. the commands you used gave you read write access. so please STOP WITH THE DUMB POST AND CALLING THIS ROOT. okay. now that we have that covered lets stop posting stuff that is covered in other forums. goochbuntu.com has better steps to make the market work. and even fixing the already rooted device fixing the su. so we can install and use rooted apps. okay now thats said..
okay lets focus on custom roms here or cynogenmod or something useful.
if you want to post useless info go back to slatedroid site
Technically correct and equal in value...

im looking for sum help as well. also where would be the best place to get the gapps? any help would be much apreciated
Okay update on root and by the way I have a Velocity Micro Cruz Reader just in case anyway I've successfully rooted my device using the method above but some reason I can't get my Market to work. I've been able to install apps like, Titanium Backup, SetCPU, Advanced Task Killer Pro and some other rooted apps but it still seems a little sluggish. I know its just a reader but I know it can put more. Ive been reading around but still haven't found a decent Rom or a recovery. It'll be greatly appreciated for a little guidance. Not to get off topic but My experience with android:
First Huawei Ascend, this phone introduced me to the Android OS and fell in love ever since. I flashed many roms to it starting with Cyanogen. Right now I have a HTC Evo 4G with SOS v 1.9. If someone needs help with something not saying I can do it but I'm willing to give it a try just shoot me a line and be glad to give my input. And LETS KEEP THIS THREAD ALIVE we need more support for this device. The possibilities are endless besides the 256 ram lol. Thanks
I've been lucky enough to find some gapps from the XDA threads. Just grabbing when I can because I haven't found a complete file folder but I believe if you keep looking you'll find them. Have you tried Slatedroid, they also have support for the Velocity MICRO, you might find those apps their. I love my Cruz can't wait to flash a rom like cyanogen and clockwork recovery. But any suggestions would be great thanks.
CWM for T301 is here

-- VM Cruz T105/PT701 XDA Premium --
If you head over to the Velocity Cruz section on Slate Droid you will see there is a new rom that was released 1/10/2012
how did you get setcpu installed. I followed a slatedroid thread and my buddies 310 seems to be rooted and such correctly but i can not get setcpu to install and can not seem to overclock it.
tried using cpu master pro but it just wont overclock past the 528
cant see setcpu in store and when i put the apk on the sd it just says app not installed.
so im guessing this rom is not happening right?
Thanks for the info. A couple of weeks ago Dad bought one of these T301 on Ebay for $20.00. It took a day or two but they called up and want to root, and get market on it. I was just looing at 4z, z4? Forgot but I bookmarked it as a get back to item. I looked at it and got the impression, "Gee thats nice, not worth messing with but nice."

I guess this is not happening +1
I also have a T301, and I know the filesystem comes with root access, but I have installed all that there is to install, from these forums, and the slatedroid forums.
I have froyo installed, but have never been able to install the VitalSource Bookshelf apk. I would like to use it to view my school textbooks, which is why I bought the tablet in the first place.
Today, I got this bug, up my behind (figuratively), and decided to see if their is anything that I can do about it. I have all the mips git repositories installed, along with an uncompressed stock update image.
What android version should I try to port? --> not that I know how to do that yet, but if there is a way, I will find it scouring the xda forums.
The Rasberry pi people seem to be making headway on porting ICS, so that may be a viable solution. Other than mips arch, this tablet has very similar specifications to a Rasberry pi.
The CDD for ICS says it needs like 379MB ram, and this tablet has only 256MB, but hey, so does the original RPI
What do you think?
---------- Post added at 04:04 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:56 PM ----------
Sorry, I just wanted to follow this thread also.
I am sure it is doable, I just have to find some free time. This time of year there is not a lot of time for me to sit down and figure this out. Hopefully I can get something going by Jan/Feb after the holiday season is over
....assuming the world does not end
t301 custom rom
ok,
So, this is what I have so far......
I'm sure that we can agree that the T301 uses an Ingenic JZ4760 processor. The JZ4760 processor uses mips32-r1 code. It is FP compatible. The JZ4770 on the other hand is a mips32-r2 code device.
There are also some other differences in the CPU's. I think video could also be a problem. The JZ4770 has a much nicer video module.
I think that we will need a custom build.
Is there a place that we can find the drivers to build or do we need to write our own?
ICS seems to be built on a newer kernel version, and mips technologies has released the 3.0.8 kernel, so I think that will be ok to build the ASOP, but I am sure the drivers will be the problem
I tore the tablet open, took some pictures, and made a list of the parts the I will most likely need to make drivers for.
I will attach the list, but it is a work in progress
Support over on SlateDroid
I am currently working with the T100 series, I don't think we should push any higher than GB for these tablets, seeing as how they run a max of 600MHZ. My friend developer was able to get the Ainol Novo 4.0 running on it, but he said it was far beyond usable. I am trying to get him to pass me the information that he had compiled into it so I can continue support of the device. I think I have a work around for Flash, and other specs... but I am waiting for my device to be returned to me since I had to RMA it due to bricking. I will post a thread over on SlateDroid and you can follow progress there. Once I get a functional rom that boots I will then post here at XDA. I am aiming to Odex since that will add speed, and debloat along with Market support. 2.2 will be the first release and once I can get that compiled 2.3 will happen. I will continue to play around with the idea of ICS, but once again due to low power I don't think it would be truly worth it...

Root Achieved for Le Pan TC 970

EDIT 12/13/2011:
Instructions to Root the le pan tab tc970 from whatid (THANK YOU!!)
"Here are the steps (to root) for newbies.
1. Download the packages from OP (Post #1). Assume you are using windows, you don't need LinuxDriver.7z.
2. Use http://www.7-zip.org/ to unpack onto your computer.
3. On your TC970, hit home->Menu
4. Applications -> Development
5. Check "USB debugging", optionally some suggest checking "Stay awake"
6. Connect your TC970 to your PC, when prompted new hardware detected. Select the Windows Drivers directory you unpacked in.
7. Once driver is installed, run "SuperOneClick.exe"
8. Just click "Root" under the "Universal" tab and wait.
** It will prompt you to install BusyBox during the first time, just install it **
9. When it is done, it will prompt you.
From dbaybay's experience (thank you for your continual help in leading the le pan community through the growing pains!!!):
If you ever have to root your tab again (say after upgrading the firmware), when you root it the first time, open up SuperUser before rebooting and Menu > Options/Prefs and choose "update binaries". Then reboot and your root will stick the first time around.
If everything seems ok, turn off your TC970 by holding on the power button. Power up again, and see if root stay (use Root Checker Basic).
If not, repeat step 6 (no need to install driver again) until you have root after reboot."
Also a big thanks to nehinbin for giving the community insider info with regard to the tablet and firmware v2 which you can find here:
http://lepan.supportsync.com/articles/view/Latest_Firmware_for_LePan_TC_970_Tablet_Computer_11
For the brave or fool hardy, here is a link which will direct you to directions on how to port CWM to a new, as of yet unsupported device (like the 970):
http://www.koushikdutta.com/2010/10/porting-clockwork-recovery-to-new.html
AND HOT OFF THE PRESS FROM cas_xp:
"I am still waiting mine to be shipped. (should be today or tomorrow) Can not wait!
But if anyone is interested, I attached a tool to extract Le Pan update package as
Kernel
ramdisk
recovery
system
...
For somehow, the system is compressed and not yaffs2 or other format. I am trying to figure it out."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have achieved root using a modified superoneclick 2.2 on my Le Pan TC 970!!!!!
Credit to all devs who produced superoneclick and associated root methods!!!!
I wish I could take some sort of techie credit for this, but I did it by swapping the adb file and associated .dlls in superoneclick with some that I procured from *somewhere*.
The root is not permanent, but for someone with far more experience in android than i, i am sure it could be used to develop a permanent root.
If there are people out there who would like to take this to the next level, send me a pm and ill see about getting you the files to repeat what i have done.
-DerKoch
NOTE:
After reboot when trying to gain elevated privileges on the device i get the error:
link_image[1995]: failed to link su
CANNOT LINK EXECUTABLE
Could be a useful starting place.
-DK
EDIT:
Nuts to it. The Superoneclick i modified to gain root is now attached. It is only modified for and works in windows as i didnt feel like farting around with the linux version.
Good luck with the permanent root.
-DK
ANOTHER EDIT:
I have updated the post and am including the missing files.
Dont ask where i got them and, as usual, if you screw up your new toy with anything you find here, i am not in any way responsible. Rooting or altering your tablet beyond what is allowed by the eula of your device will almost certainly void your warranty and piss off the people to whom you are trying to return the device once broken beyond your ability to repair.
YOU ARE WARNED
ALSO, It looks like the tablet hardware was designed by innocomm. you can find this if you download the 4431 update from le pan http://www.sendspace.com/file/sunmks . For some reason the firmware update is not openly available...... Well now it is. Just click on the above link and download at your leisure.
the 970 uses the 3e recovery and what looks like a modified 3e or 2e (i cant remember which at the moment) for the firmware update supplied by le pan.
This firmware package contains a MLO file (35.1kB) which i assume is a shell script (although the text encoding eludes me *encrypted maby*), iboot.ism (131.1 kB) which i think it the, you guessed it, bootloader the tablet uses during the flash process, and griffin.ifw (99.1 MB) which is the firmware. There are a whole bunch of apks included as well so non-market apps are enabled by default and you are told to install them after you upgrade the tablet.
all of the documentation for the 970 is written in mandarin, so for all non speakers, good luck with that
I cant seem to decompile griffin.ifw into anything useful, but then again, i am no firmware expert. I am sure some of you would be able to poke around and get it to open-sesamie.
If you are successful, please post how ya done it here so we, myself included, can learn a thing or two.
Best,
DK
Thank you!!
I just wanted to thank you for figuring out as much as you did. I wish I was even on your level but hopefully I will be one day soon. Anyway, you're awesome!
Edit: I was also able to root my le pan tc970 and it is permanent. It got stuck in a rebooting loop but i just hit the reset button on the back and it turned on just fine. I did have to reinstall all my apps as well but everything is fine now so thanks to you and the developers.
Damn. 147 views and no feedback. Kinda quiet in here .....
When I run the SuperOneClick you posted, it stops responding when it tries to restart the adb server and it just hangs...any thoughts?
Yeah. I forgot to post the other needed files (One might even be able to call them a hardware - software interface if you get my drift. These aren't supposed to be available to the public. ) Im away from my computer, but ill put them up when I get home.
Help the community
Hey all,
it comes to my attention that i forgot to post all of the files i have from *somewhere* to make this work. i have what one might call a bleeding heart for people who put themselves at risk to help others and the person who helped me was exceptionally kind in this regard.
please do me a personal favor and call le pan customer support and hound them regarding making the files-who-will-not-be-named publicly available. the phone number is: 1-855-537-2672 (1-855-LePanPC). tell them you are developing software, and have to be able to access the tablet through adb, not just mass storage which regularly fails and screen locks the device. also tell them how disappointed you are with the total inability to use it while it is connected to your computer in mass storage mode, because it constantly chokes on itself and requires a hard reset to get it back up and running. if you are lucky, they might help you out.
if there is enough pressure, i hope these required files will become publicly available and my conscience with releasing these files will become clear.
if you need the other files to get this to work because you are a dev working to open the 970 to comply with the gnu/gpl license they have flaunted by taking the froyo os and NOT RELEASING ANY SOURCE CODE *OR DRIVERS* (GRRRRRRR!!!!), please send me a pm and ill get them to you.
Best
Permanent Root - Le Pan TC 970
Thanks again for the drivers. Now that they are public we can post in this thread instead of PM.
In response to your first post, my device seems to be permanently rooted. I have restarted it several times after the initial root and still retain full access to the superuser bin.
Off topic: The USB wall charger just burned out in mine and I've only had it for a day. I'm going to see if Le Pan would just send me a replacement charger instead of having to exchange the whole product with Amazon. I wold like to get some more hands-on time with it.
Other than that charger issue I find it to be a superb tab.
I have no idea why launchers in the market place are blocked on this device but you can get around this by downloading the apk's and manually installing directly on device.
How exactly did you get a permanent root? Or more appropriately, what was your process for doing it in the first place?
I cannot seem to get mine to root at all
Succesfully Applied Root to my TC970
Makes tablet that much more awesome. It's one of the few Android tablets with a 9.7" 4:3 ratio screen. But, the stock resolution on this thing is wayyy to big. I set it down to 180 with LCDDensity, and it looks great. Thanks for the awesome help folks.
nevermind, I got it working. Now all I need to get working is LCDDensity without locking the tablet up on reboot and I'm golden! Thanks a lot guys!
I was having the same problem as you. Actually, when I first rooted, all my apps broke. So, i wiped to factory(on the latest firmware, re-rooted, ran LCDDensity, and was good to go. Then all my apps ran fine, and it didn't lock up on reboot.
Step 1: Enable USB debugging on device (Settings>Applications>Development>USB debugging)
Step 2: Download windows ADB drivers and modified Super One Click 2.2 from the first post in the thread.
Step 3: Plug in device and install drivers through device manager / new hardware detection wizard.
Step 4: Open modified Super One Click 2.2 (with admin privileges depending on your OS version).
Step 5: Click the "Root" button.
... and that's for permanent root? I just bought one of these from Amazon for $170... so I'm hoping I can root it in the hopes of some ICS magic in the weeks/months to come!
I wouldnt hold my breath for a full ics experience. ics is very graphics intensive in comparison to 2.2 and without any hardware acceleration it would be a very slow, somewhat irritating experience.
I believe it would be better to develop an upgraded/modified 2.2 or 2.3 build for the 970 as neither are that demanding in the graphics realm.
Best,
DK
I have confirmed with Le Pan tech support that this tab wouldn't be getting any more official OS updates but they may publish bug fixes in future firmware updates.
In their words:
"The TC970 runs 2.2 which is a completely different platform than 3.0+.
Google rushed its release to compete against Apple so it's lacking a lot of support. This OS is not upgradable to anything beyond 2.2.
Le Pan plans to release a new tablet with a new OS that will come out early next year.
Sorry for the inconveniences, we really wish 2.2 would be upgradable to 4.0 or even 2.3 but it just isn't possible. "
...
"The current model TC970 will not be getting any OS updates but will receive firmware updates when needed."
We are on our own to port 2.3.x on this tab.
So, I ran the root exploit and then tried to run LCDDensity and my tablet crapped out.
I then booted into recovery and just did a complete reset, when I came back to the tablet interface I found that Superuser was still installed, and it was rooted permanently. Weird, but i'll take it! I've since have tested it out and restarted the tablet to confirm that it is indeed permanent.
It is. DerKoch, I cannot thank you enough for the help here, amazing!
Thank you, but remember to also thank the development people over at superoneclick. I just modifyed their application. A lot of hard work went into their program. All I did was have the right tools at hand to make their stuff work with the 970 and know where the current failings were with accessing the 970.
Please don't think I'm being ungrateful, but the Android development community is really a lot of different people standing on the shoulders of giants taking their work just a little bit further.
Best
I just ordered one of these from amazon.ca too - $170 shipped is an amazing deal! I love how it came on super sale the day after someone managed to root it. That was the first thing I went to check when I saw the new price!
BTW it looks like the "Le Pan II" that support was talking about is about to hit the shelves:
Does anyone have any plans to try Honeycomb on the TC970? (CyanogenMod7?)
I don't think that this tablet can run Honeycomb. It's only single core and 512 megs of ram. Gingerbread is more possible, but i don't think that this tablet could run it.
Is the Ematic Genesis 7" tablet from Walmart rootable?
I'm sorry guys, been looking awhile myself, and I don't think it's a popular enough machine for any devs to actually bother working on it. I'd like to find a way to get GAPPS on it myself, but I'm not sure that's gonna happen.
I am confused as I thought that all 'Android 4.0' devices were automatically supported by the Google Play Store through the 'CHROME' web browser that is part of 4.0?
For less than $60 shipped as of today.. I may buy one as a replacement self printed book of my movie disc collection .. as my cost for the ink, paper & time for my now growing 200+ page listing book (the replacement ink cartridges alone cost me $30 each time I print.)
Update >
I went ahead and ordered one just to see.. I read where I could side load "Google Play" in another forum... And if not that most of the apps that I use come from Amazon Market which is to also work.. will report what I find out.. yea I could wait.. but since is seems that WalMart might be offering two different models on "Black Friday" I said why wait in line and find out it is their other model that has worse ratings..
I ordered 5 of them for the grandchildren, specs look good, 1.2 ghz processor, ICS, 7" screen, good deal for $60. I've downloaded older version .apk files for play store on Chinese tablets and installed fine.
I just received this device from "Wal-Mart" and over all with only an hour of use I must say I am a bit worried about the power supply as it is very hot to the touch and I am afraid of leaving it plugged in for the six hour time it would take to fully charge, since the power adapter is only 5volts I wonder if there is a USB power cable that will fit this device?
Also missing from the package were the "Headphones & Protective Sleeve" that was listed on the OEM's web site.
It does have Flash 11.1 (if I remember correctly) installed!
The first time I tried to use the web browser it took me to the "Amazon" and downloaded there store. (there seems to be a bit of screen sizing issue for the stores command box?)
It played the first episode of "BLOOD AND CHROME" from 'YouTube' with out a single hick-up.
More as I learn more... the main reason I purchased is to install the end user created plug-in for DVDProfiler for Android to store my DISC movie collection on... as currently if I print out a book, due to the size of my collection it costs me in Ink-Jet ink alone over $70.00...
So far for a $59 device I am really impressed... all but one .apk that I have loaded runs with out issue... the one giving me an issue is.. I have yet to find a version of 'Google Play Store' that will load and run... Store starts loading then when I get to what seems to be the users agreement I get a "Stopped Running Error"!?
The '''Headphones & Protective Sleeve''' are being sold as a separate item by WalMart for $6.00.
Since it uses a separate charging port you can charge and use.. unlike my Dell Streak-7 which will not charge and use if plugged into a power source.
The battery under heavy use tonight lasted 4.5 hours... before the device would not allow me to use it.
The free movie service "CRACKLE" works.
I am using a rubber tipped 'tablet styles' on the tablet.
The process you linked to is for not only loading the 'GAPPS' but also to "ROOT" the device.
I really don't want to do a full 'GAPPS' install and know that "PLAY STORE" can be loaded with out the "ROOT"ing on some devices running older version of Android 3.x.x.. as I use to have a "Pandigital Novel" w/2.01 and a person that know more about Android OS than I do went into the 'APK' and removed the unneeded files and edited one file and recombined the 'APK' so that it could be side loaded and install "STORE", the trick with it was you would install with todays date, then change the system date/time back at least 12 hours, reboot and connect to the store and log off then reboot and reset the clock to the correct time and go to the store all all worked just fine...
If I was going to ROOT this device I would move all the pre-installed APPs so that they could be uninstalled to free up system memory..
While I have not "OPENED" the case yet does anybody know if the base memory can be expanded??.. Many tablets use MICRO SD cards for their system memory and all you have to do is to open the case and up grade the SD card.. but a few others the memory is soldered on the mainboard of the tablet.
Actually, I gotta correct you on that. I just plugged this tablet in (I bought 2 for my kids for birthdays earlier this month) to my cell charger, and it charges just fine. For that matter, it also charges from a USB port on my netbook.... or even from the micro USB port on my Xoom when a USB/microUSB adapter is used. Update: The following is for your information I can not be held liable if you "Brick" your tablet as this worked for me, but try at your own risk!!
Read this page: Universal Root
Use this utility: Root_with_Restore
Then download the GAPPS from the above link and extract and find the folder "SYSTEM"
Open a dos command prompt window.
Now connect your tablet via USB and be sure that you have it set for USB DEBUGGING in the system / development
DO NOT TURN IN USB STORAGE.
Go to the folder where you extracted the download "Root_with_Restore" go to the folder 'STUFF' and from the command box type " adb device " you should see your tablet connected.
Run the "BAT" file from "Root_with_Restore" [I do not remember for sure but I know that "Other" did not work so I choose the option above it.]
Then find where you extracted the GAPPS system folder and type: adb push <if needed type in the full drive+folder listing>system /system : now wait.. you should see allot of screen messages. till you get a message saying complete.
Unplug the USB cable and turn off your tablet.
Turn on your tablet... this may take longer than in the past.. but you should have a working "GOOGLE PLAY STORE" once your system comes up.
Please post back if this works for you or if I need to try to expand the instructions.
I am sure that some real DOS/Android programmer could make a single .ZIP and .BAT file to take care of everything more cleanly.
ZEKI TBD753B Jelly Bean 4.1.1 WARNING
Just bought ZEKI 7 inch dual core TBD753B witH jelly bean 4.1.1
$ 129.99 at Sears and Best Buy
Specs
Amlogic Dual 1.5GHz Cortex-A9 processor
1GB Ram DDR3
Color TFT-LCD 5 points capacitive touch screen (800 x 480)
Jelly Bean 4.1.1
Storage Capacity : 8GB
SD Card Slot : Yes
Front Facing Camera
Micro USB and mini HDMI
WIFI
Be careful The Jelly Bean firmware has tons of bugs
especially not waking up after sleep / power off.
You need to hit reset button most of the time.
Its not rooted and cant be rooted through the ICS/JB Universal rooting available here at XDA.
I have exchanged it twice and it still has the same problems
After first set up it comes up with "update available" message.
The update is to repair the Update server connection and youtube.
However after update The connection to update server keep failing.
Been through so many factory reset through recovery (Vol - and Power) and the settings with Tech Support and nothing help with the problems.*
Tablet also has screen sensitivity issue
Landscape Top Left corner
Portrait Top Right corner
Until they provide fix do not buy.
Zeki Android 4.0.3 Tablet TB782B is much better than the TBD753B Jelly Bean brother.
UPDATE
For anyone who look for root
attach below
update.zip from Zeki tech support (also work for trio jelly bean tablet)
and Vending (google play store for jelly bean)
It is for Zeki TBD753B and TBDB763B (bluetooth version)
Build no 4.1.1 20121204
Root
Copy the update zip into sd card
Insert the card into the tablet.
Hold vol - and press power button to go to recovery.
Release the vol- button once you enter recovery
navigate with vol button , and power to select
select apply update from ext
Select the update zip you copy earlier
once its done reboot
Google Play Store
AUTOMATIC way without root (wont survive factory reset)
The tablet is google ready you can install Google play store without root by simply tapping the vending apk.
MANUAL WAY to install google play with root (this will survive factory reset)
use file explorer/manager ie.. ES file explorer, Root explorer etc
You can use any file manager that you want and
ITS A BASIC ANDROID KNOWLEDGE you need to mount the system folder into writable before copying or change permission.
copy the vending apk into system/app and change permission into RW R R
and important REBOOT.
UPDATE 2
Due too many emails
let me try to explain as basic as possible
ZEKI tablet already has Google Services Framework installed you dont need to re-install it again.
If you install Google Play store by flashing Gapps zip make sure it doesnt include Google Services Framework APK on the zip files.
Otherwise you will encounter too many FC later on. Dont ask me about GApps.zip since i dont use those methods.
In order for you to access, copy or modify into/on system folder
you need to enable or mount the system folder as writable and your phone/tablet need to be rooted
You can use any file manager apps you want
ie.. ES File Explorer, Root Explorer, Astro File Manager or etc
Below is example for ES file explorer
Tap options
tap settings
Scroll down and select Root Settings
Put a Check mark for Root explorer and mount file system
You have to figure out with the file manager apps you use how to mount the File System as writtable
I dont know every single apps there
Try to GOOGLE it.
I have not had a problem with this. Seems to be a good buy for a cheap tablet.
they put it on sale now for $ 99 from Kmart.
According to Kmart too many returns.
I guess you are lucky.
One more problem the screen on landscape side its top left hand side corner and on portrait side top right corner is less sensitive to touch.
Mostly you have to keep pressing your thumb.
you can try to download ILITEK Touch Utility and test it.
I got the identical tablet from Sears for cheap with reward points. The hardware specs got me to buy it. The tablet really is a headache and firmware locked without root on some Zeki build of JB 4.1.1. After a week of frustration I finally rooted the tablet. Search the XDA forums for Crystal_Root.zip. I confirm it works on the TBD753B FID:BN. It also installed SuperUser and BusyBox. I tried tons of automated scripts, one click unlockers, LiveSuit, and have schooled myself on FastBoot/ADB. None of them worked. Crystal Root took about twenty seconds. If I could do things again, I would not buy this tablet. Spend another hundred and get a Galaxy, but at this point it's personal (this thing WILL eventually do what I want it to). I'm now on to customize boot and OS. Will post results/findings.......
Update: I'm pretty sure this is a rebranded/packaged Zenithink C71 Capacitive manufactured by MID. Generic China garbage, even I got ripped paying $70 for it.....
ZEKI TBD753B Jelly Bean 4.1 - Totally Disagree with Warning - total disservice
Some background on me:
I have all Mac's and Apple devices and had been anti anything otherwise.
The other day my youngest daughter was going through the newspaper flyers looking at toys and such and the K-Mart flyer caught my eye. This Zeki TBD753B was in there for $89.00 USD. I had been considering iPad Mini's to replace their aged iPhone 3GS being used as an iPod touch and a 1st Gen iPod Touch (which to replace with a modern 2013 iPod touch is going to set me back $230 plus. Also for $13 bucks extra for 1 year of worry free coverage (drops, water, cracked screen.. whatever) It gets damaged, I get a new one!
I researched all the apps available for the Zeki that the kids had in iOS and found their counterpart in the AMAZON Store (most people complain that the store is weak vs the Google Play Store). I find this contrary, in fact it seems they only offer the best apps vs Apples gross amount or terrible ones that you have to weed through to find something that is actually not redundant and useful.
I had low expectations on Android for starters so anything would be good if it met those standards. I am happy to say that I am actually blown away. These devices are really solid little tablets. I will agree that there are some touch pad bugs, but maybe the sensitivity issue is because I wanted to test drive it and left the protective cover on it (It takes a couple taps for icons to respond), but when they do activate how this device works is really pretty great.
I have loaded the following so far:
Netflix
Sketchbook
Drop Box
Pandora
Fruit Ninja
Bejeweled
The apps are elegant and well designed.. infact some are better than apple counterparts.
The screen is nice and tight. very bright.
The web Browsers (Chrome and Opera) are solid, very well designed and legible.
Seriously considering flipping my iPad for one of these. Seriously impressed. Do not let the only reviews out there skew your judgement. Every place has a 30 day return policy. Get it, try it and make your own decision.
It's not a bad tablet for kids and people looking to just have a tablet, I was looking for one that would easily customize or modify period. My experience with Amazon Vs Google was 180 degrees as described here. Amazon results for device info were two, Google over a thousand. This tablet has been repacked by so many companies it's not funny. Even after examining it's inside via ABD, the device itself returns vague results about what is actually going on, not sure exactly what model it is. Another calculation is MID x753... I've found identical tablets selling out of china for $40 (10+ minimum order). Still have yet to get gapps functioning, into week two, rooted and hit a wall. I guarantee Sears will charge a restocking fee or only offer store credit if I attempt returning it, usage is visually noticeable. You have to read the fine print about returns for online electronic purchases.
That is the million dollar question. So far my answer is, you can't. First you'll need root access, I described that above. Put crystal zip on SD card, do not unzip file. Shut tablet down. Boot by holding volume down and power buttons. Should enter recovery, select update from EXT, select crystal file, then reboot now, you will see android updating message and then have superuser and busy box installed. That gets you about 50% there. I have tried to flash gapps without luck using the correct files. I believe the problem with this device to be the firmware. It's for ICS. I am thinking about rolling back OS to 4.0.3 and trying from there. The TBD782 is almost identical, thinking of trying a modded ROM I found in XDA forums. Basically that gets you to where I am. I believe the device is actually a momo9 variant/clone with allwinner a10 compatible chip. The manual I downloaded from above manufacturer (I can't post links yet) is identical to the TBD753B. You can also get a working version of livesuit from them. Hope any of that helps. I will report back when I have a working method.
I have google play on the tablet via the google play apk just search for it. It doesn't work but its enough to allow certain features to work such as signing in on the youtube app. Install google services as well. I installed 1mobile market t it does a really good job of keeping apps up to date. The getapk market has alot of apps as well as the tablified market which can use the store of your choice (including 1mobile market). As far as buying apps from google play I still haven't been able to get the store to launch without crashing I will keep working at it and post updates.
PS: The touch bug is annoying as $^%*
and yes you can use the crystal. zip to root it
or I have the update zip but I cant upload it here for some reason.
I will agree that there are some touch pad bugs, but maybe the sensitivity issue is because I wanted to test drive it and left the protective cover on it (It takes a couple taps for icons to respond), but when they do activate how this device works is really pretty great.
First thing I tried was getting the vending apk. Negative with results. Manufacturer didn't purchase a license from Google, so your locked out of the free service, however you can have access to search, chrome, and the OS stamped Google (upper right corner, yet to remove). It all totally makes sense to me. You'll need root access to correctly install gapps, my fading hope to get this thing working with Google. Again I have to point at the buggy firmware in the device, its the same for all devices from manufacturer, with the only variable being the camera. To use all of Google's services, the firmware has to go. The issue for me has come to replacing it with something working that does not render the device inoperable.
Ok, for those of you returning these. The wifi on my device tanked 11 days from purchase. Only modifications I made to device were: root, attempted gapps install. I do not believe I destroyed the device wifi capability. I tried to reflash the original FW from recovery, NO GO, superuser stayed in the app drawer also root settings. I tried all three methods of data restoration available with the device, it half restored them. I did get Sears to exchange it. NOW, the good part. They exchanged it for another used one. I know the replacement was used because the 'factory sealed' label had been placed on the box over a broken one, also the headphones had been split apart. The original unit the plastic wires for left and right earbuds were molded together. I also watched the associate slap a clearance sticker on the box of the broken one I handed him, with a 50% price reduction. So if your retuning the units, you are quite possibly getting refurbished or flat out used units as exchanges. Now I do have all the info from previous unit build and will compare it to this one's. I shall try again, however the galaxy is $170 and I am investing waaaay to much time. This one breaks and Samsung it is. . .
First device build: 20121204
This device build: 20121213
Root Settings unavailable from settings menu (yes they are completely gone), they were visible but unable to select on previous unit until it was rooted.
Yes you can use whatever file manager apps you want.
and of course you need to mount system folder as RW its a basic function to copy or tweak system folder.
You can use ES file explorer, Root explorer or whatever file manager apps you want to use.
Glad it work for you
BTW if you want to fix the touch screen sensitivity issue
try to download SGS Touchs creen Booster from the play store.
It help a bit
About a month ago, my dad told me he purchased an Android Jelly Bean tablet at Fingerhut for 149.99. I was a bit skeptical and warned him that it might be a crappy imitation with zero Google Play.
I was right about the Google Play part of it but, to be honest, I am rather impressed by the overall performance of it. True, the resolution is not up to Nexus 7 standards and the built-in speakers are somewhat average, it does offer a microsd card slot with 32 GB support and HDMI. All that was left was to root it and get down to business of installing Google Play and Nova Launcher to make it a Nexus clone.
Easier said than done. It took me a week of using everything from ZhuoDaShi to PolaroidAIO combined with ADB with no luck. I was about to give up until I found Crystal Root. Amazing stuff....took about 20 seconds, rebooted and finally rooted. My dad is now a proud owner of Nexus 7 clone. Of course, there are no custom roms but the layout is so basic it really doesn't need any. I just added Nova Launcher, removed the stock launcher using a root uninstaller and applied an ad-blocking host file using ES File Manager.
I found myself so impressed that I will be also purchasing one later this month! :good:
This is how I got it to work, dude. I used ES File Manager, gave it root permissions, copied over the Vending.apk to system/app, changed permissions to RW - R - R, then you NEED to reboot the tablet.
It will then show the, "Android is optimizing system apps" screen and that's it!
Trojan infected recovery phone partition
Hi,
I'm new to XDA. I think I'm in the right forum for my issue. My phone was infected with what I think is a type of auto rooting trojan. I was looking for info on an app I'm using called Duraspeed. I came across this website that started throwing popups at me saying my phone had tons of viruses, which was a lie. By the time I could break free from the drive by attacks, it was too late. I started getting sluggish performance on my phone and popup ads randomly. Even though it somehow gained root access, my phone is not rooted. Never was. Its still not! Because I checked with several apps off the playstore to confirm this. Long story short:
It put a file called "ads_popup-release.apk"
in my root folder /system/priv-app/
And modified a file called "8e710bb7.0"
in root folder /system/etc/security/cacerts/
or put (installed) the file there I'm not sure.
The file running on the phone as a system app is called "ad_surface"
I can only force stop and disable ad_surface without the ability to uninstall. I have to repeat this process every time I reboot. This stops the ads from popping up. Funny thing is, even though the force stop button in app settings is greyed meaning it was stopped and disabled, my OS Monitor app that shows running processes shows ad_surface is still running. Yet, it does stop the random popup ads by doing it this way. I've tried 360 AV, Avast, AVG, Malwarebytea, Kaspers, stubborn rootkit remover, a lot of antivirus programs but nothing detects it. I'm using Total Commander File Manager to view the device system partitions. I even copied the two trojan files to a folder on the user partition to see if any of the antivirus programs could check them there away from the root areas. But nothing. My guess is that I need to root my phone so I can gain access to the apk file and delete it. I haven't done a factory reset because I realize that apk file is in the recovery partition in order to reinstall itself. I've never rooted a phone before, but I have Kingroot installed. I downloaded it from XDA. I just don't have the guts to use it in fear of bricking. Do you think it would work with my phone? Does it abort the root procedure if it can't do it? Here are my phone specs:
Vortex Beat 8
Software build: 8_V1.5_20171011
Chipset: MT6580M Cortex-A7
CPU Architecture: ARMv7 Processor Rev 3(V71)
Cores: 4 1300MHz
Kernal Version: 3.18.19
Total Ram: 459MB
Internal ROM: 8GB (4GB for user)
That's about it. If there's anything anybody who could recommend how to go about this I would greatly appreciate the help. Thank you...
Go try factory resetting it, doesn't hurt to try.
If the "virus" is still there you can always re-flash the phones os. Here is the link to the stock ROM ---> http://www.needrom.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/BEAT-8_V1.06_20170413.rar
The below link is a tutorial on how to flash the phones ROM.
https://www.getdroidtips.com/stock-rom-vortex-beat-8/#How_to_Download_Stock_ROM_on_VORTEX_Beat_8
In mtkdroid tools, Have all the boxes unchecked, and make sure you only have "ANDRIOD" and "RECOVERY" checked marked. The other boxes are just about the phones information and properties. Theses shouldn't be checked because it might erase your imei/drivers or other stuff. After flashing the rom make sure you do a complete factory rest + cache. Erase whatever you have on ur sd cards or micro sd cards.
Just do this and call it a day
Good luck
Cool
Hi, thank you! I will try this. I will have to borrow someone's computer like my nephews. I did try Kingroot and OneClickRoot but they both failed. Perhaps due to a locked bootloader. Or the evil trojan that made itself super user blocking them. I did do a factory reset, but the trojan persist. My mistake was forgetting to turn off unknown sources in security settings. I think that's how it got in... I'll keep checking back on this thread in the meantime to see if someone knows a tool that can kill the trojan, but I doubt it. Cheers!
It isn't unheard of for a router to get infected with a virus/malware, rare, but not exactly impossible. I've run across others here over the years that have discussed this issue. I don't remember any specifics, tools or methods to fix the issue though, but you can probably find info on removing malware from a router.
It sounds to me like their hold over you has more to do with your personal information than with your devices. With certain pieces of your info, they can gain access to any device that you sign into, login to or even just enter information in while using, even if it isn't yours.
If your network provider randomly cycles IP addresses among its users, it could be that the hacker has previously hijacked that IP address while another user was using it and his access carried over to you when the IP was assigned to you. If this is so, a new IP and changing all of your account info among all of the various accounts you have would cut him off, maybe?
I'm not the best at network security issues that go that deep. My network management/LAN Admin days were a very long time ago, too many things have changed.
translation it installed itself to the privilege app section on your phone which does not delete with a reset (new rom does) this also gives the app more power
it can only be done with root so the app rooted your phone (at least temp) here is a app that removes it but it needs root
https://f-droid.org/en/packages/de.j4velin.systemappmover/
And a system priv app has AFAIK full power however as of Oreo thier is another file to give it permisions so says google https://source.android.com/devices/tech/config/perms-whitelist namely
/etc/permissions/privapp-permissions-OEM_NAME.xml
/etc/permissions/privapp-permissions-DEVICE_NAME.xml
check these files and see what you find
The app has to be running with a linux GUID so you can check with that
the apps can not find root this can be because the program used root once to get a elevated status (temporary root) and then does not need it anymore
so you cannot find it. The question still remains how they did that but right now you need to get out.
Waiting for other response. Hehe.
I had this take control of multiple devices and 2 computers. 3 android phones and an apple iphone and 2 windows computers. I countless hours going through logs and data. On my android devices it even made a cloned version of TWRP so it would reinstall itself through recovery. I spent hours on the phone with samsung and apple senior advisors. I viewed the analytic data on the apple device over and over. Extremely werid things were running. Constantly writting system wwrites on a stock apple phone. It was able to transfer from device to device over wifi hotspot. It went on for over two months. I had a roku tv also become monitored. It was the craziest **** ive ever had happen to me. It litterally almost drove me insane and I thought I was going crazy. Ive never seen anything like it. Even google reaults were completely false and fake sites. I disnt know this happened to anyone else. Ive got countless logs and screenshots saved in case I ever needed to share the info. It even remotely sipped my desktop hard drives and had me connecring to a remote server on boot.
I could make a phone call and hear breathing in the background. Id make a call and touch tone sounds would go off after the first ring. I was getting constant interference through my phone. It connected all my devices to a home group I never created. I literally had to destroy the devices
Applied protocal - makes sense man, in juat glad I got it off my back. On the iphone, when yyou would install a new app from the "app store" it would run a wake up over 4000 times a second to wake up an unknown app in system files . im assuming this was to clone the app or change some code in it when it was installed. The app name was ??? In the analytic logs and it was an "event write system". This was some dirty stuff man. Is this something that is common right now? This exploit across so many devices? Id love to share some of these logs and screenshots if anyone is interested.
Definitely malmare! Mine was called "Ad-Time", like a kid's show or something, but either way, very persistent and pervasive! I have 2 roms, (v 1.5 & 1.6), in img format, easy fastboot flash. Look at this phone wrong and it's rooted. Anybody interested, hit me up, I even got the couple-line script to install SuperSU /system (beat 8 doesn't like Magisk). A simple su.d script to enable permissive selinux, build.prop changes, and you have a $30 Nexus via MTK. I also ported TWRP 3.2.1(no bugs) & Philz, but TWRP is my comfort-zone.
I had this take control of multiple devices and 2 computers. 3 android phones and an apple iphone and 2 windows computers. I countless hours going through logs and data. On my android devices it even made a cloned version of TWRP so it would reinstall itself through recovery. I spent hours on the phone with samsung and apple senior advisors. I viewed the analytic data on the apple device over and over. Extremely werid things were running. Constantly writting system wwrites on a stock apple phone. It was able to transfer from device to device over wifi hotspot. It went on for over two months. I had a roku tv also become monitored. It was the craziest **** ive ever had happen to me. It litterally almost drove me insane and I thought I was going crazy. Ive never seen anything like it. Even google reaults were completely false and fake sites. I disnt know this happened to anyone else. Ive got countless logs and screenshots saved in case I ever needed to share the info. It even remotely sipped my desktop hard drives and had me connecring to a remote server on boot.
I could make a phone call and hear breathing in the background. Id make a call and touch tone sounds would go off after the first ring. I was getting constant interference through my phone. It connected all my devices to a home group I never created. I literally had to destroy the devices
Applied protocal - makes sense man, in juat glad I got it off my back. On the iphone, when yyou would install a new app from the "app store" it would run a wake up over 4000 times a second to wake up an unknown app in system files . im assuming this was to clone the app or change some code in it when it was installed. The app name was ??? In the analytic logs and it was an "event write system". This was some dirty stuff man. Is this something that is common right now? This exploit across so many devices? Id love to share some of these logs and screenshots if anyone is interested.
Typical Chinese ad/malware/surveillance. If you visit china, you turn over your devices for "inspection", so they can sideload some state-sponsored goodies. A lot of these Chinese roms have the ads baked-in, like mine. Whoever's listening and seeing my pics is gonna need therapy, because I filled the phone up with some STRANGE s*** Remove the apk, but there's several .xml's and .jar's that gotta go, too.
Root, and remove all traces of the " ad_* " app and even the duraspeed app if you want, but I didn't see anything untrustworthy about that. Duraspeed is in the default.prop (running booster), so it's in the kernel. Root uninstall just leaves you no way to control, kuz the PROCESS will go and go, unless you're willing to play with the kernel. Not for amateurs like myself My Beat 8 has been flashed or fastboot-booted more times than I can count. Good times.
Once your Chinese spyware is uninstalled, delete build.prop lines with "running booster", /system/lib's with it, and I think it was in the /system/bin, and /vendor/app had one. Clear them all, and you'll need to tweak the build.prop some more. debug.qemu.kernel=1, ro.secure_storage.support=0, ro.debuggable=1, then reboot AFTER you chmod 644 the build.prop! The "debug.qemu.kernel=1" was what made the rest stick. ADD those props, but don't change the existing ones (kernel). I just deleted the default values, replaced with "" . Fits the whole debug vibe. I should upload a copy of my final build.prop, cheap-a** phone runs like a champ.
