Maxx Compass - Droid Ultra Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My Maxx is not at all accurate with its compass function. I thought it would be better because the old RAZR maxx was the same way. Its off about 45° toward the right. Is there any cure or calibration procedure?
Thanks.

Are you using a particular app for your compass?

About any app has it skewed. Google maps and Ingress are both equally off.

I've heard this app has a calibration feature of the gyroscope that might help; https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.apksoftware.compass

Phone idle is standby.
If you are getting that much battery drain, then there is something wrong.
If you screwed around with your phone settings, used a custom ROM, are overclocking, etc. then that would be the likely cause. Something is preventing your phone from properly idling and going into a low-power state while not in used.

I'm rooted but on stock. I updated some apps and can't remember which ones it was. I know the new Yahoo mail update was one and I put the old one back on

That is odd, there has to be some app or service misbehaving. Could try free version of juice defender, I get decent battery life using it.

Are you using any SmartActions? I was using a location based one and another based on time and plugged in status. I disabled all actions and now the phone idle isn't drawing nearly as much battery.

Why does the XDA app suck?

I have bought the premium version the HD for tablet and no matter what device or Internet connection you have the app sucks. It is slow, constantly connecting to server, skips all around when scrolling through forums behaves oddly and just crashes every so often.
How can the site with arguably the best collection of devs, modders, hackers, designers and tech enthusiasts have such a low quality app? I'm assuming it is still based off tapatalk? As I don't use that app is it to blame for performance issues I'm genuinely just curious?

I'll have to agree with you. And the xda app has become buggier over the years. It's always been buggy but is at its worst now. I still use it.... frustrating. Premium version as well

It is funny how xda hosts so many developers but cannot make a good app.
Yep. App is terrible. Now I can't even quote the right person, or than them. It selects the post above it.

Never liked that app.
Like the carpenters house without any doors I guess
Just use tapatalk .
I think that's what the majority of the users here use.

A lot of people said the paid app is a money grab so I just use the free version

Bad app..I always use the desktop XDA website.
It does suck. Might try going back to tapatalk
