Hi My htc one s has hboot version 2.16 and s-on. I need to go back to a stable rom right now i have magiorom beta 2 flashed(because i think its the only rom compatible with hboot 2.16 that doesn't require s-off).I already have supercid my cid is 11111111.I tried doing face palm s-off but when i try to flash the ruu it gives me FAILED (remote: 99 unknown fail). I tried it in "rebootRUU" and got the same error. I tried doing super cid again but when i type the command dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p4 of=/sdcard/mmcblk0p4 it says "dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p4 of=mmcvlk0p4
mmcvlk0p4: cannot open for write: Read-only file system". So im stuck i dont know what to do! Please help me !
If you already got supercid you don't need to do it again. You're lucky that you got supercid already since you can't get it on 2.16

But the reason im going to s-off is because i want to downgrade my hboot to 2.15
You can downgrade to 2.15 but i think you have to be S-OFF
You can't downgrade from 2.16 if you don't have S-OFF, you even may brick your phone trying to do that.

I had the same issue, (sort-of) I seemed to have hboot 2.16 after using Moonshine (which is the way to go) and I later flashed the HTC One S RUU and that put me back to hboot 2.15. The only problem is I am trying to update back to 2.16 and I am stuck there. But if you do use Moonshine, run it on Ubuntu. Go to Ubuntu and download the system on a cd. Shut down your computer, boot it up and click F12 and the cd will load. Then when Ubuntu starts up click, "Try Ubuntu" -- Don't install it! That will screw up your system you already have set up. Set up adb drivers, then run moonshine. That will get you S-OFF and then lock your bootloader fastboot flash <unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin> and run this RUU below. Then you can unlock the bootloader, then flash a recovery, and go ahead and flash Roms, Kernels, etc. I hope this helps! :good:

I have a question... when i flashed maximusrom10 firmware it upgraded my model id. So what software vs should i download
Edit: I mean before i flashed maximusrom10 my model id was PJ4010000, but now after flashing the firmwasre for maximus rom its PJ4011000. So when doing s-off which model id should i use?

Story time:
After deciding to install cyanogenmod on the weekend I've run in to a myriad of issues. I was able to unlock, flash CWM recovery, and install Cyanogen fairly easily, but I ran into the issue where the touch screen doesn't work.
What I've done:
I've found the fix detailed here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2159863, but have been unable to get all the prerequisites going. From the screen fix thread linked above I need to be rooted, s-offed, and superCIDed.
I believe I got the superCID working by following the steps in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=41482419&postcount=2 and fastboot oem readcid returns 22222222
After that I was unlocked before but locked and relocked with a new unlockcode from htcdev
For rooting, I've looked at the methods listed under Root on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671237, but I'm not too sure where to find which firmware I'm on. That would be the version of cyanogen would it not. I've tried the x-factor method using All-In-One Toolkit from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1952426 to no avail, as well as SuperSU from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1673935 and this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1644167, but I don't think any method has worked so far.
In order to use S-Off I'm pretty sure you need to be rooted, so it of course it didn't work, what made me think I wasn't rooted was when I was going through the Facepalm S-Off guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2155071 when I ran "adb shell su -c "/data/local/tmp/soffbin3" it would just me the error su: not found, which means your not in as root according to: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=38278577#post38278577
I've also tried going back to stock using the RUU RUU_Evita_UL_Rogers_WWE_1.94.631.3_Radio_0.18as.32.09.28L_10.103.32.24L_release_268972_signed.exe from http://ruu.androidfiles.org/getdown...9.28L_10.103.32.24L_release_268972_signed.exe, but when I run it I get error 99: Unknown Error, and I if I look in the log it creates it says error 44 HBOOT mismatch. I'm running after relocking, and I've tried just grabbing the rom.zip from %temp%, extracting it and flashing the boot and system imgs, but it says the system.img is too big.
At this point I'd just like to get my phone to work. If I can get it with CM that'd be cool, but stock would be good too. Any help would be appreciated.

In cyanogenmod you have to allow adb root access in developer options.
To ruu without s-off you need to change your cid back to the default but you will brick if you update to 3.18 after. Best to s-off since you changed your cid.

The touchpad doesn't work in cyanogenmod though, that's the root of the issue

I was trying to RUU before changing CID, but was running in to "FAILED (remote: 44 hboot version check fail)", when running the RUU mentioned in the OP
Ah I see the ruu must have had an older hboot version than the one on your phone. You cant downgrade firmware without s-off.
To fix your issue you will need to flash a sense rom and then s-off and then downgrade your touchscreen firmware. Then you can flash whatever evita rom you like.

I flashed the Sense build from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2293032 and was then able to S-Off. After that I was able to down grade the touchpad firmware and install cyanogenmod.

And that brings us to my current problem, I cant seem to install cwm I put the PG58IMG File on the sd card an booted into hboot but The file loads up and then fails telling me "Model Id Incorrect update fail press power to reboot." Also after using juopunutbear. To s-off my phone the bootloader. Now says Locked instead. Of unlocked is this normal?

Check the md5 sum of the PG58IMG File.

I tried to flash recovery but it didn't work it tells me " writing recovery FAILED (Remote not allowed)" and the md5 is correct so no problems there

You have to flash the patched hboot first add suggested by @malybru . after that then you won't have a problem flashing a recovery.

I was unable to flash the hboot i would just get an error. I fixed my problem about 30 seconds ago by supercid the phone which allowed me to flash Juopunutbear Hboot and then recovery took me 8 hours to figure it out but i was determined.

What exactly do you mean by "On this device isn't OS".Do you mean you haven't install some custom OS on your device or it has no OS at all.If you have erase the OS the bootloop is something natural.
I did a google search for your radio version and according to this I found answers only on some german forums.So your cid (as long as you are s-on) should be possibly a German or a European one.
You can download the latest Europe version from here and give it a try.
You can find your cid number using fastboot.Just get into fastboot mode of your hboot and give the command fastboot getvar cid.
If your bootloader is HTCDEV unlocked give the commands:
Code:
fastboot oem lock
fastboot reboot-bootloader
After that your hboot should say Relocked instead of Unlocked.Then install the RUU.
You could also give it S-OFF using this guide (Does not require HTCDEV unlock method):

If you are S-ON you can use a RUU only with hboot 1.18 in your case

Why exactly he should use an RUU with hboot 1.18?!
I know that the version of hboot can be upgraded normally but cannot be downgraded as long as you are S-ON.If you are S-OFF you can downgrade everything.Also if you want to install an older RUU and you are S-ON you have to use a gold card and you patch the version of the misc partition to an equal or lower one for the RUU you are going to use.

A bit off topic but still kinda related.
So i got my phone used, and when i got it, it was already bootloader unlocked and s-off. Now my question is, a lot of people are having trouble getting s-off on 2.15 hBoot, but that's what i have, along with TMOB010 CID.
I want to know how this device got s-off, and the thing is, in bootloader it doesn't even have **tampered** showing on there.
Anyone have any idea? I just want to know so that if i mess up the phone I'd know how to get it back to its previous state.

If you have SuperCID then yes you can flash RUU above yours. I did, but for me moonshine still didn't work but occasionally Facepalm did.

Tampered flag can be removed by tool revone.
This time I know just 2 methods how to do S-Off, moonshine and facepalm.
Can't think of one!

Then copied and paste the remaining two commands one at a time, remember to press enter after each of the 3 commands)

It looks like mmcblk0p4 is write protected here, so the changing of the CID just does not work.

My problem is that I'm s-on,and it's seems that I can't do the supercid witch is the first step for Facepalm process.
I red a lot about this topic, everything what I have found.
It appears that I got the hboot 2.15 version with Jb ota Update ,because of this the mmcblk0p4 file is write protected... so the cid overwrite is undone.
Tried on ViperOneS 1.2.1 - 2.2.0,on Tricktroid 7-9.1 and on Jb Stock also.The adb ,the termal emulaton on phone ,hex editing works well.

You're certain it's .8 and not the .9
I did it on 8 with no problems way back.

I had the 3.16.401.9, en after de ruu of 3.16.401.8 it is still write protected.

Unlock bootloader already done.
But supercid en s-off is mess.
I read here about special line that you must typ in command AFTER su permission.
Can somebody tell me how you gonna get SU permission? When i typ it down is tell me not found? Pfff

Could you please elaborate on your process for getting your CID to 22222222? Do I need to modify mmcblk0p4 as the other guides have indicated? Could you please write a short guide?

3. Type "echo -ne "22222222" | dd of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p5 bs=1 seek=20" and hit enter. To test if it worked restart the phone into fastboot (type "adb reboot bootloader" and hit enter) and once the bootloader screen comes up
type "fastboot oem readcid" and hit enter. It should read "22222222".
4. type "fastboot oem get_identifier_token" and hit enter. Leave that up on your screen and go to HTCdev.com. Follow the instructions from there.
5. Once you have confirmed you have SuperCID, get started with facepalm.

1. Fire up your command prompt and go to the directory that you have ADB installed to. Type "adb shell" and hit enter.
2. Type "su" and hit enter. You now have root privileges.
3. Type "echo -ne "22222222" | dd of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p5 bs=1 seek=20" and hit enter. To test if it worked restart the phone into fastboot (type "adb reboot bootloader" and hit enter) and once the bootloader screen comes up
type "fastboot oem readcid" and hit enter. It should read "22222222".
4. type "fastboot oem get_identifier_token" and hit enter. Leave that up on your screen and go to HTCdev.com. Follow the instructions from there.
5. Once you have confirmed you have SuperCID, get started with facepalm.

Thanks for the quick reply! Unfortunately it looks like I'm stills screwed. I followed your instructions exactly and I'm still getting my CID as TMOBO-10. If you have any other ideas, I'm listening.

You can't get facepalm s-off, but you could get moonshine s-off
Go to moonshine.io and look for the supported RUU versions and install one that corresponds to your cid. Then you could install moonshine s-off.

i have tried... after second test, monshine awaits adb for too short time...about 2-3 secs is missing for phone to reboot completly for monshine could connect with adb... after time counts 60 secs, monshine says i need to fix my adb...

I want to install maximushd10 4.3 to my phone, but after complete installation steps it's not work correct for my. next i want to recover my phone by RUU. but it's error 158. i go s-on and rewrite original sid (htc__203). but i have get error 158 by RUU. i'm not able to go s-off or install another rom or RUU and cant use/install RUU becuase of SDCARD and hboot 2.16...
may i have a solution to re-partition sdcard. or downgrade h-boot without s-off ?
my phone:
UNLOCKED
S_ON
HBOOT-2.16.0000
SID HTC__203
Recovery TWRP 2.6.1.0...

in this case, we need a rom that work with s-on and last hboot (2.16), that only rom that i found is MagioRom_Beta_2.
i wiped phone and reset to factory setting
next, transfer rom with SIDELOAD.
then REBOOT and install sideload... (with magio installation instructions)...
after that, rom boot and install correctly and phone run into android. then i followed directions of super cid and facepalm s-off.
My Phone Security is OFF and CID is 1111111 :cyclops: .
next i installed MAXIMUS10.
now i'm on MAXIMUSHD 10. :victory:
Horrible mistake by going s-on before running a RUU.
Try using fastboot commands like in post # 68 of that thread.
Fastboot that recovery and the boot img. Sideload the Rom via twrp. Maybe you can get it running.

Yes, Going S-ON is my bad mistake...
i tried that, but becuase of S-ON, maximus dont boot and because of HBOOT 2.16 and new partitioning, other rom wont install or boot.
i was tried some rom...
i must re-partitioning my phone or downgrade HBOOT or S-off. but how ?!!!

I don't know of any quick fix. Was thinking since you said it was repartitioned and new hboot, you could flash boot.img and flash rom and get it working. Sorry for your luck.
You can try magiorom beta 2. The rom works with latest hboot.

I have a smilar problem
I installed the maximus rom for htc one s,i installed the firmware for it,flashed the rom,i did everything but i went to recovery and it said 48mb storage.When i was using the rom i mounted it from the android its self and deleted the os(I was panicking). I read online and it said u have to install the recovery from the install package . So i installed the recovery file and got it back to normal. Today i panicked and put it on s-on. Then i tried adb side loading a rom and i couldn't figure it out so i went to fastboot usb and i did "fastboot flash zip Energyrom.zip" it didn't work and said failed so i went back to recovery and it is 48 mb again.I reflashed the recovery but that didn't work . What do i do i need my phone fixed asap. Please respond if you know the fix to the problem. (Im only 12 pleease help me). Thanks in advanced

I believe that if you flash and install correctly, it would solved your problem...

Hi how did u s-off after you got magio rom because to install Maximus hd again u need s-off, But i can't find out how to s-off on hboot 2.16. Can you please tell me how u did it?! I need to fix my phone asap.

Hi, for s-off, hboot version is not important. you can give it by following Facepalm s-off instructions...
