I just recently went from a Verizon Galaxy Nexus to the HTC One. I find myself missing my Galaxy Nexus, maybe it's the plastic feel in my hand which I've grown so used to or the available development. I like the HTC One but I don't feel like it's a phone that I'm gonna be happy with a few months from now.
I just want some input on what people would think is best for me. I'm doubtful that the Nexus 5 will make its way to Verizon or that would be my first choice.

I realize there is a discussion thread going but I would rather not sort through 600 pages of responses, I haven't checked out the Moto X development forum but I definitely like the similarities to the gnex in design

It is a simple choice of simplicity or features.

To be fair mate, even if the iPhone was better than the S3 in every way, the majority on here would still say the S3 because Android kicks ass :
Personally though, I would pick the S3 because it's more powerful, more customizable and generally a better phone.
And that's not because I'm an Android fanboy, cause I'm not, it's simply because S3 performs much better. But as Allanitomwesh said, it's a choice of simplicity or features.

It's in my signature so wherever I post, people can see it and refer to it, if needed. So it's not aimed at you, but if the shoe fits feel free to wear it.

If you have the option of either I just don't see the point in the 4S. No phone is future proof but the SIII will give you a lot longer useable life than the 4S at this point.

As a user of both phones... ill say i prefer the S3... same reeason everyone is saying....
S3 is faster, very customisable lot of useless thing to do with... useless but im sure you will want to do...
Iphone is simpler. Does what iit is supous to do..
Easy answer... Android rules and is the best so pick the s3. Iphone is for follower
LG Faberon made by meinem GNote aus Berlin TTTT
A big one is price. The S3 is much newer and fuller featured than the 4S, but the 4S still costs almost as much as it did on release. So if you have to buy now the S3 is more bang for your buck (outright at least).
Still it'll be interesting to see what the ip5 is like. I'm locked into the android ecosystem enough that it'll take a lot to convert me, but it will no doubt be a great phone.
Samsung is going to unveil a new device in their Galaxy flagship - probably a 5.5 incher Note II. I can't wait for iPhone 5 but now I am confused between GS III and the to be released device. It's obvious, I think, considering we don't have to buy a phone at its outright price here in India. Buying such a high end phone is a sort of one time luxury for me. Wish it was the same as US where people switch over their older models for new one as soon as it is out in the market. So, wait for August 15th then or quickly jump on the bandwagon by buying the SIII ?
S3 is galaxies better than any of Apple's i****
If you only use it for texting maybe iprone. But why would anyone get a tiny screen? Video photos browsing all much better on s2 or s3. Beauty? Android. BUT im waiting to get s3 till 4g lte is available in my area.

Should I trade my gsm galaxy nexus for a gsm droid RAZR? Give me cons and pros of both please. I've had the Gnex for a few weeks and have always loved the Atrix 2. Any advice.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I know about the developmental side. Gnex has crazy support and RAZR is limited but talk to me about personal preference. Hardware, software, build design etc. Like I said I have the gnex and haven't even played with the razr

Velcro. What a rip off!
I would say keep the Gnex. From my point of view, it is a better phone than the RAZR simply because of the raw support you mentioned. But if you are bored with the Gnex and want a new experience, go for the RAZR.
And yes. Do use the device suggestions thread mentioned above. Makes things neater.

There is a thread for this type of questions, but anyways, there is the LG Nexus 4, the HTC One X, Samsung Galaxy S3. I think there's not really a device better than this bad boys.

Hey everyone. A sad time indeed. My 1yr old doing his exploring has thrown my beloved one s down the stairs and broke her the case cracked open and some insides were broken. Only faults I can find so far are that my sound no longer works. Speaker nor headset so I am looking to replace her. I bought her the first day T-Mobile released the one s and loved her since having rooted her and running a great 4.2.2 ROM on her since she never left ICS.
Though it brings me to near tears to ask this, does anyone have any recommendations for a new phone? I heard something about a new HTC one series and other thoughts are nexus 4 and galaxy s4. I prefer top of the line devices but easy to root and good ROM supports are a must.

No replies? Hmm damn.
I've narrowed it to either the Nexus 4 or the SG3 if I don't decide to just replace my One S Lol. I really am in love with this phone.

It completely depends on your preference. Hardware is constantly evolving and so are options. You say you love your one s but you need to ask yourself what you love about it. If you love the comfortable sense feeling, you could look into the new htc one, though sense 5 is a vast difference from previous versions. If you want the best hardware on the market go with the s4. If you like the smaller size check out the nexus 4. Personally, I would recommend the S4. Guaranteed huge rom support and as top of the line as you could get this year. Do some research and see what fits you. Im a Note 2 user of about 3 months and love it more every day.

If you want build quality (emphasis - it is stunning), like HTC's sense rom, want the beats audio/boomsound, and maybe other things I definitely would recommend the HTC One. Even with my perfect-condition One S was contemplating the switch to the One but decided to save money. Since you want a new phone, there's nothing stopping you! The phone is also slightly larger at 4.7" (whereas the One S is 4.3").
Let us know what you choose.
Edit: Awkward didn't realize you had actually bought the Nexus 4 already. Great quality build budget phone that is on the smaller side too. (Just a little outdated as the Nexus 5 is being anticipated but it will still get quick android updates).
I'm not a frequent poster. Heck, I'm still not above the necessary posts for posting in Dev forums. But I wanted to delurk and say this: thank you.
I've been on XDA for a few years now, starting with the Samsung Captivate, moving on to the HTC Inspire 4G, presently on this forum and soon the One forum. In that time I've had the opportunity to see many people, many devs and countless iterations of ROMs (some of which have followed my transit, oddly).
XDA has a lot of great people: young, old and somewhere inbetween. The devs and users alike have been great on the HTC One XL. Arguably, this is one of the best groups I've frequented.
Devs: Thanks for all the tireless, sometimes thankless work. Some of you are literally half my age and are able to do things I barely understand. Remember that for every pissant whiner, there are any number of people just like me silently going along and enjoying every bit of what you do. Sense or stock, all of you make this phone fly.
Users: You guys are great, period. Funny, helpful and great bunch overall. I've seen a lot of you support the devs with bug reports, donations and sometimes just with thanks. That is awesome. Keep it up!
So, anyway. That's all I have to say for whatever it is worth. I'll be following along with the One forums. Maybe I'll talk with some of you there if/when I finally break my lurker habits.

HTC Desire > HTC One XL... both great phones but the lack of internal storage on the Desire was a huge frustration. All the crap you had to go through to store apps properly on SD was crazy. But the awesome devs made it happen for us.

THANK YOU "bkcokota" AND OTHER XDA DEVS
I am new to this forum and especially new to rooting......
upon deciding to root my HTC ONE SV 3 days ago, and failing miserably, might i add, i followed "bkcokota" guide.
at no fault of his own i tried and tried again.......gave up, then tried and tred again......rinse and repeated this several times......then said F it and
decided to research anything i could find on the web about rooting phones........upon one more try at rooting this thing i finally got it......
i at this time.........about 5 minutes ago.......realized i was a complete "noob" as ive seen this word used alot the last couple of days.
but after researching all i could realized how easy it was to do, and at how clear bkcokota's directions were........one of those "doh"
moments obviously, wanted to thank him personally as well as all the xda members who posted their findings to this site. i couldn't post to his
original thread, because of obvious reasons, so i decided to post it here. i hope it gets to him as his guide was detrimental to succeeding at my
task.
again,
THANK YOU "bkcokota" AND ALL OTHER XDA DEVS AND MEMBERS ALIKE.
PS: "[GUIDE] Root for HTC One SV UPDATED 23/02/13 - bkcokota" was the guide i followed

The Captivate has remarkable legs. I was surprised to see how much support it has after all these years. I probably would've kept it longer were it not for the SOD issue.
Incidentally, the Captivate will probably be traded in to fund the new phone.
