the root will be gone & if previously you unlocked the bootloader, the bootloader will still be unlocked, except you locked it yourself.

I just rooted my Xperia L using this method http://www.waledacdroid.com/2014/01/how-to-root-sony-xperia-l-c2104-c2105_16.html.
After the process I downloaded Root checker to verify my root access. It says it has root access already. So I assumed that my unit is already rooted. Next thing I did was I downloaded DextroDroid v3 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-l/development/rom-dextrodroid-v2-t2598697) and follow the steps to install it.
I followed the procedure properly but I was stuck at after Sony logo and I can't pass through it. Please help.

To make things clear, I root my Xperia L using this method, How to Root Xperai L.
After rooting my Xperia L, I found this ROM for my Xperia L and so I decided to flash this. Here is the link of the ROM, DextroDroid v.3.
I am puzzled like you as well coz I followed every single step to Root my unit and to flash a new ROM but then I end up stuck up after Sony logo.
Btw, will you be kind to give me the link on how will flash FTF through flashtool. TIA mate.

Look mate, I flashed the latest firmware which is 15.3.A.1.17, the problem is that the method I'm using to Root my Xperia L is for build 15.3.A.1.14, do you have a tutorial there on how will I root my unit with 15.3.A.1.17 build number and Jellybean 4.2.2.

to install custom ROM you must unlock bootloader,to root you can flsah kernel like's thunderzap or phantom kernel so you can flash latest superuser
but if you install cm11 you doesn't need to root again, cause it's already rooted

1.if you just want to root and dont want to UBL , follow that link.
2. Some kernels comes with intergrated cwm..like thunderzap ,phantom..! TO USE THOSE KERNELS YOU HAVE TO UNLOCK YOUR BL.
3.if you want to use custom rom like cm,
You have to unlock your bootloader.
I hope I cleared your doubts..
EDIT : there is a cwm for locked bootloader too...search in android development section..!

Not the phone number.
But you can email me at [email protected]
Downgrade is same as upgrade.
Step one get a ftf file.(to get ftf file of 4.4.2 just search on xda or xperiFirm)
Step two open flash tool reboot device in flash mode select ftf file in flash tool in wipe menu un mark data and click on flash.
Wait for it to be flashed.
OR
Root using 4.4.4 method. Only thing you loose is cwm. But if you know flashing well then you can always flash cwm and use it then revert back to stock.

i'm on stryflex (sony lollipop themed cm12.1) rom. and i don't have any wifi problems.
go to the link below and follow the instructions carefully to download install the stryflex rom. you will have no problems.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-l/development/rom-stryflex2013266073-lp-official-sony-t3178049
if you dont want to change the rom,you can try changing the kernel. try one of the followings.
1 ) Zapdos kernel for cm12.1 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-l/development/kernel-cyanogenmod-12-1-kernel-t3078301
2 ) ThunderZap kernel (i think this only support cm12 beta 2) - http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-l/orig-development/kernel-thunderzap-4-1-r2-sound-control-t2390831
Happy flashing & let me know if this worked for you.
