[Q] Samsung Galaxy S Plus (GT-I9001) WLAN problems - General Questions and Answers

Hello,
sorry for this post here, but I cannot find a better place for this question to my GT-I9001.
I have a dream... I dream I could use a newer kernel than 2.3.6 (last Samsung stock) or 2.3.7 (MIUI 2.4.6) and WLAN also supports not only the newest WLAN APs with WPS function.
When I use a never kernel like 4.x.x (CM or any other developer, there is no difference), so I see only WLAN-APs with WPS function. My older device (AVM FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN 7170 (UI) ) are no longer found. It makes no difference if I add this WLAN AP manually (SSID, Security WPA2, Password).
10 different kernels I have tried the last few days - now I am back on the last providerfree german stock rom (I9001XXKQM I9001XXKPO I9001DBTKQ2 10.2012 DBT Germany 2.3.6).
Could any say whats the mistake is so that this is a permanently problem on all newer kernels (Newer than GB)?
Thanks from Dresden

Android 2.2 (Froyo) and Pairing with Car-Kit/rSAP/HFP

Hello everyone,
I would like to share my experience in pairing my Galaxy 3 with the Car-Kit. The configuration is as follows:
Phone: Samsung Galaxy 3 GT-i5800 with Android 2.2 Froyo (not official)
Car-Kit: Bluetooth Touch-Adapter, No: 3C0051435TA
Auto: VW-Passat, Year 2007
In the VW-Specification this phone is not at all supported, and was not possible to pairing with the Touch-Adapter.
Than, I looked into the bluetooth configuration and made some small changes (my phone is rooted) to activate Hands Free Profile.
And it works!!! now I can pairing my phone and get the contacts form SIM into the adapter.
If you're interested I can provide the modified config files and for the users with no rooted phones an update.zip (I must try first).
Yes, please do ))
I've been having the same problem.

Ok. I'll try this weekend to post something.
Bluetooth configuration
Hello,
As I promised, the user with ROOTED phone must unzip and overwrite the attached config audio.conf file in the folder
/system/etc/bluetooth/audio.conf
The config file is from Android 2.2 (Froyo) but you can look to the similar settings for other versions of android.
If it works PLEASE give me a feedback with the following infos (useful for other users too):
Phone: - brand, model, android version
Car-Kit: - brand, model, etc.
Auto: - brand, model, year
Will do, thanks a lot.
It doesn't work, keep getting "incompatível phone" error.
Tried swapping the audio config file with yours, deleting autopair and blacklist files, restoring the old audio config without restoring autopair and blacklist...
No results.
My phone is an HTC Desire with unofficial froyo.
The car is a VW golf from 2010, equipped with a premium rcd 510 radio.
Thanks and have a nice weekend.

I'm really sorry. I flashed my phone with a new version, rechanged the audio.conf and still works. But for HTC there are mod roms? Aren't they? These mods are supposed to be better than the stock ones!?
I'm using the latest MCR Rom witch is quite good,i think the problem is brand related.
This Android - RSap incompatibility is well documented, its open issue #4402 .
I read somewhere Samsung had implemented RSAP in their software, so maybe it's brand specific and only Samsung Android Phones will work with RSAP.
Thanks for your kindness.

[Q] Bluetooth tethering w/o root between android phones

Hello everybody,
I'm trying to develop an Android application in order to enable bluetooth tethering between two android phones without the need of root permissions.
I found in the market PdaNet as example..
How is it possible to create such an application?
Are there some API already present?
Thanks in advance
Hi,
I'm not really sure that there's an API for that, but based on the much discussion about bluetooth tethering between two android devices, I suppose the answer is no.
if you get to a beta test fase (even alpha), count me in.
I have:
- Samsung Galaxy TAB 7.0 plus (GT-P6210) with original 3.2 kernel;
- LG Optimus One (P500H) with official 2.3.3 version.
both are rooted, by the way.

[Q] ad-hoc support on jenkings build?

Hi guys. i love Jelly Bean 4.2.2. Jenkings build is the best 4.2.2 ROM out there for our O1, but one of the things that i complain about is that jenkings build does not support ad-hoc wifi networks. I downloaded programs to use a Virtual Wifi Network on my computer (i have windows 8) but it does not work properly because my WiFi card are not fully suported for this feature. So i can't have a stable wifi network. But WiFi ad-hoc works just well.
My question is: is there a way to add wifi ad-hoc support to jenkings build?

OK after a whole afternoon of research, i found an app that enables wifi ad-hoc support on our O1. i test it on evoking 1.9 beta but i believe it should work on any other jb roms (maybe on stock GB-FROYO? )
UPDATE: it does not work on Jenkings JB T_T
Moderators: i don't know if this app is a paid-app. i found it on a russian forum. its name is WiFi ad-hoc enabler (also i couldn't find it on play store)

[Q] Problem running OmniNotes

Is anyone successfully running Omni-Notes ( https://federicoiosue.github.io/Omni-Notes/ ) ?
I'm trying to run it on my N8010 (stock rom) but it just keeps crashing. Since there's no response from the developer I wonder if its just me, or Omni-Notes.
It runs fine on my Moto-G (Android 4.4.2) so it looks like a N80xx or Android 4.2.2 problem.
According to the developer:
Actually it seems to be a Samsung customized firmwares bug.
It happens because Omni Notes uses the new Android 4.2 APIs to implement easily RTL support.
Other firmware when encountering unknow tags used for this purpose simply jumps them. Samsung does not.

Is there a solution or workaround for this?
