Nobody can make that decision for you because there is no best ROM just what is best for YOU. Try them all out and see which one suits you tastes/needs best. That's the only way to answer this question.
If I had a dollar for every time I said that, I'd be making money in a very weird way.

Try Miui Rom(4,5 whichever you like). Its fast, clean and full of features.

I am using MIUI V5 but MIUI lockscreen isn't working. It will show only stock moto lockscreen. If you like stock android experience then go for Carbon ROM. It is really fast. I got 10,200 score on Antutu. BTW my phone is 1.2Ghz overclocked.

What is the best ROM now???

Guys, sorry about the noob question...I never had other ROM in my cap...and now Im going to try one of those we have here...So, can you guys tell me your opinion about the nicest ROM nowadays???
And could you give me the link as well???
Odin file is better for me...
Thanks buddies...
Mine.
Clearly.
No bias here.
None whatsoever.
They all have their own features.. not sure there really is a "best".
I wouldn't think in terms of ROM but core functionality.
Do you want overclocked or no overclocked? I9000 ROM, vibrant ROM, or a ATT leak Cappy ROM?
Do you want a ROM with a good community base to ask questions for help or do you not really care? If u want this go for a ROM with a high # of daily posts like axura (+1) or perception.
Also I recommend getting comfortable with clockwork over odin, it has a lower failure rate

The best rom is the one you just flashed successfully, as I see most people flashing different roms every other day. They are all pretty similar, I see Cognition/Perception as the beginner's ROM of choice and the rom most likely to satisfy you if you don't want to flash all the time.

Has nothing to do with ROMs and everything to do with Kernels.

Like HTML and Flash, they're only oppositional if you (foolishly) choose to make them that way.
Well, for a new person I think getting into kernels and modems might be a little much to intake all at once. What I think is that you should do is this:
Download Assonance, Perception, Axura, and whatever else is big and flash them one after another. Play with each for about 30 minutes and then decide what you like.
This will get you used to flashing roms too, which is important because once you pick a rom, you'll be flashing it biweekly (lol). Get used to ODIN (flashing back to stock), Download mode, ClockWorkManager (flashing a new rom) and TitaniumBackup (saving your angry birds progress through flashes =P, jk it backs up all apps and data).
For one, I like having the mobileAP tethering of Perception and the ability to toggle WCDMA/GSM (I have choppy WCDMA reception at my house)
But each rom has their own perks, you should check them all out and make a decision based on your own likes/desires. stop being lazy there is no best rom. lol
Yeah, there's not an easy answer for that question.
I would try out each ROM for 4 - 5 days and pick your favorite. I always keep my eyes on the change-logs for all of the ROMs though.
Personally, I use the ROM with the most humorous thread title.
That is what stickies are for
Stop making these threads and start reading stickies.
It is all trial and error for what works best for you. Ill give you an example. Some roms have headphone jack probs and for some that is a deal breaker but for me sense I use BT for everything I dont really need it and a rom without a working jack (phone calls) is not a big deal for me.
So in closing there is no best rom just best for you. Good luck on your journey
I deem this closed

Stable ROM for lite Android user (At&t Nexus)

I really hate to start another "best ROM" thread but I need some help from experienced Nexus users. I recently rooted my girls Nexus S in order to get rid of some of the bugs with the stock ROM. I put the latest CM stable on the phone but after a few days she started complaining about random reboots. I'm looking for a stable (stable being the keyword) ROM, with maybe a few added features. Also considering just putting a custom kernel with the stock ROM but once again looking stability. I wish I could just steal her phone for a week and find out for myself but sadly I cannot. Thanks for any suggestions!
oxygen seems to be your best bet. stability, functionality, and great features (like status bar toggles). it's pretty much the gold standard and i've yet to find any fault with it.

ha i faced the same prob with my wife's evo. she hated the look of sense ("too much WHITE").
best of luck!
if you want have best UI , then MIUI would definitely your first choice
if you wanna have stable one , stock ,oxygen and CM7 are your options
but i strongly suggest you try MIUI at least once , specially with these tweaked version such as Brainmaster's

Yeah, I know about MIUI as I've used it on my Shift but I think she would like to stick to more Vanilla Android. CM7 is where I had problems on the phone.. several random reboots. I'm going to snag her phone today or tomorrow and try Oxygen and Stock with a custom kernel.

If u are looking for a stock looking rom I would say try bugles beast rom. Its stock but with modifications to improve user experience. I've never had issues with his rom no reboots or freezes. And it has great battery life. But I will also vote for brainmaster miui. Very smooth. Ohh and another good one is dreamsforgotten tsm pool party rom. It has custom lockscreens and its snappy and smooth.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I'm just going to have to steal her phone and try out a few of the different ROMs/kernels ya'll suggested. Btw, I've never been a big fan of Sammy but after getting it rooted and ROM'ed, the Nexus S is a bit pretty slick device.

i agree, miui is awesome. but is sms still broken in brainmaster's? and his girl may not appreciate no 4g either
As many people said, Oxygen will be your best choice. But u definitely want to give Bugless Beast a chance.

I've been using NSCollab for about a month now, its been buttery smooth and stable so far.

And, pick any of the 400 or so posts that already exist about ICS and they will explain if ICS is coming out for the SkyRocket anytime soon.
I hope this helps.
Honestly, I am still using QuikWiz. I have yet to use any of the UCLA based Roms. I hear they are good though. But, I have my phone set up the way I like it and don't really want to change it. Runs smooth and I enjoy it. Only issue is the ics keyboard would crash on occasion, so I replaced it with the Swype keyboard and I could not be happier. I use to be a real Rom whore, but now I am too lazy to take the time to dial a new one in to how I like it.

Get Rc7 Speed Stripped and add what you need only. Also google what you can safely freeze.
But honestly use what u have and wait for ICS custom ROMs to come out for Skyrocket, people are working on it already.

[Q] Best ICS or AOSP??

I'm on ARHD for a few days, good ROM but less fun than ROACH VANILLA (some freezes, no custom reboot menu).
I want to change it but :
-what is the best? (no bugs or too hard for a noob like me)?
-i want to keep all apps (too lazy with Titanium...)
Thanks a lot for your advices and hope i don't annoy you with noob question...
Answered your own question.
Aosp or aokp you would have to install gapps and run tb for your other apps. So if you don't want to do that then.......
OK, but in that case what is the best??

There's no such thing as best rom. Every user's usage pattern is different. If you're asking for opinions, i'm pretty sure there's going to be alot of different opinions coming from different users. Even you can't make your own decision which rom to flash.
Try every rom for a few days. Performance and stability is what you should look for in a rom. Once you've found the one that suits you best, stick with it.

Help me choice a rom

For two week's now now,my girlfriend keep asking pe to fiind a nice custom rom for her galaxy fit for the only reason she is bored with a official one. I tried some, i have some experiace in flashing rom( that is not a problem). But i intalled her 4 and keep asking me to find other. She doesn't need great performace because she plays app's like pou, where's, my water and she just don't need to experience lag(that's her main argument each tine). I can't find any "girly" rom and i think a launcher will only make the phone slower due to the lack of ram memory and only 600 ghz cpu.. I hope someone can help me with this matter .
try GingerDx rom
its cm7 based it has good performance so that she can play those games
plus you can use some pink themes for cm7 to make it look the way she likes

LOL!!! Even its for u GF or for ur grandparents, asking for best rom is prohibited in XDA...
Thanks to other for help, and if you read again i didn't asked for best rom.I asked for a simple rom for girl, i didn't sayd the "best rom" i was looking for a recommendation.
Not to blame you but it all comes down to Best Rom...most of the people ask for best rom for performance, customizing, and of course bugless, no battery drain and what u asked for might be kind of AOSP which is simple with no bloatware (well that's what "simple" really means in android)..OK its upto Moderators to think about it....
hm...girly, i don't have much experience
how about Jana Rom? my fiends like that, they are girls of course..
simple and nice to customize with pink colour, though
LOL!!!
