I need a step by step guide to update my Htc sensation xe.
It is still running under GB 2.3.4
The thing is i can't go through with a OTA update because when i bought it it was already running under a custom rom which is 1.73.708.2 ( software version)
Under recovery mode it says.
Locked
Pyramid PVT ship S-off RL
Hboot 1.18.0000
Clockwork mod
AlpharevX v4.0.1.4
If there's any info that you would guys need just let me know.

flash 3.33 universal firmware from here

follow the instructions to the letter
and before flashing check md5 sums(important)
after that you will have to flash an ics or jelly bean rom from recovery
because your current rom(gingerbread) won't boot with ics firmware

I have lately decide to root my htc sensation Z710a and install Android revolution HD XE at first it seems to install fine asking me about the options i want and then when i decide to reboot it gets stuck at the beats audio logo. I have forgot to make a back up ( its stupid i know) so all i can do is go into the bootloader.
Here is what it says in at the top of the bootloader

of course you'll get bootloop...also you phone is never bricked until you have bootloader
the reason is you have an old firmware...update it to ICS firmware (if you flashed ARHD 6.x series)

get 3.32 firmware from the thread...and follow steps 4 and 5 from this thread to update the firmware
then reboot and you are good to go

I got my htc sensaiton from my friend 2 days ago.
I want to use a ARHD ICS 6.6.3 so I try to follow this thread.

But now I'm stuck in 4 step (Flashing the custom rom)
My cid is HTC_O53 So I try to download a firmware package that support my CID.(HTC_O53)

I put a download file name "PG58IMG.zip" into my sdcard and then boot into bootloader and it automatically install.
After that I've choose "reboot bootloader".
But my HBOOT doesnt change to 3.32 it still 1.18.0000 version.
So I can't continue superwipe and install a ARHD because I try to install with hboot 1.18.0000 and It stuck in HTC Boot Logo..
So what can I do ?
Please help me.

Hi,
With an hboot of 1.18 ,you should try to S-off,and SuperCID using revolutionary.
Look Here
When you come to CWM use 5.0.2.0 HERE
When you are successfully s-off,and SuperCID,then you can Go HERE ,where you will find everything you need to upgrade to ARHD ICS...
Read everything carefully,then read it AGAIN,and you should be fine.

now i am thinking of flashing ordroid 9.0.0
i just want to ask whether it is okay to proceed with flashing a custom recovery and then the rom or are there any extra steps i must take??
S off is security off if you do not s off you will have to flash rooms differently and you will not have as much freedom. Its best to s off in my onion if possible. Do search read guide about how to s off. I am rooted and s off and it makes flashing really easy in my opnion.
So go ahead and s off. Before you flash rom make sure and have correct firmware for the rom. Ics takes 3.32 firmware. Gingerbread roms take a different firmware. I use mostly ics or 4.0.3 roms so I use 3.32 firmware. This is the one you will need also for the ics rom. You can find the firmware in Android development. So s off get your firmware then you should be able to flash your rom. Best of luck and hope this helps

well, if you're already S-OFF and all is good, go ahead and flash a custom recovery of course, either CWM or 4EXT...then as realsis mentioned, you'll need a 3.32 firmware for ICS. if you're already SuperCID, go to the relative thread and download the first one you find. follow the flashing instructions and all will be good.
also, you will need to super wipe before flashing a new sense 4 ROM.
that said, please backup your original ROM before flashing a custom ROM.

Hi,
Since you are s-off via Revolutionary,you should be fine to flash custom recovery and custom ROM.
Does it still say "Revolutionary" in your hboot ,after your OTA update?
Don't forget your firmware! Very important OK. 3.32 for ICS roms. Best wishes happy flashing!

you have to upgrade your firmware version in order to flash cm9 because it can't be run on gingerbread firmware

BTW, Where can I find the right firmware in order to update it to Jelly bean and CM10 ROM?

I thought revolutionary can't work with sensation xe cos I only saw sensation on it...so pls to be sure can I use revolutionary method and can I flash a custom rom on s-on and it will work perfect......the rom u posted the link is does not match my phone will it work cos mine is orange uk

it doesn't matter what was you stock rom
you can flash any rom in sensation/xe/4G devices
by the way unfortunately there in no orange uk ruu with your firmware
exists only one with a lower firmware than yours but you can't use it because you are on S-ON(S-ON devices can't downgrade)
so your options are limited

Thank u very much for ur support,I have tried to flash 4ext recovery via hboot cos I get freezed on htc bootloop....its given cid incorrect...and I have tried to s-off via revolutionary but can't boot to desktop...sorry for the disturb

you can't flash any pg58img.zip(except ruu.exe) directly from bootloader
use step 2 from here on how to flash 4ext recovery
