FM Radio on Nexus 5? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Some leaked specs sheet say it's got FM Radio, but it's hard to believe after a history of Nexus not having it.
What do you think?
To me it can be what makes me forget Nexus 5, as I do use the FM Radio daily.

Wrong section. Questions are not for the General Section.
And btw nobody can answer your question because the phone isn't released yet.
Speculations are useless so. At least I'm thinking that

I think this should go to Q&A, anyway I don't think the nexus 5 will have it. From what I know even nexus 4 soc was able to handle fm radio but the function was hw disabled, the pins used by fm radio was not soldered to the mainboard at all so I think it's pretty clear Google is against fm radio on Android phones.

Sorry for the wrong section. Please feel free to move it where it belongs.
I'm deciding what new phone to buy, waiting for Nexus 5, and to me FM Radio is very important.
Thanks for your opinions. XDA people know a lot and I value the opinions here higher than in other forums.
Cheers.

No chance mate, the N1 only had fm radio coz the radio files were extracted from the Desire. Subsequently the NS, Galaxy Nexus and the N4 haven't received fm support. So I'd expect the same with the N5

Are you guys talking about software or hardware? Cause the software solution may be Spirit FM

There is a higher customs tax on importing devices into the US that receive FM radio, thus I suppose that is why manufacturers disable that function.

There's a link to a post about the N5 on the first page of the thread. I guess we'll have to wait and see if it's going to work.

[Q] Nexus s worth buying?

Is it still worth €150? Or should i get the LG Optimus 2x? Both would be used. How's jelly bean running? Also, how many space for apps?
I would buy it. The price is not Bad. It is a i9020 or i9023? JB is on the Nexus S really smooth. Batterylife is ok. And they are many Roms too.

bought mine for about $200 in my country. now it replaces my cowon j3 as a music player (voodoo + poweramp w/ tweaked eq).
Space might be depended on the rom and partition configuration. Running SlimBean with 1GB available, you can always move the app to SDcard if you need more.
If you are willing to flash roms and customize it then it might be worth buying, but for a little more you can get a Galaxy Nexus. Also I don't feel the camera is good enough anymore, but I do find the GPS signal on this pretty better than other Galaxy S variants.
Converting to USD, 150 euro is a bit much for now, but maybe 140 or less.
Its the best phone I've owned.
I can do everything in one device now. I've sold my sat nav and now I can do away with my iPod after setting up Google Music. I was looking to get a S2 or maybe a Galaxy Nexus, but I listen to a lot of music at work and both those devices haven't got a decent sound chip, unlike the Nexus S . So I will be keeping the Nexus S for the foreseeable future.
I think if you want flash ROMs go for it.
But at stock its still good.

I would always buy Nexus. The Galaxy Nexus is too big so I still vote for the S. It's really smooth with Strawberry ROM from kzno. The only thing that's really bad is the GPS signal. No chance to use it for navigation.

Mine have good GPS signal. I can even get it indoor. Might want to try this to improve the signal: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=878970

Miracast

With yesterday's big announcement of the next iteration of android comes some really cool features. Though it's uncertain if the nexus s is gonna get the update. The one feature that's got me very curious is the wireless display. It uses Miracast, any know about this technology? It's it hardware limited or is it software. In other words what are the chances this week work for our phone?
Discuss.

If miracast is a program, than it will work on nexus s. You just need TV or some device with Wi-Fi(or bluetooth) so you can connect to it.

Built in FM Radio

According to AT&T's web page the Galaxy S4 has a built in FM radio...
Would it not be more useful to include digital radio instead?
I didn't see that that's very cool I pre order mine though ATT

Yeah, ATT ads are not made by tech people judging from the number of mistakes they make.

Woukd be COOL if true? But the ATT page when the SGS2 came out said it had the fm radio which was a mistake. Plus the link you have also stats Gorilla Glass 2? Which I thought it is supposed to have Gorilla Glass 3? So again I wont believe it UNTIL I see it in person.

Look at walmart's description. They say the S4 has a dual core processor with an 8 MP camera. Stopped reading after that.
Just don't get your hopes up folks. We know more than the ad men, the customer service reps, and in a lot of cases the tech support too.
Duely blundered from my thunderdolt.

HTC 1 shows a built in FM tuner.... Makes me wonder if Sammy decided to add that in at the last second.... or AT&T is a bunch of deceiving liars.... :crying:

I know the international version had it. So I was stating that when the ATT version came out Att's website showed it had the fm tuner as well. As all the US versions know they took it out and didnt offer it.

anyone care to help me?
With Franco Kernel, the nexus 5 has better battery life than any other phone I've had bar none. So don't worry about battery life if you don't mind flashing a kernel.

Also no one can tell YOU what phone to buy for YOU. YOU have to compare specs, find out which features are important to you, what kind of UI if any you like, the reliability of the manufacturer, the construction of case, size of screen, camera capabilities...Why have someone tell you what kind of phone you will be stuck with for awhile?
No. No one can help you, we are on the nexus 5 forums due to being fans of nexus, so most of us will say nexus. You've already stated you're not interested in the nexus 5 due to a misconstrued idea about "poor battery life" so your in the wrong forum altogether.

This should have been your only post then...It could of simply been "I found this thread and maybe that will help your decision"
I am sorry for posting in thread but you have not read my PM. Now your campaign and complaints against the Nexus 5 stops here. I recommend you go to your carrier's website and post on the community there if you feel like you need to persuade others not to purchase that phone. 99% of the people reading your posts here already have the phone so your constant tirade of complaining posts only serve to annoy.
This is a development site made by developers for developers. Be part of the solution, not part of the problem.

I feel being the only satisfied N5 owner around. I NEVER ran out of battery but I don't go through the day playing games or looking at videos, (some people have to work...)
If you already have a Note3, just keep it ! it's a very very desirable phone , like the N5 is for half the money.

quote. when nexus 5 was launched he has same issues like battery life, speacker volume but everything is solvable with roms!!
my battery life (with franco kernel) is awesome.. (2d and 17/18h)
nexus 5 is the best one for me in this moment.

Nearly Phone Upgrade Time!!

So I'm wondering what to go for, has to be on as stock android as possible
So far I've been waiting for the new nexus 5x (if its been called that?) But was thinking maybe a oneplus 2 or something? Are there any others I've not seen much about?
The spec of the oneplus 2 is pretty impressive for the price, but always lived a good nexus
