Why SyndicateROM Frozen?​
All of you Epic users who have been around the XDA community for a while probably recognize the SyndicateROM name. The original DI18-based SyndicateROM was one of the fastest, most refined, and most popular ROMs of its time. SyndicateROM Frozen is based on the official EC05 release of Android 2.2.1, and is built from the ground up for speed, stability, and battery life.
What's the secret sauce? Carrier IQ, the infamous Sprint spyware package, has been completely removed! More details in the second post - you won't believe what we found! Themers and other mod developers take note, many modifications were made to the system in order to achieve this exclusive feature.
What's in SyndicateROM Frozen?​SyndicateROM Frozen is:

Unlike the original, SyndicateROM Frozen comes in only two editions - Standard, and Fully Loaded. Standard is designed to be a combination of the previous Superslim and Standard - a lean, mean, super-fast battery-sipping machine. The developer's choice!
SyndicateROM Standard includes LauncherPro. All Samsung and Sprint bloatware are completely gone!
SyndicateROM Fully Loaded features TouchWiz instead of LauncherPro, and adds in Social Network Sync, Facebook, BuddiesNow, Program Monitor, and the stock live wallpapers. All the rest of the bloat is still gone!
Both versions feature Wireless and Wired Tether preinstalled!
Tweaks and bugfixes in SyndicateROM Frozen and the Twilight Zone kernel include:

Installation Notes - READ THIS!​
If you are not on EC05 or SyndicateROM Frozen 1.0.1/1.0.2: Use Odin to flash the EC05 modem. UNCHECK EVERYTHING EXCEPT "AUTO REBOOT". Ensure you are on CWM3. Wipe data for best results, and flash the ROM.
If you coming from the EC05 OTA (stock): Download the ROM and copy it to your SD card first, then use the CWM3 one-click, wipe data, and flash the ROM.
If you are coming from another EC05 ROM with the EC05 modem: Just flash the ROM. If you get any FCs at all, wipe data and reflash.
If you are coming from SyndicateROM Frozen 1.0.1/1.0.2: Flash the EC05 modem in Odin (UNCHECK EVERYTHING EXCEPT "AUTO REBOOT"), then flash the ROM.
This package will automatically backup and restore your data.

Important Notes​
To ROM devs: A clean version of the affected frameworks and other files have been uploaded here. Other than Carrier IQ's removal, the Throttle Service has also been removed, along with the Sprint RTSP and HTTPPD proxies. Aside from those changes they are stock. Note all of the APKs in that package must be given the same signature, along with anything else using android.uid.shared (including TouchWiz, Sns*, and more). If the CIQ removal process causes any unforseen issues, please join us at irc.fossnet.info #acs-users, we'll be happy to help.
To themers: Your themes are still fully compatible with SyndicateROM Frozen! However, you should download the package above, and make sure that if your theme modifies any of the included files, you use the versions from this ROM to prevent FCs in your users' systems.
To theme and users: Do not use themes or mods unless they are designed for EC05 and explicitly compatible with this ROM!

Put simply - and bluntly - Carrier IQ is a software package buried deep within Android by Samsung at the behest of Sprint. It has been in active use since the time of the Moment, if not before. The company that develops it, also known as Carrier IQ, bills it as "Mobile Service Intelligence". In their own words,
[T]he combination of the MSIP and IQ Insight lets you move seamlessly from broad trend data across many users, through comparative groups down to diagnostic data from individual devices. Now, not only can you identify trends, you have the power to drill down to specific instances, giving you the insight your specialists need to make a difference.

On its own, that description can vary from harmless, to worrying, depending on how you look at it. It's not until one drills deep down into the system and ferrets out every piece of the software that one truly knows what it contains. As some of you might remember, we took the first steps toward disabling the Carrier IQ software with the release of SyndicateROM and Xtreme Kernel 1.0. That, however, didn't even scratch the surface.
Carrier IQ's native libraries are plainly visible - libiq_client.so and libiq_service.so in /system/lib. During every boot, this service is launched - you can see it in Settings > Applications > Running Services as "IQAgent Service". These native libraries are called by non-native (Android application) libraries located in ext.jar (the client) and framework.jar (the service). Removal of these (rather obviously-named) libraries alone, be it the .so files or the libraries in framework or ext, will, obviously, break boot. So I had to dig deeper. To make a long story short, reference to the IQ Service and IQ Client were littered across the deepest portions of the framework, and some of the most basic functions of the Android system as we know it.
Carrier IQ as a platform is designed to collect "metrics" at any scale. What I found it to hook into is far beyond the scope of anything a carrier needs - or should want - to be collecting. Carrier IQ sits in the middle of, and "checks" the data of, SMS and MMS messages. It listens for and receives every battery change notifications. It hooks into every web page you view, and every XML file your device reads. It receives every press of the touch screen. It 'sees' what you type on the physical keyboard. It reads every number you press in the dialer. It can track which applications you use, what 'type' they are, how often, and for how long. It hooks into data sent and received.
I and my fellow users ask Samsung and Sprint - why do you want this information? Why do you need it? Why is the capability in place?
The only saving grace - if there is one - to this nasty, ten-legged mutant spider is that its logs are off by default. During the investigation process, I was able to enter its UI. Below are two screenshots of it.

That being said, the question still must be asked - why is the service even running? Why does Sprint and Samsung feel the need to leave a dormant monster in every one of its most loyal customers' phones?
Here's the most important part (tl;dr): the Carrier IQ service is a drain on battery life and performance. In testing, I and others noticed a significant rise in Smartbench scores and overall system 'snappiness' after Carrier IQ's removal. In addition, with it removed, a prominent tester saw 30 hours of battery life, with heavy use, on the stock battery.

Holy crap. This is SO fast! But, being fast isn't the only thing that I need... extensive battery testing tomorrow!
Ok, so, the battery life of 30 hours that the team leader experienced is a littleeee high. I'm getting 15 hours or so with only like 6 hours of heavy usage with like 20% remaining. Then again, I haven't calibrated my battery which I did this morning so the percentages could have been off.
All in all, this ROM is blazing fast and a noticeable difference from SyndicateROM Shuriken (DI18 Eclair ROM). The first Quadrant score I got was over 2000 which impressed the crap out of me. Now, I never actually used stock EB13, so I really have nothing to compare this to except for ViperROM while I was on DK28. This ROM just seems faster and has a MUCH better battery life. Definitely recommend this 100%.
Oh, also, I've noticed that the hardware keyboard seems to not skip any keys. This is with only Swype activated... I tried to use the Gingerbread Keyboard too, but it seemed to result in a LOT of skipped keys on the hardware keyboard so keep this in mind.
The rotation delay fix on these forums seem to work.
I haven't tried GPS as there really wasn't a place with reliable coverage to test it.
So, in conclusion, this ROM is amazing. I stand behind ACS 100% on their work and I thank them for releasing such great quality work!

Q: MD5, what is it, and what it does?
A: It ensures that the file is downloaded correctly and completly to avoid issues when installing/using it.​
Q: Do I need to perform a full wipe when upgrading from old version of your ROM?
A: We always recommend to perform a full wipe, but if we didn't mention that it's mandatory, you can live without it. Perform a full wipe if you experience any issues.​
Q: My computer doesn't recognize my device?
A: Download and install latest HTC Sync Manager from here.​
Q: Several HTC widgets are missing?
A: Go to tweaks app -> advanced -> fix widgets.​
Q: I found a theme or mod, will it work on this ROM?
A: It's NOT recommended to use any mod/theme that isn't clearly state that it's compatible with our ROM. Themes/Mods always use framework files which will brake tweaks in our ROM.​
Q:What is PnPMgr daemon?
A: You can change maximum CPU and GPU frequency using aroma installer options.New rules and improvements are added from HTC One profile, like maximum CPU screen-off frequency 1026 MHz, optimal CPU frequency settings for updated ondemand governor and boot-time performance lock which will decrease booting time. We recommend setting CPU/GPU speeds via aroma and not change them later via 3d party apps, u can still change speeds via Venom tweaks for benchmarks and similar but than you wont benefit from PnPMgr which has many rules and policies defined, for example when you launch navigation then maximum CPU frequency is limited to 900 MHz, when you are using camera in HDR or Panorama mode, both cores are enabled, in launcher when you changing screens both cores also are always enabled.​
Q: What is KSM?
A: - KSM decreases memory usage by sharing identical memory pages among different processes. Result is more free ram, but also this option may use some extra CPU power. You can change this option inside Venom Tweaks and set memory scanning speed.​
Q: My benchmark score is not as high as on different ROMs. What does it mean?
A: It means absolutely nothing. Benchmarks on Android are more or less lottery, and they are not showing the real system performance. There are many tweaks that can force benchmark apps to show higher score, but it's faked performance, that can actually slow down your phone in some circumstances. What I always emphasize is a real performance, the one you can feel under your fingers. Remember that I/O has some limit and surpassing it shows just a numbers without true ratio.​

Download the the latest ViperOne full ROM zip from the download section
Place the file somewhere on your phone storage. Alternatively, if you have a USB OTG cable (I have this exact one), you can place the rom on a USB key (FAT32, NTFS are all supported).
Confirm the MD5 on the download page matches the MD5 of the file on your phone (ES File Explorer will show the MD5 of the file)
Reboot to TWRP Recovery
Backup current ROM if desired
Install ROM using TWRP and select wipe during aroma install if coming from another base
Reboot and Enjoy

5. How do I make my device look like stock?
To disable some of the tweaks, do the following:
Disable HEQS (Horizontal Enhanced Quick Settings): Long press the date in the notification bar for about 2 seconds to toggle between modes until it's hidden
Disable Weather: Tweaks - Status Bar - Weather - Hide
Disable Header Text (cpu usage, etc.): Tweaks - Status Bar - Header - Information - Hide
Disable VEQS (Vertical Enhanced Quick Settings): Tweaks - Status Bar - Vertical quick settings - Disable
6. I have a problem with the ROM (FC, Boot Loop, apps closing automatically). How can I get my problem resolved?
First things first. Try wiping data and replicating the issue:
Rebooting into Recovery
Perform a Nandroid backup (of just Data if you wish)
Flash the ROM and select the option to "Wipe Data"
Try replicating the issue
If the problem persists, capture a logcat and send it to me.
To capture a logcat, If you have fastboot setup, you already have the drivers installed and probably already have adb.exe in the same folder as fastboot.exe:
Open the Command Prompt (run it as Administrator if UAC is enabled in Windows)
run adb logcat >c:\logcat.txt
To capture an FC, use the command adb shell "logcat | grep AndroidRuntime" >c:logcat.txt
Press Control-C to stop logging
Paste the contents of c:\logcat.txt into http://pastebin.com
Post the link here with the problem being experienced

7. Whats the md5 sum thing?
It ensures, that the rom is downloaded correctly and completly to avoid weird issues when installing/using the rom. Google for "md5 sum checker" and you should find what you need.​
8. I found a theme or mod, will it work on this rom?
It's NOT recommended to use mod/themes that dont clearly state, that they are compatible with our rom. Thems/Mods always use framework files which will brake mods/stuff in our rom.​
9. My question is not listed here, what to do?
Ensure you used the xda search, google and your brain before asking a question in the thread. If you cant find an answer yourself we will answer your question for sure! (-:​
10. My media (pictures, music, etc.) is not listed in the Gallery/HTC Music/etc.
Try rescanning your SDCARD by using an app such as Media Scanner​
11. What are the correct sizes for custom carrier logo?
Try 100x100​
12. How do I update my firmware?
@Red5 has created some very detailed instructions on updating your firmware. While it's not required, I highly recommend upgrading it since it improves the responsiveness of the touch panel and upgrades your radio to a newer version.

That's a bug HTC introduced.
HTC tech recommendation:
Go to settings - wifi - setttings - wifi direct and rename your device to something shorter ( 3-5 characters)
Confirmed by several users, that it'll work

17. I don't get an activation mail for my venom account?
MSN, hotmail, outlook and probably other providers seem to have problems receiving those activation mails.
Gmail should definitely work.
To be able to register with a different mail got to:
Settings->Accounts & Sync: Venom: Remove account
No you can reregister. If you still got issues, drop @j to the 4n a pm​​

[2014|02|16] ViperOne and Firmware...
Intro:​Generally speaking, Firmware does not have much to do with the ROM. As such, the ViperOne thread does not need a special section on this subject and i will only be brief with this.
However, at some rare occasions, it does make sense to talk about Firmware in relation to the ROM. I will try to catch some of that to avoid repeat questions.
For those who want to dive right in, you may hop over to my dedicated thread, which also features links to further firmware threads (i am not able to keep that up-to-date at all times, so you might find more current solutions in the other firmware threads).

Q:
Is GSM firmware compatible with CDMA (Sprint/Verizon) or vice versa?
A:
Absolutely, NO.
Please don’t cross-flash firmware! The HTC ONE for CDMA (for example M7_wls / MID PN0720000) has two partitions more than the M7_ul variant and is very different in many aspects. Only this ViperOne ROM can run on GSM and CDMA (currently only Sprint), not so much the firmware. IF you managed to flash GSM firmware to your CDMA HTC ONE, i recommend going HERE and fix.
Q:
Do we need to have Firmware version matching ROM version?
A:
General answer: NO.
In some situations, an update to your firmware can prove useful nonetheless. When that will be necessary cannot be told up front. A good rule of thump might be to update firmware, whenever there is a change of Android base version, e.g. upgrading from Android 4.4 to Android 4.4.2.
Generally, you will notice the necessity by following the daily postings of users. If you see lots of random errors popping up and people getting angry with each other, the trolls coming out and telling everyone to wipe over and over again, it might be time to start over and reboot to bootloader, update all partitions to the latest version and wipe as good as you can and reflash a virgin copy of ViperOne.
A good example was the update from ViperOne 2.7 (Android 4.2.2) to ViperOne 3.xx (Android 4.3), where a good share of people faced considerable issues with their phones, which could be solved by updating the firmware and wiping the whole chip. Oh and, yeah, updating base enabled people to redeem the free Google Drive Storage offer.
Important information: People who have not yet set their NAND security to OFF might face unexpected and unwelcome obstacles obtaining S-OFF after a firmware update via the official update channel. For the HTC One, the methods Revone, Moonshine are tied to particular firmware versions and an uninformed early update often ruins chances to get the NAND security toggled off. However, Rumrunner and lately Firewater exploits allow to obtain S-OFF on more hboot-versions so far. HTC hasn’t patched those two yet (Current as of February 2014)…
Q:
How do i update firmware?
A:
S-ON Phones can have this: backup your system in recovery, copy backup to PC, backup your files from SDCard too, then run the latest available RUU (at time of writing that was 3.22 for WWE, 3.24 for T-Mobile) and then update via HTC OTA function, after that, copy your backup back to phone and then restore your NANDROID or else: flash ViperOne clean (recommended).
Notice: you might need to lock your bootloader (fastboot oem lock) again to be able to run a RUU. Unlock again after you’re done and reflash the custom recovery as first step.
The fastest way is via Fastboot or “FUU”. Method explained in my thread, link see top of post. S-OFF Phones only.
This method includes a RUU derivate i made, which works like the original RUU but has the system.img removed. It is much smaller this way and easier to download. I like to refer to it as "The FUU" (Firmware Update Utility).
It comes in 2 flavors:
1.) Full Stock WIPE version has everything in it except the system.img and is fit to fully update your M7 from as low as version 1.20 up to the latest. It will wipe the SDCard and leave any ROM in the system partition damaged and non-functional (sometimes it would still boot though, depending on what ROM you currently run). You will need to reflash your custom stuff such as recovery, kernel, splash screen or ROM afterwards. Make sure you backup your SDCard contents before running this. This "FUU" is the most proper way to update your phone. All you do is run it in windows, then flash TWRP (ideally, for ViperOne) and then push the rom.zip via adb push command to the phone's SDCard (while booted to recovery).
2.) Combined No-Wipe FUU without the SDcard repartitioning files and TWRP Recovery already added. It also has the Kernel and Ramdisk files removed and doesn't touch the splash screen either. Theoretically, you may use this to update your firmware from as low as 1.20 up to the latest without having to reflash your ROM or even backup/restore your SDCard contents. I have done this version for those of you who believe it works or simply dont have the time to do the full thing. I am NOT recommending it though. It has given me various troubles in the past.
Then we have the ZIP’s that are also in the FUU as stand-alones for fastboot RUUmode:
3.) Full Stock WIPE RUUmode zip - same as the above FUU version, just the zip, for flashing it manually via Fastboot / RUUmode. For the Linux or Mac OSX fraction or those who just dont need the RUU file bloat.
4.) Combined No-Wipe ZIP - same as the above FUU version, just the zip, for flashing it manually via Fastboot / RUUmode. For the Linux or Mac OSX fraction or those who just dont need the RUU file bloat.
Q:
Does it matter if i update firmware before or after flashing ViperOne?
A:
Theoretically, NO.
Technically, i have repeatedly faced issues if i picked some firmware package that only included vital stuff like hboot, radio, adsp and such and flashed that on a fully set up system.
Symptoms often included the WiFi becoming less functional, less reliable, mobile data issues, Wifi/Data switching getting slow and bad, issues with file access permissions on SD, problems with access to the phone from PC etc. etc.
So i have adopted a policy of always recommending a full wipe and full firmware flash (not just a collection of the most popular partitions) and then flashing ViperOne after that.
Q:
Why does my phone show backlight illumination and black screen while charging when powered off?
A:
Reason: change in hboot and recovery by HTC.
Expected behavior: charging animation like Samsung has while the phone is charging in OFF state. It is now never fully turning off while charging but booting into recovery, charging mode instead.
Cause of Black Screen: older custom recoveries not having included HTC's current charging binaries from current stock Recovery. Use TWRP 2.6.3.3 and higher. It will show a charging animation.
Available Fix: Latest TWRP 2.6.3.3 with those binaries.
Alternative Fix: old hboot 1.44, phone will fully power down. NOT recommended!
Easy Method:
Flash the no-wipe FUU from me (Sneakyghost) like e.g this one:
my FUU with that TWRP included: FUU 4.19.
Can be run on existing ROM, doesnt wipe, updates everything, hboot is stock, not hex edited. In other words: safe. The example FUU is different than those i do as “full stock” variants, those would wipe. This one doesn’t. To find out more, head over to my thread linked at top of post.
Q:
How do i determine my current “Firmware Version”?
A:
I believe there is some wrong info circulating the HTC Fora. People keep saying when running fastboot getvar all it will report the Firmware Version in the line “Version-Main”. This is not always true though. Fastboot getvar all or alternatively getvar mainver pulls a version it finds in the MISC partition. Source
So how does that version string get there? It is being taken from the android-info.txt file in any firmware zip that you flashed. The last zip you flashed determines what will be reported by the getvar function. So if you mess around with Firmware.zip’s and RUU’s a lot, chances are, that the version reported there is not equivalent to what you are already running. Often the android-info.txt has version entries not appropriate for the actual zip contents, for compatibility reasons, because it wasn’t done properly or whatever.
The "Firmware" as a concept like we use it on XDA does not exist in HTC's terms. HTC does NOT differentiate between the /System Partition (what we know as "the ROM") and the other 36 partitions. Hence, if you run getvar all or getvar mainver on a stock phone, it will report correctly. It does not go looking for a fictitious place where it would find a separate "Firmware" version. That place it is looking at is the Misc Partition and that’s correct as long as you haven’t messed with lots of different Firmware zips.. So, if you happen to run a hybrid system with a ROM from one base and the other partition images from another base or multiple bases (like hboot from 1.27, radio from 4.06 and ROM from 4.19) the getvar function will report as "Version-Main" what it finds in /misc/, precisely the last zip you flashed determines the string put there.
Example: you flashed a radio with a RUUmode zip from Base 4.19 but the android-info.txt is maybe still an old one because the dude who made the zip, just dropped the new radio into an old existing zip, the getvar function will later report that old version as your mainver.
To check your firmware: boot to bootloader and look at the combination of hboot version and radio version - if you didn't flash those separate, the combination will let you know what base you are on (each OTA and RUU has the radioversion in its name).
Finding out your firmware is a game of guesses and knowing what you did to your device and where you are coming from.
If totally lost, you can still open your hboot with a hex editor and search for the build date line and compare to others, do hash compares with existing partition images on e.g. my thread etc etc blah blah.
Long story short: you better know what you do because finding out your firmware is going to be difficult if you don't.

Download the the latest ViperS full ROM zip from the download section
Place the file somewhere on your phone storage.
Confirm the MD5 on the download page matches the MD5 of the file on your phone (ES File Explorer will show the MD5 of the file)
Reboot to 4EXT Recovery
Backup current ROM if desired
Install ROM using 4EXT and select wipe during aroma install if coming from another base or rom
Reboot and Enjoy

4. I have a problem with the ROM (FC, Boot Loop, apps closing automatically). How can I get my problem resolved?
First things first. Try wiping data and replicating the issue:
Rebooting into Recovery
Perform a Nandroid backup (of just Data if you wish)
Flash the ROM and select the option to "Wipe Data"
Try replicating the issue
If the problem persists, capture a logcat and send it to developers.
To capture a logcat, If you have fastboot setup, you already have the drivers installed and probably already have adb.exe in the same folder as fastboot.exe:
Open the Command Prompt (run it as Administrator if UAC is enabled in Windows)
run adb logcat >c:\logcat.txt
To capture an FC, use the command adb shell "logcat | grep AndroidRuntime" >c:logcat.txt
Press Control-C to stop logging
Paste the contents of c:\logcat.txt into http://pastebin.com
Post the link here with the problem being experienced
If you still have the issue, check to see if it's been reported here and create a new incident if it already hasn't:​
5. Whats the md5 sum thing?
It ensures, that the rom is downloaded correctly and completly to avoid weird issues when installing/using the rom. Google for "md5 sum checker" and you should find what you need.​
6.:What is PnPMgr daemon?
You can change maximum CPU and GPU frequency using aroma installer options.New rules and improvements are added from HTC One profile, like maximum CPU screen-off frequency 1026 MHz, optimal CPU frequency settings for updated ondemand governor and boot-time performance lock which will decrease booting time. We recommend setting CPU/GPU speeds via aroma and not change them later via 3d party apps, u can still change speeds via Venom tweaks for benchmarks and similar but than you wont benefit from PnPMgr which has many rules and policies defined, for example when you launch navigation then maximum CPU frequency is limited to 900 MHz, when you are using camera in HDR or Panorama mode, both cores are enabled, in launcher when you changing screens both cores also are always enabled.​
7. What is KSM??
KSM decreases memory usage by sharing identical memory pages among different processes. Result is more free ram, but also this option may use some extra CPU power. You can change this option inside Venom Tweaks and set memory scanning speed.​
8. I found a theme or mod, will it work on this rom?
It's NOT recommended to use mod/themes that dont clearly state, that they are compatible with our rom. Thems/Mods always use framework files which will brake mods/stuff in our rom.​
9. My question is not listed here, what to do?
Ensure you used the xda search, google and your brain before asking a question in the thread. If you cant find an answer yourself we will answer your question for sure! (-:​
10. My media (pictures, music, etc.) is not listed in the Gallery/HTC Music/etc.
Try rescanning your SDCARD by using an app such as Media Scanner​

Xposed Modules For Theming A110Q

modify your ROM - without modifying any APK (developers) or flashing (users)!
Advantages:
No need to modify any APKs. This means:
No need to decompile, change things in smali, compile, sign, ...
It will work for odexed and deodexed ROMs.
Your mod is not bound to a specific version of the ROM. Unless there is a major change in the methods called for a certain functionality, your mod will continue to work even when you upgrade your ROM. Hell, it will probably even work with different ROMs.
Multiple mods can be installed at the same time, even if they change the same package. So you can use these battery icons and those quick toggles. Even hooking the same method twice is possible. Of course, this only works properly if the mods are not trying to do incompatible things.
It does its magic at runtime. That means you can implement options to let the user decide if they prefer the bikeshed to be painted in red or blue. Or you can have some extra logic for certain ROMs without building different mod versions.
It can be disabled easily without having to reflash.
It's open source.
Download:
You can download the installer from http://dl.xposed.info/latest.apk. The attached XposedBridgeApi*.jar is only needed for developers.
How to install:
First step for everything you do: Create a nandroid backup and make sure you know how to restore it!
I'm not responsible for anything you do with your phone/tablet/rice cooker.
There is also the risk to soft-brick your device. In such a case, restoring a backup is the easiest way to get rid of it (other possibilities mentioned below).
For the framework:
Download the Xposed Installer APK and install it
Launch the Xposed Installer, go to the "Framework" section and click on "Install/Update"
Reboot
Done!
You can verify this by starting the Xposed Installer again. If app_process jumped back to an older version (or none at all), you probably have a ROM with S-On or similar, which reverts any changes to /system after a reboot.
For any modules you want to install:
Download <module>.apk and install it
Launch the Xposed Installer and go to the "Modules" section (you will also get there if you click on the notification warning you that the module is not enabled yet)
Enable the module by checking the checkbox
Reboot
Done!
(note that you can install the framework and enable/disable multiple modules at once and reboot afterwards)
In case you get into a boot loop:
You can flash the attached Xposed-Disabler-Recovery.zip by Tungstwenty. It will be copied to your (external) SD card when you install Xposed as well. The only thing it does is copying /system/bin/app_process.orig back to /system/bin/app_process, which you can also do yourself (e.g. with adb shell in recovery mode).
You could also create a file /data/data/de.robv.android.xposed.installer/conf/disabled, which causes Xposed to be bypassed as well.

Hey!
After countless hours of coding and searching for proper entry points to inject code to incorporate fixes and mods, here it is:
GravityBox - a complex Xposed module targeted for devices running Android 4.1/4.2/4.3, which turns vanilla ROM into
feature-packed "non-flashing" custom ROM.
Originally, this module was designed for MTK6589 devices which lack custom ROMs built from source due to MediaTek closed-source policy.
Later on, it was adjusted to support other (non-MTK) devices running vanilla or close-to-vanilla AOSP ROMs.
Introduction
The app utilizes amazing Xposed framework coded by recognized
developer rovo89 which, briefly, provides interface for injecting code into any app, including system services allowing modifications of applications and system services at run-time. One of the biggest advantages of GravityBox is that it is not bound to any specific device. Actually, it should run on any device having vanilla Android 4.1/4.2/4.3 (ROM close enough to AOSP).
This project wouldn't be possible without rovo's Xposed framework, so huge kudos to him.

Compatibility
Some words about GB's main concept. One thing I didn't like about xposed modules was that it was always necessary to reboot a device after making a change to some option. Since GB's main concept was to turn MTK devices running stock ROM into something that's close enough to a feature-packed custom ROM, I had to take a decision - for it to be as much comfortable as possible and to really behave like a custom ROM, I had to design it to support most of the preference changes to be done on the fly without needing to reboot a device. While this sounds nice, it also brings couple of "drawbacks". For changes to be made on the fly, it is necessary to make some preparations when device starts. This means, even if you don't use the particular feature, the necessary preparation/modification is already there and is waiting for the user to come and change that option.
This means it is not possible to "completely deactivate" particular feature if it causes trouble on your device or if you installed GB because you want to use only one particular feature you can't find elsewhere.
This results in issues on ROMs/devices that have parts that are diverting from default Android implementation too much, or are running heavily modified custom ROMs.
If you experience weird issues after installing GB, even if you didn't activate a particular feature, it is not because of GB is broken, it is because it is not compatible with your ROM. It is very similar as if you installed ROM built from source for Nexus to some Xperia device - it won't work.
Next thing, GB is a complex module and is not suitable for 1 purpose scenario. This means, if you are running custom ROM built from source (CM, PAC, ...), and you are missing a certain feature, your best option is to go ask creators of those ROMs to implement those additional features. Supplementing missing features on well-known custom ROMs built from source by installing xposed modules (especially complex ones) is definitely not a good way to go and can cause more trouble than good.
And finally, the last. GB being a complex module, it shouldn't be combined with other complex modules often racing for the same goal. They can conflict/fight on the same playground and there's no way you can deterministically say which one's going to win.
They can even lose both.
So in summary:
- this module is designed to run on vanilla or close-to-vanilla Android 4.1, 4.2 and 4.3 (AOSP)
- supports majority of MTK6589, MTK6577, MTK8389 devices
- supports "Google devices" like Nexus, HTC One Google play edition, and others running vanilla Android 4.1/4.2/4.3
- Samsung Touchwiz, HTC Sense, MIUI, LeWa, etc. are NOT supported. It is not guaranteed this module will work on these at all so try at your own risk. This module is simply too complex to support all kind of ROM brands that were vastly modified by vendors.
- DO NOT USE WITH CUSTOM ROMS LIKE CM,AOSPA,ROOTBOX,AOKP,SLIM, ETC... IT MAKES NO SENSE AND CAN CAUSE CONFLICTS AND UNEXPECTED BEHAVIOUR
- I will not implement any exceptions that will adapt this module to a specific custom ROM. Please, do understand, it is unmanageable.
- I will not provide any support for devices violating these compatibility rules
Prerequisites
To use this module, the following conditions must be met
- You have a device running Android 4.1/4.2/4.3 that's based on AOSP (vanilla or close-to-vanilla Android)
- ROM must be rooted (XposedInstaller requires root to be able to install framework into system)
- You have working custom recovery allowing you to make a backup before installing Xposed framework

Installation
If you are using my GravityMod2 ROM, don't follow these instructions to update!

These instructions are only for those not running GravityMod2 ROM!
1) Backup your current ROM in custom recovery. I am serious. Don't skip this step.
2) Get the Xposed installer from Download section from Xposed official thread (the latest version is typically available at this link: http://dl.xposed.info/latest.apk)
3) Install and run Xposed installer and follow the instructions to activate Xposed framework
4) Reboot. If device doesn't boot that means that the Xposed framework is not compatible with ROM you are currently
running. You don't need to continue with the next steps. You will have to restore your ROM from backup.
5) Download, GravityBox.apk attached at the end of this post, rename it to GravityBox.apk and install it
6) Make sure GravityBox app is installed to internal memory. If it was installed to phone storage or external storage,
move it to the internal memory, first
7) Run Xposed installer, go to Modules menu and activate GravityBox by checking the checkbox
8) Reboot
9) Launch GravityBox from app drawer or from Xposed installer and set options as desired
Reporting bugs
If you experience problems with certain feature, provide the full-detailed info that can help me
to reproduce the bug and attach debug.log file you'll find in either:
/data/xposed directory in case of Xposed Installer version prior to 2.3
or
/data/data/de.robv.android.xposed.installer/log in case of XposedInstaller 2.3+
In case you experience SystemUI crashes or other apps Force Closing, or device soft reboots, attach logcat from time
crash occurs. (use adb logcat *:E or your favorite logcat app from Play Store).
Please, don't attach big logs. Only the portion where error is clearly seen.
Disable all other xposed modules before reproducing bug to make sure it is really GravityBox related
Remember, this app was developed and tested on one particular MTK6589 device so it is not guaranteed that
it will work flawlessly on yours.
Multilanguage support
Volunteers are welcome to translate GravityBox to other languages.
Simply download this file: https://github.com/C3C0/GravityBox/r...es/strings.xml
Use Notepad++ to edit strings and then send me edited file so I can include translations into next release.

Info about premium features and PayPal transaction ID verification system
1) Those who supported development via PayPal donation can use their PayPal transaction ID to unlock premium features.
As of v2.9.5, there's one premium feature: Backup/restore of GB settings.
2) If you contributed to the project by providing translations, code fragments, or by any other way
you can apply for a free transaction ID by contacting me via PM.
3) Be aware that there's a system that can identify potential transaction ID
abuse. E.g. when one ID is being used by more users. Such IDs will get blocked automatically.
This can also happen when you previously exposed your ID in public forum and other users took
advantage of it. If this is the case, contact me via PM so I can issue new, special ID.
In case you own more devices, you can use one transaction ID on up to 10 of them.
4) If you are using your own custom builds of GB for personal use, you will get hash mismatch
upon verifying your ID as verification system accepts requests only from official releases of GB.
If you want to be able to verify IDs with your custom build, contact me via PM so I can setup
a special hash for your build.
If you are using a custom build that you provide for broader group of users (e.g. in a custom ROM),
it is necessary to ask for new hash everytime your new custom version is released for public use.
These rules are based on mutual trust so please, do not violate them.
