THEME FAQ
What's the difference between the dark and the dark_minimal theme?
The minimal themes only have one highlight color (dark holo blue).
The main advantage of the minimal themes is their reduced boot time compared to the multicolor versions.
They're ment to be used as base for porting or creating other single color versions.
Can I use this theme on my *devicename*?
Most likely yes. The themes can be used on any device with the screen resolution the filename of the theme suggests.
For example, the "1080_*variant*.zip" can be used on any FullHD device.
When I reboot to recovery, the theme isn't applied. Any ideas?
This is most likeley due to wrong naming of the theme folder or the ui.zip.
Make sure the folder is named "theme", without capital letters.
Also check if you accidentally renamed the downloaded zip to "ui.zip.zip" (common pitfall when renaming the zip in windows explorer).
When I reboot to recovery, I get a "recovery bootloop". Is my phone broken?
Nope, this is most likeley due to a bad download.
Please download the theme again using another browser or app. For instance, ES File Explorer's build-in downloader has proven to be unreliable for the dropbox links I provide.
I like what you did there, but can I has more/other colorz?
Colors are a matter of personal preferrence. I try to keep the themes neutral, and the colors used are (mostly) in accordance with android design guidelines.
For other colors, you'll have to modify the theme yourself. I will gladly provide the source file for the images to everyone interested.
Will you make a dark/black Play theme?
No, because I don't want to maintain more versions of the theme. But everybody is welcome to contribute to the thread...
Will you help me to port my favourite other theme to device XY?
No. But this guide provides insight on how you can do it.
RECOVERY REPACK FAQ
What version of TWRP is the repack?
Always the latest available for a certain device.
As I don't keep track of all TWRP threads, please remind me if there was an update for your device.
I'd like a repack for *devicename*, how do I make one?
Download and unpack Android Image Kitchen.
Unpack the zip.
Download the zip containing the custom curtains (splash images).
Get the recovery image you want to modify from the TWRP download site.
Copy the recovery image to the Image Kitchen folder.
In windows explorer, drag & drop the recovery image on the "unpackimg.bat".
Unpacking will create two new folders (ramdisk and split_image).
Rename the splash of your choice to "curtain.jpg" and drop it into /ramdisk/res/images.
Hit "repackimg.bat".
This will create a "image-new.img", which you can then flash away using your preferred method.
My preferred method for installing the recovery is GooManager, so how do I flash this .img thing?
Via Fastboot. Most useful to know how to (especially in case things go sideways).
Via app. For a variety of devices, Flashify has proven to be a good app for flashing recovery images. It's under (very) active development and I highly recommend to give it a try.
Alternative apps (can be device specific): SGS4 Flasher, ... (please help me to populate this part)
AROMA FM
Download this flashable zip.
Flash the zip in recovery.
It will copy the flashable Aroma FM package to \TWRP\aromafm.
Go to "settings" and tick the option to use Aroma FM.
Profit.

Glad you like it.
Themes are tailored for specific resolutions, the theme engine doesn't do scaling. Actually this theme is the exact same file the S4 users are using.

Sorry mate, no way. My own themes are taking up too much time already to do ports of other themes on request.

OK bare with me. I have a SM-N900T that has the white dialer screen. I'm rooted and installed GooManager. I''ve restarted in recovery and backed up everything. If I install Holofied Black will that change all the screens that are white now (dialer/sms/contacts) to a black background with white font? Will the dialer be a black background/white font and dark blue buttons? When I copy the sark theme to TWRP/theme/ui.zip and 4 Restart to recovery. After I'm in recovery then what do I need to do?
Thanks

Mod Submissions:
Here's the general guide for preparing any mods so Tommy and I can easily add them in (also including a screenshot and making sure all XMLs are compiled):
SystemUI: if you have a themed SystemUI.apk, just zip it up along with other apks to match (like DownloadProvider.apk, ect). If it's a background, I just need the png. Make sure SystemUI.apk and other apks are in the root of the archive
Lockscreens: make a zip archive that has the apks folder structure (com.htc.resources.apk). Example: res/drawable-hdpi - put any pngs in that folder (lockscreen_arc.png, lockscreen_arc_incall.png, lockscreen_arcglass_bottom.9.png, lockscreen_arcglass_top.9.png, lockscreen_prompt_back.png). Make sure your .9 pngs are compiled!
Overscrolls: same basic format as lockscreens. Make a zip that has the folders res/drawable-hdpi and contains overscroll_glow.png and overscroll_edge.png.
Rosies: same as SystemUI, zip up the apk. Make sure Rosie.apk is in the root of the archive.
Batteries: make a zip archive that has the apks folder structure (framework-res.apk). Example: res/drawable-hdpi - put any pngs in that folder. Add the battery XMLs to res/drawable within the archive.
Then just send me a PM with a downloadable link, thanks!
General:
Make sure you wipe everything before flashing! I use CWM and make sure to wipe everything including system individually. The ROM does take a few minutes to flash, that is normal for a sense ROM. First boot is going to take awhile as everything is loading for the first time.
A2SD:
Open terminal emulator
Type su press enter
Then type a2sd reinstall

detailed preview. Default font highlighted in green. Want more fonts?
Just add them in the newSENSE_fonts folder on your sd card and they
will populate in the list. You must find the fonts yourself and they
must be True-Type fonts (.ttf). If the font isn't compatible, the font
changer will probably force close (not all True-Type fonts are compatible
with android). In the case of Font changer force closing, then you must
delete that font from the newSENSE_fonts folder on your SD card (or delete
the whole folder if you don't remember which one).

About the kernel... It is based off of htc's 2.6.35.10 kernel source. The clock tables, voltages and added governors are a combination of the 5 kernel developers I mention below. I also added v(r) i/o scheduler, thanks mdeejay from Team Virtuous.
This has been a long time coming. First I have to thank my wife and kids for being so patient while I stared at a computer screen. Endless thanks to one_love_420 and Dread 7us for all their hard work, knowledge, and patience. Huge thanks goes to Dodgejcr, for taking the time to teach me almost everything I know about kernels, answering my noobish questions , and writing up some awesome tutorials located at his website http://dodgejcr.com. Tommy Tomatoe has been such a great help to all of us, we can't thank you enough. I have some more thanks to give to a few other people, in no particular order toastcfh, scaryghoul, mdeejay, dodgejcr, x99 (kernel sources to compare, and help trouble shooting), aamikam (a2sd trouble shooting), strapped365 (panorama camera), and htc (base kernel source). Last but not least, the whole Shift community, a.k.a. the best community on xda. I hope you enjoy this ROM as much as we did making it. If I forgot to thank anyone, please let me know and I'll add you.

Nice work guys. I've enjoyed running this off and on for the past month or so.. Solid ROM fellas.

Im not sure why but for some reason I can't get it to install. Ive downloaded direct from my phone via wifi. Ive downloaded it through my computer (mirror) and now i just downloaded it via my work computer and I still cant get it to install. Im using clockworkmod recovery version 5.0.2.0. When i try to install it, it acts as though it is going to install. the NEW sense image comes up then the yellow bar starts to fill. Problem is is after about 7 seconds it fills completly and says its done. There is no way sense would install in 7-8 seconds. Ive done complete wipes everytime I've tried to flash. Is it the version of clockwork im using? Any ideas?
Have you tried booting it up? Any time I've flashed it the yellow progress bar is the last part of the install (after sitting there not really doing anything for a minute or so), the progress bar usually fills pretty quick...

Hmmm... I would try reflashing your recovery. I'm using the same recovery and havent had any issues. I have ran into that same issue a month or 2 back, where the flash goes way to quick, reflashing recovery fixed it for me. Have you tried restoring a nandroid yet?

eh, this is ok but not something id leave in a time capsule for the future generations.
just kidding, this **** is bad as hell, nice work guys, if i wasnt addicted to ICS id be on this **** as my daily (although now i have to get back to work and ice cream this up maybe?)

I installed it but it won't boot. Stays on the htc screen. I don't have an ext sd partition so that might be the problem.

Logcat would be extremely helpful to figure out why the problems are happening.

This is awesome! Boot animation was pretty badass. Great work ya'll, I've really loving this right now
i did notice with the app drawer that when i had it set to un-depaginated with 5 icon rows that it only showed half of the drawer until i rechecked paginated.

[MODs] Fresh MODs for Jelly 'Beans' ROM by mentose457

Im going to update all of these for build 18 and remove the links to prior builds. I will, in each case post the process to build them for upcoming builds. If there is a link to the build 18 version of the MOD then it has been tested working.

ABOUT
This thread is dedicated to the MODs and themes ive created for myself and others. They only work with Jelly 'Beans' ROM.
ZIPS
In this thread there are two kinds of zips, VR Themer flashable zips and ZipThemer zips.
VR Themer flashable zips are just that – directly flashable in your recovery of choice. These special zips modify apks but do not overwrite them. This means that most MODs you have applied we remain after the flash.
ZipThemer zips require extra steps to make them flashable. Once you create the zip it essentally acts like the above VR Themer zip in that it modifies apks but does not overwrite them. This means that most MODs you have applied we remain after the flash. Multiple ZipThemer zips can be used to create one flashable zip.
Here are the steps to creating a flashable zip from a Zipthemer zip:
1. Download ZipThemer from the Play Store:*https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...mlwdGhlbWVyIl0.
2. Download the zip(s) you want to flash and the UpdateEdify.zip.
3. Open ZipThemer app, hit the settings button and select Update Edify. Then browse to the UpdateEdify.zip you downloaded in part 2. Then select configure. Then hit the back button.
4. Press [+Theme] button and add the MOD(s) zip files. Ex. B13_Trans_Bar_Sense.zip
5. Click [Build it!] button, the app will ask you whether to make an undo zip, I recommended yes or always.
6. The app will patch your apps and pack into an update .zip.
7. When done, reboot to Recovery, install the *-update.zip from the root of your sdcard. Ex. Beans13Softkeys-update.zip
8. Reboot and enjoy!
9. If you want to go back to the way it was just boot into recovery and flash the undo zip (because you selected that option right?).

Coming Soon
Download: B13 & B14 https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/44601870/Beans 13 MODs/ZT_Template.zip / https://dl.dropbox.com/u/44601870/Beans 13 MODs/B13_SB_Image_VR.zip
Notes: This is a two part MOD. The first requires you to flash B13_SB_Image_VR.zip that enables the use of an image as your status bar. The second requires you to make your own image and create a ZipThemer zip that you can make flashable. Follow the instructions within the 'Show Content'/'Spoiler' button below.
This is a quick tutorial on how to create a ZipThemer zip for your status bar background.
First you need to download the ZT_Template.zip from the above.
Create a folder called Stat_BG_Image and place it in your home folder (or the C drive).
Now unzip ZT_Template.zip into the newly created folder.
Navigate to the folder and view the extracted files. There should be one folder called SystemUI, and one xml called Stat_BG_Image.xml.
Now open SystemUI and the subsequent folders till you are in ~/SystemUI/res/drawable-xhdpi. Inside drawable-xhdpi there should be an image file stat_bar_bg.png. This is the obviously the status bar background image.
Open the image in your favorite image processor and edit to your hearts content. However do not change the size. When you have finished save the image.
Now return to the folder Stat_BG_Image. This part may be slightly different in Windows. The procedure is the same though. Select both SystemUI and the xml, right click and select compress (I think in widows it is zip), name it Stat_BG_Image and make sure the type is .zip, click Create.
At this point you have a ZipThemer zip that is ready to be made flashable.
Move the newly created zip to your sdcard and follow the steps under the section called Zips to make the zip flashable.
Remember you must flash the B13_SB_Image_VR.zip before creating the flashable zip with ZipThemer.

The AOSP signal icons is a ZipThemer zip. Follow the directions in the OP to make a flashable zip from it. If you did, but before you flashed the transparent status bar, you need to do it again.

The charging text is located in an xml somwhere in the layout folder, I just havent found it yet. The google now icon has me scratching my head. There are several icons in the drawables folders that look exactly like the one that needs to be changed but they do nothing. As soon as I fix these two issues ill post it here.
It's tied into whatever Google search you use. Sometimes it's called velvet.apk and some ROMs use a different one. It took me awhile to figure it out on CleanROM. Where exactly was the aosp lock screen clock and weather? I'm presuming it's somewhere in res/layout? Wish they could have just put the images in like the stock lockscreen clock and weather...

Framework-res/res/drawable-xhdpi...files start with keyguard
Settings icons are AWESOME man, thank you! Lockscreen in cyan looks great also!! I have one more mod idea, lol! Cyan clock and date in the notification pulldown header! I forgot to ask ya about that one the other day, lol
I tried modding all those key guard files to no avail. Even the zzz lock screen clock. I'm guessing it might be tied into an XML somewhere... I am running CR 6 with a bunch of mods so it might be different. Thanks though blackness...

Wow! I never would have looked there. I did look in both SystemUI and twframework to no avail.
I havent pined down where the xml change is yet. I got frustrated and started changing any hex code that started with '#ff' in all of the xmls from the multiple lockscreen MOD by Diact74. Turns out that there are only three that match that search criteria: keyguard_acer_tab_unlock.xml, keygurad_bb__unlock.xml, and keyguard_screen_htc_tab_unlock.xml. I also changed keyguard_screen_tab_unlock.xml because it had a similar nomenclature as the others. I have a hunch it is in the last xml. I will narrow it down during my lunch break today.
Thanks again for the google now clue.

So, you've downloaded and been blown away by the most advanced ROM on the HTC One M8 - ViperOne M8!!
Well, the fun doesn't end there! Thanks to Team Venom's powerful theme engine, you can change multiple elements of the theme on the fly - a never-before seen feature on any ROM.
Of course as with anything new, there is much confusion how this works. The aim of this thread is to clarify how to change various aspects of the theme, and unleash the full power of the Viper!
There are 2 aspects to themeing on ViperOne M8:
The built in theme engine (covering statusbar icons, Sense icons, wallpapers, fonts etc)
The full flashable theme, which completely transforms the look of your device
To some degree, the effects of these are independent. So you can change aspects of the built in theme without changing the skin, or change the skin but keep theme elements. Or even keep everything, and just change the Sense icons. The possibilities are endless.
The secret to ViperOne's stunning good looks is a combination of the above, and you can find more information on this over the next 4 posts
Please post any theme questions / issues here rather than on the main ROM thread, let's keep that clean for ROM issues.
Thank you

Venom Download HQ
Most previous downloads can be accessed from our Venom Download HQ, kindly provided by @Whiskey103.....thanks mate!
PLEASE NOTE:
- It is highly recommended you dirty flash the ROM (flash without wipe) between switching themes
- It is highly recommended you change TWRP settings to remove screen timeout, if you want to flash multiple mods at once. Go to Settings > Screen > Uncheck enable screen timeout.
So, you've had a play around with the Venom Hub and seen how many customization options are available. But somehow, it's not quite enough?! Well, that's where the RedVenom theme comes in. This is a full flashable theme that takes the customization to the next level.
As you can see from the screenshots, flashing the theme brings a touch of red to all elements of the UI, including all the system images, phone, keyboard etc.

- Change between multiple different themes on the fly through Settings > Personalise > Themes
- Aroma option for dark headers independent of which theme you're using
- Stock icons throughout

Change between 8 different themes on the fly using settings > personalize > themes
Choose between light or dark dialer and keyboard
Directions to do your own ViperLight custom colour:
(requires ViperLight 3.x.x to be flashed first, preferably without extended colours):
1. Download ViperLight Custom 3.0 zip from here, and unzip on your PC.
2. Download HxD hex editor from here
3. In the unzipped file, navigate to \vrtheme\system\framework\com.htc.resources.apk and open the resources.arsc with HxD
4. Using the replace function (ctrl+r) replace 12 34 56 with your chosen hex. Two values should be replaced. Please note, that you need to reverse your number for hex, so 33 B5 E5 (ICS Blue) would become E5 B5 33 when replacing with HxD. Also ensure that you are searching in hex-values, as pictured below.
5. Save the file in HxD (and you can delete the .bak file in the folder), then zip the files back up.
6. Copy to device and flash in recovery. You custom theme will be theme number two.
Please let me know of any issues.
Colour codes:

Just flash the zip through recovery. To revert back, just reflash the ROM without wiping.
Theming is very much a team effort, so thanks to all of the following people, whose ideas/inspiration/fixes etc have been used in one way or another in these themes. I'm sure I'm forgetting some people, so let me know if I've left you off!
@j to the 4n, @Turge, @ivicask, @hansbert and @m0narx for the amazing Viper ROM
@rayford85 for his original themes, an inspiration to us all!
@fisha21 for knowing the answer to virtually every theming question I have.
@ViNOK16Bit, @Guich, @Krocko and @Kiray1982 the other venom themers.
@Raymond Ebertt for discussions on the finer points of theming
@Pfaffinator, @AhLot and @lesscro for graphics
@Pneuma1985, @Onepagebook, @ineedone, @Punka-res.apk, and all contributors on the Sense 6 theming thread
Thanks also to the Venom Beta Testers, who are always willing to test out any themes before they are released.
So you've read about the revolutionary theme engine in the ROM thread. But what exactly can you do with it? Basically, it allows you to alter some of the graphical elements on the fly, without needing to flash or even reboot.
Using Venom Tweaks, you can change the appearance of:
Statusbar icons
EQS icons
Battery icons
Sense icons
Notification shade background
App drawer background
These elements are all independent and can be changed to suit your tastes. So, you can use icons from different icon sets to mix and match your own personal theme.
But that's not all. Take a closer look at the screens where you choose statusbar themes and icon sets. You'll notice that each supported statusbar icon can be changed independently. So you like wifi icon from theme A, but battery from theme B? No problem, download both and mix it up as much as you want. You're only limited by what's available in the Hub.
And if there's some icons you want that aren't in the Hub? That's what the Venom kitchen is for.....Special thanks to:
jotha - for the battery Icons

As if the ROM wasn't customisable enough, the ROM devs have also developed the Venom theme kitchen.
Really want some statusbar icons that aren't in the Hub,or got a great idea for a set of Sense icons? Why not make it yourself and share it with others via the Venom Hub?!
We've put some themes in the Hub to get you started, but the aim is to fill it with user generated content.
We've tried to make the tutorial as easy as possible, but if you have any questions, here's the place to ask.
Post your completed themes here, with a screenshot. If the theme looks nice we will add it with credits to the venom hub, so all users can download it from there!
One thing we ask though - ideally you'd be using icons you've created yourself. If you are going to use someone's else icons, please ask them for their permission first.
We all spend a lot of our free time making these, and it's really annoying to see your work ripped off by someone else! I'm sure you'd all agree.
If you used icons from the UOT kitchen, then say so.
Happy theming!

How You can Mix & Match Your Own C o f f e e
1. download & install apkeditor from playstore
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gmail.heagoo.apkeditor&hl=en
2. download latest Coffee.apk from OP / post 1, and other additional apk from menu
3. rename additional apk => example: qs_clear_25.apk become overlay.coffee.qs.apk
* add "overlay.coffee." in front
* remove file name from first underscore ( _ ) onward, you just need the first word
4. open apk editor, select Coffee.apk, and choose menu 2 ( Simple Edit (FILE REPLACEMENT))
5. open assets , scroll down to bottom and find overlays you want to change (example: overlay.coffee.qs.apk)
tap the pencil icon beside it, and choose the apk you've downloaded & renamed with same name.
6. click Save ! and your own Coffee is served as new apk
7. open Theme store, delete existing Coffee theme if any, and install new customized Coffee.
8. apply Coffee Theme ~ most of the time you won't need to reboot, but if you find theme layout or color to be incorrect, you'll need to reboot AND re-apply Coffee theme.

It works for exynos too.
You can try substratum theme killer.
It's now on separate app and free.

Thanks. Tried setting the theme then reboot and reapply the theme, but it still does not apply on

Could it be the apps have updated?
Was the theme created for and older vesion of the app?.
Or should the above make no diffrence? Thanks again, your work is amazing.

This theme only theme their notification color, and not the in-app color itself.
There's no color theme for in-app yet.
Oh i see. Sorry i thought it themed the app also. In that case it works briliantly

Android 10 Various Mods, Zip Installer, creates a magisk module

I am no longer going to make aroma installers. The zip method is very similar and should work whether or not you are flashing modules as long as one of the modules does not mod the framework-res.apk or SystemUIGoogle.apk. Download the zip installer. Unzip it into a folder on your internal sdcard. Find that folder once you are in TWRP.
This what it looks like. Inside those folders are the zips you will flash. Hit the back button in TWRP and go to the next one you want to flash. Continue until you are done then flash complete installation. Nothing is flashed to your system until you flash "complete installation".

Zip Installer Instructions
!!! Make sure you have installed the 3Minit Resources APK prior to flashing the 3Minit Battery Mod!!!
1. FLASH ONE Of THE SYSTEMUI BASES BEFORE FLASHING THESE MODS. IT PROVIDES THE NECESSARY SMALI'S AND PUBLIC ID'S
2. FLASH ONE OF THE FRAMEWORKS . Select stock for stock QS Icon color. Otherwise, choose QS Icon color. Default is gray.
3. FLASH ALL THE MODS YOU WANT. ONCE YOU DONE WITH EVERYTHING, FLASH THE "COMPLETE INSTALLATION" ZIP AND REBOOT.
(You only have to flash bases once unless you download a new upgraded zip Installer. After that, only if you want to try a different base. Mods can be flashed any time after the bases. One at a time or several. Want to try a different clock or color? Just go back and flash what you want changed. Everything doesn't have to be redone).

Go give j to the 4n a big thanks for letting me use his SystemUIGoogle.apk in my bases. His Edge Sense Mod and mine can now Co-exist

Thanks for putting this together.
The biggest issue for me with P is the left align clock. I installed your mod, and successfully put the clock back on the right (where it belongs) BUT -- with stock battery percent enabled there is a padding issue. I grabbed a screen I can upload later but the result looks like 95%7:55

Here is my pixel. Maybe I fixed it after I did the pixel 2.

I think I found it. You flashed a base, then a right clock mod. The regular base comes with a right clock as stock. Flash that and don't flash the right clock mod and see if it looks okay. The right clock mod was a little different than the stock one. I'm fixing it and will upload a new one.
Fantastic - will give that a shot. Thanks.

It's perfect.
Is there a way to preview what the D/U meters look like without installing?
(Assume there are screens in some thread somewhere)

Are you talking internet speed mod or the old stock ones on wifi data?
Sorry - looking for a D/U display of any active connection (cellular or wifi). Ideally on the left side of the right icon cluster (as shown in your screen) but both values in white text.
Is that currently an option?

Do you mind telling me specifically which option(s) I should select in the installer? I always launch those with a high degree of confidence, then realize I'm guessing to a degree once its loaded.
Thanks!

Traffic by wifi will put over/under indicators as shown above to the left of wifi icons. Internet speed on the left will put over/under indicators on far left. They will be white unless you pick a color further down in the installer.

So I'm looking for the D/U speed to be on the right (not far right, but left side of right cluster), but when I select that option in the installer, there is no change. Confirmed that selecting left does create it on the left.
Turns out that Traffic By wifi is what I was after. Sorry for the confusion.
@Tulsadiver
Looks like the Bluetooth icon gets over past the D/U -- is this a bug?

I heard people are experiencing bootloops on 16.4 magisks.
5/12 Magisk version default base and 6 columns QS working fantastic with Magisk 16.4 here. Thanks for making the tiles bearable again!
Is there a way to keep the status bar icons showing on lockscreen. It seems they're gone after flashing the default base and C6 QS.
Another thing I've noticed is that the clock moved from the left side of status bar to the right. I'm thinking that's because of the invisible power button.
Is there any way to keep the clock on the left, and keep the expected right status bar icons on the lockscreen.
Thanks
left aligned clock stays visible in AOD, it's a bug?
Anyone tried the 3minit battery mod for dp2?
