About Carbon
CarbonRom is an aftermarket firmware based on the Android Open Source Project. We are dedicated to fast, stable, and feature-filled roms, honesty and communication with our users, and openness with our code. We like frequent builds, with the very latest and greatest hardware support and fixes. We strive to not only provide you with the best rom we can build, but also to give back to the Android community and our fellow developers. For us, this is about creating something we can be proud of and hope you will enjoy.
Please feel free to look at, build, and use our code on CarbonDev GitHub.
We would like to thank CyanogenMod for their device trees, framework/settings mods and their code that was incorporated into this project. We also extend our gratitude to the devs whose code that we have incorporated. Proper authorship has been maintained and can be viewed on our repository.
Special thanks also go to Slim Rom for some of their features, PA, AOKP, and anyone else we may have borrowed commits from that hasn't been mentioned here. If you feel you have been unfairly left out, please - let us know.
While we make every effort to test these builds as much as possible, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, family, pets, or perception of reality. We ask that you do your part to know your device and know how to recover from problems before you flash! If you have questions, ask your fellow users or ask us in #teamcarbon on freenode IRC.

Support
We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our goo.im page linked above. It's new, but expanding fast. Just like us!
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
4) Join our G+ Community: http://community.carbon-rom.com This is where we spend the bulk of our time and the best way to reach us and other community members. We update and frequent this community far more than XDA, simply due to time constraints and the convenience of G+.
5) Ask a question on our IRC channel. Connect to #teamcarbon on irc.freenode.net or click here. You'll find several other Carbon fans and usually one or more devs as well. Please be polite.

what about ringtone bug?

Hallo
i have the problem with the Data connection that works when i just install the whole thing but when i was
where data is not good then is all lost and could not connect again before
i had a wireless network .

I'll have to wait a couple weeks till I get to Anchorage to test mobile data No bluetooth uses unless its six axis (ps3 controller) compatible. Could live w/buzzer for ringtone until a fix is in. Ringing 2/3 of the time is sufficient enough, thus this will be MY daily driver.
Camera/gallery is nice to see, for video recording, my focal app does the trick.
Thx CedArctic

Yes, do do need to unlock the bootloader.
OK so I've been running RC7 for about 4 hours that I downloaded from IRC. Things I've noticed so far:
When using YouTube, I'm getting visual artifacts when changing orientation. It just happens during the orientation swap and then goes away. Also intermittent screen issues when starting you tube that I've seen twice now. Portions of the screen were repeating themselves.
Only one time, I was swiping through settings and when I hit the bottom of the list, there was a weird and quick visual artifact.
I'm not getting any sort of general screen flicker that I've experienced with other Roms, but I went ahead and shut off Hardware Overlay just for the hell of it. Which hasn't changed anything with YouTube artifacting during orientation changed.
During phone call, I could not adjust call volume. Call volume was not loud or low, but just right despite the fact i could not adjust it. Speakerphone worked OK and I was able to lower volume during sleakerphone it seems.
GPS locked on pretty quickly.
4G and WiFi work great.
Camera and Video work. No problems with low Audio on Video record.
I'm really quite happy with it and see no reason not to use this as my Daily Driver.
I don't care about Bluetooth or NFC so can't speak to those.
Battery drain seems to be quite normal.
Hey, I've been using Synergy for the whole time I've had my S3. Can anybody compare RC5 or 7's battery life to that of Synergy's? I'm guessing it will be somewhat lower
yeah! been looking for a new jellybean rom to try out........TW is nice n whatnot, but aosp is just as nice in its own respects......gonna toss this bad boy on later and test it out, seeing as i'm going to work tomorrow ill be able to test out the NFC at mcdonalds and see how its working
Looking for a new JB ROM daily driver. Hopefully this is it! Downloading...

Well this is weird....Google Now isn't installed on my phone....
Does anyone know if this would be built-into the ROM or part of Google Apps?
MD5's match for the ROM and the G-apps.
I havn't slept in over 24 hours....am I just being braindead here?

Thanks for your work. Rom is working without any flaws and almost all the included features are working like a charm. I enabled navbar and i like it, i would like to know if it is possible to implement an option that can switch from virtual nav bar to original hardware & viceversa(i mean it would be nice if only one works at a time). If already such option exists, please let me know.
Re: [ROM][AOSP][LINARO] CarbonRom JB 4.2.1 [n7100] » Feb 6
Nice to finally see the full release. So many new features compared to the test build I had.
So far everything fast and rock stable.
The additional features are welcome and doesn't bloat the ROM, and also work with perfection.

Looks nice, will test when I get home!
Interesting, thanks a lot for sharing your work. :highfive:
in case anyone is wondering, the delay in seeing the boot animation is due to added support for boot audio. we haven't included any in there, but if you want, you can do so by placing any mp3 named boot_audio.mp3 in /system/media.
This ROM doesn't work on other kernels? I flashed both NEAK and RedPill and both didn't work. My screen stayed black during boot up but after reflashing the ROM and not flashing any kernels, it boots up normally

Those are the ones that I've flashed. I've been using AOSP ROMs for a while now and this only happens with this ROM. I guess I'll be sticking with the default kernel for a while.

Amazing ROM. Going to use this as a daily ROM until I need S apps
Any idea what's up with the delay when pressing the lock screen button?
Also, VooDoo seems to be incompatible with our phones according to Play market, could you upload the apk?
This ROM is filthy fast! Love the plethora of options. Beautifully implemented, guys.
The only issues I've found are extremely minor:
- Can't seem to get bold/unbold options to work on the lockscreen Clock widget.
- No weather panel appearing on lockscreen.
Apart from these, everything is working really well. Android Pro Widget scrolling on Nova Launcher is really smooth (for the first time ever!)
Kernel is awesome. Gonna stick with stock, I think.

Is there a delay for you when locking the phone?
Also, I have the weather panel Did you choose the cLock lockscreen widget?
Re: [ROM][AOSP][LINARO] CarbonRom JB 4.2.1 [n7100] » Feb 6
Oh, I'm an idiot. So those options (weather panel, bold/unbold) only apply to the clock widget that you can insert on the left-hand screen to the lockscreen...
That seems a bit strange. So I would have to swipe left from the lockscreen every time I want to view that info?
The only delay I'm getting its the usual CRT animation.
---------- Post added at 03:08 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:02 AM ----------
Ignore my issues. I'm retarded. Sorted it out.
ROM is flawless, from my perspective.
I'm suddenly getting a "Damaged SD Card" error, but I'm gonna try with a card reader and see if I can get my stuff off. Aside from that, this is the first ROM I've ever installed and it's working really well. SO smooth. I'm talking iOS smooth. I see why people go for Nexus' now. And with floating video/Youtube players and Note apps, I am not worried about not having TouchWiz stuff like MultiWindow. Kudos to you and your team.

That's probably because your SD card is formatted as ExFat isn't supported. You should be able to use the card with your pc. Backup the content to your PC and then format the card to fat32. (Panasonic SD formatter is a really nice tool for that)

Thanks to your help we now have the machines we need for nightlies. We couldn't have done it without you! Remember, every penny you send to us goes right back into the rom. Download Carbon:
[ROM][S4 ville][AOSP-AOKP] CarbonRom 1.8 UNOFFICIAL JB 4.2.2 - 2013_08_06
GAPPS
Recommendations:
Don't flash last GAPPS (2013_08_13), are for JB 4.3 based roms.
Don't install/use Fstrim app, seems it can hardbrick your device on this rom, thanks to @[B]Loreane Van Daal[/B] for reporting.
Instructions:
0) Required HBOOT 2.15 to boot with 3.4 kernel releases.
1) Flash boot.img included in rom zip (Required if you're S-ON);
2) Enter into your Recovery, perform a full wipe.
3) Install rom zip and gapps, wipe caches;
4) Reboot;
Known issues: little delay turning on display (hard keys turn on immediately and after an half second it turn on display).
What don't works: none

In the few minutes of testing I have done, yes, both are working.
is seamless branching from 2g to 3g possible with this rom?
is batterry life ok with this kernel?
i´m not sure if its worth to switch from illusion 2.1 back to carbon again.

Well, respect . You made a very, very good rom. Although I'm hardcore fan of DarkJelly , this rom will be, and it is, a daily driver on my second H1S. Keep on track
update:
Only thing is that i can't block adds. Usually, lucky patcher and/or adaway did the magic, but not this time. Any sugestions?

Does Carbon ROM has PIE controls?
(My capacitive keys don't function and I dislike how the other navigation bar takes away so much screen estate...)

Awesome work CedArctic!!
First "Stable" working ROM of Kit Kat to role out :good:
However just one question, other than the SuperUser bypass (flashing the zip after installation) do screenshots work?
It was also a problem in Randomblame's taktiK and Mustaavalkosta's CM11 builds.
Thanks again :good:
