So as many of you already know, Trim was something introduced in Android 4.3 that apparently made many devices quite a bit faster. Pardon my ignorance, but is this what I'm look at here on my tablet or is this something else?

Yeah, you're confusing the two. The "Trim" you're thinking of is also called "Discard", and it's a feature of the EXT4 filesystem for Linux that's used on our tablets to let the SSD know when it can internally reclaim blocks of Flash memory that Linux isn't using any longer, which helps the internal EMMC Flash device we have stay fast.
Fear not, it's turned on in our devices already.

Okay then, this thread turned up to be a flop, but I'm glad I learned something interesting out of it. Thank you.

No problem, glad I could help. But I had no idea that app was there, and it appears to be related to the Video Editor ("com.lifevibes.trimapp").

Good question, and your supposed "evidence" of TRIM was a great LOL , which is great. Don't feel stupid, there's a first time for everyone. But thanks for the LOL

Porting linux drivers

I know its a sore topic but... how possible is it to port the display drivers from android to wince? My programming skills don't extend to driver development so im unsure as to what it would entail. I have seen many examples of linux drivers ported to win32 and they all seem to work fine, for example i use ext2ifs on a daily basis. I have even seen attempts that go the other way (eg. NTFS for linux). It can't be impossible. I seem to remember in a thread someone said that if they knew what registers were used to control the imageon then they could possibly create a driver. Im thinking that all of this information is somewhere in the linux kernel code - obviously its tailored for linux but the addresses and registers should surely be the same? I have been looking myself and there are a few interesting directories such as kernel/drivers/video/msm and arch/arm/mach-msm. Im currently trying to look through the code so i can put all the required .c and header files in one place. When its done, ill zip it and post it here.
Apologies if this has already been discussed but i couldn't find many responses (i did find someone asking the same question).
I also posted on another thread that i have been in touch with a company that holds some technical documentation for various Qualcomm chips. I am currently waiting to see if it is worth pursuing as it will cost me money and i would like to know that its gonna be useful before shelling out any cash.
The thread is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=357885
Ill just fetch the flame suit...

Don't know if it will help but it's Windows Mobile too.

Is this hack of any relevance to us?

Not sure, but i do remember Cyanogen proving Quadrant gives bugged results if you mess with partitions.

Yeah, i remember that as well. Probably a similar case here rather than a real boost.
may not be completely relevant, but I've eventually got a successful run of it on the G1

scores don't really matter. And it doesn't seem any bit faster, but then again I can't really tell since I haven't gotten it stable enough to test normal apps. The UI feels more smoother-ish, not quicker just less jumpy. *note i said "-ish", because there are no apps installed so obviously it's not gonna lag.
so far for me I have only gotten it to work on the first boot, and for some reason only when I don't flash gapps (and fyi, I'm using CM 6.1).

Still, that's amazing.
Here's a link to what I posted in the N1 forums containing the update.zip with some fixes.

This is not my work, its just some fixes on others works.
Have you tried any heavy duty real world applications? Like Angry Birds or Gallery? Kwaak3 would be another application that relies heavily on loading. Maybe a web browser.
Those are the only apps that I can think of that would benefit from faster loading.

[Q] Nexus 5 making "piii" + disk scratching sound......

My nexus 5 is making that sound all of the sudden and I don't know what to do with this.
I was using the camera right before when nexus 5 starts to make "pi" and disk scratching sound
Is this a hardware problem?
So what should I do?
I uploaded a video on YouTube.
Type: Nexus 5 making "piii" + disk scratching sound.......
(The sound is louder than in the video)
(Highlight 0:12~)
I can't help you, but I. Must say that that is the best title I've ever read in a forum.

In all honesty, its very likely that its a hardware problem, and you should probably consider RMA.
You could try flashing the factory images, but I doubt that will change anything as i does seem to be some sort of hardware defect.
This i do not think its a hardware defect as the Camera has OIS correct? Optical Image stabilization
What this means is the camera has Multiple lenses inside and the sound you are hearing is possibly the lens focusing on the target
i had a AT&T HTC one x that does this i thought it was broken but turns out it was just the camera focusing.

Edit; just saw your video

i think you should RMA it

Can anyone help me identify this? [SOLVED: FAKE GALAXY S6]

Hi.
So i got an s6 from eBay.
It's not reacting to my touch. (it is, but with insane delay and barely!)
Couldn't figure this out.
Suddenly or occurred to me that something is fishy since home screen should not be organized like this (this is AFTER full reset!)
(why would twitter be inside a folder named Google?)
Also looks to be non-stock.
Here's a pic.
Can anyone tell me what am I dealing with here?
Does not seem to be running the usual Samsung rom.
Was this device tinkered with?
Also see video here:

Thank you!

Is it a real S6?
Theres a thread in the General section about how to try and spot a fake S6.
that article mentions the fake ones are running droid 4.x, but thats not to say they haven't mucked with the version number on it.

Since you bought off eBay. Did you pay via paypal?
Just lodge a claim against them for selling a fake item.
Make sure and screenshot the ebay listing as well
Yes I will definitely file a claim. Thank you.
Everyone else - BE WARNED!!!
My advice:
Turn off phone.
Press and hold power button + volume down button.

Mediatek K107 MT8752 - Can I change the current ROM ?

Hello all!
First of all, I need to point out that I am a newbie when it comes to Android modifications, but I work in IT, so I have a good general knowledge on how these things work. I say "general", because obviously, working in IT does not make me a professional in this in any way...far from it. I'm just saying so in case you guys can explain to me, or point me a guide I can follow to achieve what I'd like to do Also, English is not my first language, so I apologize in advance if my text is hard to read..
I ordered a cheap chinese tablet from Aliexpress, but I can't post links...so I can't show you. But it's an Octa Core MT8752, 10 inches (really 9.6 though )
For the price I paid, it really does the job, and I am very satisfied. However, I hate the interface. It's not a big deal, but it's annoying. The icons, for one, are ugly. I own a Nexus 7 (2012 model) and it does not look the same, even if they both run on 5.1 Lollipop. I know it sounds stupid, but it bothers me Plus, everytime it boots, I see the big, ugly, Mediatek logo pop-up before the Android one does.
I'm well aware it shouldn't really matter, but I'd like to change that. Is there a way I can flash this tablet with another rom? I was already successful rooting it with KingRoot. I was about to go on and see how to make a backup with MTK Android Tools.
All that rambling to say I'd like to change the look and feel of the tablet and get rid of some junk applications that came already installed on the tablet. Some of these applications were installed by me.

}
The specs are as follows:
Also, it bothers me that it seems like the disk space was split in two partitions. Can I change this?
Now, I searched for a while, and I've come across what I believe may be the factory file for flashing, but I am really unsure...I wonder if these files will come with the same icons built in.
Does anyone have any experience with said tablet? I would just like to know what I can do to flash it with another rom, without screwing anything up. I'm really new at this, and I'm not even sure which guide I should follow.
Thank you for your time
