I got 24k Rs. I could buy nexus 4 from India with warrenty or buy nexus 5 when it launch it in US
And ship it to me through shipito.com. It would also cost bearly same amount
But there is risk of lossing the package or something could go wrong and no warrenty
Any suggestions

You probably realized by now, that it's hard to answer your question with anything based on facts. You will need to ask yourself the following:
Do I need the phone right now?
If yes, then you need to get a phone that is available right now.
If no, then you can wait for a few weeks until the phone is offcially launched and all the facts are on the table.
If you feel that shipping from the US is too risky for you and you can't afford to lose your money under any circumstances, then don't do it.
Careful nature that I am, I might order an electronic device around 20$ from the US if I wanted it badly enough, but I wouldn't risk over 300$. Especially thinking of warranty and customs.
Anyway, you will need to decide for yourself
For now, go for nexus 4 tbh. You will get official warranty in India. And trust me, if you think warranty is something that isn't a big issue, I say think 10 times before going for nexus 5. Warranty is something which can spoil your fun with nexus 5. Think if something goes wrong ( after all it's a smartphone, any part can mess up ) , and you have no one here in india which will fix the issue for you. Even official service center won't help you. You will have to send the phone in US again
But if you really don't give a damn, go for nexus 5. But there is no issue going for nexus 4 over nexus 5, as nexus 4 is already having the buttery experience which no phone on market gives you. Thanks to project butter

The s4 is currently on sale at att online only for 29.99. The lady on the phone gave me an early upgrade+free overnight for it. http://www.att.com/shop/wireless/devices/samsung/galaxy-s-4-16gb-black-mist-refurb.html
If you cancel early, might be a good way to get a S4 somewhat cheap. Nothing will beat the 50% glitch that happened last month though.

I just ordered one as well. I was really trying to see what kind of deposit I thought I'd have to pay. They've always asked me for one. I was surprised & they approved me this time. I even got an iPhone 4 w/ 8 Gig for .99 cents.
I went and got it because of this deal. I really didn't want to upgrade yet, but my Nexus S is really starting to show its age (bless its heart). Custom ROMs can only take you so far with a device that old. I really don't want an S4 (hardware buttons including the ugly physical home button, front Samsung branding, little dev community support compared to my Nexus S), but the deal was too good to pass up. I guess I could sell this for $400-450 (maybe more?) by the time the next Nexus phone is out. Anyway, I can't wait for it to arrive so I can experience some of that 1080p Gotdamoled goodness. I may even keep it if the bootloader situation and community support gets better.

I see, you seem to think I was talking about the community. I wasn't. I was badmouthing Samsung. In regards to the community, I was simply stating the current situation of things. The community support for this phone, in which there's not much going on, is a result of Samsung's and the carriers' doing.
I'm not sure how what I said could be misinterpreted to mean I'm bad-mouthing any entity other than Samsung. Calm down, read, and stop looking for something negative.

Good point. from what I understand, the only reason why Google stop supporting the Nexus S, is because it did not have enough RAM. Google is pretty good on their software updates on their older flagships. I think this is a good buy..
if worse comes to worst, I can always sell the phone for a pretty good price. I notice these Nexus phone hold their value very well.
u bought it already and not bad choice if ur gf is into gaming and stuff or into phones n5 would be better even im thinking to keep n4 but u know... I JUST CAN'T DO IT!!! it isn't out yet anyway dont worry: n4 is great phone

If the Nexus 5 wasn't just about to be released and I wasn't an upgrade-aholic, the Nexus 4 would be my go-to phone. It's that good.
You probably should have asked this in the Nexus 4 forum.
It's a Nexus, Google will support it for more than another year. They only stopped supporting the two earliest Nexus since it lacks the hardware to run the new OS and ability to receive such large over the air updates (low ram and too small /system partition to hold the system files). The Nexus 4 is a powerful device I wouldn't be surprised if it'll get updates for atleast 2 more years. If it wasn't for needing the best spec or playing high graphical games, the Nexus 4 will probably work fine for another 3 years. It still get Android version earlier than any other non-Nexus devices, although the battery life and camera quality might not be up to standard anymore. Gaming is only a problem because of the thermal throttling which kicks in at 39*C, but if you flash custom kernel you can raise it to 60*C or higher.
The Nexus 4 does have Band 4 LTE that works with T-Mobile if you flash the LTE compatible baseband.
The Galaxy Nexus is still being supported by Google as of now, so I think the Nexus 4 will be good for quite a while.

I'm getting the N5. My GF has a crappy HTC One VX and I got her a Nexus 4 16GB for 240 out the door. She is paying me the difference after I sell her VX.
I know there is no LTE on the N4 but She doesn't use much mobile data... She only has 300 mb on her plan.
I'm going to be flashing CarbonRom and Franco kernel on it and let her tinker with it. Shes starting to get into this android thing lolol. She rooted her locked bootloader Samsung tablet herself lol.
After taxes and shipping the N5 would come out to about 400 bucks. That's 160 more than the N4...
Now the main question is, how does the N4 compare to new phones out now? Does it still hold it's own? Was this a good buy for her? I mean we are trying to keep costs down for her.
Mind you, I have never even held a N4. Its still in the mail

Where did I say I'm "making" her pay me back?
You must be mistaken. She wants the Nexus 4 and doesn't want to go through the hassle of selling her current phone: so ill sell it for her. She is buying her own phone with her own cash. Her VX is irritating her. I'm just doing all the buying and selling and moneywork.
Well I have some news: she decided to get the Nexus 5 as well. I sold the Nexus 4 on craigslist and made profit.

I agree with lqrt here for the cost the nexus is fine. That is a pretty general question that is hard to answer, because it is depends on what you value. The simple answer is that the N5 is basically one-year newer in terms of the hardware inside, has a little bigger screen, and supports 4g LTE. There are a lot of other minor differences, so I suggest googling Nexus 5 vs Nexus 4, because there are a few articles already out there that discuss the differences. More impressions will probably follow as more people get their hands on the Nexus 5.
Either device can do all the cool smartphone stuff you could want them to do right now, but the Nexus 5 will be a little more future-proof since the hardware in it is a year newer and it will get system updates longer. Whether that and the other differences are worth the $100 difference is up to you.
Of course get the newer phone ... what a silly question

If you like/need latest and greatest, or any of the features unique to the N5 are must-haves, then go for it. If not, the N4 is still a fantastic device and will be for a few years yet, and may save you some money. A good condition N4 can be had for about half the price of a new N5.
I find the screen to be the perfect size for me. I did have a note 2 which was too big. I really like the size of this phone.

@killomp if your going to get the HTC ONE, Just wait for the second Gen. The NX5 is better then OG ONE in almsot every way behinds viewing angle and possible light bleed and not being made of aluminum (the one is also an uncomfortable tall device to hold IMHO)

SO, to put it in perspective, you've pretty much got better everything. I like the Nexus 4. It's got a great feel to it but the glass back kind of puts me off (even though it was fixed in later models). It's got last year's best tech whereas the nexus 5 has this year's best tech or pretty much about as good as you'd need it really...
For me, when you take hardware out, I think the Nexus 5 has a much better feel. It's slightly curved back is really enjoyable and comfortable as opposed to the Nexus 4's flat back. I prefer the matte finish instead of the Glass back. It's also a lot more low profile. I personally prefer the Nexus 5 a lot more. Better hardware and a more comfortable feel for me.
Basically it really comes down to your budget. They're both entirely usable phones with great hardware that is more than sufficient for running pretty much anything. If you feel you could blow that extra $100 then by all means, go for the Nexus 5. But you can't go wrong with the Nexus 4 either

I just saw your last post
The HTC One is beautiful. Just got about the most premium feel to any phone i've seen. But I'm pretty sure the HTC One will cost a lot more dollars than the Nexus 5 or Nexus 4. In Canada at least, it's like $300-$400 CAD difference
If you can afford it, get the LG G2 instead. It's similar to N5 but with much better battery life

Who cares? Id still be using my Nexus 4 if it had LTE Phones have reached a point where they don't need to be better. It's just a P. ssing contest. The 5 is ideal with a good kernel. Some are never happy. Reading technology sites is to blame. They hype something up for 6months then forget and want the next as their sad jobs need news. Oh and it helps make pple insecure for the oems

So true! All research and development needs to halt at this very moment! Technology does not need to improve, what we have now is good enough!
Said no one ever.

True. Although for me I just want something new and shiny because I get bored. Arguably I didn't need to upgrade from my S3 but I wanted to. That said, it's not like I am looking for my next handset yet. Loads of life in my 5 left over.
I always get a little jealous when a couple of newer phones than mine have come out/are coming out. I have no desire whatsoever for a Galaxy S4 or HTC One M8, but the Sony Z2 is shaping up to make me a bit envious. Ultimately though I know my N5 is going to give me a far easier ride when it comes to modding it, stuff just works properly on it.

That there. That is why I buy nexus devices. You don't have to jump though hoops to modify it. I had an HTC one before this and you had to go through HTC dev and then gain s off and everything else. Heaven forbid if you need to go back to stock for repair purposes. Pain in the ass.

This is very very early to post a thread like this, the new one will take at least 8-9 months to be released. Any news now or within 6-7 months is just rumor and speculation

True, however it would be nice to see what the devs would like to see on their upcoming phone....and from the latest news, it looks like the Nexus 6 is going to be announced at the end of july. Not to mention, more than likely, with iPhone 6 and the Samsung Galaxy s5 about to hit in mid-end of April, Google will want to release something to compete with the hype. Every article I read stated it would at least have a 2k video display and would follow the lines of the nexus 5 with the upcoming LG G3...so another clone from what I understand, and if that's the case, it looks pretty promising.

Hi everyone !
I actually own a Nexus 5, which I'm using since he's out. The thing is that I'd like to change, I really enjoy this phone, but the main problems for me are photos and battery. And of course the ''need'' to own newer devices.
I looked for some devices and I found some I'm attracted by, these are Samsungs : Note 4 or S5/S6, I don't know.
For now this is the Note 4 that I'd like. So I'm asking you to know if some of you own one of this devices and tell me how you feel with it after a Nexus 5 ?
Also are they as easy as a Nexus 5 to tweak ? (flash rom/kernels/unlock bootloader and root)
I know that they take longer to get the last updates, but I trust in XDA devs who can port everything in a day haha. They're like magicians for me.
And by the way don't be shy to discuss about other phones and advice me, I may discover new phones.
Thanks and have all a nice day [emoji1]
I went from the Nexus 5 to the One plus one and then to the Nexus 6 and now I bought a nexus 5 again. I love my nexus 6 ,and that is and will be my daily driver but for the days when I just want something smaller, the Nexus 5 will be there. I wish I never got rid of it and I found a deal on refurb one with a one full year of service from freedom pop for $200. So I thought why not.

What I'm trying to say is that you shouldn't feel a hurry to switch phones and the Nexus 6 is the bomb.
I'd go for a Sony. Probably a Z3 Compact. Is what I'm planning to buy anyway. Very lightweight skin with good battery life, looks and camera ?
I think I'm going for the xperia z4 when it's out next

The Nexus 5 2015. As long as they keep the price close to what the original N5 was.

If it does happen, I'd like for a new N5 to be about twice as thick and have all the extra thickness devoted to battery.

So the rumors go. We'll know more in September if Google follows their normal release pattern. They'll have to file with the FCC by then if they plan on releasing in October/November. Right now it's believed Huawei will be the manufacturer but it's still way to early to now for sure.
