[Q] WotanServer's WotanClient not working - General Questions and Answers

Just purchased credits to unlock my bootloader through WotanServer. I got directed to the tutorial page where I download the client and a driver, but upon running the client it stops working immediately. Just "WotanClient has stopped working" and forces me to close down. I've tried running it in different compatibility modes but to no avail. It creates a folder called 'data' and two empty subfolders 'flashes' and 'scripts' and a text log.
I know WotanServer seems legitimate, but I can't help but feel a bit cheated. I'm guessing there's something wrong with the current version and I was wondering if anyone had a link for an older version maybe? As that could possibly work. I've tried googling this but again, to no avail. I've emailed them but I thought I might get a quicker response here.
The text log contains the following:
WotanClient 3.12.0 - wotanserver link omitted [3012000]
Microsoft (build 9200), 64-bit ENG (ENG)
[APPSTART] checking version for WotanClient.exe...

And that's it! Thanks in advance if anyone can help me out. Sorry for any misuse of terms, it's my first time trying to install custom ROMs on my phone and this is the only get around for my carrier locked/fastboot locked Xperia Play.

Hello.
Did you ever find an answer to this? I'm having the same issue.
Thanks.

Well I found it and ran it (w/o buying it) and here's what I found...
1) You can download data3.zip from http://storage.wotanserver.com/version/data3.zip and put in the data folder
:::::::: Problem :: it crashed instantly...
2) GUESS < Add http://storage.wotanserver.com as 127.0.0.1 in C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\host
:::::::: Since this is a guess, it's possible it might work... However I recomend downloading the file then blocking the site.
:::::::::::: Since the site will be blocked; the program might think it's doing it while it's not; meaning; it should skip that part.

No new OS after flashing.

Hi, I apologize for probably asking something that's been asked before (note: I've tried to find the answer but no luck) but I'm a little confused.
I've flashed a downloaded ROM a few times but the original OS keeps coming up.
I've got a IMate KJam and would like to flash WM6 on it. I'll detail what's I've done.
1. I've run lokiwiz and seleced 'C' to do the CID unlock, seems to have worked (some locked and unlocked files got generated).
2. I've downloaded nbd.v7.4 and unpacked it.
3. I've run the standard ROMUpdateUtility Wizard that same in the zip file but it gave me "ERROR [300] : INVALID UPDATE TOOL"
4. I downloaded ROMUpdateUtility_Wizard_NoID.zip and ran the exe that was in the zip file, the good news is that the KJam resets to 'rainbow' mode and seems to update the flash - bar goes from 0-100% then resets.
Once reset the OS is the original WM5 that came with the KJam.
What did I miss? Again I'm sorry is this is answered elsewhere, I've just not been able to find a solution myself.
Thanks.

You're not unlocked. You actually skipped the first and very important step of flashing back to an older ROM to get your IPL/SPL to an earlier version.
Follow these instructions VERY carefully and don't skip over any parts at all. Read through it once or twice before starting any of the steps.
(these instructions are for G3 devices, for G4, go here)
Good luck!
Thanks for the help guys.I'm managed to come right with the ShellTools app.
The only problem I've had with WM6 is that when I click on the contacts soft button (or click it from the menu) it starts loading then disappears. I can't access it at all. Everything else seems fine though. Any ideas?
I remember that fault occurring with some of the roms though I dont specifically remember which rom, possibly some of the 318 builds. From memory I fixed this by doing another hard reset.
Thanks for al the assistance. I've flashed the XDA Mobile 6 Release 2a and am very happy.
WM6 has much much better wireless lan support. With the stock standard wm5 my kjam wouldn't connect to my WAP2 configured network, now it work! Great job on packing the Roms guys.
On the matter of the the contact not appearing / working. The following would happen: Once WM6 was flashed, and a hard reset done the usual process of initialization took place, which included screen alignment, time and time zone configuration, setting of a password and then the part that seemed to be causing the problems, the setting up for a email account/messageing. I on numerous occations skipped the setting up for email as I won't do email on the device. Once 'botted' the device would work fine with the new ROM the only problem would be that when I pressed the 'contacts' soft key or selected it from the menu the contact 'application' would seen to start up but die or6 not appear. This means that the title/top bar would display the title of the contact application but would in a fraction of a second die / abort / crash.
I assume that the email / messaging part of the hardboot startup sets up something that is required for the contacts application. Just for reference I just setup the email/messaging details (name, email address, pop server, username & password). After setup I didn't check email once, I then just deleted the email account setup and the contacts app is still working.
For newbees, I recommend the ShellTool applications, it allowed a new Wizard owner and newbee rom flasher to get a new rom flashed very easlily. My Wizard was a G4 with the 'recent' IPL/ISL bits so I can't speak for G3 users.
Nice one guys, great forum. I'm verry happy with my WM6 kjam.

Open ZDK Zune HD native executable working on HTC 7 Pro

While browsing for apps I came through a site called www.zuneboards.com and it had a program called Liberate for Zune HD. I downloaded the v1.6.2 zip and extracted it and copied to my HTC 7 Pro and tried to run the native executables. Most of them did not work but there was one named reboot.exe and when I tried to open it from the FileBrowser it actually asked if I wanted to reboot my phone and when I tapped on yes it did reboot.
There was another executable cabinstall.exe and when it was executed gave a message to double tap on the cab file which might mean that it we can open a cab file but need to set the correct registry path for the cabinstall.exe to be called when opening a cab file which I am not able to do.
Any help will be appreciated.
I am not sure what it means but is it now possible to make native executables run on windows phone 7? I am able to open Opera Mobile by ultrashot by directly running the executable instead of the opera launcher as well.
I have added the zip file which has the executables.
Are you on a custom ROM or a stock ROM? Native executables have been possible on custom ROMs for a long time, but if this works on a stock ROM... time to investigate.
EDIT: Your link is going to a 404 error page, not a ZIP file. Re-upload maybe?

I have updated the attachment. Should work now.
I am on a custom rom so I am not sure if it will work on a stock rom or not.
It uses executables built for WinCE 6.0. This is also a valid way to build native code on WP7 (WP7 uses a CE kernel version somewhere between 6.0 and 7.0) so it's no surprise that at least some of the apps will work.
Is there source code available for this hack? It would be interesting to see what they did. It's probably ZHD-specific (for the general unlock) but it *might* be useful for WP7 hacking too...

@GoodDayToDie I am not sure why the attachments are giving the 404 error.
Here is the link to mediafire http://www.mediafire.com/?4g82q2eoww16kgr
@GoodDaytoDie
Did you find anything interesting or useful in the source?
Not yet, but it was a busy weekend. I'm looking through a number of things at the same time and haven't dug into that one yet.
However, it's worth noting that the Zune HD uses a very different security model from WP7. I didn't do any ZHD dev or hacking, so I'm not entirely familiar with how its app model works.
Thanks for the source though! I'll dig into it further and let you know if I find anything. I may have to create an account on that other forum too; it looks like they're doing some WP7 hacking as well.
I tried sources in VS 2008. New project must be created from old source codes and main entry point must be added to properties/link/commandline option, or changed to wmain. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33649737#post33649737 , download zip.

[Q] Adding languages to unbranded HTC radar

Hi there,
This my first post, so I'll try to be short and to the point.
I just bought an sim-free HTC Radar (7720) from Expansys Japan, hoping to make a present to my Spanish mother. To my surprise, although my Japanese IS12T WP7 had several languages including Spanish, the HongKong market Radar Expansys sold me only has English and Chinese.
Since then I've been desperately trying to get a way to add Spanish display language. Found this thread on xda and thought I was saved.
Being a noob I did read every single post in the 85 pages before trying anything, unfortunately I still can't get Spanish display menu...
Here is what I did:
1) Checked I had latest Zune software (I'm running W8 CP 64bit)
2) Updated the radar up to 8107 through Zune (first 7740, then 8107).
3) Downloaded and installed WP7_update_tool
4) Downloaded and extracted WP7_Update_Cab_Sender
5) Downloaded all the Spanish language update cab files (1 for Nodo, 2 for Mango), and added them to the WP7_Update_Cab_Sender folder
6) Run the bat file, then choose "B" for backup+update
7) After a while, and a few restarts both the Update utility and the phone showed the message "Update successful".
I then went to change my display settings and found out that I still only had English and Chinese available...
Is there something I missed? Do you have any suggestions?
Right now the only thing I can think about is that maybe I shouldn't have used Zune to update. Should I try to roll back to 7740 with Zune, then update to 8107 using the Cab_Sender instead?
Thanks in advance.
Well, I got impatient so just tried to restore to the previous version using Zune...
Tried already 3 times, no particular error messages and everything seems to go fine. Yet at the end I always end up where I was, at 8107...
Am I stucked in here or is there something else I can try?
Any way of getting my phone back to 7720, or any idea of whether that would help me solve my problem ?
Having Spanish support is much more important than getting future updates... so that's not an issue...
CAB-sender takes a backup (technically "restore point") using the same mechanism that Zune does. If you didn't back up your older restore points, they were overwritten.
I'd suggest just flashing a European stock ROM. Here's a nice list of the ROMs for Radar phones: http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/HTC_Radar/Shipped_Roms. Make sure the device version matches (i.e. the TMoUS one probably won't work, though I don't know what hardware a Radar purchased by way of Japan will use).

Thank you so much for your reply; now:
- I understood what I did wrong (over-write my previous backups when I run CAB-sender...
- Have some hope to get it done.
My hardware is: HTC Radar C110e, but unfortunately I found no file matching my current Firmware/Bootloader:
- Firmware: 1600.2200.20301.708
- RadioSofware: 16.23.03.17_16.27.00.23
- Bootloader: 2.3.160015.3(134621)
So additional questions:
- If I get one of these European ROM's, will I get also the language packs delivered by default in the European region (which include the one I want, Spanish)?
- Will my phone be updatable through the regular Zune channel afterwards?
- Should I rather get the newest, oldest, or it doesn't matter? (assuming I'll get the updates normally)
Your questions, in order:
1. Yes. These are the ROMs which are distributed on retail phones, and should include the standard language set for Windows Phones (which I'm pretty certain includes Spanish for the European phones, although I've never checked).
2. Yes. Flashing a stock ROM will make the phone behave exactly as though you'd bought it with that ROM, and it should work with Zune like any other Windows phone (including being updatable).
3. I suggest going with the newest ROM on that list, because it has the same major version number for its bootloader (2) and same revision version number for its radio (03). This reduces the risk of it not flashing correctly for some reason. That ROM is also 7740, so it will need fewer updates after flashing.
Do keep your restore point handy, in case the flash fails for whatever reason, but it shouldn't be needed. You can try recovering older restore points using the "Previous Versions" feature of Windows (requires Volume Shadow Copy service to not be disabled, and System Restore to be enabled for you user-profile disk and set to backup user files as well as system files).
Flashing a European ROM really seems like the best bet, though. You'll need to start the phone into SPL (bootloader) mode, which I believe requires turning off the phone, pressing and holding the Volume Down button, and turning it on again. You should see a screen with bands of color and info about your SPL in yellow text. At the bottom will be black text saying "Serial". Plug the phone into the computer. It will install some drivers (automatically, on Vista or later; on XP you may need to do this manually) and then the text at the bottom of the phone's screen should change to "USB". At that point, you can run the ROM Update Utility (RUU) that should have come packaged with the ROM image.
Thanks again for your precious help. It seems that's exactly what I need.
Now, sorry for asking again, but after a few hours I still couldn't find a suitable RUU... The links you gave me previously pointed to the ROM images only, any idea of where can I find "the RUU packed with those images"? Or "how to pack them myself"?
I did find a few threads in xda with a link to a RUU (here) , but it's only for the oldest version. Then they provide additional ROM images (.nbh), but it's not clear to me how can I pack those into a RUU.
Finally, I did find this other thread where someone was kind of explaining how to do it, but it seems the OP didn't even get it to work to begin with, so it doesn't feel reassuring...
Any further guidance would be appreciated.
I'm afraid you've reached the limits of my knowledge of such things. The only time I've manually flashed anything, the download came as a packaged RUU "installer" (basically just a self-unpacking archive, so far as I can tell) and included simple instructions for using it. If you tell me what file(s) your download contained, I could try to tell you how to lay them out like my phone has it, but I'm hesitant because I really don't know the intricacies of RUU.
I'm guessing you already checked the Radar forums? Alternatively, if you look at the threads for the other ROM downloads, at least some of them start with RUU and end with .EXE (which is how my download came) instead of starting with IMG and ending with .NBH (my download included some NBH files, though). Maybe grab one of the RUU bundles, run it, watch what files it extracts, and then replace the NBH file with the one you already downloaded? I can't promise this will work, but it's worth a shot.

Well, thank you in any case for your kindness and having taken me here.
I think I'm ready to try … Just made up my mind to go in the following order:
1) Give a shot to the original RUU file (even though it has an old build of my phone); then hope that Zune updates come as you said they would (my phone unbranded phone came out of the box with Mango 7720 and it took only a few minutes to get the latest version).
2) If updates don't come, try to modify the RUU file with the newer ROM to see if I have better chance...
I'll be back to report what happened.
Well, I tried both the old and the newer ROMs, and:
- on the good side: my phone didn't get killed in the process
- on the bad side: I get an error message saying "ERROR [294] : INVALID VENDER ID" no matter what...
The ReadMe file says:
One of these error messages will appear when you use the wrong RUU to do the upgrade. RUU will check if the Model ID and Language ID are compatible with the device. Make sure you use the appropriate RUU tool to upgrade.
So I guess I'm slowly reaching a dead end... Someone has any further suggestions???
any updates here ?

[Q] WhisperPush removal

Hi guys,
At one point I was running Cyanogenmod, and had enabled WhisperPush without knowing how to use it. That installation is long gone, and I now have another phone, not running CM. I'd like to use TextSecure now - but when registering, it tells me that I need to unregister. Full message:
"Registration conflict"
"This numer is already registered on a different TextSecure server (CyanogenMod?). You must unregister there before registering here."
How on earth do I do that? As stated - I do not have access to the CM installation with the required XML file (with which I could do some magic via ADB).
Some people on the internetz refer to a Ruby script on https://github.com/daveio/whisperpush-unregister - but this yields nothing but Ruby errors (looks like code errors).
Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

MOD: Please delete my post. I didnt RTFM. (wrong Ruby version)

What's causing when I edit posts that URLs and some other data is lost

I've been banging my head about this one for a couple of years across several Windows installations including 7, 8, 8.1 and 10 at home on two PCs and Windows XP (I think) and 7 at work, on multiple laptops, and taking place in both Chrome and Internet Explorer 9, 10 and 11. I have Edge uninstalled in Windows 10 so I can't test that at the moment. I forget what result I had with Firefox, but I'll probably reinstall it to find out.
It's most annoying when editing an OP but whether with an OP or regular post, I've occasionally worked around the problem by keeping a "master" copy of the post in Notepad++ on Windows, editing that, then copying and pasting that to my post edit. This only works when I either already have a current master copy in Notepad++, or can manage to retrieve an uncorrupted copy which is sometimes difficult when the problem happens in all my currently installed programs.
The problem also occurs when editing a DevDB project in both Chrome and Internet Explorer.
The problem happens most frequently in Chrome so my most common solution was to temporarily switch to Internet Explorer, but right now even IE is giving the same result.
I'm very good at searching and I've tried searching both Google and XDA with different sets of search terms and I don't find anything even remotely similar.
For example, the following correct text:
Code:

FYI now really weird, even this post didn't come out right on the initial posting. The information attempts to be there when I edit it (additional CODE boxes, there are clearly four total CODE boxes with both beginning and ending CODE tags when I posted and when I edit the post), but as usual, URLs and other information is missing from my examples. I'll probably be forced to give screenshots when I have time later.
