Hi
huys i have galaxy s4 i9500 (octa core edition)-frankly am not happy with my mobile i was a forever galaxy user, quite frankly am tired of the bloatware now,all i got was 8.7 gb of free space and by the time i installed my apps that shrunk to 1.5 gb although there is a memory card slot, and lathough it boasts octa core processor but still i find lags in camera and response time, believe me am not even running lot of apps
so in a word am tired with samsung galaxy s4
thinking of getting Xperia Z1

Hey guys, even though this is a developer forum I can't find a place with more informed people to ask this question
Which one should I buy, given that they will both cost the same to me?
Thank you
I'm not trying to be rude but they're both some pretty lame ass phones afaik. How much do you wanna spend? Maybe you can find some better deals...

I don't want to spend much and there ain't better deals for the price range I am looking at.
Anyway those are the only choices I have, so please just compare them to each other.
Thank you

Galaxy Ace, compared to x10 its thinner and has bigger screen camera quality is same on both [video quality is better on Eric].
But overall I would recommend you to go for Ace as you can customize if according to your need.
x10 mini has problems rooting and flashing and all, whereas Ace doesn't, hence you can improvise on any aspect you wish with Ace when you get bored of stock Ui or firmware :]
And also you can completely change your Ace into Xperia if you want here is the link [ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1324628 ]

Thanks for answering, but you left me even more confused than I was about the Xperia.
Were you talking about the Xperia X10 mini pro or the Xperia mini pro?

I was not talking about the X10 one, which is why I am asking.
Thank you

Ok nvm then
I'd say go for the Ace, it has a faster processor and some actual support here on xda: with a slight oc and a custom rom it should be quite smooth. It also has a newer version of Android out of the box and as Samsung tweeted a while ago it might even receive the ICS update at some point in the second half of 2012.

Again, the must be some confusion about the Xperia one. The Xperia I am talking about has faster processor, faster GPU and more RAM compared to the Ace. But less battery and smaller screen. Since this will be my first smartphone I though I would ask since I have no idea how important the screen size is (3.5 vs 3.0 in this case).
Also, support in this site is also important, since I would rather have a slightly worst phone if it had more developers working on it and more support for custom roms etc.

I think you are still thinking that he/she is talking about the x10 mini(pro).
because the SE Xperia mini (pro) has gingerbread and will get ics. It also has 1 ghz processor(oc-able), which is better than the ace's, i think.
Btw the x10 mini's do have great support at this forum.

Yes I am not talking about the X10, and it does have better specs than ace, (1GHz CPU vs 800MHz, 512MB RAM vs 278, 320MB Internal Mem vs 158MB, Adreno 205 GPU vs Adreno 200 GPU). But specs are not everything so please keep the comments coming, specially if you have one of them, or experience with both Sony Ericsson and Samsung.

I never really used the Galaxy Ace, but I used Xperia Mini Pro a little (at a store here in my city), everthing was stock, but that think is nice looking, keyboard is perfect, it's fast and things other guys said, better hardware, will receive ICS, etc.
I would go with Mini Pro, but I am a SE fanboy, so...

Xperia U

Samsung Ace 2 is better than Sony Xperia U
why are you telling him to buy Sony Xperia U when clearly Samsung Ace 2 is better?
Samsung Ace 2 has more ram and a microSD slot, Sony Xperia U doesn`t have a microSD and only 512 MB RAM
they both use the same NovaThor U8500 but Samsung underclocked it to 800MHz so it uses less battery

Yes, it does not have a SD Slot. But if gonna buy a smartphone like this, you won't use much more space (4 GB for user, not total.)
And Sony wins with the specs and features of U.

I love the design of Xperia U.. it looks exactly like Xperia S.. I gotta pick it even though i'm a bit Sammy Boy! XD
vota
Xperia U with live sound
The U is so amazing for a low end device, very good design and solid quality. The Ace 2 looks like an uninspiring piece of crap if you put it side by side with the Sony. It may have slightly better specs but man, at this price it's no night and day difference at all. I'd go for the U. The Lumia 610 will have a very hard time in this price range with that bad boy around.

It's Not Low End
The Galaxy Mini/Apollo/Gio Is Low End
And For Me... Specs Are King Of The Hill
It depends
Well, both devices have their pros and disadvantages, the xperia U has a faster processor and a really good screen due to the bravia engine. What it's bad about it is the 4gb memory without sd card slot, so you need to think about it if you listen to a lot of music and take a lot of pictures. I'm not a big fan of samsung because the materials feel really cheap.
In my opinion, the xperia U is waaay much better, you can consider the Xperia P too
Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 is much better. The Xperia U is 100% plastic too so don't listen to these trolls.
In terms of specs Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 wins no contest. The Xperia U has an extremely laggy UI and browser which is very disappointing

Are you serious? Timescape is way lighter than TouchWiz. It is plastic? And? I bet it feels better than Ace. Browser, wait a little until ICS. And the design? Sorry, the same design being used by over 2 years is better than something new every year? And I think you didn't see the awesomeness of the BRAVIA Engine and the colour changing Transparent Bar

Hi,
I am currently tight on budget and the only phones i can afford are Sony Xperia Neo V or Sony Xperia U.
My main usage will be trying out different roms on the phone, medium gaming, browsing. Camera on both phones is enough for my requirement.
After buying any of the phone i will have to use it atleast for 1 year or 2.
Concerns:
Considering todays market and this multiple core talk should i go for Sony Xperia U?
Sony Xperia U has no expandable memory, will it be a problem from modding perspective?
Is dual core necessary to stay relevant for upcoming android os ?

DUALCORE single wont be able to keep up with upcoming games android os etc if you need a budget phone look on the internet for a galaxy s2 i have seen them for £200 do some looking around and you will find a good price
but if you cant get the dualcore one single core is for windows

You didn't actually say your budget and the prices for the phones you've listed.
Based on what you've actually said, go for the Xperia U. Dual core will make a world of difference if you plan to game "medium". Single core in my opinion is dying out. One worry about both phones though, is the fact that they both only have 512mb of RAM. That's a little small in my opinion.
Back to the thing about budget, SGS2s can now be purchased for under $400 AUD if you look around. That would be the best deal for your money - if you could afford it.
On top of that, the Xperia U looks much better
Can some one suggest me a good phone from 500$ to 550$ .. !!

Thread moved to General Q&A.
Suggest you a phone...
Go sim only until you can decide what you actually want from the device.
No point someone else saying buy this as I could say buy a Nokia as I like the hardware and it does what I want it to.
Go to some phone shops and have a play with some of the devices and don't let the sales rep push you into buying a phone just cause it's there.
Once you have played with the phone you like the look feel of. Go home. research it on the internet. are there any problems? Chances are someone has done a youtube review of it and will give you the pros and cons. At the moment I'm trying to find a device that meets the following criteria
If nokia bring out a device before android that meets this then I'll be going over to Windows OS.
1080 p video recording
Wifi N
hdmi out
Dual Mics
olded display
small footprint Not Samsung galaxy 3s
NFC
BT 4.0
4g
Micro SD expansion slot
12mp camera or greater.

Skyrocket 1.5Ghz Dual Core
So looks like skyrocket wins... BUT.... people sais S2 proccesor its better than skyrocket... because of manufacturer and stuff... i dont know about that
but there is a diference in screen... S2 its 4.3" Skyrocket 4.5"

Hello,
I have Samsung Galaxy J5, I installed slim live wallpapers in my phone, but they make the system ui and locker lag a lot.. This problem I did not experience in a phone with lower specs and price (Samsung Galaxy Core 2), with 512 mb ram. I have 1.5 GB Ram in J5 but still it lags a lot.. Another thing which I noticed is that, in j5 the same live wallpaper uses about 100 or 150 mb of ram but in my core 2 it uses only 30 to 40 mb of ram.. It might be a cause of lag ? The System UI in J5/J7 (2015) is very laggy. I flashed cm 12.1 in j5 and tried same live wallpaper and it used only 50 or 60 mb of ram and the phone was very very smooth.. no lag at all..
Is ther anyway how to fix this ?
