Skyrocket As a Music/Media Player - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

HI all. A couple of months ago I moved from my skyrocket to an S4.
I am now looking to use my skyrocket solely as a media device - primarily an mp3 player. I plan on removing most of my apps and just downloading something like PowerAmp and then synching my mp3 files to the internal memory.
As such, I am interested in a ROM that is very stable and that may have been optimized for music playback capabilities (for example, I know certain ROMs build in different DSPs, music controls, whatever).
Based on this can anyone please recommend a couple of ROMs that would best suit this purpose for me to go check out? Thanks.

I'm not gonna recommend a specific rom, but I would suggest if using it solely for music to use something compatible with this mod. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1878945. It greatly improves audio. Anything pretty 4.3 should work but read the op.

Thanks. This is exactly the kind of guidance I am looking for.
I know certain ROMs have some audio mods built in...does anyone know of ROMs that have this, or a similar audio mod, already included?

Look through the dev section and pick out something you think you'd like. Audio mods are easy to install, just make sure you follow the directions. The only rom I can remember with a pre-installed audio mod was blinky's revenge, but that's kind of old now and the dev has moved on. Good luck!

I actually have thought about creating a ROM just for that. Remove all phone, messaging stuff and basically make it a media player. Maintain wifi and BT. Add some audio enhancements and so on. Not sure how much interest there would be in that though. I would use it seeing as I do not use my skyrocket as a phone any more.
If I were to give this a go who would all be interested in it??

That's all I used my old SGS 4G for after I got the Rocket. Basically just put it in airplane mode and I could play tunes for over 24 hours on a single charge. It just decided to turn into a paper weight a few weeks ago. I've been using the Rocket for my music needs since then. Seeing as how I am getting another phone soonish I'll keep the Rocket strictly for music. So I would use something like that for sure. Keeping bluetooth and wifi would be great since I can stream to my sound bar with BT. Hell my phone could become my personal home juke box.

I would try it out just for fun even though I am still using my Skyrocket. However I am due for another phone soon.

If I remember I'll try and spin a 'phoneless' build tonight and see if it works.

I've done something like this with an old HTC Evo a buddy had it works well but i don't know where in the source all of the phone bits are to remove so that it can be completely clean. i think this would be a good project given the age of the phone itself.

Go for it... I had started on this. I had a booting build with basically no apps and phone capability and the I ran into a systemui fc. Still trying to figure that out and then I stumbled across omnirom, which I have been working on since.

Yes for the skyrocket. It is proving to be more difficult than I thought. It is more AOSP which is not setup for our device at all.
Spending more time on this media player today though.
You can keep up on the progress here: https://bitbucket.org/toyes/manifest
Any suggestions and ideas would be welcome. (Which players, audio mods... etc.)

jetAudi basic has been my go to player for a few years now. It has ten band EQ, sound effects and a preamp already on board. It however doesn't play nicely with King Beatz so just a heads up on that. If your ripping most of the stuff out of system that should leave a lot of room for multiple players. Then people could just choose whichever one they like best and set it as default.

I'm thinking that. Either that or different Zips for different players/mods.. or figure out how to use the aroma installer..

Music Player

I noticed in a Gingerbread video by Google, they were talking about Open Media and it's ability to easily have an EQ. Does this exist on the Nexus S's music player? If not, what are they waiting for.
They should just help out the dude making PowerAMP if not, I love that app but it sucks up too much battery with the EQ on.

That's exactly what they did it seems.
I did install Cyanogen on my N1 last night. Though I think my fully stock G2 is a leap ahead of it still in terms of display and speed, I love the DSP Manager addition.
Google needs to put some version of that into their OS. At least in the capacity of having different settings for headset, bluetooth, and speaker that are just presets like Rock, Pop, Dance, Classical, Spoken Word, etc...
Hopefully we'll see something in the next Gingerbread release, but somehow I doubt it.

[App] Netflix (Sound, No Video)

Here it is. My room mate actually sent this to me via email. He was using it on his Captivate, and it works flawless on my Inspire. ENJOY!
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/15595851/com.netflix.mediaclient-1.apk
EDIT: This is hit and miss. It DOES work on my phone (GingerBeast ROM), I am having reports that it does not work for most though. Many are stating they get audio and no video.
EDIT2: Please read post #10.
Just tried it and I'm able to log into my account and even select a movie but, when it plays, there is only sound and I don't get video. Running ace 1.01 if that makes a difference

Yup, same on CM7 b73 and RCMix 6.1.0.1. Worth a shot, though.
Awesome...I clicked multiquote and nothing happened.
I'm on GingerBeast, and works for me. Not sure what's up, as this was being used on a different phone. I'll update the OP to reflect this. :-( I'm sorry guys.

As dumb as this may sound, I have to rely on someone else to try this method and report back. I'm "uptime" testing a Rom, and can't reboot. :-(
And also, 6 minutes and 23 seconds into Top Gear, and it just crashed on my phone...So it's officially not stable on my Rom either. :-(
**Mods, because this is not stable, can this thread please be merged with the one posted by gunnyman in General?
Well no luck running RCKingdom v0.2 and doesn't play at all but lets you browse. Sill early, I'm sure some dev will get it working in no time.
Here's to wishful thinking!
Inspire 4g on CoreDroid 6.3 with latest LeeDroid Kernal. Sound but no video. Even though it's half functional, I'm just happy the app is finally out instead of them ***** footing around release dates. Soon enough we'll be golden.
I'm running leedroid 3.0.3 and I'm still getting the white screen of Doom
I just tried it in gingerbeast and it doesn't work. I shows a black screen for 13 seconds and then it does back to the movie list.

Is there such a thing as a resource monitor for Android? I ask this, because my room mate has the Captivate, and it works fine. Always. Maybe witha monitor of some sort, we could see what resources are being used on the Captivate -vs- the Inspire and kinda compare from there?
Obviously these are two different phones, but the general concept of functionality should not be too far off.

The room mate and I are gonna try to crack this case tonight! The plan is very stupid, but whatever. haha.
The basic principle of functionality should be equal clean across the board. It has to be the lack of a file or files that is preventing this. The hardware itself is VERY capable of working. This leads use to our conclusion...
I already had drmprovider.apk in my system folder, but did not have drmua.apk.
Tried adding this file and no dice.
Basically, if I already have the file, it will remain untouched. Anything else will be merged in, until it either works, or crashes the phone. I DO NOT SUGGEST OTHERS TRY THIS. I personally don't care, because I have insurance, under warranty, etc.
If we make any progress I will keep you all informed. And well...If I brick my phone, then I'll see you all in a few days. haha

[Q] Infused or MIUI

i am currently running the infused rom on my infuse 4g and i am noticing a lot of people talking about the MIUI rom. can someone tell me the big differences in the roms that makes them stand out from eachother. which one is more user friendly and such. i have uploaded a screenshot of my homescreen using go launcher ex.
really no replies yet? c-mon people help me out. i have been looking around and found a new rom that looks amazing. i am not a total noob at this stuff i know what i am doing. the new rom that i am looking at is called sensation rom and it looks amazing kudos to the guy that designed it. if you are running it please feel free to fill me in about it too. i am looking to flash a new rom soon and want to know what is the best that i can get for my infuse. here is the link for the sensation rom. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1325177
again all the help i can get from here would be greatly appreciated.
THANKS
you can wait longer than an hour lol
to get an idea of how the roms are different, you can watch some videos on youtube.
miui is a big change from most roms, it's probably best to just flash and see if you like it. it's not like flashing is permanent

the sense Rom is good, i will leave it at that.
i dont like to hype Roms, cuz they are different for everyone....you may not like the features on one while someone else absolutly loves them. Miui is the MOST customizable rom that is out there. Cm7 is a great Rom as well. i can find good things to say about most roms i have tried on the infuse. and i have Tried them ALL...lol
i say flash away, if your not a Noob - i know your not scared of a brick right.
take the time and see if you like it, if not Flash another and another and for ****s and giggles flash another.
trial and error is the only way to really see if a rom works for you.
It's al about personal opinion man, in my opinion, you should backup your current rom and then flash miui and give it a try. the worst that can happen is that you won't like it and all you have to do is restore from your backup.
Its just two ROMs..!! And you are on Infused. Try out MIUI for a couple days and keep what you liked more.

I've just flashed to MIUI. This is purely my opinion alone.
- It's has a very clean interface with no "crapware" at all. I've to install everything from scratch. That's a plus point anyway.
- And there's multitude of customization that can be done. From themes, to settings, etc.
- But the thing that I don't really like is all my installed app sitting pretty on the home screen.
- I do notice that it's faster than the original infuse interface. Faster browsing too.
- I think it has problems handling more than 4 gmail accounts and Google voice seem to be working erratically.
Apart from that, everything works fine and I'm still figuring it out further.
Think of MIUI as a REALLY REALLY GOOD knock off of iOS.
its CM7 with a skin. lol. basically.

Personal preference tbh.
so just to cover my ass a little, if i make a backup of my current rom using rom manager and i dont like MIUI i can always restore from the backup that i made? and when i do decide to get MIUI what and where should i get it from?
MIUI is in the developers section of the infuse forums. It is usually on the first page due to so many people posting on it, it isn't hard to find.
well i did it. i flashed to MIUI and i am going to see if i like it. so far i am not happy. i had my phone to backup all my contacts to google and it didnt and i even moved them to my sim card. so i lost all my contacts. but all in all its going to take some getting used to. will either upload pics at some point or maybe make a video to help people like me who are a lil iffy on rom flashing.
thanks guys for all your help!
I've been running MIUI for 3 weeks now and I LOVE it.....sleek, customizable, fast, faster browsing than stock....but I would recommend trying both to find the one that works for you

Any Good Music Player Apps?

I am looking for a music player with a good graphical equalizer. I have yet to find one that works without flaws...
(Running MIUI ROM)
MIUI stock music player:
Sounds good, equalizer is satisfactory, but you can't tell it what folder to pull music from. It just reads the whole phone. It has a setting that you specify minimum file size for, but that's crap. Should be able to just tell it where to find music and only load that music... It also skips/cuts off etc A LOT!
PlayerPro:
This player has a really crappy equalizer. The only positive I can think of about this app is the ability to use SRS enhancement in HTC phones that have it. This one skips/cuts out music more than any other app I have tried. No matter what happens, screen turns off, like 5-20 rapid cutouts. Quality of playback is poor. Accessing certain features are a pain and needs to be able to be accessed from Menu button while in the player, not just the main screen. But the cutouts for anything happening to the phone, browsing for the next song, volume up/down. Minimizing, screen on off. Huge/a lot of cutouts in playback.
PowerAMP:
This was probably one of the better apps. Great equalizer, very direct navigation to whatever you need. But this player also suffers from the cutouts when locking/unlocking or interacting with the phone. This app does have that Buffer setting, but even set to huge (725ms) it still suffers from these cutouts. And the update that came out today.. well that just screwed it up even more...
UberMusic:
Smooth, looks pretty, can tell it's a complete rip from Zune so I know how to navigate it at least. Cutouts while navigating the phone weren't nearly as bad, or didn't happen. The problem with this app is that it doens't have an equalizer. I googled, and found out that Fede (many may know him from that scam app LPP) promised to implement an equalizer. That same dev also promised a re-write of LPP be the end of 2010 and look where LPP is at.. completely abandoned for this music app. With that history I won't buy his music app until the equalizer is implemented. But based on what he's shown with LPP I don't see that happening for 932750923 years.
WinAmp:
Loved it on my computers since middle school... But for the phone, the cut-outs are almost as bad as PlayerPro, and it also has a pretty crappy equalizer.
Anybody else know of a good/smooth music app, with no cutouts in music playback and a good equalizer?
Thanks!

have you tried any of those one a Non MIUI rom? Reason I ask is that there is APP issues with any and all CM based roms including MIUI. Main reasin I ask is I do not have this problem with any of the music apps you mentioned, short of the MIUI as I have never used it and never will.
I only used LeeDroid prior to flashing MIUI and the stock (Sense) player did everything I needed it to without problems.
I guess it's possible this is a MIUI problem. Such a shame... smoothest/fastest and most customizeable ROM I've ever had on a phone.

I use powerAMP and have used prolly every rom made for the inspire. With a few exceptions. I don't have your issues. ./shrug
As for Your Miui claim, You have only used Leedriod and Miui. You may want to check out a few other roms. You claim fastest smoothest and have only tried two things.
Thats alot like claiming MCdonalds is the best berger when you have only tried MCdonalds and Burgerking.
Truthfully there are alot of burgers out there and you would be "missing" out.
FYI MIUI is not the fastest/smoothest.....lol
I used many ROMs on other devices. Tried MIUI back then and it was also the smoothest for me there, just couldn't deal with the facebook issues, the camera issues, the GPS issues etc etc it had at the time.
Can you recommend another ROM that's as small and fast/smooth as MIUI?
Try Absolution. I too am an advocate for miui but flashed about 3 weeks ago and haven't gone back!!!

have you tried any of those one a Non MIUI rom? Reason I ask is that there is APP issues with any and all CM based roms including MIUI. Main reasin I ask is I do not have this problem with any of the music apps you mentioned, short of the MIUI as I have never used it and never will.

If the reason really is due to MIUI being based on CM7, then I think this ROM would give me the same result, no?
I'm willing to give it a shot this weekend though. I don't see any screen shots in the thread for the ROM though, (and no place holders like I get from blocked content [at work, ha ha] like other pictures) could you post an SS of the notification pull down? I've grown to really like the 2 page system on MIUI...

I am currently using whats in my sig. And I don't have the issues you are having. With the music player. (power Amp)
Its also better, IMHO then MIUI. Its got just as many if not more customization options and you don't have to look at an IPHONE want-to-be interface.
I Also found Gingerbeast to be great and then Ninja. Granted I only like AOSP roms for the most part.
I have never had GPS or Facebook issues on any rom I have used. Can't say about the camera apps as I am not into pictures. Don't use it at all.
Thanks tweaked.
So music playback is smooth/continues even when you lock/unlock or launch an app etc?
And can you tell me if the notification pulldown has the 2nd page for toggles?
Yea, I really did not like the iPhone wannabe launcher either, but I use an alternative launcher...

Sir, Download and flash Absolution. You will be amazed.
The pull down does not have the 2nd page for toggles. But you can add as many toggles as you like to the top.
I just tested it and it does not Glitch when I lock and unlock the phone. Even on Bluetooth.
All this tho and I bet the issue isn't the rom you are using. You prolly just need a full reset. I have found that sometimes I just have to Completely Wipe the phone and then install from scratch to get rid of little annoyances that pop up. I used Miui for about 2 weeks and never noticed what you are experiencing.

I will give Absolution a shot this weekend. But as for a bad flash, I don't think the ONLY people that responded to my comment agreeing that there is a problem would also have a bad flash. Not one person said they didn't experience this issue. Must be just a MIUI thing.
Thanks for the info!

Well, MIUI is based on CM7; I'm having this exact problem with CM7 (latest build). As a matter of fact, I've always had this issue, and it's very annoying. I also have a problem with the sound cutting to mono when listening on a headset, and it's highly irritating, because the only way to fix it is to unplug and replug the headphones.
I wonder if a full clean wipe will fix this. I'm really thinking about giving it a shot, but the issue is that I'm going to be stuck with one of two options: either a Sense ROM or a CM7 ROM. I really love CM7, and have no other issues with it than this, so I'm wondering if it is indeed worth it to switch to a Sense based ROM.
I know I won't be going back to sense.
Think I'll just gu buy an MP3 player if it comes down to that.

Custom sound "Theme Packs" , yay!

Hey guys,
Hopefully this post is okay in here. If not, sorry!
I've been on and off XDA for a while now. Haven't been too active because every phone I've had until now was outdated/lame/old and so on.
Loving the Galaxy S III. Very surprised by how good this phone is. I actually replaced an iPhone 4S 32GB with this.
Anyways,
Currently I work with 3D and Photoshop as a living and I spend 90% of my free time with music production and sound design.
I'm going to start work on one by one making my own custom sounds for my phone. Most of the current sounds I'm not to fond of so I figured I'd get some experience with this.
Wanted to let you guys know I can do custom sounds for you if you like. Just let me know what you're thinking and I'll see what I can do!
At times my life gets a little hectic so I'll try and keep up as much as I can.
The XDA community rocks, keep it up guys! <3

EDIT:
Alright! Here's the first two packs.
PLEASE NOTE
I am not responsible for anything bad you do to your phone
Changing sounds within the system files requires your phone to be rooted!
If you are not rooted then please check out this awesome how-to for rooting/unlocking the bootloader/ and so on, here.
There's two methods you can go about installing these packs.
1: You can simply download the .zip packs, place them in the root of your sdcard, boot into recovery, and run them!
OR
2: Using a file explorer like ES File Explorer, ASTRO, or something similar, copy the contents that are in the "audio" folder within the .zip, and paste them over the original files in your: system/media/audio directory on your phone.
NOTE: Some file explorers require you to enable an option in their settings to even allow you to see the system section of your phone. Also, since you're writing new files, you need to make sure the file explorer will allow to write files in these sections.
Some of the file explorers default to these settings off for the safety of your phone!
ANYWAYS,
Here's what I have so far:
GS_III_FlashableSoundPack_customSTOCK
- All stock sounds except for the annoying "power on" and "power off" sounds
GS_III_FlashableSoundPack_MGSedition
- A Metal Gear Solid Theme pack
- This is an early version for now with the following changes:
- NEW "Call_Connect" Sound
- NEW "Charger_Connection" Sound
- NEW "Lock" Sound
- NEW "Unlock" Sound
- NEW "LowBattery" Sound
- NEW "PowerOff" Sound
- NEW "MGS_Codec_Call" placed in Ringtones
- NEW "MGS_Found" placed in Notifications
That's it so far!
Do keep in mind, I'm only testing these on a Galaxy S III. I don't know if the sound files of other phones are named and placed the same as this. So, for those of you with other phones, please let me know if you would like to get these to work on your device and we can work together to figure it out.
ALSO
For now the flashable .zip I'm using is unmodified (besides the files it's delivering) and I got it from here
I would like the zip to say something else while it runs but I can't figure that out yet!
Either way, it works, AND Be sure to thank papayayoghurt in some way or another. The flashable zip makes this soooooooo easy!
Thanks again guys!
Please send me more suggestions, ideas, devices you want to see it on, and so on.
I will be gone for the weekend so I won't be able to get a whole lot done on this, but we'll see.
List of what needs to be done:
1. Football Theme
2. Ninja Turtles Theme
3. Legend Of Zelda Theme
4. The Simpsons Theme
5. Final Fantasy Theme
6. Assassins Creed Theme

Here's these View attachment GSIII-TestSounds.rar
They are very simple "old-school" sounding notifications.
I was using these as test sounds to confirm that I could do it.
I'll hopefully get to making some better, more detailed ones today.
I'll do this nicely, before someone does it not so nicely...
Shouldn't this have been posted in either Q&A or Themes & Apps...?

NFL music for a ringtone.
Ref whistle, "hut" and thuds, crowd cheering for notifications.

Hey guys,
Thanks for the suggestions and your kind words. Working on some theme packs now!
Do keep in mind changing UI sounds requires your phone to be rooted
If you're not rooted please follow the awesome instructions here!
So far I'm working on:
1. My custom them pack
2. Metal Gear Solid theme pack
And I can work on a football them pack also
Anymore suggestions?
Ninja turtles theme pack!

Okay,
The Metal Gear Solid pack is pretty much done. Just had to convert the sounds to the proper format and that's it!
Obviously there's not a ton of MGS sounds out there so I'm only replacing the important ones.
Only issue is. I want to create a simple .ZIP so that all you guys have to do is boot into recovery, run the .ZIP, and it's all set!
I'm not really experienced at all with this and I simply want it to overwrite new .ogg files over the originals and place some ringtones/notifications in the proper folders. Any help?
Just FYI, I will be testing all of these packs on my Galaxy S III to ensure they work and eventually I could adjust them to work with other Android devices if that's necessary, and of course I'll create a pack that will bring you back to stock sounds if you like.

I haven't actually attempted it yet, but it explains how to make flashable zips.
Just wondering, what is the kind of process involved to make sound files like the ones we find on our phones? Like the water droplet, or the notifications sounds and whatnot. What kind of software is involved, what plug-ins, virtual instruments, synths, etc are normally used for something like that? I find it all really interesting and would love to learn how to make custom sounds!

Thanks for the link, I really appreciate it!
Only problem is, is apparently this type of code is not supported with this version of Android so I have to do it in the new standard but I can't find much on it and it's got me quite confused now.
The creating and editing of the samples is not the hard part really but creating an easy install method is turning out quite hard! :/
As far as sound creation goes, it all depends on what type of sound you're trying to create.
Like you mentioned, the water droplet, it probably could have been made by a very experienced sound engineer with a synthesizer, BUT the easier route would be:
1. Record the droplet with a somewhat decent microphone
2. (now that we're in the digital age. Haha!) Bring the recorded sample of the water droplet into some software (in my case, I use FL Studio { NOTE: a lot of people HATE it because it's "cheap", but I personally LOVE it! , easiest to use and most unrestricted workflow hands down!})
3. Editing wouldn't be much with something like this, you would simply cut out the "bad" frequencies. So, typically, the unnecessary really low frequencies. Also, the sample would be cut so that the excess audio is not in there. You only want the sample to be of the audio you want!
4. Export the final sample as the required file type, so in androids case, it uses .ogg in most cases I think?
That's it!
But then there comes the part of creating sounds with software, and that's were the possibilities are truly endless!
A lot of musicians, producers, sound engineers, and ect tend to have VERY biased opinions about software, and frankly it's downright low. Almost all of the big DAWs (Digital Audio Workstations) out there are so similar now it doesn't matter! And then they start saying that you can tell by the way a track sounds they know which DAW it was made with, which is also a load.
In the end it doesn't matter which tools you use to "cook" your latest awesomeness, it never does, but what really matters is how those tools were used!
Try not to be overwhelmed by the DAWs out there. Once you learn one you can seriously learn them all! They all have extremely similar sections and run on the same ideas.
When I started learning audio production and all that a couple years ago I didn't have internet so I kinda just learned it on my own so I don't really know of any good places for tutorials off the top of my head, BUT Google and Youtube should be a good start!
I know ImageLine (the creators of FL Studio) have tutorials up on their YouTube for almost everything they make.
Something I LOVE about working on music on a Windows PC is that most of the DAWs use a standard plugin format and no proprietary bullcrap. This would be VST. There's COUNTLESS free VST plugins out there that you can do soooooooooo much with. Which is freaking sweet! Haha
Well,
I've got to get some rest, I'll be posting more on here tomorrow. Let me know if you have any more questions and sorry if this isn't clear, hopefully it is!
Thanks!
- Ezra

Wow! Thanks for the extensive explanation! I'm just always wondering where I can get some more experience. I'm not so much interested in it as a career, but more as a hobby, and I have played around a bit in Reaper (my personal favorite DAW), but again I don't know too much yet. I guess I'll have to try some of those methods some time, and perhaps give FLStudio a shot too.
Thanks again, that was really an awesome reply!
Not to go on the contrary, but I've been mixing for some time now, and any actually experienced musician or producer should be able to tell what daw you use. They do all sound different. I actually create sample packs for musicians to use... if your cutting up audio, you should be using something like Amadeus or audacity. None of the daws go to enough detail in a sound file to create truly clean samples. Trust me on this.

Try audacity. It's free and is a dedicated audio editor, not a music creation studio. Audacity will allow you to zoom in enough to really separate what you're trying to sample from the rest of the sound.

How about some Simpsons sounds???
Homer - "Doh!" "Aaaaaaaaaoh!"
Marge - her trademark grunt of exasperation
Bart - Don't have a cow man!
Mr Burns - Excellent
Nelson - Ha Ha
Dr. Hibbert's chuckle
Dr. Nick's "Hi everybody!"
Ralph - pretty much anything he says
etc.
Would love a Final Fantasy pack.

Not going to go into a big argument here, but that's totally not true and never will be. Google it,countless forums trying to prove that they sound different but no proof that shows they truly sound very different, and even if they sounded slightly different. Why does it matter? We're all different, we all like different things, the software/tools should never matter, just what we do with them.
A lot of DAWs come with stock sounds that over time you can ASSUME came from the original DAW they were bundled with, but how do you actually know for a fact which DAW they came from? Who really knows, the artist could have taken those stock sounds from one DAW and put them into a completely different DAW! Haha
Creating sample packs can be a lot of fun! Do you do more of the digital stuff or foley work to? I personally love both
As far as cutting the audio goes. Most DAWs are good. I'm not saying all of them, but I've personally been using FL Studio, I've used Digital Performer, Pro Tools, Garage Band, Ableton Live, and a few more and had no issues. It's all in your head, sure some DAWs make it easier than others, but it's not to the point where if you use a certain DAW to edit sounds it just totally ruins them. Haha!
Audacity is a pretty good program and the fact that it's free is awesome. Do check it out guys if you're interested!
