*** DISCONTINUED DUE TO MY TIME RESTRICTIONS***
Hi All,
This is my first thread so please excuse me if I'm breaching any rules.
This is a Volume Boost MOD for SM-900 version of our beloved Note 3. You need a ROOTED Device!
MOD.zip is for a high boost and
MOD_Moderate.zip is for a moderate boost.
MOD_Little.zip is for a little boost. (This is intended to be in between Stock and Moderate)
Note that these are all relative and changes from one's taste to that of another.
This mod increases the Speaker volume when the speaker is on during
- a phone conversation,
- music playback
- Ringtones, notifications..etc
Additionally, there's a slight increase in the wired headphone during Music Playback.
1- BACKUP YOUR ysound.xml file under /system/etc. Then, Unzip the desired MOD provided in zip attached and overwrite ysound.xml file to /system/etc with the file explorer of your choice. Here, I used ES Explorer.
2- Once you're done unzipping and overwriting the existing ysound.xml file select the file then press "More" , then "Properties", then "Change" button for the "Permissions". Apply -rw-r-r-- for the permissions. Attached, you'll see the screenshots for the procedure.
3- Once you make SURE that you followed the instructions, reboot the device.
4- In case you want to come back to the original stock version of the file, either put back your backup or unzip the attached ORIGINAL.zip and apply the above 1 and 2.
Hope this is useful.
PS. Please can someone find out and share what the line 3558 is for in the modded file that I attached? Thank you.
Kartal, thanks for this mod, I think this is also valid for SM-N9000Q for Turkish phones, right?
Regards.

Yes, this MOD should work on all SM-900 models, including the Turkish SM-N9000Q. Mine is SM-N9000Q and it works flawlessly.
This MOD has nothing to do with the phone ID or firmware (as long as the device is SM-N900). Btw, you can easily change the phone ID.

I adjusted so that the music doesn't get distorted heavily. I suggest that you use it at around 90% volume as it sounds OK to me. Just try it yourself, start from 100% volume and come down gradually until you are happy with the sound.
I am pretty sure it is not gonna break your speakers, at least..

the only thing is that i would like to wait to root it...
maybe you know if there is an app (without root) to encrease the volume?
I am coming from s4 rooted with sound mod installed and the quality is ok but the volume is too low (like s4 stock)...

Unfortunately, there's no way to use this MOD without root. There are other apps in Google Play but they work differently (if they work for Note3 at all). This MOD modifies the xml script of Yamaha.

If you are using ES File explorer, for example, you need to enable root function as well: Click Menu, then under Tools enable Root Explorer and click on it, then click Mount R/W, then select all those three items as RW. You're done! Now you can write/delete..etc

Yes, there should be dedicated parameter for it.
Please try
<scenario name="AndroidPlayback_Audio_Bluetooth_Normal_BT8">

Sorry I don't have any BT accessories so I can not try it myself.

Ok I will post a new version with less Boost today.

First off, a big thanks to CosmicDan, 7OH, and 007shark.
As otherwise I wouldn't have these two mods.
Xloud is from 007shark's UK rom for R800x. It WILL increase all system sounds. It SHOULDN'T blow your speakers unless you always have then on max volume then that's your fault. Its not needed for the track skip to work, just thought I'd share.
Download via mediafire
And music skip via volume keys, hold the volume up key for next song. Down for previous song.
Download via Mediafire
Another version of the track skip mod but the buttons are fliped function wise.
Down=next song up=previous song
Download via Mediafire
Thanks for sharing this. ^_^ I'm curious though, if stock VZW doesn't have XLoud to begin with, what makes it louder than CM9?
Also, do I need XLoud installed to use the skip track mod?
Not sure, I shared xloud since I just like the boost knowing my speakers are as loud as they can be.
You don't need it for the track skip I wasnt going to upload it at first but then figured other people may want it. I'll add that to the OP later.
Sent from my R800x
Alright. I flashed the button mod and it's working perfectly. I'll definitely give XLoud a try sometime. My speaker is loud enough for ringtones but when it comes to music, it could be louder.
--NVM-- I saw the thread for ICS.
But nice job dude. If I ever go back to GB(don't plan on it with the amazing-ness of ICS) I'm gonna end up using this mod. Stock sounds are too quiet.
And how would I remove them if I say i no longer wanted them?

-.- was referring to a more convenient method like deleting a system file or something of that nature.
If you mean the track skip replace my android.policy.jar with your old one.
Do the same for xloud but delete the files I have added. You should notice your backup won't have a few of the files in the xloud.zip just remove them.

sweet anyway this can be converted into an app?
Like Xperia Tweaks is an app that enables the Mobile Bravia engine, if you're not using it you can uncheck it, and even uninstall it.
Having something like that would be awesome & convenient

Have tried flashing the current version on 2.3.4? I don't think verizon changed the policy that much. Otherwise could you upload a copy of 2.3.4's android.policy.jar and I'll make another version sometime uuh after lol.
Thanks.

I flashed the volume up as next track (kind of emulate what PlayerPro does). What music programs does this work for? It kept starting my Winamp, but not moving onto the next track. Does it work for stock?
Will xLoud work on CM9?
I haven't been able to, I would like to though. atm I'm stuck here
I've tried making the xloud service pressiatant ie always on but the system wouldn't switch to the xloud_device nor route it through the speakers or headphones. If you look at sechko's paranoid android port you'll notice he has included the xloud wrapper and xloud sound libs but the system ignores them.
Hey, is there any way to boost up the volume on Xperia J? I used to have Desire Z and Sound Boost from android market worked just fine but with this phone it does not.

If it is the phone, and I believe it is, you have to try 1) a custom ROM, 2) very good quality earphones or 3) there is a music app which allows a simple, powerful volume boost through the equaliser, the app is called Rocket Player, I use it and it overcomes my low audio problem.
Hey do you happen to know if there is some kind of a mod to boost the volume for a couple of dB? Equalizing is not the same and I'm sure that this phone can playback music a lot louder, I'm using headphones because I don't like earphones.
I use the app Volume Boost and works fine when I turn the phones.
The sound is perfect.
Could you please provide exact link to Google Play?
I tried some of these https://play.google.com/store/search?q=Volume+Boost&c=apps
And none would work. They would only stop songs from playing at all. I'm on stock, no root.
Edit:
I just bought the Volume Boost app the one with speaker in icon, it doesn't work so I got a refund. None of those work. I guess I will have to edit out some values by hand after rooting.
Thanks anyway

It just stops the music or downmixes sound to mono in my case. I guess Xperia J's kernal is different or something.

Just put CM on it, it's very stable, + you get the db limit removed, and you get DSPManager.It's much louder than the stock ROM.
But I want to keep Sony UI and all, is there any way I could replace some files manually and boost up the dB? Like a prop file or something? It's really frustrating. I get it that have to limit it due to some sort of laws but come on..
So far I've managed to track down few files at:
etc/audio_effects.conf which calls for Hearing Protection service?
etc/AudioFilter.csv which is exactly the same as in CM roms, so it can't be it
Any idea on the Hearing Protection?
Edit:
I've tried removing all of these from the audio_effects.conf but no luck, the volume is still cut off.
soundaura removes the studio reverb menus,
vpt the More.. menu in the sound enhancements menu.
clearaudio the equalizer in walkman player
hearing protection is what I thought it would be but it doesn't work
clearaudio {
path /system/lib/soundfx/libclearaudiowrapper.so
}
vpt {
path /system/lib/soundfx/libvptwrapper.so
}
soundaura {
path /system/lib/soundfx/libsoundaurawrapper.so
}
HearingProtection {
path /system/lib/soundfx/libhearingprotection.so
}
}
Edit #2:
Removing entire lib/soundfx/ doesn't do anything except for disabling stuff in the Walkman player. I've also tried to remove from system/app/ everything somehow related to audio and it wouldn't work either.
I will get on that tomorrow. eh...
Edit #3:
I've tried to replace libaudio files with the ones from one of the CM roms which are different from xperia... but that made the stock ROM unable to boot at all, had to reflash the phone using PC Companion (The update phone function + fix).
I don't think I'm able to boost up the volume on the stock ROM. Oh well...
Did anyone find a way to boost up the volume by now? It would be great...

Boosted my volume by 28%. really makes a difference.
The best way to know its working is to run some music up max. then boost it in the app. It works really well
What about using equalizer like in ttpod? If the sound is still slow, its better to get cmoy.
Now using:
Sony Xperia tipo ST21i
stock 4.0.4
11.0.A.4.22
(rooted, locked bootloader)
Current problem:
Cant get past installing flash drivers in xp.

Actually it is not. In Korea there is no setting and no way to decrease the sound of the shutter due to the law. Not even by plugging in headphones or lowering volume. Unless the phone is rooted and in that case it's illegal. .......It's to help convince perverts not to take photos up girls skirts. If it is rooted though and this may work for all phones. It did for my Korean Note, S4, and S5. Go into system/media/audio/ui look for any files named shutter.ogg or similar there will be a couple, rename them adding .bak (ex. shutter.ogg.bak) so they are easy to find and fix if you have issues. Reboot and voila. Yo will have to do this each time you flash an update.

I found a new solution. Install viper (on magisk 16.0, cuz won't work on further versions) and then audio modification library. Then just apply the profile and open equaliser (idk why but equaliser won't apply without opening it)
This will install viper and driver properly...

And all modules working
not bad once i turned the output gain down abit im using V1 the first v1 with Soundalive 4k edition, dynamic system unknown 2 at 14%, base at pure 100hz at 8db, clarity hifi 3.5db masyer gain -3.0db
Just want to say a big thanks for the vdc, I really like the v1 but can't vote for the v1 on poll got the "test" word
v3 is clearer but I think it is lacking treble, base is good tho
I checked DDCs using FLC8s on silver cabel - the most natural sounding setting is V1 (as mentiond above). Would reccomend to change Master Gate (Limiter) -> Output Gain to ~ -6/-5 instaed of -20. With the rest I just started experimenting.
Sorry for reviving an old thread, just wanted to say that the included kernel profiles are great in the zip. I am using a Surface Book with W10 v1809 and V4W. (For those wondering how I got it working use https://github.com/alanfox2000/non-official-viper4windows)
Hello friends, after spending more time with my mi 10 codename umi I have found a way to get more stereo effect from your beloved speakers of mi 10 and better visual quality when watching videos too. Now you need to go to settings and special features then click video tools and there you can see manage video apps and add any music or video playing apps to use this feature and that's so you can get those tools by opening the desired app that you selected in toolbox settings and if you're on that music or video app just you might able to see that transparent shortcut at the edge of the screen and swipe right or left to open tooltbox from there you can actually click sound and video filters and then you can customise it according to your needs x

Restart your device and try you can find like swipe from right or left to gain access to the control and it's buggy sometimes like it doesn't show up and I found that restarting the device and toggle on and off the settings will work
yes, I must toggle off and on the settings just worked, thanks

Actually worked loudness is noticeable but it would be better if MIUI adds EQ for us to adjust
