I have a really annoying issue. and its happening in all my browsers, chrome, firefox, next...
when i type a url: for example: xda-developers.com in the omni bar. it takes me to search-goals.com
i have to actually type the www or the http for it to take me to the website.
i looked through all the browser settings but this is not mentioned anywhere. also googleing for an answer isnt helping

Ok found the problem. it was ai keyboard. and it had some "smart search" function... boy that was annoying.

I am searching for a web browser where i can turn of my address bar so i can only from the homepage, thats because i want my personnel just to use my website. not something else.
Maybe you could explain it a little more?
What exactly do you mean?

how to set the opera in HD2 to show scroll bar?

i try to set it in 'about:config' but it has no response! i have checked the box of show scroll bar but no change! can anyone help! many thanks!
i havent tryd this so just guessing, but isnt it like the other scrollbars? where you have to hold your thumb far right for the scrollbar button to 'grow out'?
i've tried but the scroll box dont come out!
it is very inconvenient especially when need to drag down to the bottom. now i have to scroll with finger many times! pls help!
Has anyone found the solution to this problem yet?
Come on guys? Am I the only one who visit long web pages?
did anyone find a solution to this.
Is is not possible to have a pop-out enlargened scroll bay in Opera.
Sorry guys but Opera just doesnt have a real scrollbar. All you can see there is a sort of indicator, not more not less. It is just not an active part of Opera just a visual thing. You cant do anything about that...
How can these very basic function be missing in opera which is supposedly one of the best browser!
Even stranger is that I spend two hours searching and noticed that not much people are complaining about this......
Very bad when trying to read entries from wikipedia. Had to flick my finger till I feel like throwing the phone out the windows! Guess I've to start searching for an alternative browser.....
I often read large documents with opera. Getting to the bottom of one webpage I had to swipe down 500 times - yes I counted them!
I agree this should be a standard function of any browser.

[Q] CSS overflow fix

I am new to the Android community. I just purchased a G Tablet and would like to get involved in the developer community. Today is my second day of Gtab usage. I noticed that you cant scroll within a page. I looked around and some people are saying it is not a javascript problem but a css problem.
Does anyone know if there is a fix available or being worked on?
Thank you for any insight.
You can join in on the fun here. http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=2118
Thanks
Thank you. It doesnt look like anyone cares to fix this at google.

Hi,
I asked about this a long time ago, so thanks for that link! I just posted on the issue there, maybe others could also..
Also, when I was emailing the Xscope developer awhile ago, I think he said that all other browsers use Webkit, except for Xscope, but I noticed that Xscope also has problems scrolling w the same pages, so maybe we can email him to see if he can fix it in Xscope at least?
Jim
Yeah i posted up earlier in that thread. I have been watching this for a while. Maybe honeycomb will address this problem. Although that won't necessarily help my original droid.
Css overflow fix!!!!
The new firefox RC browser will do overflow correctly. I just tested it on my UOP forum site. You can scroll the overflow with a single finger!!!!

Thanks for pointing that out!
Fyi, I just trled Opera Mobile 11 and it looks like that works also

Opera vs Firefox
Now I didnt play with the settings on Opera 11, but it appears the way it handles the CSS overflow is by altering the webpage to show the entire DIV. So you dont have to scroll. It can make some pages look funny.
Firefox actually lets you scroll within the DIV with a single finger.
Opera may be able to do that too, but I did not fiddle with the settings to find out.
Also Firefox does not have flash support yet. I did not check Opera 11, but I think I read that it was flash ready.
You're right about the formatting w Opera. And yes Flash is working w Opera, but not Firefox.

Chrome question

Is there anyway to set Google chrome to show the desktop version without always having to check the "request desktop site" option? Just would be a lot more convenient if I can set it as a default. Thanks in advance!
Have been searching for an answer to this too.... I think Dolphin Browser has the option for it, but was hoping to use Chrome on my new tablet...
Oh wow.. SEARCH!

Address bar suggestions not showing up in Chrome

For some reason today, when I type a search query or URL in the address bar in Chrome, no predictions are coming up. I have the 'Search and URL suggestions' box ticked in settings/privacy.
I tried switching the search engine to Yahoo instead of Google and started getting suggestions again, but I much prefer the suggestions that Google makes. I've tried restarting my phone, clearing data from Chrome in Apps, Force closing Chrome, uninstalling updates to Chrome etc. Nothing.
Does anyone have any idea how I can get address bar predictions to come back?
Thanks
Same issue here.

I've got the same issue too, and just noticed this today! But I have an HTC One M8 (AT&T version).
See my Google product forums post about this:
https://productforums.google.com/fo...e=footer#!msg/chrome/xTTHziAr1C0/9b7w4CHSiQYJ
Maybe if others reply to my thread on there (stating that you also have the problem) Google will take notice of it?
Interestingly the search suggestions *do* show up if I use Google Now or Firefox or default HTC browser, or pretty much in any other app (even Google Play) that uses Google search. Just not in Chrome (any more).
As my thread says, it *used* to work in Chrome just fine. If I try to "uninstall" Chrome, meaning roll it back to the oldest default version that came with the phone, then Google search suggestions again work just fine. But then soon Chrome auto-updates and it doesn't work again.
So… since I'm not the only one experiencing this, I'm thinking that a recent Chrome update must have caused this, in which case a lot more people should be noticing it soon… I hope. I'm not sure when the latest Chrome update was, or if this only effects certain devices, or what.
Anyway, if anyone has any ideas on how to fix this, please share!
thanks

Mine seems to work fine... Unfortunately too fine. My "bad" sites are showing up as history items when I clearly used them incognito...

Has anyone managed to figure out what's causing this? I posted on the nexus 5 reddit and it seems a couple of other people are also having the same issue.

So I looked further into it, and it's "Google Instant" and apparently it'snot working on a bunch of phones, including the LG G2... I can't tell if its an LG thing or Android thing. Apparently Chrome Beta has this issue as well... but not on my Chrome Desktop
Can confirm this started happening to my phone too. Seems to be a problem with clearing history too. Weird.

Ah is it all phones or just a few models?
Same issue here. Not exactly sure when it stopped working...
I get this to. I think it started last night. If i uninstall and go back to the preinstalled chrome found in kitkat 4.4.2 it works fine. Or if I switch to bing as search engine It will work.
trying to google it I'm not getting too much for this. So I'm thinking it might be just us 4.4.2 users???
Hope it gets fixed soon
I thought it was only me. Spent an hour or so trying to figure it out. Hopefully gets sorted out soon.

I too am having similar issues and can't find a single suggestion that fixes the problem. When I type in the address bar, auto suggestions do appear, but they are only from my search history and bookmarks. None of them are search suggestions like when using google.com.
I did follow the instructions provided to enable Google Suggestions in the address bar, then use Ctrl+K to place the cursor in the Omnibox to conduct a search, and begin to enter query you will receive query suggestions. That is, when Google.com is the default search engine.

Thanks for the advice. I think you're referring to the desktop browser whereas we are all referring to the Chrome browser on the Nexus 5.
My search predictions seem to be back again which is good. Has anyone else got theirs back?
Mine's working again.
[SOLVED -- Thanks Google :^).]
Confirmed… Google fixed this! :^)
