But all, just keep it nice and clean.

What would be great is a google spreadsheet list with a small blurb about what the app is, and perhaps other apps it's related to since a number of these are going to be connected.

On my todo list

I did the same on my razr HD when I found a comprehensive list of what each of the apps are doing. I froze some apps on my note 3 already, but the ones I wasn't sure of wether they're needed or not I didn't touch.

THANKS!!!
Wow, this thread is awesome!!!
I was finding apps to remove/freeze on my Note 3 (SM-N900) as I was only getting 3.5 to 4 hours screen time on regular usage. And in order to save some battery!!!...
And I came across this thread!!
THIS IS GREAT!
MANY THANKS!
:good::good::good:

Also would be nice to have a guide about safe deleting of several ROM items like Wallpapers or Sounds (and other things) in a way to free up space for our own apps, and have a Slimmer ROM..
What dou you think?

Sounds great, but my first goal is to make some kind of spreadsheet with good information about every app that can be frozen and what the purpose is of that specific app.
And this will take a a lot time.
When done, we will see.

Why don't you just throw it up on Google Docs and iterate slowly - and also getting the community to chip in. Like so -

Would be also good to get a level of battery usage.
Like High Medium Low. Know it would take ages but maybe make a collaborative piece so we can all help out!

My experience with freezing is that it will save some battery, but don't expect miracles.
For example, without freezing i will lose about 1% a hour at standby and now i will lose less 0.5%.
But every % is one .
And i just hate it when i spent a lot of money to buy a nice expensive smartphone, it is loaded with bloatware i don't use and eating resources.

I couldn't find a list of apps that could be frozen last Saturday, but I found one via the forums search for the Galaxy S4. So if you really want to make a google spreadsheet, I would start with the S4 one as a template as it already contains a lot of information about apps that can be found on the note 3. I just checked through the spreadsheet to verify that I didn't freeze anything I need (I looked up which apps run in the background and then checked the spreadsheet before freezing an app). But having a complete list with info about what app-freeze impacts what other apps would be great too. Just found out this morning that I couldn't send SMS as I mistakenly froze the messaging app :silly:

Nice list...Now loving my new toy even more!

Safe to Remove these apps??

Okay, so I've gone and f'd around with TiBu before on my Droid X and removed system/user apps that I didn't personally used. Long story short my phone stopped functioning the way it should and I had to sbf and start over. So this time I figure I'll get some input before I go doing such things. This is a list of apps I want to delete, some of them I've already frozen without adverse effects so I prob could delete those but I added them in the list anyways.
AllShare Controller 1.0
AllShare Play 1.0.0210
AllShare Service 1.0
Backup Assistant Plus (1.0 &/or 2.0 - I would imagine I could at least get rid of one of them right?)
Bubbles 1.0 (Live Wallpaper)
Deep Sea 1.0 (Live Wallpaper)
Email 4.0 (I only ever use Gmail)
Exchange Services
Google Play Music 4.3.609.x
Google+ 3.1.1.x
JellyBean Keyboard
Luminous Dots 1.0 (Live Wallpaper)
Media Hub 1.6.0(LE07,6487)
Music Hub 30.2012.x
Phase Beam 1.0 (Live Wallpaper)
Photo Wall 1.0 (Live Wallpaper)
S Memo 12.02.07.4816 (There's actually 2 of this exact thing in my TiBu list...)
Sync Service 2.8.0.1.17 (I believe this is more Backup Asst garbage)
Any input would be appreciated.
I can confirm that I have removed the following .apk's from the ROM and have not had any problems with stability.
[*]S Memo 12.02.07.4816 (There's actually 2 of this exact thing in my TiBu list...)
[*]Media Hub 1.6.0(LE07,6487)
[*]Music Hub 30.2012.x

ChocoEUKor is a font, nothing special. Not entirely sure about the other. It's listed as safe on the link above. It's named Bluetooth.apk but removing it doesn't hurt BT functionality (nor GPS). If I don't know what it is, I probably don't need it

[APP][2.3+] A New Innovation in Music - Holo Ten Music v2.5

Now one of the Top Twenty New Apps To Try according to AndroidTapp.com
Because of said Top Twenty, a recent review from Droid Horizon and readers like you, Holo Ten Music has reached 150 unique downloads.
Anyone care to screw with my OCD and make it 201?
****Update 06/15/2013****
Holo Ten now has new songs and new features. As prommised 4 weeks ago, every Friday I'll send out new songs and new features to keep it new and exciting for new users and the users who have been there since the begining. So download it for free, what do you have to lose.
mod edit
There's Pandora, Spotify, iHeart Radio, and now Google Music All Access. All of them you have to waste your data streaming the same songs over and over because there are only a few good ones and you just skip the rest. Now There is something new developed by me.
This new app in Music Innovation is called mod edit
Holo Ten is a Gingerbread and up targeted app that plays the top ten songs in the country, and that's it. You download the app, you have all the music, so no streaming. Holo Ten updates weekly so you never get bored with the same old songs. There is no sign ins, no sign ups, just one thing, the music.
Holo Ten is my debut app on the Google Play Store for both phones and tablets.
Thank you fellow <Devs/> and have a good day.

Thank you. I actually just finished updating the app with compressed music files so the app download is smaller. Hope you enjoy the new music experience.
I was wondering why it's was so big
linaro cm10.1

I made it that way so the music download is out of the way. You want the music the minute you have the app that can play it, right? So why not include the music with the app so you don't have to download it later. This integration of music with the app is what makes it work so smoothly and user friendly
Not working
I download the app but when i press play the app close
I am using a Galaxy SIII with UltimaRom
Can you check the app?
Does it crash, if it does send me a report. I am currently running the latest which is 1.2.5 and it works fine on my G Nexus, Nexus 7 and my friend's Optimums L9.
MAKE SURE YOU ARE ON 1.2.5. 1.2.4 had a serious glitch.
I am happy to help with any issues you are having so feel free to also send me screen shots [email protected]
Further testing has shown that Holo Ten Music is currently bug free. And has been for quite some time.

Just curious why you'd disable the apps that are just as easily uninstallable (ie.Hangouts, GP Books, Games, Music, Drive, Earth)?
If you don't plan on using them....ever....why not increase your storage capacity?

Are you using a custom ROM in which they're baked in? If so, the process for removing system .apks is a bit different, and you may in fact want to simply leave them disabled rather than removing entirely so you don't encounter any potential FC's or loss of functionality.

You removed facebook ? so you downloaded it and then uninstalled it, madness man madness.
I remove these every CM flash :
STK-SimToolKit ( PoS junk )
Terminal Emulator ( No need if you have a custom recovery )
MMS ( not hangouts )
Movie Editor ( WTF what is this a phone or a PC ? )
All Live wallpapers ( Saves some space, and i don't know anyone who uses them )
Email client and exchange ( don't use exchange because of pin entry swapped to gmail on Android 1.0 )
Any non-google camera related gallery(s) ( for AKOP / AOSP builds )
Sound recorder ( useless for me personally )
Any Browser that's not chrome ( always use linked devices to follow links from home / work )
Google+ / Magazines / Books / movies ( never used these and why bother magazines and books / movies are all integrated into play store, if GAPPS includes these )
You disable Drive? Dang son that's how/where my schoolwork gets done haha.
I'm on stock, rooted.

Are you using a custom ROM in which they're baked in? If so, the process for removing system .apks is a bit different, and you may in fact want to simply leave them disabled rather than removing entirely so you don't encounter any potential FC's or loss of functionality.

That doesn't make sense I'm pretty sure. Disabling an app has the same effect as uninstalling the app. The apk is simply not accessible to the OS, as it doesn't run. So you wouldn't prevent any dependency problems by disabling than by simply removing.

(shrugs).... you may be right. I would still play it safe before deleting them though, or @ the very least make a backup of the app first.

if you want to delete a lot of apps i recomend you try out es file manager ( then root-mode then one tap uninstall ) you can multiple apps so its way faster than doing it one by one.

[APP][4.2+] Bento Launcher Alpha

Hey guys, I've been a longtime member of xda-developers and I've been working on this app for the past few months with a team. I'd love to get your feedback on it.
Bento is an intelligent android launcher with a personalized stream of cards (similar to Google now, but we think its better) http://www.bentoapp.com/
Sign up for the beta here
Features:
Search including apps, contacts, play store, locations and Google
Ranked and organized notifications
Dock with recently used apps
Personalized Yelp, Uber, concert, Soundcloud and Youtube recommendations
Local weather card
Calendar card
and many more cards!
Signed up for the alpha. Will respond as soon as I can download.
Very nice idea. Reminds me of aviate launcher mixed with Google now launcher, but looks way awesomer. Signed for the alpha too. Very interested in this project

You're absolutely right. Also, Aviate has changed a lot since the acquisition by Yahoo. This project looks great.
Waiting for download link to appear
Signed up... Waiting for the alpha version.
We just launched our website and put up a blog post
We also launched version 0.3 today which includes the following changes:
- A YouTube Music card personalized to your music preferences
- A brand new on-boarding experience for new users
- A new Settings area to let you add, edit, and delete Saved Locations
- Major algorithmic improvements for the Contextual Apps card
- Bug fixes
-- Fix cards flashing when stream updates
-- Fix bug that allowed swiping card to left
-- Fix for swiping away of cards when scrolling vertically
-- Fixes for Notification card syncing and ranking
If you signed up for the alpha but for some reason never got in please PM me.
Signed up to test it out
Signed up for Beta, however says it is not on Play Store as of yet. Got an APK we can download by chance?

Can you try going here http://www.bentoapp.com/ and clicking join the beta? We've changed the sign up a bit. You should be able to immediately access the beta google group from there. Once you've joined the google group, you should see a link to the beta. Let me know if this doesn't work for you.
There is no link shows up for me also. Just a blank Group Page.
Blank group for me as well. Also tried to use desktop mode. Brings me to the welcome message in the group with a playstore link. Playstore link does not work.
Download link not working
Download link after joining beta from your website is not working.
edit: Works after manually copying and pasting link!
can't download from play store, item not found
edit: downloaded, some playstore or phone bug
Looks promising.
Signed up but it's just an empty Google groups page. Um, what do I do?

Same here.

We're really sorry about the blank google groups page. This is the link to download the app. https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.bento.launcher . There have been multiple issues with the way play store beta membership groups work and we have tried to fix all of the issues.
If clicking on the above link takes you to a page that says "App doesn't exist" or "Page not found", you could try a few things:
Please wait a few minutes and open the link again.
Ensure that the default account you used to sign into your browser is the same as used to sign up for the Bento Beta Google group.
Ensure that your play store account is using the same email you used to sign up for the Bento Beta Google group
If all else fails, please email [email protected]
Joined beta group from site without at hitch, got from Play, installed and ran. Playing with this, looks quite interesting. Later, google+ did not have me in the "community" so requested that as well.
First and second reactions:
1. Intriguing concept. Looks like it belongs in Ubuntu.
2. Weather card should be location-based (maybe it is). Default units should be locale based. How to set up?
3. To facilitate testing, might be better as a launcher overlay rather than a full launcher. But it is very easy to switch homes from settings (was not always the case). Actually, it will run as an app except that the app-drawer or screen from which it is run remains visible behind the app folders.
4. App runs as app from app-drawer or folder. Runs (and labeled as) Bento Settings from Bento's app drawer. So found how to get my Celcius and km. Cannot place Bento Settings on the folders.
5. A refresh (or "more") button on cards pane might be in order. Can be mostly blank for long periods of time.
6. Got a "tomorrow" card. Never got "today."
7. Quickly learned how to arrange the folders, add, remove apps. More-or-less just like current stock launchers.
8. Like it or not, we are still part of the Google universe (though Cyanogen/Microsoft and Rational would like to change that). So normal calendar, maps, google+ will be around and should fit in. Google Now should also fit into this scheme.
9. Problem on my ArmV6 dinosaur: Cannot use Google's off-line speech recognition which will crash. I get text into Google Now using a voice search wrapper widget which links with older VoiceSearch on-line recognition (that app also did phone searches like Bento!). Voice input to keyboards, most apps crashes. There is a settings->language&input->voice-recognition choice which should be polled and respected. When Bento has more traction, might persuade the wrapper's dev to do a version that feeds Bento's searchbox intent.
10. The thing has no clock. On other launchers I use chronus so took the clock off status bar. Bento runs immersive mode anyway. (Another reason this is more and app than a launcher.)
11. Getting typed text into search bar is problematic sometimes. KB comes up but does not enter.
More to come ...
