Hi,
I have a question and I am hoping you can help me solve it. I purchased a Galaxy S Blaze 4G for my wife. I downloaded the "hide it pro" app from the google store for this phone. Before all this, I have performed a factory reset. I have an 8GB microSD card installed in the device as well. I have never had a problem with installing the app, transferring of personal files which are mostly videos, until this phone. I used to have a Mytouch and had no problems, and I now have an HTC ONE which I definitely dont have any problems. So I'm thinking it may be the phone. (Galaxy S Blaze) With multiple attempts, I have downloaded the app, have gone into the settings and tried even to move the app to the SD card, after I tried transferring less than 2GB worth of files to the app which was about 20/24 files, I would try to go back into the gallery and the phone indicates that "not enough memory, please delete some items." Again, I have never had a problem with this. Can you please help? It seems as though it is saving it to the actual device, instead of the memory card where it originally was to be transfered from to the actual App. Before I started doing anything, the "System storage was 83.25/1.12GB, USB storage was 0.0/1.40GB, and SD card showed 222MB/7.39GB. After installing the app and trying to transfer the files, i went back into the Task Manager/Storage and it now showed that the USB storage was maxed out at 1.40/1.40GB and SD card showed 222/7.39GB still. What do I have to do? The app also worked fine on her old Galaxy SII before she broke the screen. Thats the only reason I purchased this for her. She loves Samsung products, just couldnt afford the S4. Can you gimme some hints on how to resolve?
Sincerely,

Which os are you running? If you are on stock ICS your SD card is located at /sdcard/external_sd. If you are on cm10 or 10.2 the 8gb card is located at /external_sd or /storage/sdcard1

I recently bought my wife an Infuse, and have noticed a strange effect. A few apps will vanish after a reboot. I can reinstall them, but they will again vanish leaving only a blank icon, and a search of the apps list on the phone shows they are gone. I did a forum search before this post and did find something on vanishing icons but not whole apps. I use a Dell Streak so have some Android experience but this is weird. Maybe I need to reformat the internal card? Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks.
I've had that happen a couple of times; however, after waiting the app generally reappears. If you're having an issue with the apps actually being uninstalled... Dunno.
Are you running a custom rom? Stock? Rooted? Auto-Delete-My-Apps program? =P
I faced this issue when I backed up on Inspire and restored on Infuse. But well, learnt the hard way. I installed them again from market, and this time they persisted.
I didn't even have a blank icon then -- they just vanished leaving no trace.

You are brave. I wouldn't attempt to restore a backup from a diff phone, regardless of OS. Was it intentional?
sometimes this happens because the apps are installed on the sd card which finishes loading after the phone checks for apps.
meaning the apps suddenly disappear since it can't find them because it can't find the sd card.
you have to install them onto the internal memory manually. The phone seems to default to installing them onto the sd card too
Rooted but otherwise stock. I guess I'm looking at a trip back to ATT.
I moved everything off the SD card, removed it, and haven't had this problem since.

I'm shocked that you only have as many thanks as you do when you look at your post count. Most posts I've seen of yours are helpful. Thanks for this info.

Thanks for your response. So it sounds as though I should remove the external SD card before installing any apps to make sure they go on the phone. Then I can reinstall the SD. Is that what you are suggesting? Thanks

Let me accept it, Yes. It was intentional. I did the same from Captivate to Inspire too. I love playing with my toys
And well, this time I had to reflash the ROM again

Basically.
Or transfer them afterwards.

Thanks for your help. I'll give this method a try tonight.
Tried reinstalling the apps then moving them to phone and it seems to work. None of the apps vanished after several hours and several reboots. Hope this solution helps someone else with the same problem! The only thing I'm still wondering is why others haven't posted the same issue? Could I have something wrong with the phone still?
I think the included SD card just sucks.
It's only 2 GB anyway... Not missing much without it now that my music is in the cloud.

This happened to me the other day when I plugged in my phone to transfer some files to the SD card. The apps went missing. Then when I unplugged the usb cable, the apps reappeared.
Thanks for this thread!
I thought I had a buggy phone because of what was happening. I was kind of wondering if it had to do with the muiltiple SD cards. I uninstalled everything from my 2GB and took it out. Reinstalling everything to the internal.
Thanks again!

Do u have any apps installed on ur SD card?
I am having this issue currently as well and it seems that the device is also not showing my external cards contents. I have a 16gb card with tons of files and music on it (no apps installed to it) and the device isn't showing more then half the content.
I am also missing apps I had installed like Titanium Backup that I used to install my apps. It even removed addon apps like Animation Package for Beautiful Widgets.
Hi after having to switch my phone off, when I turned it on again it appears that all the apps I moved to the SD card are no longer there. I have just spent some time downloading them from the market again.
Question is why has this happened and how do I stop it from happening again
Thanks in advance
Solution
Hi Nexus.
I think you'll find that the apps still exist, they're just fragmented on the SD
card. This has happened to me plenty of times.
I've found it's only apps that are installed on the SD card and it's never
happened with apps on the phone's internal ROM.
A good way to check is to go into: Settings- Applications- Manage applications-
then tap the SD card tab. That list shows all of your apps installed on the SD
card. I found that when apps here got fragmented/corrupt they didn't show their
original app icon. Instead they showed the stock android app icon. This is a good
way to tell if the missing apps in question are still there but are just fragmented.
The way to solve this, the way that's worked for me, is to plug the phone into a
pc and mount the SD card as a disk. Then on the PC access the SD card via
explorer and right click- properties- tools- then click de-fragment.
This may take up to 30 mins as it's not as fast as a HDD.
From using this technique my apps have always returned and I can use them
with no problems again.
I've also noticed that this issue only happens if I restart or turn the phone off. I
don't understand what is corrupting the apps as the SD card is mounted
correctly and is the one supplied as standard.
I hope I've helped, and I guess this will save you from re-downloading all of your
apps again.
I'm happy to hear anyone's thoughts/suggestions onto why this is actually
happening in the first place too.
Cheers, Dms
Hi thanks so much for the answer. This has been bugging me for ages and even though I have been searching I have not had any joy solving it until your reply.
As you said it only seems to happen to apps on the sd card, and I would like to know why they are not "persistent" There must be a developer who understands the Android system who can explain why this happens and what you can do to make apps you have on your sd card permanent.
As you said it only happens to me when I re start my phone.
Thanks again for the answer
Hi. It's no problem. Yes I havn't seen anything about this issue being mentioned either.
I'd like to know what's causing it. Whether it's a hardware fault or something in the software.
It's a real pain having to hook it up to my pc to sort it out. Especially when I'm away from a pc, I can't use half of my apps.

This morning I fired up my mVideoPlayer, looking to turn on some videos to listen to while working. It froze to the point where the phone locked, so I rebooted.
When I did, suddenly there was nothing accessible on my SD Card. Root Explorer shows /sdcard/external_sd is blank (it certainly shouldn't be, but I can't figure out what has been removed).
My internal memory is fine, though I have another issue that may be related to the video files themselves (audio de-sync, gets worse as the file plays) rather than the software.
I'm not at a computer where I can check to see if everything is actually ok, but when I go to Settings > Storage the SD card is not shown and is not available to mount... That is undoubtedly the root of this issue, but does anyone know what I can do to fix it? Has anyone else had this happen?
Running Embryo 3.2, if anyone needs to know that.
Just switch to a different rom. Or go under recovery and see if its all their.

I plugged the memory card into an adapter and plugged it into my PC. It prompted me to format it.
Just as well. I just bought a 32GB card for the phone, and there wasn't much on the card to begin with. Just need to re-do my TiBu backups.
Hi xda guys/gals,
Recently I got a Samsung 64gb microSD to use with my Sensation, formatted it and everything, copied over the data from my previous card (32gb) and it seemed to work until I started putting music on it.
Whenever I try to add anything to the card, it'll look as though it's there, but when I remove the cable, the files are just gone, as if they'd never existed. The same thing started happening with other files, like pictures and such. The ones that my phone will easily access on my 32gb card seem to not be there on the 64gb card.
I've reformatted multiple times, and still the problem persists.
One thing I've tried is to put music in already existing folders. That made it "work", but the songs weren't tagged, were unplayable and apparently had 0kb.
I read a thread somewhere on here about someone with a similar problem (different phone, I believe, though I can't quite remember) but nothing seemed to have come out of it.
I can live with a 32gb card but I got a 64gb specifically for music (you audiophiles out there will understand). Is there any way for this to be remedied, or am I just kind of screwed?
Thanks.
What did you used to format it, PC or phone? Try doing it with phone if you haven't. Also, try to remove it from phone and to transfer files using some card reader.

I formatted using 4ext recovery, and I have tested it with a usb card reader; still doesn't work.
When you boot 4ext have you got an error message about "no mounted sdcard"???
I was wondering if anyone has any ideas or can point me in the right direction to solve this. Yesterday I started getting messages that the apps that were installed on my sd card stopped working...........then the gallery was gone (all my pics) now there's a message in the corner that says Blank SD card......(card is bland or has unsupported filesystem) do you want to format...........I've tried taking the card out and plugging into a PC however it says its a read-only. I don't want to format, is there any way to get all my pics and data back
any help is appreciated

Unfortunately this is mostly a lost cause. This is a known issue on the Galaxy S3, and I've heard a couple of other phones as well, including the Note 2. I've had this happen THREE times on my phone, to the point that I just don't even use an SD card anymore.
From what I've read the brand and size of the SD card doesn't make a difference.
You may be able to recover some of your pics and other files by using file recovery software on your computer. I used a program called Pandora Recovery, and while it spit out the files using different random names, at least I got a majority of my pics back (I had over 1000 on the card).
Beyond that there is no way to recover the data on the card. Once you try recovery software, you'll have to let your phone format the card if you want to use it again. Even Windows won't read the data from the card in it's current state.
Thank you for your help........im going to give Pandora a try and see what happens. I did hear about a program called DiskDigger Pro........so wish me luck..........I wish I was more pro active in reconizing the signs but it just happened out of no where

I believe you should able to cause it happened to me a few times and I able to recover all my stuff (videos, photos). The trick is find a good SDcard recovery software.
This may or may not help, but it's worth a shot.......http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=367912&page=2
This problem is why I will not be buying Samsung phones again. It is BS that I can't even use my 32GB SD card because it will eventually fail I will lose everything on it. It has happened twice in 7 months with the phone already.

disk digger worked great for me except for the occasional corrupt. You have to format first.
Thanks a lot for sharing information about other products. However, while scanning the corrupt SD card encountering error messages and unable to recover entire data. In order to overcome such problems, use Remo Recover tool to restore data from corrupt or formatted SD card.
Just wanted to let you guys know that my old SD cards got corrupted because I tried to configure the metadata of my songs through such apps like player pro and etc. I have a 64gb right now and its been working fine for over a year because I just manually configure everything when I connect it to my computer.
