[ROM][15/12/2013] LAVA iris 501 / Prestigio Multiphone 5000 DUO (MT6577) ICS - V2

Hello everyone!
This is the first custom ROM for LAVA iris 501 based on stock kernel. In this thread you'll find all my custom ROM for LAVA iris 501 / Prestigio Multiphone 5000 DUO (MT6577). Please be sure to read this carefully in order to avoid unnecessary questions.
Do not mirror my files, as I will always make sure links are working. Instead, please share the link to this thread.
V2 Update:
My main goal with this update is to share a ROM with improved battery efficiency and stability. Also, I pretend to share some of my ROMs which are supposed to be pretty stable and thoroughly tested. So, here you won't find state-of-the-art and feature-rich builds (like MIUI or LEWA), but builds which are more stock and patched with (or without) everything possible to make it more efficient.
Details:
· Based on official Android 4.0.4 ROM (LAVA release: LAVA_IRIS501_S105_20121219; Stock kernel)
· Kernel 3.0.13
· Removed all trial applications and gapps which can be downloaded from Play Store
· Changed boot animation
· Replaced camera app with stock ICS camera
· Fixed mms app (Sender photo issue)
· Enabled MediaTek EPO and A-GPS settings under Location services menu
· Enabled Speech category (Voice search and TTS output) under Language & input menu
· Fixed the bug related to the association of caller identification (CID) with contacts, due to country code prefixes
· Integrated the latest version of Google apps (101 error and 902 error resolved)
· Added FreeSpace and SuperUser
· Rooted (no need to root phone with third party applications) with SuperUser application (v3.1.3) and su binary (v3.1.1)
· Busybox (v1.20.2) installed
· Updated APN list (apns-conf.xml)
· Added AdFree hosts to system hosts file
· Added stock ICS LatinIME and dictionary pack
· Added some build.prop tweaks to improve pictures and video quality, increase touch responsiveness and improve battery life
· Updated Google Play Store (v3.10.14)
· Updated YouTube (v4.3.9)
· Updated TZ data (Time zone data)

How to flash V2:
· Simply place the zip file in the root directory of the SD Card and install via CWM recovery. No need to manually wipe data as it will be automatically cleared by the ROM.

You have done an outstanding work by this mod. Still there is unlimited scope further. Try porting some JB. Camera is unsatisfying. would like to revert back to stock cam.Battery life has increased 20/25%. Ring volume has decreased. UC browser unable to start(its lite edition works).Boot animation is awsome. Free ram has increased.

UC browser is working fine for me. Even the HD one is working perfectly. And yes i have slightly decreased the UI sound. Ring volume is same as before. Even camera is also the same stock camera but with different icon.
Porting jelly bean is only possible if we have JB kernel for our device. I tried MIUI rom (ICS based) on iris 501. Its was working fine but had some issues that is the reason i haven't uploaded it here..

You are the only hope to improve this amazing phone. Eagerly awaiting your next amendment/update.

Y do u want to root your device? There is no custom ROM available for iris 454. And stock kernel does not support over clocking. Rooting is of no use!

There is no problem with keyboard. There might be some problem with your device.

There is no link for stock ROM. Lava does not even provide driver. And u expect the link for stock ROM? :silly:
This ROM is also stock with minimal changes and few bug fixes. Or you can say its a bug free stock ROM

[KERNEL] Jelly Bean kernel for LAVA iris 501
Hey, here is a Jelly Bean kernel for LAVA iris 501. I tried it MMX A110 and ZTE Grand X ROM. And i was able to successfully boot into the device. There was problem with RIL (mobile network), WiFi, BT and Camera. But over all responsiveness of device was great. If anyone would like to develop his own JB ROM, he can get the kernel from HERE . .

Follow only the first post. Don't flash cwm recovery. That is not for your device.

Im prepring custom rom for lava based on ics... with many mods powe menu, extended settings... framework changes not dat uot see ma sig for prev roms... i want ur permission for posting... i used ur rom because its fully stock... easy for me to countinue....

So ahead. But instead of modifying this stock ROM, i would suggest u to port Jelly Bean. I have already posted the working kernel. U only need to find drivers for BT and WiFi.
And another help i need is that i want to increase the size of system partition. Find out a tool which will work for iris 501. System partition size is of around 460 MB. And i want to extend it to about 520 - 540 MB. I have a working JB ROM but i am not able to flash it because of small partition size. So find out a way to increase the size of partition and then our device will also run on Jelly Bean :good:

Bug update: double tap to wake doesn't respond well or this is not yet fully implemented? I tried to tap many times and screen turns on, music app do not close you have to force close it to remove it from status bar. and the AudioFx not working properly.

Being owner of an Mediatek device, means (most of the times) not having the sourcecode published by the Official vendor.
Wiko Never published an proper JB 3.4.5 Kernel Source Code (they only gave us incompleted, and unbuildable sources).
Plus, they never updated this phone (to KK) as promised ...

Requirements / How to Install / Downloads
Requirements:
- Make an FULL Backup of your Phone, Everything will be WIPED
- Please Backup your IMEIs via MTKDroidTools and via CarlivTouchRecovery (CTR) <-- Just in case ...
- Download the Modified Stock WIKO JellyBean Rom , this step is mandatory, since you really need to be on stock Base, and without (your) personal modifications.
- Plus it really needs an fresh instalation ...
This modified Stock Wiko Rom, includes Custom Recovery and modified Partitions (needed by KK )
This is done via SPFlashTools (included), and make sure you have the MTK65xx USB drivers installed.
After successfully flashing the Modified Stock Rom, let it boot up (first boot),
Now, put the KitKatRom.zip on your EXTERNAL SD Card.
Turn Off the phone, and boot to the recovery.

I actually know, where that is coming from ... i'll assume you don't own the wiko DarkMoon, but one of his clones?
Thats related with the modem / region... nothing to worry about, thats why i wrote that little note about the modem thing in the OP
Just go to settings>Date & Time and "Untick" the Automatic Time Zone
Them tell me how that works for you ...

When this error occurs the network is suddenly stopped and scanning once again..

It's powered by mt6585m (don't exactly know if it is same chipset as non-m 6582) and it is with 4.4.2 OS stock firmware. There are some parts of available sources for it, so it can be helpful. If any of devs will be interested, let me know. By the way, other specs are 1.3ghz clock, GSM-wcdma baseband, 1gb ram, 4gb overall rom, dual sim, 8mpix rear cam, 2mpix frontal, no m-sensor and no gyroscope (accelerometer presents). Also, in Russian development forum there are a lot of firmwares ported : aosp 4.4.4, flame os (not flyme), miui v5 and miui v6 beta, lewa os and some others.
Upd: as I knew , my device has LOWER screen resolution, so obviously some resources will not be the same

But, there's a single problem. The IMEI gets set to NULL after flashing this ROM. I had made a backup of IMEI before flashing and so I faced no problem. But, you must add this to OP that "first make the backup of IMEI using MobileUncle Tools"

I wrote MT65XX because it can be cross-ported for every mt65xx device running on STOCK KitKat kernel (3.4.67) or Stock LP kernel (3.10.xx).
You need proper CM12.1 base for crossporting it for your device.

The rom is really wonderful and it works great on my mmx a102 . But it has a little problem with the camera , when I try to video with the stock camera of the rom it crashes and say "can't connect to the camera" . This is not a big issue but pls try to solve it .

But in the end i reverted back to the stock because of unsupported jio services.

1. Dailer not working
2 something is wrong with camera(not focusing, image not clear, can't take photos in no light room with flash)

There will be call log also not listening in Dialer app and new contact is not saving and gives error like "no app available for this action"
if we direct flash Gapps after ROM installation........
Here I did some tricks to resolve this bug and now my phone has not any bug...
Install ROM zip file as per guidelines of main thread but reboot before flash Gapps....and...do below steps
Replace System/private app/Dialer, CallLogBackup, Contacts, ContactsProvider apk from M version (6.0.1)
And again reboot open once Dialer and contact app reboot again
Then again into TWRP recovery and install Gapps.... Choose Aroma For Gapps.
But make sure to do not select Stock Dialer uninstall options from Gapps menu....
Also make sure to untick Stock camera option from Gapps installation to get Google Camera.......
