4.3 Visual Voicemail - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Themes and Apps

Here is the new Visual Voicemail app from the 4.3 HTC One system dump. Is there any way to get this working on CM10.2?

Thats very strange, because it uses the same file name as the previous versions of the VVM app and same icon.

Can you make this an apk file?

New Voicemail APK / Delete first post?
Two things:
1. Any luck on a new visual voicemail package? The current one that works here resets every time I update my phone's ROM, making it useless unless I save all voicemails as soon as I get them! LOL!
2. Can we delete the first post, being that it's not a real voicemail program? That could really hurt a lot of newbies on the forum trying to flash something.
Hoppingfully yours,
--SLN

Another version.
I pulled this from my Carbon 4.4.2 install. I don't remember what rom I got it from originally or how many times it's been updated since but I restore this from TB on every build I install and it works. I have not installed it fresh, but can't imagine why it would not be good to go.
version: T5.3.4.32

Wow! Thank you! This works properly and unlike the other posts does not magickally disappear with every ROM update.
I'm just amazed how this is the *only* one any one has posted yet that works well with 4.4.2. You would think everybody would need visual voicemail!

Wurd. [emoji102] I blocked the 9016 with a call block and set notifications off so I don't see em. I use root call blocker pro but would probably work just as good with built in call and sms blocker that's in many Aosp & CM roms..

[FIX] This fixes the Market running stock or a custom rom

I thought I would post this to make it easier to find as it was buried in the gummy charge thread.
Basically, after you get up and running with gummy charge 1.5 or other roms, you may notice the market will be missing apps and you will have a problem downloading a few too. To check to see if your market is working correctly do a search for MLB at bat... if you can't see those apps then you need this fix. The fix is listed below. The fix edits a few lines of code in your build.prop file which gives you all apps in the market no matter what rom you are using. Its completely harmless and will fix issues you are having
1. Download fix.apk from the URL below
2. Install the fix.apk
3. Go into your app drawer and find the app called 'market fixer' and open it. Then select fix.
4. Approve root request
5. Reboot within the market fix app
You should now have all apps in the market and your market downloads should work

It sounds like you may not have followed my instructions in the original post.
You must install the fix. Apk
You must then immediately find the app in your app drawer called market fixer and open it
You must choose the fix button then accept root request
Then you must reboot within the market fix app

This fix doesn't work without rooting and I am not prepared to do that. Is there a fix without having to root?

Inverted/Transparent MotoMms

Here are my themed Inverted and transparent MotoMms. You must be rooted and have an unlocked bootloader to flash the zip. I would suggest going into your system/app folder and saving your MotoMms and the odex file some place else before flashing mine, just in case. Once that is done then make sure you are in WP bypass mode and flash away, enjoy! You can also go into your system/app folder and change the MotoMms.apk to MotoMms.apk.bak and the leave the odex file alone, then flash the zip once in WR bypass mode, let me know if you have any problems sometimes it takes a few tries.
**Note** some of my text is blue, yours will be all white!
This is the original odex version of MotoMms.apk, so if your not running that specific Mms then it may do nothing for you.
Hit the thanks button if you like or use!

I shouldnt reply to anything this early. Lemme back up my mms and ill try it.
@camblue flashing didnt work for me either. Ill try manually replacing the apk.
I guess it didn't work because the Moto X (at least mine) doesn't use MotoMms.apk.
Yeah this will only work for those running the MotoMms.apk,,,try to rename JUST the MotoMms.apk to MotoMms.apk.bak and leave the odex file alone. Then flash mine. Make sure your system is in write bypass mode then go into recovery and flash. Let me know if you have any problems. Sometimes it takes a few tries.

I'm unlocked and rooted on the latest TMO build. Removing the existing Mms.apk, replacing it with yours, setting the permissions, then rebooting does nothing. What build did you build this from?
Sent from my Moto X.
I am using the apk from the droid mini. Did you use pwnmymoto to gain root access? Also I assume your running safestraps to get into recovery? If your system does not use the actual MotoMms.apk then I am not sure if it will work for you. Make sure before you flash the zip you check the pwnmymoto apk and see if it says "device rooted",,,, if it says anything else like "boot into WR bypass mode" you dont have write access to the protected partition so flashing will do nothing.

[WIP] Dark CM Messaging App for 4.4 (NO ROOT NEEDED)

So, I updated to kit kat, only to discover that with the new "Default SMS app" feature, you can't just use old SMS apps. Well, I don't really like using Hangouts as my SMS app, and the stock Mms app lacks quite a few features i really like from CM's Mms app. Plus, I really like dark themes.
Well, of course I simply tried to go ahead and use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1745830 , but because that doesn't include the new information, it isn't seen as a possible "Default SMS" app, and can't be used. Well, I wasn't okay with this...
Dug into apktool and messed around in the AndroidManifest.xml, added the appropriate bits and pieces for it to be discovered by 4.4, and recompiled, and then signed. Voila, I have a working, dark themed, CM version of 4.3 Mms, with popups and all. I've tested that both sending and receiving of sms (in app and from popup) and mms all work.
If people are interested, I can post it up for download. Not sure about all the rules though. I assume I'd have to ask for permission from the OP of that thread I linked above?
EDIT:
Okay, so I've got the 4.3 CM messaging app linked from above. I've updated it to work with 4.4 (allowing it to be a "default SMS app") and also went and modified all the smali and xml with a new package name and a couple new authority/provider names to avoid conflict with the stock app.
Final takeaway: a themed, customizable (see settings), popup-enabled, emoji-supporting 4.3 messaging app that not only works on 4.4, but can be installed without root alongside your stock Mms app. Should work on 4.2 and up, on any variant, rooted or unrooted. Simply download, install with adb or by transfering it to the phone and opening on there, and then go to settings->More->Default SMS app and enable this one (the dark icon "Messaging" one).
I tested sending and receiving sms and mms, sms both from app and popup. everything was working fine. If anyone finds an issue just let me know and provide log cat output if you can, or at least a repro case
EDIT2:
Apparently there are still some kinks I need to work out. Will try to look into it this weekend.
EDIT3:
Okay so I did the version that works on 4.4 for rooted users. This one only has the AndroidManifest edits, so there should be no issues with functionality. I've been using it for a bit now and haven't had any issues. The one labeled Mms.apk is for root users (Nothing about installing/using it requires root, but you have to uninstall the stock messaging app to put this one on). The one labeled Mms2.apk is the (currently kinda buggy) version for those without root. That one is still a work in progress.
That would b awesome if u could share , now would this only work if u r rooted?

I haven't tested, but it should work without root. You can install it just like a normal app, and it gets installed to /data/app. I suppose the concern here is getting rid of the old messaging app, which does require root. I'm pretty sure if you tried to install this alongside the stock app, it would complain about having the same package name. I'll test and let you know soon.
Go get this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.thinkleft.eightyeightsms.mms
It works great and has a dark theme option in the settings, the developer pulled the CM MMS app and made it an installable on KitKat and a few tweaks, feels just like the original CM MMS app and even has the quick reply popup option.

The blue drives me nuts now. I really like the monochromatic look of kit kat. I think I'll take this app and theme it the way I want it to look (replacing blues with grays). I'll post that and the 4.3 version I did for anyone that wants it (that one allows color customization directly from the app) later tonight probably

Can the op post up the MMS app you recompiled to work with 4.4?
Sent from my XT1060 using xda app-developers app
Okay, so theming the 4.4 one is a lot more involved than I expected. I did some initial theming with xml values, got all the text the way i wanted it, but there's a lot of images i'd have to edit to get rid of all the blue, and I don't really have time for it right now. I started to, then realized using Paint was a mistake, as all the transparency of the ones I'd edited was gone, which messed up the look. I'm sure I'll get around to it eventually, but for now I'm just going to use the 4.3 Mms I made work with 4.4. Here it is for anyone else that wants it. (Couldn't get attachment to work so here's a zippy share link): http://www58.zippyshare.com/v/36354844/file.html
For some unknown reason, I could not get it to install by cp to /system/app or /system/priv-app and doing chmod, so i made a keystore and signed it and have just been installing it with adb install. You have to uninstall your current stock Mms first though (requires root). I did that by renaming to .bak. I'll see what kind of work might be involved with changing the package name, which would let it be installed alongside the stock app. I tried installing it over the stock with "adb install -r -d Mms.apk", but it complains that it's signed with a different keystore than the currently installed one. If anyone knows how to get the default android keystore I could try signing it with that.
I like this version. I see nothing in the 4.4 Mms app that the 4.3 one does not also have to offer, plus this one has tons of customization, emoji support, etc etc. You can change all the colors of text and background straight from the menu. Until we've got something similar for 4.4 I'll stick to this.
I just noticed a little bug... I installed it on a 4.2.2 device and that device receives messages twice. No issues on 4.4 yet though... I'll look into it.
I got this to install fine, but when i try to send an MMS it FC's on me.

Bizarre... I just uninstalled mine, cleared all data from the stock app in case something was getting cached, and went and downloaded from the link and installed and it works fine for me still...
My setup:
Moto X 4.4 OTA with SlapMyMoto root (meaning 4.2.2 bootloader)
Xposed framework with XBlast and GravityBox
I also installed it on a rooted S4 running 4.2.2 and it worked, although it was receiving messages twice (figured out why, but haven't uploaded that update yet) and a "not responding" message when receiving MMS (though you could then go back into the thread and view it). I've not had any issues on the Moto X though.
I wouldn't imagine that anything in the app would need root, though I'm not gonna unroot to find out. Can you guys post some log cats and i'll look into it?
EDIT:
Just got the mms force close. I'm sure a side effect of blindly find/replacing com.android.mms in the smali. Soon I'll post a version that only has the 4.4 changes for those of you with root, and i'll keep working on the whole package name spoof for those without.

Google AOSP Email App

Is it possible to get this app running on our G3? I don't like the stock email app it doesn't handle contacts correctly with exchange.
I figured it out. I placed both files in System/App and gave them permission 0644. RW-R-R. Rebooted and Android upgraded and the Email was there.

I just switched to LG and don't like the stock email one bit.
Is that apk for the google stock email (yellow colored)? Sorry, I'm not familiar with AOSP, so idk if it's the same one or not.
Thanks!!
Yes it's yellow. The @ symbol on the LG stock email app is black outlined. On the aosp it's white. Hope this helps.

Thanks man!! I know I must have sounded stupid describing the yellow @ sign!! Actually the @ sign and the letter are both yellow. The envelope is open and the color is white (See attached picture). I'm just so used to using that email app on Samsungs!!
I read that the stock email app was available on the playstore, but I wasn't able to find it. I'm guessing I wasn't able to because I'm using the G3, idk!
I'm gonna follow the steps you posted about placing the files and tinkering with permissions. Looking forward to seeing it works.
Thanks again!
newer version
I have successfully installed the version above. The question is that this is the 6.2 version and my nexus 7 has 6.3 installed. I tried to copy those files to my g3 but the apk files were smaller with odex files. I just couldn't get it to run with or without the odex files . Any idea?

Hmmm... these new files have the same version numbers as in the first post. The play store shows 6.3 something as the latest version...

Interesting. Both titanium backup and "send feedback" option under the email app with the new APKs show 6.2-1227136 and not 6.3-1218562

Try these
Will anything nasty happen if I just install them as a normal app rather than a system app? I just clicked on the apk and installed like normal and it seemed to work fine, but wanted to make sure there weren't any unforeseen security issues.

Galaxy S5 Corporate Exchange Mod Email Security Bypass

It's just the stock email for 4.4.2 without the security requirement.
Been using it with my Fortune 10 company for a while now perfectly without security, I just use swipe on the lockscreen.
I also don't see why this wouldn't work with any other Touchwiz ROM using 4.4.2. Give it a shot.
1. You need root and Safestrap.
2. Remove current email apk and exchange apk first, with Titanium or another.
3. Flash zip in Safestrap.

Fixed in OP.
I flashed this to my 4.4.2 S4 with Insane KK v11 rom and it works great except it force closes when I try to go into the settings to adjust the sync frequency.
Are there any ideas on how to clear this issue or find another APK that works with 4.4.x?
Where are email.apk and exchange.apk files located? I've searched for them and can't find them. /system /app? Or could they be another file name on a Sprint s5.
Thanks.
