O.k guys this thread will based on video tutorials,so you ask how to make something and ill make a video on showing how to make it.
This is going to be fun and very useful for those trying to learn and even for those who know and have got stuck on some parts. =) O.k guys I do know a lot of other things besides just graphics like editing the .xml and stuff but this is mainly graphic photo shop work.

Thank you, bro....subscribed already. Great first tutorial. Thanks again!
How do you make a rom lol
Well these are going to be all graphic based, but once I am done getting my ubuntu setup I was thinking of making a few of those as well.
!!
Wow cool manup - I have always been impressed on your work, can you show us how to do icons, I have learned by my self, but your an expert
creating icons from scratch is harder work, now you can edit icons or take two and make it your own. ill do a video on this in a sec.

By the way, it loos like your using photoshop right?
make a tutorial about oc and uv ing (the steps involved) can't seem to figure it out
@frankzua77
Done check it the tutorial is up on my channel,I hope this is what you wanted.
Could you please make following tutorials: "how to edit notification text color" and "how to edit luncher2 appdraw selection"
Well the selection is more java code not really graphics at all and there is a colorchanger app that does that. And the white notification text is a statusbar.xml edit now the time on the bar Is in service.jar. I really dont mess with java at all,but the statusbar.xml I can prob do a guide but the program works better than spending time to hex edit. The progress bars as well is a .xml.
I think my next guide will be on adding guides and signing .9.png unless I get a request.
Bro and if you want a guide on editing that .xml ill do,but I wanted to stay more into the making themes and graphic part.
!!
Thanks BRO! you rock homie!
np bro! ill try to keep them coming.
Hi manup456,
I want to request a tutorial on how to optimize graphics (icons, wallpaper..etc) for devices like the nexus one.
For example, if you use PS and save an image the normal way (jpeg, png,...) it comes out quite large compared to the original. Then there are options for coloring, transparency... all that's stuff.
Anyway, If you could show me how to save icons so that they are displayed well and still have small size, that would be awesome.
thanks
If you can do a vid on editing the progress horizontal xml will be cool
How did you get the dots on the bottom of the launcher (that represent the different screens) to be as clean as they are in NexDeep? I am trying to port it over to the newer 7 screen Launcher found here, but having some issues getting them to look as nice.
Thanks.
@daveid
Well the dots on the modded launcher I made from scratch thats why there so clean.
@icegad
I can do this will be the first video I do tomorrow.
@duylong186
Well to optimize a icon in cs4 you would save for web and devices and use png-28 that will optimize the icon, but threre are also programs that can optimize a icon even more.
Oh and checkout my new video I posted tomorrow ill have a few more.

You know this is one I need to learn, would greatly appreciate a video for editing .9.png images!
I really didn't like that wooden calendar and it's colors, so I changed it a little bit.
There is only one color that I couldn't find. (picture number 2)
Special Thanks to biopsin for helping me to build this,
and thanks to cheatman for looking in to it.
If you want to try it, just download the zip file and flash it via recovery.
Does anyone know why I can't change those colors?
Hey guy,
I'm sorry but I can't help you. But i like your app. Please don't give up!

I'm trying, but I haven't found a way to edit that xml. I don't have any problem
with other xmls but this one... I don't know what's wrong.
Looks like some great work there mate. As for your odd xml file problem, I'm not sure there's much you can do. I've had problems like that with a couple of apk's and I've never found a reliable fix. Sorry
Decompile the apk using apktool or apkmanager .... n den edit the xml....n compile agn

Yeah, I've had this problem before with a framework.
Thats a nice theme. The wooden calendar wasnt really bad, but your theme makes it really nice!
I realy like your theme. The contacts.apk and the phone.apk are "woody ugly" too. Would you theme theese apps too?
Can you post your said XML alone as an attachment (the already modified and original)? I'd like to take a look at it.
As some resources (files in the /res folder) are shared between apps through the framework, changing anything shared might result in an inconsistency and FC the app.
A workaround might be to completely decompile the framework as a dependency and modify it there. It would result in a more dramatic change, but it would cross over to other apps such as the contacts, dialer and calendar simultaneously.
PS: this also applies to the browser, email app, contacts and so on, depending on what you change.

I've already woked on both of them, you can find them in Themes and Apps section.

So there are lots of things that should be checked.
I uploded the xml here. There are 3 colors in this xml and I can't change any of
them. The xml is in layout folder and there is another xml with the same name in
layout-land folder. I've tried working on this one as well but the result is the
same as the other one.
Anyway, thanks for looking in to it, mate.

Yes, i know that. They are nice but they don't look as good as the calendar (cause blue). Maybe you can change the colours to a few dark colours like your calendar (it's perfect for Meizu's Dark Theme)
What ever is come... thanks for your work

I see what I can do.
Ok, in the XML I can see you have three variations of brown/orange. Judging by the colors, I suspect this is the default XML, before editing it.
The colors are #ffbe801d, #ffede3c2 and #ff503200. What values are you trying to set instead of these? What I mean is, how EXACTLY are you replacing the actual text in the XML:
#ffbe801d becomes: ???
#ffede3c2 becomes: ???
#ff503200 becomes: ???
This is important as the color representation is not the basic HEX code encountered in regular web dev (for example). It's a 16-bit hex representation with alpha. The first two elements (ff) stand for 100% opacity.

Yeah, that's right, this is the default xml.
I edit the xml same as other xmls which I edit without any problem, I just open
the xml in a text file and change the value I want to edit and then I save it and
after that I compile it with Apk Manager.
I just want to change them to something like gray, for example I want to change
#ffbe801d to #ff787878 and #ffede3c2 to #ffbcbcbc. It dosen't matter if they
are not exactly these colors, like I said before I just want to make them gray
For the third one, I don't think it changes those two colors that I want to change.
Btw, thanks for helping.
Well, I've looked into it and I can:
1. Fully Decompile the APK. It doesn't need any shared resources from external packages.
2. Edit the XMLs accordingly. I have also seen that you were very thorough in your theme creation process.
It's all good apparently, however, I am unable to recompile everything back. The APK tool reports some missing resources. For some reason, there is a dependency that is not satisfied, although the package decompiles correctly (I have never seen a similar package before).
I'll have to scour some Google documentation before I'll come up with a relevant result, so it may take a while. I'm not gonna let it fly, though. The entire process should be plain smooth and must be doable anyway.
Hi
I have no issues bulding the calendar. If u send me your edited files i can try build it for you..also chech if apktool is up to date, using older ver. will hand out errors..
Edit
Tested these colors
#ffbe801d becomes: ff6090bf
#ffede3c2 becomes: ff9198b1
#ff503200 becomes: ff001d50
ref. : http://www.color-hex.com/
and it builded ok

I'm sorry for putting you throurgh all of this, it's not really a big deal, mate.
Hey Friends,
I've mixed up a theme with the classic Gingerbread Icons (exept the battery).
This theme is made on the base of the "Meizu Dark theme" from natious (you will see some colors and impressions of this)
so thanks a lot.
Sorry, the screenshots are a little crap
Update:
Now I use the Installation file from Meizu Dark with the most of natious themed apks. It shut be complett. My sugestion is replace the bootanimation with the "Particel ring" and flash the themed calendar.apk from sohrab1985. Looks great.
If you don't like the Battery, you can change it with the UOT Kitchen
New Version:
add providersettings.apk from meizu Dark
add calculator.apk from meizu Dark
add settings.apk
add swipe.apk from meizu Dark
add mms.apk from meizu Dark
add contacts.apk from meizu Dark
add a few fonts from meizu Dark
Download:
http://netload.in/dateiHEfqugMCfO/GreengerBlack1.1.zip.htm
Have fun and keep it simple
Please, tell me if there any problems.
look great... testing now.
great theme but i love blue on black or white on black ... but still great theme well done
Fab I like it a lot. This'll stay installed for a while. Any chance of sticking a percentage in the battery icon?!

Use UTO kitchen to change the battery. Just go to the page, make your choise and upload the systemUI.apk (root/system/app) and the framework-res.apk (root/system/framework). UTO Kitchen works not at every option but for change the Battery does it work.
my Tab fights with Kratos
This is a great theme, thanks a lot for sharing! But I have a quick question:
Is there is a very plain and basic 100% Stock Gingerbread Theme for KRATOS?... just the 100% stock mostly BLACK (which saves battery) along with orange highlights that comes straight from Google... nothing else or modified just stock, no more no less!
Thanks for the advice.

I can try it at the Weekend but I can not do any promise. If you have other wishes or suggestions, tell me. Maybe you like 6 Bottens in the quick setting bar for example.
Btw: I'm just a expirienced user so I have no special skills to do this. I also have no original GB Themed device so I don't know how the Stock theme looks exactly but I'll do my best.

Thank you very much for your reply. I am not sure which the Quick Settings button is that you refer but its OK, the only thing basically I would like is to strip out all customizations that Samsung and the KRATOS chef did, and have a lean and plain stock Gingerbread like Ive seen n most phones. Its a pure battery-saving theme with most screens using black background and highlighted items are orange. If you can look at a few standard phones with Gingerbread in it they will all look the same kind of like this. It is actually the most simple and cleanest interface.
Anyway, thank you VERY MUCH for your interest and effort and I look forward when you have time to try it and give you feedback. I know many other members and users of the galaxy tab would appreciate having a stock Android look on their machine that has been impossible because of the changes Samsung made to their ROMs.
Danke noch einmal
Icon Resource for theme..
Hi guys! Im making a theme for Kratos and am stuck. Can someone help and tell me WHERE the icon (below attached) that pops up on the task bar during Media Scanning, is hidden? I looked everywhere, all system APKs I can think of including framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk and cannot find it anywhere. Its driving me crazy!
Thanks in advance for the tip!

HELP with some elements
Its been a while I posted on this great thread and have since then done a lot of customization on my Tab but now stuck on 5 key elements id like to know if someone can help me:
1) How do I change the background color of the Phone App? On all 5 tabs of he phone app (Dialer, Logs, Contacts, Groups, Favorites + the outgoing dialing screen itself) the background is White. I want it changed to black but dont seem to locate the file. I was successful in changing the background color to black on the incoming call screen (the files are call_incoming_bg.png and call_incoming_bg_h.png on the phone.apk and just made them black and that's it)... looks super nice. But for the outgoing calls screen and phone app itself, its all still white and I dont know where to edit or if there is a PNG file that control the background.. I dont seem to know where it is (see attachments 1 & 2)
2) I wanted to change the Missed Call icon with a custom I made that I already and use on the top taskbar, that was very easy (its the stat_notify_missed_call.png in framework-res.apk). But the same icon that's displayed in the phone's Log tab I dont seem to locate where it is and to my surprise its NOT in the phone.apk. Can someone tell me where that file is? (see attachment 3)
3) I have managed to successfully tweak many of the elements of the notification pull down menu, like giving it transparency in certain parts on bottom and top, but I cant control color or transparency of the background of the ONGOING operations that have a fixed white background and that id like to change. (see attachment 3) Equally, Id like to change the color and some of the wordings of the WIFI, BLUETOOTH, GPS, SILENT, ORIENTATION LOCK functions. Where can I edit those?
4) Where can I edit the white background color of the pop-up Power-Off menu on the tab that is white (see attachment 5)? I edited the icons easily from the framework-res.apk but dont seem to know what controls the background color..
5) Finally, which files control the blues that usually are displayed in most dialog pop-ups and dialogues? I want to change them to black and grey but have no idea where they are located and which files I should edit.
When Im all done Ill post my theme for download, I think maybe some users might like to give it a try and feedback will be welcome wither way
In advance, thanks a lot for your expert advice on all this
need help have found multiple battery icons that i think would be an awesome addition to the awesome criskelo and king droid roms that i use as i am only familiar with the basics like rooting and flashing roms if any themer is willing to help i am uploading all the images i have found so far and will upload any additional ones that i find
more battery icons
uploading more battery icons if someone is willing to help make theme for me or at the very least explain how to mod current criskelo or king droid themes to include them
I like the fact that you thing this is easy, theming is really very complicated and hard to get done, its not just about replacing icons, yo need thousands of hours working on photosop, learn how to deconplie and compile apk's properly, working with hundreds of tiny little images till the puzzle is all done, and certainly not something that can be taught in afew post, so go google and learn by yourself, there is enought info out there

i never said nor did i imply that theming was easy i was just asking if someone could include these battery icons in a theme that is being made or has already been made for the roms that i use as it is out of my league at the present time if it was as simple as replacing icons i would have used an app for that i recognise the hard work that developers on here do and while i do apreciate it i dont think its wrong to ask for help or suggest someone use the icons that i have posted in their next theme
Hello All,
I like to the softkeys on the Sony Xperia Triflat design theme, but do not like the rest as much.
Is there a way to just modify the soft keys that they look like as at the launcher?
(Link to the theme https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=se.knowit.mobile.triflat)
Unfortunately I'm not experienced with programming and can not make this by myself.
Hope that someone you can help or guide me if there is already a modification like this.

Follow this guide. You will only need the system ui from triflat. Ignore the other three zip/apk.
