Farewell - Captivate General

I have moved on to another phone and I gave my captivate away. Goodbye. I will still help with Q&A though.

Well it's a good idea to keep it, just in case. I move to sgs3 and after two months I break the screen and now I'm again with my old capy.

[REQUEST] Motorola Triumph Forum

The Moto Triumph will be released here in the US on July 19th and a forum would be awesome. I started this topic over in the Android Hacking section without realizing that this was where it needed to be. About 5 of us over in the other section signed the petition. Hopefully we have more luck here. I predict a lot of themes and roms for this device will surface. It is thought to be a rebadged Huawei Ideos X6, so it might be easier to develop for than other Moto phones.

I second that motion!
We need to get more people to agree to this! Haha. This is going to be a great device for the market.

+1 to the triumph forum. I would love development. I don't think it'll be completely necessary, but always something I want with an Android phone.

I posted a link to this thread in the other topic. Let's get the ball rolling!

+1 from me. I'm going to hope this on sale at radioshack when it comes out. They usually do that. Fingers crossed....

Full hdmi mirroring, adreno 205, etc. Im excited.
Coming from a galaxy s, the screen type will be drastically different but paying 25 a month instead of 73 is worth it!
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Yes sir radio Shack will have it for sure. I'm already thinking of rooting this phone with super one click root lol
Definitely, need a section here. It's the first high end phone with Virgin Mobile and it will attract a lot of users.
I agree, please create a new forum section for the triumph.
I think the fact that when you search for this device on google, this thread comes up, will help us get our subforum. People are going to love messing with this phone.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
+1 I'll buy this phone as soon as I see it in stores. Would love to root it and mess around with it!
+1 I too would like too see this forum and Motorola Photon 4G as well.
Im sure the photon will be getting a subforum in due time. Im campaigning for the Triumph to get one because I do not want it to be overlooked because it is a prepaid device.

I have the money set aside to pick this bad boy up. I would love to see a community around such a device.
Ordered
I pre-ordered mine from Bestbuy, and ordered a Skinomi screen protector from Amazon.
I hope that best buy price matches.

This is the next phone I'll be getting, i hope the community really gets behind it.
Based on the response here, at HoFo and PrepaidAndroid- I can see this phone having a thriving community.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I'm keeping an eye on this phone. Rumor at HoFo was that Virgin was going up to $35 a month, but haven't seen any dates.
I really liked the Optimus V, and plan to move to Virgin sometime soon. A Triumph would be nice. Hopefully some 'slickdeals' happen on it soon.

Worth buying for $95 obo?

Spotted this deal on craigslist. Comes with a car and home charger for $95 obo. looks clean in the pics. Might be stolen though, so I'm not sure if it's worth it.
What's your take, guys?
Thank you!
Yeah. It sounds nice
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
from price point its a good deal as long as you could make sure ... everything works.
from xda point of view I guess this phone is among the few that got most attention from devs so there is a lot of custom FW available for this little phone.
out of curiosity ... why do you want to buy an older device?
I am sure you have your reasons ... but anyways ... just asking
It's for my lady she played with a galaxy s 4g in a t-mobile store and liked it. she still has a nokia 5800 lol haven't heard back from the person, so... found a galaxy s 4g for $75 lol waiting to hear back as well.
Xda gave the phone gingerbread but that is where it ends. No cm7 no miui. Truthfully, this phone is not getting the support.
Good news is that this phone is a great phone and at that price is worth it.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
thank you, guys! haven't heard back from the people... oh well, was good talking to you all
My girlfriend was running cm7 nightlies. It runs really well, pulls home fast data on i9000 roms. As long as you go custom rom, it's a pretty good phone

we have a thread in the sensation sub-forum about gs2 and a lot of people didn't want to get it because of the quality issues with their vibrants and galaxie's. is it really that bad?
try to get the ime of the phone and call att and ask them to verify the ime if someone just reported if it was stolen or lost.. I did that before I buy a cheap phone from craigslist.. just to be cautious

Thinking of getting one

Hi guys i just have a chance to get an infuse but i am still thinking about so i decided to ask for opinions in the best place there is related to android phones: xda.
So what can you tell me about ics and jelly bean? is the battery good or it sucks taking into account it will not have a new battery but a used one for about a year.
Any help will be really appreciated!!!
thx guys
I don't have the infuse any more but ICS was great on it. Battery would last me all day with 3 hours of screen time with usually 30%+ to spare when I went to bed. The only thing I didn't like about my infuse was the crappy gps. Would drop signal constantly and it would often take a while. The strange thing is that gps apps would take forever to acquire a signal but if I closed the navigation app and loaded gps test I'd get a signal within 5 seconds.
Infuse is awesome GPS is not crappy anymore that has been resolved. So if u can get it do.
The devs here are light years ahead of samsung itself.
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda app-developers app
If the phone works properly and you are paying a fair price, don't see how you could go wrong - you can buy another battery at some point.
Many great roms by extraordinary developers plus support from lots and lots of helpful, knowledgeable users.

There will be those who diagree with me and I understand why- for me I would be tempted to do it as I have a 10 inch Acer A500 that spends almost all it's time in the case- I use my laptop or my phone and am very pleased with my Infuse. Several have left the Infuse for SGS3 - I have an SGS3 and still enjoy using the Infuse about 25% of the time. As long as you are ok not having the 10in. screen, I hope you make the decision that you are happiest with.

i would do the change with you but you are a little far
yep, infuse is a great phone, i sold it for an htc...well lets just say i bought another infuse cause the htc vivid just didnt satisfy me the way the infuse does
You have countless roms to try...so if your a flashaholic...you’ll be in heaven
Tons of helpful people, a friendly community (with the exception of a troll or two every other month...)
i don’t know about other people...but i consider everyone in the infuse section like "family"...not literally but like a little forum family, like a no man left behind kinda group
moral of the story...unless you can get an sgs3 get the infuse!
Hey mg how bout lending a family member a few bucks lol....

If your doing it on a new 2 year contract. I'd say no. You could get something better. Like a HTC one x for $50, Refurbished Galaxy Note $50, sgs3 for $139. I'm waiting for Gnote 2 but if they want over $200 for it I may go with Gnote. Samsung Unpack starts today!
ICS and Jellybean seem to be working awesome here by the way. At least for me.

Bah!! When did the developers make the gps worth a damn? I sold it when I bought my s3.
Zeus 6 ROM had great GPS. And its snappy. I've used it on my vacations. Infuse isn't a bad phone but I'm thinking of upgrading to the Note 1. I think its a good decision coming from an Infuse. Half a gig ram more 1.5 ghz dual core a larger screen , longer battery life. Samsung adding jelly and butter. Also it'll get some of the Note 2 features sounds like a good investment for $50 bucks.

i havent looked to see if still available, but i got my infuse online with AT&T, refurbishd for 1 penny.
i would do that and keep your other stuff too.
came from I(blow)phone and dont ever look back.
where is that Note or $50 ???

But you would need an upgrade to get the penny deal...and I don't think he's using an upgrade...

The Note is for $50 at At&t web only deal refurbished with new contract. I originally wanted the Note 2 but I don't want to wait another 3 or more months to get it. I think they have a refurbed S2 for $39 too..not sure. If your thinking about it get before its banned. Its on Apples hit list.

I have an iPhone 4 now but I had the infuse and it was pretty awesome coming from a Mytouch 4g but I wouldn't get on contract with it...At all.
The battery life isn't that great, neither is gps and video chatting.
I've heard there's better android phones on the market if android is what you're looking for, searching around is best to make sure you buy a phone that's 100% you.
Check out the skyrocket too my ex boyfriend had one of those basically the same as the infuse but the think the battery life is better.

Help?!

I accidentally washed my husbands s3.. I of course never check his pants pockets before throwing his pants in the washer well sure enough he left his phone in his pocket... it went through the whole wash cycle. As soon as I found it I took the battery out (as well as the sim and SD card) and burried it in uncooked rice in a bowl with a lid on.. his phone was already dead so is there any hope at all?
Sent from my SCH-I535
Let it dry for a few days than charge up that battery and should be fine
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
Leave it in the rice for a few days pretty sure it'll at least end up working.

I wouldn't advise it. If there's any water in it when you turn it on it'll short the internals out. Better safe than sorry. Besides, if you rush it and fry the internals he'll be out of a phone for a few days til a replacement comes anyway.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
Well there wouldn't be a replacement we didn't get insurance and now I'm really kicking myself for that..
Sent from my SCH-I535
Well you can maybe now look for a galaxy nexus they go pretty cheap on nexus if you can't get a replacement or get the phone working.

Same thing happened to me with water damage. My USB port got screwed up but the phone still works. It charges but it won't connect to a PC anymore. I had just took the insurance off too!! I can't wait to get thegs4 now I'm counting the days
Sorry to hear about your trouble. Maybe sell it water damaged on eBay for about $150-200 and buy the s4 when it comes out. I think its going to be $550 off contract. No spare phone laying around?

I got a phone soaked using it in a rain storm and it took 2 days to operate properly sitting in rice.
You can look on Craigslist or Swappa for a cheap replacement to use in the meantime.

stripped down rebuild with clean Rom/Gunther/camblued modds!!!

Unfortunately

I am no longer the owner of a infuse, its somewhere at the bottom of the pacific, therefore I am gonna be more on the galaxy note 2 forums more, by far this is the best community and I will still come back and chat from time to time.
Good luck, enjoy your new phone!
