[GUIDE] Maintaining Your Canvas 2 Smartphone - Micromax A110

Hello Everyone, As we know, developing support for our Canvas 2 is increasing day-by-day and there are lots of Custom ROM’s and Kernels available. They bring lots of performance improvements and added features.
While Flashing ROM’s and doing modifications, it is important for everyone to know, how to keep our Canvas 2 in good health and in proper working condition. Keeping this in mind, here are my few tips and suggestions that I hope, will benefit everyone.
Preventing Data loss while installing any mod or ROM:
It is recommended to take Nandroid backup before you flash anything on your handset. If something goes wrong, you can always restore this backup, and prevent your data loss, instead of flashing whole ROM again and losing your apps and data.

Backing up your private data regularly to ensure it is up to date:
Always take a backup of Your private data (Messages, Contacts, Call Logs) using Titanium Backup or on PC, using software like Moborobo and WonderShare MobileGO.
All Contacts can be exported as a single .vcf file from Import/Export menu in Contacts app.
Also, You can use ‘Backup Data to XML’ option in Titanium Backup to seamlessly backup and restore Bookmarks, Call logs, Messages and Wi-Fi access points.

Everyday Use (Cleaning cache, Maintaining RAM, App Locking)
Using third party apps like Clean Master is a good idea to clean cache stored on device like browser cache, icon cache. Also, using lightweight launchers such as Nova, Disabling live wallpapers, helps to keep the consumption of RAM in control and prevent drain of battery.
App lockers, provide protection on per-app basis. You can even prevent uninstalling and Force Stopping of apps by enabling the app locker as Device Administrator if it supports this functionality.

Advanced Maintenance (Backing up IMEI, Using Swapper)
Back up your IMEI using MobileUncle MTK Tools app. It will create a file named ‘IMEI.bak’ on your SD Card for restoring later in case it is lost. If the Kernel supports, you can use swap to increase the RAM. Download Swapper or Swapper 2 from play store and set the necessary size of swap file. Keep in mind that excessive use of swap degrades the life of SD card. It is recommended to use a SD card with Class 6 or above to avoid performance issues.

A Good Share
Thanks for sharing this info Bro,
I am sure we all have our own invented ways of maintaining our phones so I do hope that we all will continue updating this thread on a regular basis with our valuable & working inputs
With regards to maintaining our phone, I always keep it on Airplane mode instead of turning it off once I am in the office coz Camera Phones are not allowed in my office, now by doing this I save a bit of battery which is consumed in rebooting the phone

Yes, You are right! Airplane mode does save a lot of battery! I also use it whenever i'm in No Coverage area or travelling.
Rebooting each and every time takes a significant toll on battery. Keeping the phone on Flight mode is generally a wise choice.

Using scripts to increase ram and making swap file in cache partition has got much more advantages than swapper.
AND SWAPPER 2.. DON'T USE THAT.

Yes, I'm beginning to wonder myself. Because Swapper 2 caused my handset to reboot thrice and SD card became unstable. Also there were more lags when using swapfile on SD card. Would you like me to update this in OP? Or discuss here?

Lag issue.
Hey Guys,
After reading many posts, and trying myself, I found that using Xposed Framework makes our device a bit slow to perform and laggy.
Certain slow-downs occur after applying a xtheme.
Can anyone comment on that?

it does

Incredible "must have" apps to get memory back.

FIRST: A WARNING
These apps require the phone to be rooted to be able to reach their full potential. And as they give you complete control over what to do, it's easy to get your ChaCha f****d up. So a backup with CWM Recovery is highly recommended.
We all know that the internal memory of the Chacha is low, and we are always struggling to have it controlled. Custom roms can make that memory to be really low when just installed, but continued use and trying apps make the memory to be filled with many files that are still there, even when you delete the app and the data associated to that app.
Many people likes to once a month or two, delete data and cache and start again, but for many of us, that's not an option because of the level of customization we have and must be repeated every time that operation it's done.
Enter these three apps, that well used can make you lower the used memory. They allows you to do a mix of regular manteinance and 'once in a while' operations.
AppCache Cleaner Makes easy to clear every day the cache files used by many apps like Market, Maps, Shazam!, and many others. Those cache files are secure and safe to be deleted. The app is easy to be set up and more easy to use. Also, an automatic clean every N time can be set.
SD Maid - System cleaning tool Makes the work of the previous app but with added functionalities, aimed to a less regular manteinance and deep clean. It can find corpses: data files of uninstalled apps that are there wasting space and many other things like log files, duplicated files... that are there making your ChaCha life harder. Some attention is required here because some operations, it not rightly done, can make you have a bad time because of deleting files you wanted not to delete, or that are essential files for your apps or system to run.
SystemCleanup This app is the most powerful of all and also the most dangerous. It has many of the features of the paid version of Titanium Backup, but for free. You can move apps from /system to /data, from /data to /system, odex and deodex them, move from/to sdcard, edit the autorun events they receive, freeze them, make backups... You can get rid of many of the bloatware the ChaCha comes with, and also decide what to do with those apps. The app itself give you directions on some apps that are safe to remove of required not to remove, but you are free to do what you want to with it, so attention must be put on what to do when using it.
I my self was able to remove about 60MB of useless stuff and the free memory jumped to a whopping 92MB of free memory after using them.
Take a look and have luck.
Titanium Backup ★ root - it allows You to "integrate app update to ROM" and save space in user storage.
Also it allows you to remove unused app from ROM and move "integrate" some aplications to ROM.
Most important would be app for recording Calls (both side), do Enyone know that software?

[GUIDE] Ways To Speed Up Your Device

Are you tired of the fact that your device is lagging a lot when switching between screens or in gaming ??? Here is a little guide to speed up your device in most cases
1. Most common thing which is now popular with lovely pico owners is the new cute_price's oc kernel technique which could overclock your device without harming your nand, which we call as nand burn. cute_prince's thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2337886
In this case you can use these kernels- Jarvis kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2325345
Pandora kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2238754
2. you can use some task killers and an app called ram manager free & pro versions: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.smartprojects.RAMOptimizationFree
this app helps to clear all the task running in background and freeing up maximum ram, you also get different profiles like more free memory, hard multitasking, hard gaming etc.
3. You can use an app called Greenify: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oasisfeng.greenify
this app hibernates apps that are not in use to maximize free ram space and boosts up the speed of the device.
4. Reboot your device atleast once in 2 days so to load all the processes and apps to bring back the smoothness.
5. clear cache under recovery of the device
6. as mentioned above you can try some kernel that can overclock your device uptill 800mhz or higher (higher the speed, maximum chances of nand burn ) you don't need to create any special partitions for these kernels.
7. don't move data to sd-ext if you have a sd card partition, this decreases the speed for loading apps and lags your device.
8. Avoid live wallpapers because these acquire ram as well as cpu and drain battery with a faster speed.
9. Disable auto sync of data.
10. Disable unwanted apps to freeze the process completely
11. Uninstall unwanted apps so as to increase internal storage and increase performance (menu loading time and os loading time)
12. Decrease use of widgets because these use hell lot of ram and cpu usage.
To determine which process is running the most in background, better use better battery stats app from the play store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.asksven.betterbatterystats
13. Hit Thanx the most important thing that would speed up your device
Reply some other techniques that you use and i am gonna add them too, these were my own ways to boost up
I don't use scripts because they don't help a lot (no offence )

[GUIDE][ICS][Tune your TIPO for the Best Gaming Experience]

[SIZE="5" /][COLOR="red"]For bloatware removal guide go to post no. 24[/COLOR][/SIZE]
After a lot of research on xda I came across some mods which improve gaming performance.
Prerequisites :
1. A rooted phone
2. An unlocked bootloader (for installing custom kernels)
3. Basic knowledge about taking cwm/twrp backups, flashing scripts, restoring stock fw etc.
4. Make sure that you have busybox installed. If not ,download and install it from playstore.
5. Follow this guide if you are unable to get init.d support :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xpe...-stock-ics-t2177856/post38796669#post38796669
There are many custom roms available for tipo but I prefer using stock ICS firmware the most.
All mods below are for ICS and have been tested on latest stock firmware only.
Let's move to the first part -
RAM :
I found out that ICS uses less memory than cm 10.
I've used Paradox Rom and I found out that it uses a LOT OF MEMORY.
(Approximately 200mb+). Therefore I use stock rom. After applying the mods below ram usage is low.
1. First of all remove all bloatware from stock firmware.
You can delete update centre from /system/app .
2. I don't use social networking apps so I've removed Facebook,Whatsapp,Hangouts.
3. Don't use any task killer . They end up using more Ram and battery. Use only xbooster if at all. It's free on playstore
4. If you use a lot of apps you might want to use Greenify. Take care not to use experimental features -they consume more ram.
5. You should use a launcher that consumes less memory. The stock xperia launcher uses large amount of ram. I personally prefer Zeam Launcher.
6. If you are still short of memory ,you might want to swap a small amount of your internal storage and use it as RAM . The stock kernel supports swap. Here is a script to create swap files : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2359182
so no need to use roehsoft ram expander.
But be aware that swapping your internal storage for using as ram will decrease its life.
7. Reboot your phone once a day.
8. Freeze/delete those system apps which you do not use regularly. I have disabled google play store and google play services as they keep waking up the device at regular intervals.
9. Hypercola script is excellent for gaming :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2404653
I've attached a few screen shots of my ram usage
Kernel :
If you have unlocked your bootloader you can use custom kernels.
At present there are three available :
Vengeance by @rachitrawat
Link : http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-j-e/orig-development/kernel-vengeance-t2134810
Vengeance reloaded by @ShivangDave
Link : http://forum.xda-developers.com/xpe...ent/kernel-vengeance-reloaded-paused-t2540952
Enigma by @Yash98
Link : http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-j-e/orig-development/miro-tipo-enigma-kernel-ics-t2942101
ENIGMA is the latest kernel for tipo and from my experience ,its the best.
It has both CPU and GPU overclocked.
Graphics :
Reducing resolution and textures helps us to play new games smoothly.
Many of you know that installing GL tools zip causes settings to crash.
I found out that both Chainfire 3D and GL tools use same driver so you might try installing cf3d driver from chain fire 3d and use gl tools to change graphics settings. Then you can use GL Tools without bugs.
This init.d script helps to reduce lags in games and in launcher :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-j-e/orig-development/xperia-e-j-miro-tipo-adreno200-t2635772
Storage :
Another hindrance to gaming is too less internal memory (2.15 GB).
But if you have a memory card, you can swap storages and your memory card will be used as internal sdcard. Thanks to @TeamMex for this.
you can verify it in Settings>>Storage.
Steps :
1. Using a file manager like Root Explorer ,navigate to /system/etc and search for vold.fstab file.
2. Backup your original vold.fstab file.
3. Download the file in the attachments. Rename it to vold.fstab (remove .txt from file name and replace it with the original file.
4. Reboot.
5. After reboot go to Settings >>Storage. And you'll see your external card as internal storage.
Follow the instructions carefully or you might end up with a bricked device.
6. If you want to revert simply replace the vold.fstab file with your backed up one.
You can also use apps like foldermount or GL to Sd if you don't like swapping internal -external storage
Please post your comments below and give your suggestions and I shall add them to the OP.
I shall be adding more mods/tips soon !!
And please don't hesitate to hit the thanks button if I helped you
Disabling Apps :
Another hindrance to gaming is the memory consumed by system apps such as power saver, update centre . We root users have better techniques for saving power !!
Now , there are many apps available in the playstore which can disable system apps but most of them are either paid or consume a lot of ram. I have found a technique of disabling apps on xda.
I don't know who the author is so I am unable to give credits.
The method is pretty much simple.
1. Use any file manager which has root access. I prefer Root Explorer.
2. Go to /system/app
3. rename app you want to disable to xxx.apk.bak where xxx is apk name.
Eg:- if ypu want to disable NetworkLocation.apk , you just have to add .bak at the end of file extension i. e., you write NetworkLocation.apk.bak
The above method is also applicable for user apps. These apps can be found in /data/app
Apps that can be disabled safely :
1. Update Centre
2. Power Saver
3. News and Weather
4. Facebook
5. Timescape
6 . YouTube
Root Explorer also contains thumbnails of apps so you can easily identify the apps from their icons.
Here I would like to add a small note about stock music player.
If you listen to music frequently ,stock music player runs in background and is not easily killed. It cannot be exited and starts running as soon as music icon is touched. An alternative to this would be Walkman app but Walkman has some permission issues with custom kernels like venegeance. Thus it force closes every time. Therefore it is advisable that you reboot your phone before starting any heavy game.
Moderators , if you see this post , please sticky this thread.
Thanks in advance
Playing gta san andreas with minimal lags
There you go guys !!!
Here are the best settings for playing GTA San Andreas :
Without wasting a second lets move to the first part
In Game Settings :
Go to in game settings->Display setup .Turn off Shadows and car reflections, set visual effects to low ,draw distance and resolution to 0%. Don't worry even after setting everything to low ,the game looks almost same as in pc.
Install enigma kernel if you haven't done it already.
Edit : Hypercola script drinks battery too fast. Better not use it.
Next , use defiant07's swap script . Links are already provided in one if the previous posts. Run script using script manager. Follow instructions in the script and choose "ext card" option as location to create swapfile . Do note that by choosing above option it will create swap file on internal sd card. Internal storage has normally the fastest read write speeds unless u're using a class 10 sd card.
Size of swap file should be 250 mb.
Set swappiness between 40-60.
Swapping with high values of swappiness for long periods will ruin your sd card and internal storage. See post 22 on page 3 for more info. So,use swap only if you require it. Playing without swap only results in more fc's nothing more. I am getting a frame rate of18 -20 fps even without swap.
CPU Settings :
Use any cpu control app .
I found out that setting too aggressive frequencies doesn't help. Rather device performance gets reduced due to overheating. I got highly satisfactory results by applying below mentioned freq and gov
Max frequency : 999 mhz
Min Frequency : 320 mhz
I/o scheduler : sio
Governor : ondemand
Use Enigma kernel v8.5 for best results
Heavy gaming with overclock will drink your battery.
For best results , after gaming for 2min from first launch, restart your game. It helps to clear up ram and thereafter gaming becomes very smooth .
My battery goes to 0% after 6-7 hours from full charge if I play gta san andreas continuously.
Please let me know if I missed out something and give your remarks towards this post. Have a good time playing gta san andreas !!

I have XE, but i bet these tips work for tipo:
- If you've deleted all background apps, dont use greenify. It consumes CPU and RAM.
- RAM Manager Pro is much better than Xbooster - have a try.
- Use old versions of media apps (FB, youtube, google apps...).
- If you have compatibility issues with ICS, or you want some more features, pick CM10. Its performance is nearly as good as ICS (I can get 280mb free).
- If you are scared of swapping (yeah, there is a slight chance of hard brick), use FolderMount to move the obbs to SD.
- in CPU management, use SmartassV2/ Ondemand governor instead of Performance, if you don't play 24/7.
Last: Don't try to play Need for speed MW on your phone if your PC can max it out. You should know what I mean.

Here is my free RAM in hard multitasking mode (without Greenify) on TheBrainCandyS 1.3Final:

Clean Master Review

Clean Master is basically one of the best and most popular Android apps! The fact that it has average 4.7 rating from more than 18 million reviews speaks more than enough for its success. All that is deserved because it is one of the most comprehensive, broad and lovely Android tools. So helpful and filled with tons of useful features that will boost and speed up your Android device.
This app has several crucial features that are important for every Android device. First, this app is your App manager. You can install/uninstall or move any app from your phone’s memory to your SD card directly from the app. Additionally the app will manage your phone storage and SD card storage. It will constantly remind you if you are exciding storage space and it will constantly remind you to clear your cache and junk files. Also, it will remind you to move every new app you install to the SD card storage.
One of the best features of Clean Master is the ability to clear all the junk and residual files. This will save you tons of storage space. On one of my older devices that I have used in the last 2 years, Clean Master has saved me more than 15 GB of storage, isn’t that astonishing?
Clean Master cleans the junk files very fast. It can literally wipe up to 1GB of files in under 2 minutes. The residual files removal is also a great feature. Residual files are the files that the apps you uninstall leave on your phone. Clean Master easily gets rid of them and this increases the free storage space and speeds up your phone.
The app can also close any ongoing process and release RAM memory. The Clean Master’s widgets like 1 tap boost are really popular amongst Android users. This widget enables you to boost your phone with a simple tap on the icon.
Clean Master is the tool that I have used for the last 2 years and that I will continue to use in the future. It is highly reliable, extremely useful and easy to use. Get it for free and speed and clean your Android devices!

I was using Clean Master also
But with updating the app it become Hungry For Ram and Battery
So Does Battery Doctor now full of ads
The best CM app for now is CM browser
I switched from clean master to kk cleaner, has all the base features of cm but no ads or annoying pop ups, I would still be using cm if there wasn't all these self promoting ads or random articles. Sadly they think it was a great change as they have declared it a kind of "bonus feature" that they seem very proud of which is actually an annoyance and an issue leading to more RAM consumption, and more battery wasted as a result, and they have even been adding these things to their other previously great apps (ie. Battery doctor) so as an effect I have stored using all cheetah mobile apps and have found alternatives like kk cleaner
Clean Master works intelligently for removing virus, malware or any threat and there is no other lighter in weight application for Android Smartphones or Tablets that can take optimization of your Android devices to next level.
There are three things that will surely impress you or any other person.
1-Most of the people complain about Clean Master, that it eats lots of Battery Resources and which they are wrong about because it never occupies more than needed space, but people stuff their storage space with other useless space and blame CM for Battery and RAM consumption. I will vote it as light-in-weight app ever.
2- Sometimes, residual files that are most often pollute your devices without coming into your notice, but CM deletes them as easily as A-B-C, so never feel uneasy ' Clean Master is perfect Security guard for you'
3- Either it is PC or your Android Smartphone and Tablets, it is equally fruitful on all operating systems.:highfive:

Android device running slow? Here’s how to speed up your phone

Delete and disable unnecessary apps
You can do this by using the app manager in your settings, or by long-pressing apps in your drawer and dragging them to the “Uninstall” section.
Clear the cache data
The issue is that cache can build up and become pretty heavy on your smartphone’s internal storage. Try to clear it from time to time, as it can also get old. The option is available for individual apps through the app manager, or you can look for a cache cleaning application in the Google Play Store.
Clean your device storage
Got too much music, videos and other files around? Filling up your internal storage can affect performance, so try to keep your phone memory as tidy as possible. Go through all your files and decide what you will actually use and what is just taking up space for no good reason.
Get rid of widgets!
Try to limit your widget usage as much as possible. Of course, don’t sacrifice your whole experience either; after all, widgets are among of the coolest things the Android OS offers. Just keep it limited to what you will actually take advantage of.
Dump the live wallpaper
Live wallpapers sure are fun, but they affect performance and battery life. Unless you are willing to sacrifice a bit for those fancy animations, just go grab a regular image.
Keep your phone’s software up to date
Make sure your phone’s software is always on the latest version available.
Rooting?
If you really want to go nuts and unlock the door to a whole other series of possibilities, you can root your phone. Once you get total access to your device you can install cleaner ROMs that will keep your phone running smoother. It’s even possible to overclock the processor and make it work extra hard for you, hence making the phone faster.
Perform a factory data reset!
The option is in your phone’s settings under “Backup and reset”. There’s also ways to do a factory reset using the recovery menu, but the steps are different for every phone. Google is your friend!
