[APP] Light Manager Compatibility - Galaxy Note 3 Themes and Apps

I am the developer of Light Manager. It is an app to configure notification LED color and its flashing frequency for different notification types.
I created this thread to gather more comments and compatibility issues about Light Manager on Samsung Galaxy Note 3. If it is not working accordingly, I would consider getting a Note 3 device for testing. I would like to make it compatible with Note 3.
For more information, you may go to the original thread at Samsung Galaxy S IIII section at:

First of all - thank you for your app, using it for a long time!
As for my usage - everything is working fine on my N3 Octa

Thanks, seems to be working perfectly.

What is not working for you? Not even the missed call and SMS notification?
Go to Settings > Display > LED indicator > and make sure "Notifications" is checked.

ah, scratch that, I'm an idiot.

Tried it and its working on my N3, thanks

Thanks
Hello !
Thanks for your app, it work fine and your app is GREAT ! Hope you continue like that

It works for me one notification at a time.
If another text or notification come in they all stop.

I think what mckoo wants to know it's the color reproduction! my impression: same deviations as with the grey note 2, too much green!

You mean the color reproduction for note 3 is same as note 2? For note 2, I created an one-click button to set hex color code specifically for note 2 device.

i know this button, as i had a note2 for about one year, and used your app daily! i think the same button (custom color codes) will do it for note3 as well! maybe some values are a little different, but this should be figured out easily! if you want, i can test some values for you and report back!

It would be great if you can help to figure out the color code. I will create a hex color code setting button like note 2 for note 3.

Seems like you are using T-Mobile US variant. Perhaps the firmware handles notification differently.
How about you try changing the operating mode to either alternating mode / normal mode? See which mode is working for you?

T-Mobile note 3 here as well and it is also not working, unfortunately. I am also stock everything, but I do have app settings and wanam installed with the xposed framework. **As I was writing this I decided to test the alternating mode and bada bing, it's working correctly now. Thanks for the app!

I downloaded this about a week ago for my n9005. As it wasn't meant to be compatible I was surprised that everything worked! Thank you for such a great app.
Back when I had a Nokia n900 you could customize the led's but you could also set a priortity, so if a missed call came in after a message, it would flash the colour of the missed call as that was a higher priority. Is this possible to do on android?

Perhaps you can try changing operating mode to "Alternating Mode". That will alternate the LED color for multiple notifications. With this, I guess priority is not necessary. I'm just trying to make things simple, adding priority will just add more settings which makes Light Manager not user friendly.

Light Flow updated to work with the USA version of the SGS3.. if your rooted

Been following the dev over on his blog that makes Light Flow. When the USA version of the SGS3 came out, it busted Light Fow (you can read the blog for full details). He just pushed version 3.0.5 to the market that for root users, should work all except flashing LED (except for red, blue). So, if your not rooted, it still will not work.
YAY great news!
Just saw this in the play store ha've you tried it yet?

Yea, its a bit glitchy still. I wouldnt say its fixed 100% yet. But its usable for text messages and missed calls etc.

using it now. done several tests and all has worked so far for me. my colors are showing correct. my notifications are all firing. it cycles through multiple notifications (like when you get a MMS, email and missed call) from the tests I have done. I had some initial issues (lag) when I first installed it, but all seems fine now.
before it was 100% unusable, you can read why in the blog, now it is like 98% usable. The big bummer is that only like red and blue can flash, every other color has to be solid. But the dev claims with LED, this has minimal to no battery effect - which I kind of find hard to believe.
So I guess we get to talk about this in quadruplicate in each one of the carrier forums?
I hope Samsung gets around to explaining the non-stardard notification system they decided to use in the US version.
Anyhow, seems to be working fairly well for me. The one thing I noticed is that, with some notifications, it initially comes on as a different color than chosen in light flow, but then a split second later, the light flow color comes on and stays.
Is it first using the color baked in to the app and then light flow is taking over quickly after that? Anyone else noticed that? Any way to have that not happen (though it's not in a big deal).

Yes I now admit I have seen this glitch also but I had not yet determined if it is as you say it or if it was firing the last color used then firing your desired color. I think your logic is the issue.

Make sure you switch off all the "led indicators" in the phone settings otherwise it'll be fighting against the default notifications.

Do you mean the 3 items I have indeed led indicators in phone settings or should I also go into each app that i have light flow notifications set up for and disable any options for led notifications that each app might have?

I only did the 3 led indicator items in phone settings, I did not go into each individual app and turn off notifications and so I have no redundant notifications. We give Light Flow the power to take over those notifications.

I figured out how to get rid of the green light staying on. Even though you grant light flow root access you need to check the box that asks for root access in the app as well.

It's not by choice. Getting the LED to blink with consistency was a major challenge. So the blinking was removed (for now - but Andrew the dev is amazing so he will get it without too much more delay).
However there are a few inherent bits of code in the OS to make the LED blink for certain colors/patterns and those are the limited blinks you can pick.
I was a beta tester so I watched how this progressed.

I thought this app was all good for me, but it's still not working. I can't get the sleep mode to work. I set it up to turn off all notifications at night but they're still coming on.
I cannot get this to work no matter what I try!!!
Is blue the only color we can get to pulse, or will more come over time?
What Can You Do?
I've never used Light Flow before but have been considering purchasing the app. Can anyone tell me what setup they use Light Flow (ie which color for which)?
I guess I'm asking for someone to pitch me the product! I'm interested in it but hesitant on what LED notifications I would use besides the defaults.
Thanks!

[Updated] List of major problems in S4

Hi guys.
I am going to list the common issues with my i9500.
Got it 2 weeks back and have been testing it thoroughly. Currently on latest ME1 firmware.
1.Overheating
2.Camera Crash
2b. New crash issue: open camera, go to settings, press the mic (sound) button and the camera crashes.
3.Phone turns off all by itself.
(Hapenned twice in two weeks)
4.When the phone is turned on again, the battery levels jumps down to 10-15 percent less of what it was before. It is also displayed in the settings battery status graph.
5.When the volume is set to max during a call through earpiece, the slight vibration made because of the sound emission is felt on the back of the device (in a cheap way) every s4 has this issue.
6.Launcher redraw (Even after updated ME1 firmware but its improved and only seen when doing heavy muktitasking)
7. Screen smearing issue.
8. Slight pinkinsh/purple tone on the lower right half of the screen when the brightness is set to lowest.
9. Flash light less bright than other phones eg nexus or s3
10. Camera Lag when opening
10a. Shutter lag when taking photos
11. Gallery lag when opening
12. Dialer lag
13. Contact app lag
14. When the keyboard is popped out on say a white web page, the screen does a slight brightness adjustment that it almost feels like a screen flicker on low brightness. Then it changes colour tone from reddish to greenish.
15. Notification bar ocassionally stutters when pulled down or pushed back up.
Whoever gets any of these issues please keep confirming or adding any more issues I missed. All these issues are currently present in alot of brand new s4 units worldwide.
Erm, I have come across any of these. Try this to reduce 'lag'
- Open S voice and go in to the S Voice settings and untick 'open via home button'
- Go to developer options and change all the animation/window/transition scales to 0.5x
See how that works. Also exchange it for a different S4 if you have those problems. Are you rooted? If so try stock rooted and see if that was a software issue

In the quote section is the list of the issues I'm encountering on my S4 9500 vers. I have to mention that my phone reboots when the camera crashes. Another issue would be the battery life (10-12 hrs with 2 hrs screen time on).
I believe all of these issues are easily solvable via a firmware update. Hurry up Sammy.

Nexus 5 - vibration intensity ?

Hi all, never owned a nexus phone previously but just ordered from play N5 - coming from S4.
Just got a quick question... Is the vibration intensity adjustable on the N5 or even LG G2 like it is on my S4?
Thanks in advance

Download a custom kernel that support it and install trickster on Google play to control it.
And there's a app call battery widget reborn that will show your a battery percent on the top left. This phone hasn't even been release a week yet.
Lol but no touch wiz did not spoiled you the nexus 5 support will suck you in if you like customizing your android.

the intensity is adjustable...at least for the haptic feedback when typing
I have a mushy annoying vibration when typing...especially when typing fast.
I did RMA my Phone and the new phone is allready on the way to me (still have the old one)
After i did RMA i found out that the haptic feedback is adjustable....i put it on 1ms for typing....now it is less annoying and feels kinda normal....but not as crisp as it should imho.
I will receive the new one tomorrow and will compare them......who knows how the new phone will be (dust, dead pixels).....if there is anything like that i´ll keep the old one....if i am allowed to...i heard google forces you to keep the new device....anybody knows that for sure?

Yes it is thanks to custom kernels like Franco or Faux.
vibration config on the playstore will sort you out!
It´s adjustable without custom kernel or any app...
just go to settings -->Language & Input
there you will find Google Keyboard and at the right of it there is a symbol (haven´t seen it for the first few days)
Push it and you will find an extra poined called "advanced settings"
There you can change the vibration feedback for typing

I don't think so, I did it before and I couldn't find anything, just root it. it's really easy.
by the way that APP works great.
Hi guys, is there any way I can increase vibration strength permanently by editing a file instead of using a root app? I tried doing what Vibration Config does by going into /sys/devices/virtual/timed_output/vibrator/amp and changing the value from 60 to 95, which works, but on a reboot it keeps changing back. Any idea how to keep it permanent? Thanks

It changes back because the kernel sets everything back to default, which is why kernel apps have a "set on boot" option. It also requires root access to be able to modify such values.
You can:
- compile a kernel yourself and change the default
- use a kernel app to set on boot
- use tasker to change the value on boot
- change it manually every time
An init.d file can do the job also.

Yeah forgot about that halfway through writing the post, but you also need support for init.d in kernel ramdisk.

I too had this problem, just out of curiosity did you and your wife's phone get rooted? If yes or no did you freeze any apps or processes with either titanium or (non root) package disabled pro? Any type of flashing? I noticed once I froze some stuff it suddenly stopped working whenever I texted my brother currently looking into it myself! Feedback would be great to help determine possible problems causing this

So you can see when the other person has read your message, is typing and you can receive uncompressed pictures and videos in Chomp?

The read receipt yes the rest no. So I guess it be a yes /no thing. Not really sure how I feel about people seeing me typing.
Example. If a client sends me a message and I start to type, then I decide to check my data when I hit the office my clients might think I am either blowing them off or just not know my products like I should. I rather play it safe and know they don't know enough to check that lol

Dude, that is nothing like advanced messaging. I don't think you even know what it is.
I know this is a thread for the Note 5, but I have the Galaxy S5 with Android 5.1.1 and Advanced Messaging. My sister has the same phone and it is also on Android 5.1.1. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. We both use the stock app and our devices aren't rooted. I believe both phones have to be on LTE or Wi-Fi calling to use Advanced Messaging. It doesn't seem to work on 4G and definitely won't work on Edge. I also feel like Advanced Messaging doesn't work when someone goes over their data limit, but I'm not totally sure. I wish T-Mobile had more documentation and information on the requirements and stuff for using Advanced Messaging. I am usually able to send large photos without a problem, though.

My phone is rooted but hers is not, however I had the same issue before I had rooted my phone, so even with or without root nothing has changed and the "read" feature has a mind of its own and works when it wants to.
Someone just said in another thread that their pretty sure that BOTH phone have to be connected to a wifi or lte network for the feature to work, otherwise if you on 3g/edge the feature wouldn't work. Even though this sounds like a good possability, even when we are both at home and both connected to our wifi the read reports only randomly work. So I have no idea what the deal is.

LED Notification Light

Can we control HTC U12+ LED Notification Light colors through a third party app like Light Flow?

So, holding my new U12+ in hands now, I slightly miss my HTC 10...is there any chance to disable the notification led while night time or manually without set ALL notification off? Lightflow brings not the expected result, neither does Tasker (somewhere I read that Tasker cant handle this setting with stock rom...) Can't check it because I don't want to unlock, root etc the U12+ yet for reasons.
If this post is off topic, please move to right section. Thanks in advance

When you want to root you will be able to do that via cleanslate or kirisakura kernel, the first one doesn't need root but I think it still means unlocking bootloader.

Yeah, I think too that flashing a new kernel requires an unlocked bootloader. But I want to avoid this step yet...
So, if there's a without-root solution for my request, it would be much appreciated to get this solution.
Thanks
Stefan
