You might first flash a search function... See the thread here.

Ah, you mean this search result from your link:
"Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms."
The only downloads I could find from searching were more recent recovery images....

Now, this is embarrassing... Hopefully, it works this time I expect one of the 1.31.x versions to work for you as well. Have you tried it?
I considered it, even downloaded the image, but further reading warned heavily against flashing a recovery with a different version of the base Rom....

Just to clarify, I checked the site, translated to English, but couldn't find the 1.22 image

You could use the 1.31 recovery.
It will work, to flash the ota.

I did a flashboot and installed the 1.31 recovery image, booted ROM (Magiorom), rom on 1.22 and downloaded via system update the 1.31 and hit install....
Reboots, goes to the screen with the green arrow, gets to about a quarter way on the progress bar, then a big red arrow. Reboots.
Rom comes up ok, system still at 1.22
I'm doing:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot clear cache
reboot to recovery, green arrow again then reboot
Noticed when i managed to get into stock recovery, installing the ota 1.31 shows an error about 7digital.odex - does ota apply on odexed only?
Any assistance would be appreciated!
Yes, you need to be on the odexed stock rom as the ota looks for and patches the stock files.

How do you get into stock recovery? I know how to get into bootloader, and then I choose recover, but then it just takes you a screen with a green arrow and you can't do anything.
I want to try to find out what version my recovery is.
When it has the green arrow, I was randomly pressing the volume up and power keys, it shows a message about being unable to mount the sdcard four times then goes to the recovery menu.... Sorry I don't have proper instructions but it worked....
Are you trying to flash an ota? It won't work, even with an odexed (rooted) stock rom - craps out verifying file signatures....

Interesting, I was also getting the unable to mount SD card 4x and then it finally went into recovery. I was hoping it would tell me what version of recovery I have.
I'm not trying to manually flash OTA. I'm unlocked via HTCdev, which wiped my /data folder. I'm on AT&T, and apparently the AT&T OTA won't install unless I'm able to replace the files that had previously been in the /data folder. So I wanted to find out what recovery version I have so I can download a stock recovery to reflash when I'm finished fixing my problems.
Do you know if I can just flash any version of recovery, or is the recovery version specific to my AT&T software?
You should try and use a recovery image version that matches the rom base version.... If you can't get hold of it, the flash the next version up - if you have the ota zip, extract it and you'll have the recovery image file..... If you haven't flashed a custom recovery, the version you have will be the same as your rom version.....

You could find the recovery.img in the ota.ZIP.
Just open the ZIP with 7zip and inside of it you find the Firmware.ZIP.
Inside of the Firmware.ZIP is the stock recovery.

My gf got a Nexus S last month and loves it! She just needs BLN to work... so we unlocked the bootloader and installed a custom Kernel (Matr1x I believe). Will the OTA come through? If so, will it wipe out anything like CWR or the unlocked bootloader? I saw Matr1x already released a ver for ICS so it would be an easy install...

How would I go about updating the device? She's pretty excited for ICS.
It will fail the verifying stage of the update. All the original files of the previous version of the update your flashing needs to be there.

So if I restore the Kernel (I'm not sure how I would go about doing that though, can someone provide instructions? ) would it apply the update at that point? Or do I need to re-lock the bootloader? Relocking would be a pain........

That depends on what kind of update it will be ... The update from 2.3.3 to 2.3.4 on my i9023 nexus was a full rom and could be flashed without a problem.

Go back to latest available stock version. (Rooted with Superuser.apk in /system/app is OK) & Keep your Custom Recovery or reflash it.
Put a Superuser flashable zip on your sdcard.
When you have the OTA update.zip somewhere on your sdcard ( Copied from /cache) boot into custom recovery
Flash update.zip manually and directly after it flashes, flash the Superuser.zip right on top of update.
Wipe /cache
Reboot
Download Joeykrim's flash_image gui from the market.
Place custom-recovery.img on root of sdcard. (Rename it to recovery.img)
Flash custom recovery in flash_image gui
Change permissions of /system/etc/install-recovery.sh & /system/recovery-from-boot.p to "000"
I would just wait till ics is out and then youll find a flashable .zip here on xda and you can just flash that like you did with the matr1x kernel... not shure if full wipe would be nescesary but if yes then you can backup your apps through titanium or sth similar!

Edit: what i actually wanted to say that theres no need to go back to stock now because you can get the update over xda and just flash that!
while we're on the topic....would editing the build.prop keep an OTA from installing? For example, LCD density??
Why not just wait like one day for someone to post a rooted stock ICS rom? I am sure one of our wonderful devs here will be all over it. It will probably show up in one of those REF threads pretty quickly. Then you don't have to mess around with setting root up again. That's what I always did with my EVO Shift so I'll probably do it with this phone as well.
If you hadn't modified your build.prop or removed system apps, you'll just need to flash the stock kernel. Theres no need to flash the whole stock Rom.
What if your bootloader is unlocked and nothing else. Will it get the OTA?
Question since we on the subject when will ics be released for our phones or is it still unknown as to when is gonna be released?

That's exactly what I was looking for... but where would I find the stock Kernel and can I overwrite it while the system is in use? I downloaded the entire stock ROM for her phone so I should have the file somewhere in one of the IMG files (yes, I have mounted them before in Windows)

i tried to flash mt4gs lite rom with the Clockworkmod Recovery 5.5.0.4 and it failed (i **** my pants) why if the recovery is latest one the rom flash failed?
What exact steps did you take to flash? Are you leaving the rom zipped up, or did you unzip it? Did you check that the size of the rom that you downloaded matched the size it should be?
And what error was you givin? When I found the first ROM I ever built for the speedy I'm like oh yeah I'm gonna flash this bisch to see how far my work/ROM has came, so about 6 seconds into the flash it aborted because amend scripting was no longer supported and the new recovery will flash edify only. Now I'm not sure if you all had to make that transition or not but that's one cause of a recovery rejecting an older ROM

Did you flash the rom in cwm after the first time you flashed the boot.img? If not then that is probably your issue.
For me I flashed boot flash rom in cwm and for good measure flashed the boot again.
I am going to try a new download of the rom I think that could be my issue.
Right ill basically start from as if i was to flash the rom from if i has a stock phone
1.Make sure phone is rooted and unlocked by Htc dev
2.Have a custom recovery flashed
3.Download the v2.0 and v2.1 of the rom and also the boot.img
4.Place v2.0 and v2.1 files into a folder on your sd card.
5.Now make a nandroid backup of your current rom you are using before you flash LeeDroids rom
6.Extract the boot.img so that you can run the command to flash the .img to your phone
7.Boot phone into bootloader then fastboot, connect phone to pc and it should say fastboot usb.
8.Run the boot.img file to which ever OS you are using (meaning windows, mac etc.)
9.Get back into the bootloader screen and get into recovery.
10. Format system, data and cache also wipe dalvik cache as well. It should be wiped by formatting system and data but only takes 2seconds to do it anyway. You will find it under advanced menu(In Clockworkmod)
11. Find the .zip of leedroids v2.0 and flash it
12.Reboot phone and finish the setup menu and just let the phone settle for a minute or two after you finished it
13. Boot phone into bootloader and then fastboot. Run the boot.img again just to be sure.
14.Boot into recovery and flash v2.1 and then reboot and enjoy.
Now set phone up the way you want
This is the method i have used seems long but only takes 10minutes once you have all the files. I have done this 4 times using this method
I will try this method later so what's the v6.4?

Try using other button to select, instead of power button. For me, I use search button, but my recovery is a different version than yours. If you give up, flash a different recovery file.

why dont u just use the touch recovery of twrp. it works fine
Well right now you're on the old baseband, so make sure to flash a baseband fix if you install anything from 2.3 or up, you can download the fix here: http://www.mediafire.com/?tjyibxdbqyyrmwz make sure to install the fix every time you install a new rom.
As for the most stable rom, you'll have to try them and see which one you like. That being said, I've heard nothing but good things about oxygen rom.

You don't have to upgrade the baseband, he just recommends it because the new baseband gives better reception, if you use the baseband fix you can use any rom you like. If you do want to upgrade the baseband though, just use lg's official gingerbread updater, it's the safest way.

I'd reccomend clockworkmod over twrp, had more bootloops with twrp in the past.
Also, good alternative rom is dark jelly cm10.1 with android 4.2.1 stable and reliable, using it a pretty long time.
Easy install via an automatic installer program called aroma installer, no need to flash boot.img here

yes, ck your md5's. i use es explorer and it is easy
as john said you can try another rom, but still ck md5 and wipe system as part of your wipes
if you flash a rom with aroma, don't wipe in recovery and aroma. only one. i prefer recovery
as for cwm or twrp. everyone has their favorite. it is my understanding though cwm hasn't kept pace on updates with later version roms afaik
hope you get it--
