Apps and data successfully restored using Helium (without root )) - Galaxy Note 3 General

For those who wants to make restoration of Apps and data from previous smart phone to your new baby note 3 without root ,
Helium can do that. It needs a pc to get it started
Tested myself backup in note 1 to sd card, copy and paste it into note 3 (same folder ),
Then Apps and data are ready to be restored.
*A solution to restore Apps and data without backing up (connecting 2 phones to pc with helium simultaneously )

Sweet. That should make not having root bareable.

Yep, helium is great!
Now, with this knox counter which can't be reset, titanium backup is not an option anymore.
So.. All hail Helium!

Does this mean I can make a backup of my rooted Note II, which I have done with Helium and restore it to an unrooted Note 3?

Could not get VZ Nexus to work with Helium. Tried 2 different Samsung drivers and still just sits there.......

Why does it need the PC, then?

Helium is not compatible with the Note 1, the Play site tells me :crying:

Does it work with Mac?

Trying makes no harm to your Mac. Go to the website given by helium, not sure is there a program for Mac.
Try it and share us. Thanks

There is a Helium "enabler" for the Mac - works perfectly with the Note 3.
Since my Note 2, with apps like Helium I've not found a compelling reason to root my devices any more. Sometimes I still do just to try out custom ROMs, but it always used to be the first thing I did on getting a new device.

Dave

for those who can't use helium because don't connect.
Uninstall every driver, uninstall also kies 3, reboot, install KIES 2, the one that says doesn't support note 3. Try again. The drivers of kies 2 work, the drivers alone or of kies 3 doesn't work.

Did anybody found out how to backup data of Google authenticator?

Wow! This is amazing. Helium gets rid of the need to root to use Titanium. Transferred all my apps and their settings so quickly. People should buy the Premium version to support it in my view.
l don't want to lose warranty and this is another realon not to root. Now, if only l could change the dpi without rooting!

Transfer Titanium backups to new phone?

I am getting a new phone tomorrow. Can I make backups of my apps with titanium and then just transfer the backups to my new phone, reinstall titanium and restore? I'd like to think it's a simple yes.
Sent from my Crespo using xda premium
Yes.
Use TI to make the backups, copy the backup folder to the new phone (its super easy if they both have microSD),then reinstall TI and restore apps. Be careful with system apps as they probably will not work on the new phone unless it is the same model.
Bumping this thread because I want to be exactly sure.
I want to transfer my Ti backup of all my downloaded users apps & data from my current Nexus 7 to the new one I just purchased.
So if I go to File Explorer and go to my main SDcard directory :
/storage/emulated/0/
And scroll down until I see the folder labelled
TitaniumBackup
Copy the entire folder to USB drive and then copy that entire folder over to the SDcard storage in the new tablet
Once I reinstall amd start upTi backup, it should automatically recognize my apps backup from the TitaniumBackup folder, right?

help with first flash

Hello, I recently rooted my Samsung galaxy s captivate and have been reading up on the flashing of custom roms ( planning on getting serendipity 9). Any ways, I was just wondering, when I back up my current rom, after installing the new one, is there any way to restore the content without restoring the whole rom?

When you talk about your APPS....please use titanium backup...it always works.
Yes, Titanium backup is great. Although one downside is that you need to root your phone before you can make a full backup. So you would first have to root the stock ROM, make a titanium backup, then flash a new ROM, then restore the backup.
Mybackup root is good for SMS and call log.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe u need the paid version to back up batches. Free is individual apps but I may be wrong

On titanium backup, select backup/restore, after a short delay, top right look for an icon that looks like a sheet of paper, with a tick , select it, the next page look to see where it says backup all user apps n data, think it seems second or third option in the backup section.

Those are saved onto the SD card, no need to backup those (unless you really want to). Wiping the phone before a flash does not wipe the SD card.

You can try using the backup to Google's servers under the backup and reset option, but not sure how useful it is.

On the Samsung support site there was a program that I think was for undeleting files but also had a backup feature if I remember correctly. I did not try it as it required windows and I run Linux Mint.

Hello... i have tried with mybackup pro but it seem that it does not backup the datas of the apps !!!

Transferring pre-installed apps once on ROM

So I moved over to CM10, but first made a backup of AllShare, PS Touch, and Polaris office. I've restored them (not AllShare) using Titanium backup. The problem I'm having is that when I open them they start to open and then FC. Specifically they say "Unfortunately Polaris Office has stopped".
Any ideas why? I'm 99% sure these don't require TW Framework. Any ideas how to fix?
Note that these are backups from MY device to be used on the SAME device.

Ps touch should work ok, I've sideloaded that on to my SGS3 and it works fine. Not that I can use it well, more just to see if I could...Not sure about the others...
OK. Restoring a Titanium backup doesn't work, but if you pull the APK from the backup folder and sideload it, then PS Touch works. I still can't get Polaris Office to work.

Are you restoring data along with the apk? If so, try only to restore apk w/o data.
If that doesn't help, try clearing app data in the applications settings.

I believe that some apps from the Samsung rom require Samsung frameworks inorder to function. These are not present in a CM10 rom unfortunately. Usually therefore you have to find alternative apps.

Successfully transferred app data for two games from SG3 to the HTC Verizon One M8. I believe connecting it to the PC temporarily roots the phone allowing the app data to be copied.
Good Luck.
