PAC-Man, Probam, WTF? - RAZR HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
can you tell me what the difference between PAC and ProBam ist?
I'm feeling kinda confused about this theme right now, because a friend of mine has ProBam and says "woooah, its the best rom ever..." by looking through the settings i got the feeling, that ProBam is the same as PacMan just with an other name oO

Page 52 and forward on pacman thread. PAC is the original.

So that proBam guy is just some jerk, copying pac-teams Rom and changing some strings and then says its his piece of work?

Basically. But fans of his will support him till the end.

Yeah because they have no idea what really goes into developing/porting a ROM. I'm still learning, but if you look at Bam's Git you'll see the entire story pretty clearly.

Is that probam guy the same who made guy who made jellybam? If so, he doesnt have a lot of friends here in xda...
Another question, my friend said something Like: well but probam is compiled via linaro. I have never understood, what the advantage or disadvantage of linaro is, cause for me, compiled means its finished so the Compiler doesnt have much influence on the product,am i right or where is my mistake?

That sounds about right. The story is that Bam just copied and pasted the PAC code, thus just "compiling" it. That might explain Linaro. If they actually developed it, they would have built off of the PAC source, but they did not. That's where the issue was/is.

That I don't know. I'm still trying to get into/learn the coding side of things, but if it's only getting compiled in Linaro then that means the code was already developed somewhere else (well, that's I picture it in my head).

Why bother posting it in developer section if it's the same as the nightly except for the fact that you are compiling it yourself?

Of course there is. Every Dev who has created a ICS will make a JB. Not sure this is worthy of a thread start. Next week things will start rolling in Kernels and Rom's. Just enjoy JB.
Nothing is coming until we have source. This thread only asks a question that even a little bit of logic would make unnecessary. I don't get why anyone would feel the need to ask it, I mean what's their reasoning? Is every kernel dev is sitting on their hands until someone asks if anyone's working on something?

Update Rumor
I was finally able to get the source to download Monday and eventually got it to build yet it doesn't quite work yet since it's 4.2.1  so this will probably need to be put on hold until the 4.2.1 kernel is closer to stable.
Thread Ownership Change
I am turning the ParanoidAndroid thread over to my teammate thomas.raines. He has the 4.1.2 source which is no longer available on GitHub. I appreciate everyone's patience with me in the lack of support I have been able to provide for this ROM. Thomas will do an excellent job.

Is the download link in OP, because I cannot find it. Or is is just me? Thanks in advance.

Download link has been taken down because it was an unstable alpha build. Thomas is most likely working his butt off to fix this ROM. Please be patient until it gets fixed. In the mean time, check out the PACman ROM. It is a mashup of Paranoid, CM and AOKP.

Is it possible to just port PA? I know the first answer to that would be for me to try myself, but I don't have access to a good 64 bit computer running Linux and I am not allowed to change our only 64 bit computer to Linux or even touch it considering that it is my dad's. I understand that PACman is a thing, because I have recommend it to others before, but I would like to have just plain PA. Just a thought with a nice long monologue about why I can't attempt it myself. That is unless someone would like to inform me that it is possible to port on a 32 but computer xD

I'm thinking of giving it a shot soon... I can't now since I start finals tomorrow and won't be done until next Thursday. I'll get working on a port after since I won't really need my phone & I'll have free time.

Update/Bump:
Managed to cook up a quick port tonight but don't have the time to test it (Battery is at 10%, no backups, etc etc)
If you want to give it a shot here's the link : http://d-h.st/0q5
This is using the latest CM10.1 nightly for XT925 as base (so it has all it's bugs)
It's Paranoid Android 3.15 (Port from Mako)
I'll be working on it more thoroughly after my exams (4 more to go!) and just a quick shout out thanks to:
epinters for great work on XT925, and hashcode, and and everyone that got the RHD to this point.
Like I said this hasn't been tested so it might not even boot up for all I know... just trying stuff out

I contacted darkspadez and I'm gonna ask him if he wants he could build for XT926 and I could build for XT925 since he already has a first build in dev section but only for XT926. If he's planning on porting to both XT925 & 926 then I don't see the need for 2 exact same ROMs. We'll have to see how things go! but if I end up doing it from source (plan on starting Thursday evening) I'll let you know for testing
Sent from my XT925 using xda app-developers app
Perfect, please let me know as soon as you know, because here in mexico or latin america we dont have too many developers but we have too many testers, so i can call an army of it XD!!!, and with several devices we can check a Rom and see the bugs
I have to start back setting up the computer to build from scratch since my older laptop screwed up. If anyone wanting to get ParanoidAndroid is willing to settle for something similar you should give PAC Man ROM a try its been ported to the XT925 and is functional besides the AOSP issues(camcorder, etc). I'm not giving up on PA but its gonna be a long shot for me to have a functional build soon since I have lots to do and I'm not sure I'll have access to a 64Bit PC let alone an internet connection.

[Q] Custom N915T Kernel? Create?

Hi I was just curious if there was kernel development for the N915T, I don't see any. Is there some missing source code or the like? I'd like to see some overclocking, looking at the Note 4 for T-Mobile I see a kernel with OC Support for 2.89 GHz, frankly which I would love to see my Edge hit! If there's the code needed, I wouldn't mind trying to create one too. I am honestly looking for a reason to void my warranty ^_^

Sure, I've been tinkering with a kernel too but I'm basically learning from scratch. I just want to add a little functionality like setting SELinux permissive and a few other things. Hi. I pretty much followed instructions in the README file for the kernel. Only difference I see is that I used the saber 4.7 version of the tool chain (32bit). Not sure what the differences are between linaro and saber, or which is better for our device. Anyways, you might give it a try.

A few days ago, I believe I made a kernel. It's not in a boot.img just in a zImage. If anyone wants to finish up creating the boot.img and or testing it out, let me know.
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF ANYTHING HAPPENS. I'M WARNING YOU I HAVE NO IDEA IF IT'S EVEN BEEN CREATED PROPERLY. IF YOU TRY THIS KERNEL, YOU HEREBY AGREE THAT ANYTHING THAT GOES WRONG IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY, NOT MINE.
It should be able to overclock to 2.89 GHz. Also might be able to force the quick charge with anything. Good luck. Thanks.
