Hello Masters !
Last May I ordered for my mother a cheap Chinese 10.2" ZeniThink C91 Upgrade tablet with theoretical support of memory card up to 32 GB.
This July I bought her a new 8" acer A1-810 tablet also with theoretical support of memory card up to 32 GB and I got her old tablet
Than I read here in a thread that the acer may support 64GB.
So I ordered a Samsung 64 GB Class10 UHS I microSDXC for my mother's new acer.
I tried the card in my old tablet which recognised it and can use it.
I put it in the new acer which reported it as unformatted and offered to format it.
I was scared so I got the card out.
My mother has a desktop computer with WinXP and USB SD-adaptor and I have an acer notebook with Win7 and built-in card reader.
I tried the card in both and they showed it's formatted to exFAT and they can format it to NTFS or exFAT (XP needed an update before).
Just a few days ago my mother's new acer tablet got an update with NTFS support so I formatted the card to it.
Then things swapped so my old ZeniThink COULDN'T while the new acer COULD recognise it.
There were no such problems with the previous 16 and 32 GB cards although they were FAT32 I assume.
I have just now read that Windows doesn't make it impossible to format cards to FAT32 but it's only available in command line format command.
So that's what I'm doing right now:
formatting 64GB Samsung C10 UHS I microSDXC card to FAT32 in micro-to-SD-adaptor on an acer notebook under Win7 command line.
So what do you think is the most usable and portable/interchangeable file format between WinXP, Win7 and Android systems ?
Well, I couldn't succeed. Command line posted 'The volume is too big for FAT32'

Thank You, but unfortunately I don't have Android phone and there is NO FORMAT OPTION in either my old tablet with 4.0.3 IceCreamSandwitch or in the new acer with 4.2.2 JellyBean.
How can that be ?!

in that case you can use CWM recovery > mounts and storage> unmount> format ext SD

Did some research for you.
"A microSD card inserted into a Windows Phone 7 device and integrated into the device's file system is intended to be a permanent modification to the device," the support document states. "Once a microSD card has been integrated into a Windows Phone 7 device's file system, it will no longer be readable or writable on any other devices such as computers, cameras, printers, and so on. This includes an inability to format the microSD card for use in these devices. Improper use (including inserting or removing) of microSD cards on Windows Phone 7 devices may result in one or more of the following:
"* System error while powering on the device that prevents the Windows Phone 7 operating system from loading. Note that emergency dialing will function properly.
* Inaccurate reporting of available storage.
* Loss of access to or removal of installed applications.
* Loss of access to or removal of user data/media stored on the microSD card.
* Loss of access to or removal of user data or media stored internally within the Windows Phone 7 device.
* Overall file system performance degradation.
* Device lockup or reset."

Exactly as advertized.
If I had to physically disassemble my device to change a memory module, then I wouldn't expect that module to work in anything else...
...why do you think they don't make them user replaceable? The role of the SD card in WP7 is the same as the role of the internal memory of any other phone, hence why it's mounted internally and NOT designed to be user replaceable.
It all comes back to simple rule of if you don't understand what you're hacking, don't hack it...

Hi, I also got your problem and just got my answer by trial and error.
Format won't help since it won't unlock your sd card. You need to do the following.
1. start linux (install ubuntu besides windows or something)
2. put card in computer
3. unmount sd card with "umount"
4. format sd card with "mke2fs /location-of-sd-card/"
5. go to windows and format as fat32 or just put it in your phone.
6. thank me \
Windows or your phone will say it's broken or something and will repair.
The mango security is no more and your sd card is revived.
Ok, i dont know if this has been posted before but this is my BIG problem. When ever I plug in a 16gb sandisk memory card to my galaxy note 10.1 n8000 it works seamlessly without any problems it shows how much space i have and other options like unmount and the like.
BUT, when I plug in my 64gb sandisk microsdXC it doesn't even mount and the only option i see is mount sd card and when i press on that it shows that sd card can be removed.
I want to know why it is like this. I want to use my 64gb on this and I have already got a replacement for the memory card and i also tried reformatting the cards with exFAT and Fat32. I am at a loss and I don't know where I can find the info to get this fixed. I am begging for anybody to help me with the steps to get this fixed
This is how it looks with the 16gb memory card

This is kinda strange, because i had the same problem with the same card, but found out of the box its exFAT, reformatted to FAT32, now works flawlessly...depending on firmware (i'm on 4.0.4 XXALI3, no exFAT support) even exFAT is said to work finally, don't remember which one actually. Thanx you SAMSUNG, finally acknowledged those cards come with exFAT out of the box...i would try to reformat and make sure it's really FAT32, as not all windows machines seem to produce FAT32 out of the box (I'm on MAC). hope this helps...
my baseband version is N8000UBLG5 4.0.4
I have tried to reformat on my windows 7 alienware laptop. It is really weird. I was worried because I thought that it might be a hardware problem but when i used the 16gb memory card it worked flawlessly. I only used the format option that comes with windows. Could this be a problem with the software? I just hope that this is not a problem with the hardware. I hope someone could shed some light on this for me.
You can't format a 64gb sd card fat32 using window natively, you need another program such as Easius partition manager to do it. This might be your problem....

where do i download this?
Still doesn't work
Ok, I tried using the formating program and still same thing. It wasn't able to fix it. The only option that shows in the storage part is "mount sd card". And still when I click on that, it shows a notification that says that sd card is safe to remove. Im really at a loss here. I guess that because I can use the 16gb memory card, its probably not a hardware problem right? I have the n8000 3g+ wifi model. I don't know what region it is but I bought it at amazon.com
Is the sd card recognised in windows? Can you open up and copy files to/from it?
If you have another phone you could try to format it in that BUT be careful as it can screw them up...

yes It is recognized in windows and yes I can copy files on it. I actually tried it on my galaxy s3 phone and it was recognized. That is why im really wondering why this won't work on the n8000...I am hoping to find someone who could fix it, I would gladly pay for the fix if it would be repaired.

you could try to format in the S3...mine isn't' available right now,so I can't try myself...not sure if S3 does exFAT though....
If you have access to a Digital Camera and a Micro SD to SD Adapter you could insert the micro sd card in the adapter and then insert both into a Digital Camera and reformat using the cameras format instructions.
Worked for me in the past.
Hi
No real issues with recovery recently (either CWM or TWRP). I ended up on latest version of TWRP and was receiving errors that I couldn't mount or back up to the external sd card. This is a 64GB sandisk formatted as FAT32 (via gparted).
Ran a check on the card and there's no errors.
tried CWM and similarly can't mount the card.
the card contents are completely mountable when I boot into the full system, or similarly when I connect to a laptop.
any suggestions ... I want my external backups back!

I have commented on and read similar threads. The problem is the size. I have seen posts using exFat and FAT32 with no good results. Just use a smaller SD card for TWRP.
I read somewhere that there was supposedly a TWRP version floating around that could read exFat on 64GB but have never seen it.
I've just tried a 16GB from my phone with FAT32. Recognised immediately. I think the issue is the physical card size (64GB) or actual SD card hardware with twrp/cwm.

If you run dmesg in adb shell, do you get any interesting lines related to the sd card?
If it's a UHS-1 type card it won't work unless it's the 16Gb, I don't know why but I have to use a standard class 4 to be able to read a card in TWRP. I have a 16Gb UHS-1 and two 32Gb UHS-1 and the 16G will work but neither of the 32Gb ones work. Also the 32Gb ones won't work with Data2SD either but the 16Gb one will. I don't have a 64Gb to test but it might be the same thing.

I have this card as well and works fine with my Infinity.
Today i took my sdcard out my phone put it into a sdcard reader formatted it and wrote a disk image (.img ) to the sdcard and installed chrome on my PC. After i re formatted it put all my stuff back on and put it back into my phone. later on i had to format sdcard again so put it back in sdcard reader went to format but windows said it was write protected but its not. so put it back into my phone formatted it and then went ahead and mounted the sdcard through my phone to pc went to format and also said its write protected so went to format with my phones settings and it formats it what the hell windows cant format but my phone can :S very confusing can anyone elaborate on this and help me fix this issue thanks.
Also 4EXT recovery lets me partition aswell but when mounted still says write protected on windows so looks like ONLY my phone has R/W access to the sdcard
BTW its a class 10 16Gb

There might be glitches when it comes to PC. Have your pc ever been connected to other external storage types. Because my external hard drive is named, lets call it A, when I connect my phone to PC as external storage its A as well because its the same USB port. Try changing USB ports and let it reinstall.
I think your card reader is broken. I've one like this.

What i did to overcome this issue is first i formatted using SD formatter with options (full overwrite, format size adjustment off)...................then i formatted in our mobile............. AND last do not use usb cable for data transferring instead use usb card reader to transfer files............. these helped me alot...............till now i have not had any problems if u done what i said above...........

same card for me. Working perfectly w/o any troubles.
Also, looks like this phone does not like exFat formatted cards, it just corrupts them. So try to format your card to another FS, maybe that would help u.
