Just a big thank you to the community - Asus Transformer TF700

Doing my first Cromi install and it actually was pretty simple once I read everything thoroughly and used a little common sense. Just wanted to say thank you for the help everyone.

I did my best, no need to thank

Flashing your first CROMi-X rom is just the beginning. The information contained within the CROMi-X development post's have been "Priceless" to me...it's like a classroom of android knowledge! :good:

Hah! Same here. This is a great forum though, it's been years since I've gotten into a tech forum like I'm getting into this one.

Rooting and dev stuff in layman's term

Disclaimer: I am far from being a dev of any sort, so take this post with a large serving of information reading elsewhere. I am not responsible for anything that happens to you or your phone, good or bad.
**If this thread helped you, simply click the "thank you" button and leave a reply if you wish.**
I had a really hard time entering the rooting and ROMming scene when I first got the phone, but I am now relatively confident in my rooting and ROMming. One of the reasons I had a hard time at first was simply not knowing what anything was or meant. Even after a lot of reading, I still didn't feel like I knew what I was doing (I simply followed instructions and did things to my phone aimlessly). Nonetheless, everything I post here can likely be found in a sticky or in another thread, but probably in more technical terms; I simply want this thread to be informative to a new user.
With that being said, here are a few things to help the truly new-to-the-scene guys (and gals) here:
********************************************************************************************************************************************************************
Definitions:
Root: essentially gives you the ability to access every nook and cranny of your phone and customize lots of stuff.
ROM: kind of the like the operating system on computers; there are many different ones, but find the one suitable for your needs.
imunts: some really cool dude who developed some really cool stuff for our really cool phone; he's done much for us, so he gets his own line here
kernel: the link between your phones software and hardware; comparable to the nervous system of animals by relaying info between the mind and body
flash: basically like installing something on your computer; everything installed or flashed onto electronics has its dangers and risks (and benefits).
recovery: kind of like the "safe mode" on your PC. Incase SHTF, recoveries can be used to save your phone in most cases.
dwitherell: another cool dev who made a really cool ROM by the name of Tweaked
OTA: Over The Air; typically refers to the updates being pushed upon our phones wirelessly from the heavens... or wherever data comes from
Odin: a program used to flash things onto your phone by using your computer; I personally see this as your computer being the brain and your phone being a temporary zombie that takes commands.
CWM (ClockWorkMod Recovery): a custom recovery that must be flashed onto your phone to replace the stock recovery if you want to flash ROMs, backup or restore your phone.

Everything you need (all files and instructions) to go FROM BONE STOCK TO ROMMED WITH TWEAKED can be found within those three links above. Please take the time to read/search a bit before asking questions. It's likely been asked 654354 times before and it will even help you learn a lot in the process.

I have not developed anything for the phones, nor am I taking any credit for making the tutorials or providing the files associated with the above material.
I will update this as I have more time.
Again, if this helped you, just click the "thank you" button or leave a reply. Also, go and let the devs know how much you appreciate their work and time by visiting their threads and thanking them with a reply or something also. Otherwise, we may never get any advances to our software (like I dunno... ICS or something)
Rice923, I'd post links for peeps to go and read. There's some threads already going on that explain to detail how to have the latest greatest phone avalaible ( Tweaked). Seems like there's a batch of people gone through this (modding) and a batch new to the game. Thank you.

Yeah go for it. If anything I'll add the links to the OP. I had a few links to YouTube vids on how to root and how to go back to stock unroot (both videos worked everytime I've used them without fail). I forgot who made he video but proper credit will be given to the Guy who made it.

There was some confusion as to whether or not it would be called 2.3 or 3.0. That post was probably before dwitherell cleared that up.

Just thought I'd give this a bump since there seems to have been a lot of development changes since I've last owned my Charge. Hope this will be of good use for new owners from the holidays. Cheers!
I have a video for rooting FP5, it's in my thread in the development section.

There is already a well active Orthus discussion thread. Please go there and ask questions rather than starting a new thread.
Stock ICS on my S3
Well, I just checked and it works just fine on my rocket running 6.
Sly is right though, you'll prolly get more help over in the Orthus thread...Also, if you spelled it correctly.

well i do appreciate your input on the matter, but the orthus thread i was looking at in the rom section said the thread was closed,so thats why i started a new thread. thanks for your help.

There lies your problem. Look for the Orthus thread in general started by garydv2002. Usually Gary or mindmajick can help you with any problems you run into. As long as you don't start bashing the dev or rom for one small issue, you'll find an answer to your problem in no time.

Use the thread in General please as has been recommended

sch i535 rom flashing;

So because I apparently am a noob according to xda because I don't have more than 10 posts (this being my first), I need someone to hook me up. If you could please post under the Jelly "beans" rom thread under Android developement the following:
Beans, great ROM man maybe a beer coming your way in the near future.I recently flashed your brilliant ROM but wanted to let you know about some minor bugs I found. Since there are 333 pages of info, im not sure if this was reported already or not.In the email exchange program there's a few options that need to be fixed. They are there but you can't see them until you highlight them. Just check out the options under the email setting and you will seen what I mean. Thanks and keep up the good work!

Where to start?

I used to be a daily xda poster, rom tester, and I helped develope a few roms for the Samsung Infuse. Ive been out of the android smartphone game for a while now so I decided to get the S4, so far im crazily in love with this phone. But theres that little something missing. I kiss testing new roms, and customizing to the fullest. I have the ATT version, and I have it rooted. What im here asking is, where do I go from here? I want to try out some custom roms/themes, maybe some new kernels and such. Let me know, thank you.

Go to the Development section and read all of the threads that have to do with Loki, especially this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292157
Many of the threads have great tools to simplify things and they also list Tricks, tips, and ROMs that have been tried.
Make sure to read the OUDHS Recovery thread (CWM) and the TWRP threads.
When you are comfortable with all of that, here is a thread that was started about different ROMs that have been tried: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2295557
Like I said, there is a lot of good information about ROMs and Kernels in all of the before mentioned threads as well.
Good luck.
