I often see people talking about Chinese-brand smartphones here on this forum, only a few models, however. As a veteran reseller of Chinese phones, i want to make a conclusive topic by telling you what I know about the fashion in this field.
The most known Chinese smartphone brands are Lenovo, Huawei, ZTE, and Coolpad, in fact. They spend a lot of money advertising and distributing all over the world, and the cost, finally, are paid by consumers.
On the other hand, some local companies of small sizes don’t have solid capital base for promotion, depending on retailers to make their fame. It’s hard for such producers (or assembly plants) to control the prices, so retailers are able to compete by price wars.
It’s quite an issue how to choose trustworthy products among the unrecognized second-tier Chinese brands, of course. According to my customers’ feedback, ZOPO，THL，Jiayu，Haipai, UMI, and Jiake have gained user confidence with most of their models being reliable. Before purchasing a certain model, I used to visit forums for some information. One of hottest is a Russian site called 4pda, where there is a section devoted to Chinese brands. And what I mentioned above are welcomed there, too.
I don’t mean you should ignore all other China-made phones, after all, there are customer reviews to help you find something not bad.
Then I’ll make a list of Chinese second-tier cellphone models by specifications, mainly collected from this store http://www.tinydeal.com/brand-cell-phones-px1mvzd-c-54_678_995.html my principal supplier.:good:
1. Chipset
Taiwan IC designer MediaTek is almost the exclusive chipset provider of all Chinese cellphone producers, including Lenovo, Huawei and ZTE. Only a few models adopt Samsung or QUALCOMM to catch eyeballs.
In the dual-core era, MTK6577 was the most popular chipset, whose stable performance helped ZOPO, THL and Haipai gain their foothold. Thus the 4-core MTK6589 naturally became Chinese manufacturers’ first choice as a consequence.
MTK6589 represented MediaTek’s great efforts on graphics processing. Since then, Chinese phones started bringing outstanding visual experience to users as iPhone and Galaxy do. Another prominent feature is its compatibility with Miracast, a technology of screen-mirroring from cellphone to HDTV via WiFi.
Months ago, MTK6589t made its debut, still with 4 cores, just raising the processing frequency from 1.2Ghz to 1.5Ghz. And an 8-core 2Ghz chipset named MTK6892 is rumored to be launched at the yearend. Let’s wait!:victory:

High-end screens came from South Korea, mediocre ones from Taiwan, in the past. Now, South Korean imagination on display innovation seems exhausted, while Taiwan has caught up. As far as I know, only Jiayu G4 is equipped with 4GB RAM (Jiayu G4 has 1GB, 2GB and 4GB versions), but 2GB should have been enough for cellphones, taking Galaxy S4 and HTC One into consideration.

4. Camera
The resolution of back cameras on Chinese phones is 13MP at most, which needs the support of MTK6589 or MTK6589t. THL W11’s front camera reaches 13MP, too. Other front resolutions range from 3MP to 8MP.

Very happy with both...they make really good phones...they should improve on following
1. Faster reliable GPS
2. Quad or penta band wcdma and or 4g
3. Better camera quality ...13 mp is not really that great ...just increasing megapixels without better lenses doesn't help
Otherwise great for the price compared to 500 $ and above Samsung or iPhones
