Hello, I downloaded the official rom as described in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2300622 but I can't open it with any zip program in windows. Anyone has an alternate download link?
I've had a little experience with ZTE, but what I had wasn't good. Anyway, what is the particular reason you need to open the ROM on your phone itself?
If you want to install the ROM, you need to install custom recovery, and install (flash) via the recovery menu.
If you just want to open the .zip file for whatever reason, I recommend Zarchiver. It hasn't failed me yet.

Hi All, I am new to this forum and android world. I have a samsung galaxy wifi 5 android device running froyo 2.2.2. This is basically equivlent to IPod Touch (I guess). I am trying to make this device detect ad-hoc wireless connection so that i can connect this with my windows mobile phone. After some research I found that wpa_supplicant file needs to be modified. I have already found the patched and complied zip file here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=754961. I just need to know how do I flash this file in recovery. So far I have rooted my device, and installed ROM manager. Alos do I need any flash cards? Your help would be much appriciated. Thanks
Same boat here. Google hasn't seemed to help either.
How do you "flash" a zip file in Recovery?
Thanks
First you need ClockWorkMod and know how that phone's version works. Move the zip file that has the new ROM onto your sd card. Boot into ClockWorkMod. Then choose the zip file with ClockWorkMod.
yes google is your friends
but first insall recovery and after use it, choose the downloaded zip file and update your phone with it...
hey there, have some questions regarding Step 2 Recovery from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1583427
for some reason, it won't let me post as i have less than 10 posts.
so, going straight to the questions:
1) i downloaded SDK, now, do i have to install it? i actually installed it without knowing if i should or shouldn't and have no idea what to do with it.
2) was i supposed to extract the the Official CWM of koush? downloaded this one rather than Paul's interim but i didn't know what to do with it, so i just extracted into C:\fastboot
3) when he says "Place the CWM File where the fastboot.exe is (Downloaded with the SDK)" does he mean place the extracted bits with the installed SDK program into C:\fastboot? or does he mean leave the installer as is with the zip file as is in c:\fastboot? or a different combination altogether?
4) what is the name of the recovery in "fastboot flash recovery name_of_the_recovery.img"? i looked around and they said do recovery recovery, but that didn't work for me (couldn't find file error).
5) i have s4, is it wiser to go with the interim or official?
please feel free to ask if any of these questions are a bit confusing; tried my best to ask what i'm confused about. thanks for reading, and i'll greatly appreciate any help!

Use this proccess http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1604677 much easier and no need for sdk
I bought a TF101 used and found that it had been rooted. I used this guide to unroot it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1093403
It now has build number HRI66.US_epad-8.2.3.9-20110423
I cannot figure out how to update the firmware to the newest version. The system update says there is no update. I downloaded 9.2.1.27 from Asus's website and followed the instructions to manually update, ie. put zip file on MicroSD and put it into the tablet. When I put the card it, it sees the card, but doesn't do anything. If I try to open the file manually, it says "file open failed."
I just want it to run with stock software and be up to date. I have no clue what to do from here. Any help would be appreciated.

the way ASUS packages their ROMS is a zip within a zip. You need to unzip once put the nested zip file onto SD card, the TF101 should pickup on the ROM

Sorry, I should have specified that I did that. Still, nothing happens when I insert the card.
I'm not sure if they this may slove the problem, try the next chronology update. Either that or the file didn't download properly.
Worst case scenario, use easy flasher to flash the latest official firmware.

when I took mine back to stock a ways back i had to keep mine rooted and flash mine just like i was flashing a custom rom.
so u may have to root again and instal a custom recovery to flash the stock rom on.
flashing the stock rom will unroot and put it back to complete stock.
Hello,
My device is the Mate 9 (MHA-L29C185B110) and I seem to have a problem with the camera.
When pressing the button to take a photo, the camera app restarts itself. I try again, but didn't work, to no avail.
I also tried to record a video. It seems to work, but the camera freezes but it's still counting, otherwise recording.
I have just recently flashed a custom recovery img (TWRP), the boot img on another thread that prevents the device from being automatically encrypted, and SuperSU root.
Do any of you have a solution to this problem?
Would this be because I haven't flashed Public_data.zip and Full_HW_data.zip?
And will this problem fix if I completely install the MHA-L29C185B172's firmware?

It could be a problem if you flashed a boot image for a different model. You need boot image for C185B110. It should work without hw and Public zips, but a lot of other things break without flashing those. Updating to C185B172 will fix it.
By the way, which supersu did you use?
If the one from the "Decrypt" thread in Guides you don't need to flash a pre-decrypted boot image, the installer does it for you.

As for the SuperSU, I think I took it from the full root guide w/o decrypt img, but obviously I had to use a decrypt img because of stock
SUPERSU-2.79-MATE9-init.d_support
For the boot (No force encryption boot)
This is probably where things went wrong. I flashed the wrong build image.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/development/stock-boot-img-library-t3573312
I had to use above link because I couldn't flash SuperSU since I don't have an external sd to extract it from (Since you have to format your data before flashing it)
I couldn't find the hw and public zips for C185B110, so if you have it, a link would be generous.
Would flashing stock boot img for MHA-L29C185B110 fix it?
and what would happen if i flash stock boot.img?
and do you have a decrypt boot.img for C185B110?
Thanks!

It would probably fix it yes, but no boot image or hw/public exist for B110 so I'm guessing it shipped with that build.
You'd have to update, using https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/how-to/guide-mate-9-flash-update-package-t3593108
I don't think you can use Firmware Finder as you're probably missing the System Update feature.
Either that one I linked or FunkyHuawei, but Funky cost money to use.
Thanks,
I will try using the link you used.
although it is not clear.
On manual update step A, do you need to download all three?
the base, the OS(windows) and the model?
and where do i put these files?
and on b and c on update zip
do i have to download two update.zip?
for example, C185B110 and C185B172
do i also need to download full ota instead of just ota? fullota is incompatible, says firmware finder on mobile

Yes, download base, os and MHA. Extract all to the same folder. You should only have one folder named HWOTA and the files/folders in that. If it extracts to a folder with the same name as the zips, enter the folders and copy hwota folder then go back one folder and paste/merge so you end up with one folder named HWOTA. Easiest way is putting it directly in C:\hwota\, if your windows version allows it. Else place it on desktop. (long file paths or a path containing spaces might make hwota not function correctly).
You need to download all 3 files (fullota update.zip, hw zip and Public zip), easiest way is using firmware finder to download. Either mobile or the pc version. For pc go to the common base tab and search for your model and then download the build you want including public and HW zips.
You only need to download the fullota update, hw and Public zip of the build you're updating to. If you're on b110 and going to update to B172 you only need to download B172.
Rename the files according to the guide (update.zip, update_all_hw.zip and update_data_public.zip), place them in either hwota/update folder or make a HWOTA folder on your sdcard and put the renamed files there.
When running hwota, select script update folder or sdcard update folder depending on where you put the files. Select same model update.
One last question:
Does it have to be FULLOTA, not just OTA?

Hi, you need to unpack the ROM and note the "flash_all_except_data_storage.bat" file in it, then point Miflash to the folder with this file.
Yes you can install a ROM without Miflash. As you have TWRP already, just "install" a ROM zip from it. For example use this one https://xiaomi.eu/

With empty storage you have 3 options to install Android:
copy ROM zip to a flash drive, boot TWRP, attach an OTG adapter, connect the flash drive, click "install"
boot TWRP, connect it to a PC, note your phone's storage on PC's drive list, copy ROM zip, in TWRP click "install"
boot fastboot, follow this Miflash guide precisely
Well, there is also a 4th option, with ADB, to transfer ROM zip, but the above 3 are much simpler. Good luck, nothing can stop you now :highfive:
