[Q] how to restore the automatic backup of efs folder take by ROM - Samsung Galaxy SL i9003

hello everyone..
a couple of days earlier i had flashed a CM 10.1 JB rom for i9003
and everything was working well... kudos to developers.
but then the phone turned itself off automatically and when i rebooted it it showed me no network..
further checking in about phone i saw there was no imei and no baseband and no service obviously
further after a bit research on xda i found out somehow my efs folder got corrupted...
i have a backup of that folder on my pc.. this backup was of a month ago when phone was working fine..
and i tried the possible ways to replace the efs folder with root explorer etc.. nothing turned up.
i really need help regarding restoring that efs folder..
thank you.

Just flash back to stock rom in this sequence. first flash xxkpe (with .pit file) then ddlf2. Many times IMEI gets restore just by flashing stock rom.

Do this then u'll have 049 imei. Then go to dhiru's thread and flash the zip which deletes your efs and then flash the other one which brings your backup to efs folder then u'll be good to go

Nobody would do it including me cuz EFS Folder has the most important info for your phone which is imei and copying is an illegal action. You may try to find efs.rar from google

Having the same problem. Tried a lot of things including the above mentioned but no luck. It seems like motherboard replacement is the only solution.

Galaxy 3 -I lost my IMEI Number - Help!

Hi... I am from India. I was very happy with my I5801 till about a week ago, when it suddenly started only the samsung name. I looked up flashing the phone and flashed it with the original firmware DDJG6 from samfirmware.com. I found it very easy and thought, why not flash it with froyo... . I did that going for the I5800XXJPF firmware. I didn't find the one package tar file and so used the pda file as boot file. I could not find the imei after that, but my phone was working. I wanted the imei to be displayed and found that there was a way to do it. I was convinced that my efs was corrupted and clicked the efs button in the odin to flash the efs. After this, i thought my phone's imei number would be shown, it was not. I thought I should flash back to eclair DDJG6 and do it. I did that but found to my horror that IMEI now was 000000000000000.
Please walk me through getting back my IMEI number.

kuch solution mila? I am facing same problem.
AFAIK there's nothing you can do without your original efs folder. Did you perhaps make a back-up of it. If not then it's service center for you.

Lost IMEI while off over night?

Hi all! I quiet annoyed with all this (especially cause I am using my Defy instead)..
Two days ago before sleep I turned the mobile off (NS i9200), and when I woke up, turned on again.. For my surprise, no signal.. Rebooted, and nothing..
Since I upgraded from GB to ICS that has not happened, I was using Nexus Beam for about 2 weeks and all was fine..
And when I try to see my IMEI, shows up de generic one, 00499...
I have tried,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1398757
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1264021
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1264021
N nothing helped..
I also reverted to the stock ROM, locked and unlocked the bootloader (so in that way ALL date and partitions were going to be wiped), and rooted again..
And I have done the process also using ICS and GB 2.3.3..
Any ideas?
Many many thanks..
EDIT
I got a backup of EFS that I found in a folder "efs_autobackup", called by "efs-backup.tar.gz", that has been created Sat 24 Sep 2011..

I think you might need to replace the efs files, but also delete three files in that folder. Can't remember which ones, but it's in window7's radio thread in the development section.
For kernel benchmarks and more, see here: http://goo.gl/mpeHI

For those who have no baseband and null Imei on their i997...

Im not sure were to put this so called tutorial so mods feel free to move it to were it belongs if its not supposed to be here. I was having a big issue with my Samsung i997 thats was showing no baseband on settings, No imei null/null and of course didnt have any signal. I started a couple threads about things related to that. No luck, until a member called Truckerglenn pointed me to a efs .tar file he had made that fixed his phone.
So before i start, credit for the efs file goes to Truckerglenn i had nothing to do with that. Then, i want to make this clear, This worked on my i997, it doesnt mean it could work on other phones but for some reason i think it will. I messed up mine on purpose a couple times after i solve it just to see if it was a real solution or just luck. It worked every single time like a charm. With that said, i got to make clear i didnt have a copy of my original efs file. I have deleted the efs file a couple times also. So i think none of you could mess a phone worst than i did, and i still managed to bring it back to life using this method.... So lets talk about what i did:
First download Truckerglenns efs .tar file located here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1438113
In my case i used the infuse unbrick ODIN file so i dont know if it works with any other firmware or not.
Open the ODIN file located on the infuse unbrick files and click efs clear, yes i know it sounds very risky and people have made clear that is not recommended but hey, you cant mess up your phone worst than you already have so. Anyways, put the infuse ODIN files were they belong, pit, pda and phone. Then here comes the tricky part, i used the Truckerglenn file in the csc box to flash it with the unbrick files.
Click start and the phone will flash the stock Froyo for the i997, wait until the flashing ends. Then when the phone reboots into recovery before hitting reboot go to wipe data/factory reset and click it. Then you can hit reboot phone and if youre lucky enough you will have your signal, restored imei number and baseband version.
Like i said this worked for me and i cant asure you it will work for you. But after all those weeks i spent dealing with this without success and having deleted efs many times and messing the phone that much, i didnt have anything to lose. Also thank Truckerglenn for his efs if this work on your phone, after all im just giving you an idea on how i made it work on mine but i didnt create a file or anything i just flashed it the way i just told you. Good luck guys and keep up the good work!
this happens to me as well, but flashing an efs didn't help me. any other ideas?
Step by step??

So, I am having same problem as u were. One thing that I want to make sure is do i clear efs and then flash ?? or just click the box on the efs clear and put everything and flash it??
So here is first option - You check on the clear efs box and then click "start". After it's finished, put other files and click "start" button again.
Here is second option - You check on the clear efs box then put all files and click "start" button and done.
which one is correct way to do this process??

It's been a while now, but if I remember the Clear EFS box was checked, so go with option 2.
But hey, right now your phone is 'FUBAR'. Try different settings if one doesn't work, maybe another one will.:good:

Ok, my phone got fixed by AT&T. But it wasn't software problem. My radio chipset was burnt. I checked and when AT&T saw that, they just replaced my phone to new one. For free. Pretty happy now. Thanks for help tho
Thanks!
OMFG...I bricked my Infuse a while back and I thought all hope was lost. I have bought a Note since then but I wanted to sell it and wait for the Note2 while I could still get a pretty penny for it.
This worked like a champ.
I basically followed your instructions using the Unbrick package here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27286083#post27286083
I also checked the EFS clear checkbox. I didn't have to factory reset from recovery either. It just rebooted and I popped in my SIM and it worked!
So I haven't gotten to the stage where I do not have signal... but do plan on moving my infuse from 4.0.4 to 4.1.1. Through this process, it has been noted that you could lose efs. So before I tried to install the rom, I backed up my efs through root explorer. Within this app, all I did was copy my whole efs file and pasted it to my SD card. After this, should my efs be fully backed up? And if I were to install jb and WERE to lose signal, how would I go about restoring it? My efs is on my internal storage..
Thanks

@TokyoLee
It would be best if you informed us of the upgrade path you took.
Slim ROMs (I am assuming you are trying to flash a JB 4.2.2) are known to cause loss of IMEI if flashed directly from ICS. Best solution would be to flash a CM10 and then a CM10.1 before flashing SlimBean. I have followed this path and have had no problems although I have gone on to Rootbox 4.2.2.
scott.hart.bti's Unofficial CM10.1 post has instructions for the proper upgrade path, see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28842232&postcount=1
andros11's "[Guide] How to Flash Jellybean" here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1878458
is an essential and important read to avoid any IMEI snafus.
Also, and this important since almost every JB ROM thread mentions it at one point or another: REMOVE your external micro-SD card from the device before flashing a JB ROM.
Hope this helps.

You may have to start fresh from GB [or Froyo]. That would be the best recommendation.
qkster's posts are valuable in how to get back to GB. See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1524081

Unless you have your EFS backed up which you can flash via ODIN or Heimdall it is impossible to get tour IMEI back.
Best is to go all the way back to GB.
Called at&t Sim cards shot not the usual imei probs

Do not even think about doing such a silly thing. This is an Infuse specific efs. You cannot flash it to the I-9000 or I-9100, for example. The partitions are different on different Samsung phones, they are not necessarily interchangeable.
Unless there are clear instructions available, you could end up with a very expensive brick.

SAMSUNG GALAXY SL I9003 - A complete failure in restoring efs!

Hello!
My samsung galaxy sl i9003 had a problem with cellular network signal. After I've checked it's software baseband versions, I saw the following details:
PDA: I9003XXKPQ
PHONE: Unknown
CSC: I9003SERKPQ
IMEI: Blank.
I thought this could be a problem with the firmware or the corrupted efs folder. So I backed up the efs with root browser to sd card.
1)Then I've flashed with custom rom Jellybam 4.1.1 alpha.
I didn't replaced the efs folder to know the error is either with firmware or the efs folder itself. After flashing with Jellybam I had the same problem again.
2)Some of the members suggested to flash with stock ROM and check again. So I have flashed again with XXKPE, XXKPU and Finally with XXKPQ firmwares to fix the problem. But still I ended up with same problem.
Every time I did the above procedure I didn't replaced the efs folder with the backup.
3)So I've replaced the efs to check the problem again with each and every stock ROM i've flashed. Still I ended up with same problem.
4)So after a thorough studying I came to know that either my efs file is corrupt or it is missing the required files. So I've followed the procedures for restoring efs and IMEI explained by members and developers of XDA ( Method 1 Method 2 )
Still No use!! Same problem!
I guess my mobile is permanently locked!!!! :crying::crying:
Is there any other method to restore my mobile in working condition? Or is the samsung outlet's repair is the only way??

[Q] The phone has no IMEI

Hello guys,
I installed CM9 on my i9003 and it worked fine. But after some time, my brother installed a GB rom. From that point, the phone is not showing IMEI and I was not able to use it. efs was not backed up. I tried flashing with XXKPQ GB, expecting that the IMEI will restore but it is useless.
Is there any way to restore the IMEI. Please help me.

If you IMEI not backuped I think you totaly lost it. Only one think you can do: try to ask somebody give you him EFS backup and put it to you phone and you're get another IMEI.
Warring: look out for backup are maked not at the same contry as you located!
Also remember: this things (changing IMEI) are not legal.

But if I true undestend: we can restore to phone backup from another phone? And this things just change IMEI.
check dhiru1602 thread about efs backup and restore, you will find how to get fake imei (0049XXXXXXXXXXX) this is better than nothing.
Some users reported that they couldn't give the phone another phone's imei.

There should be a backup of the EFS on your external sd card, this backup is always made when flashing CM. Check your external and internal sd for a folder called backup, efs, or something like that.
/sdcard/backup/efs here is where your efs backup should be, if you are lucky you will find it there.

I heard that restoring someone IMEI backup is risky (and illegal) so be careful.
Having fake IMEI si like having a real IMEI so check dhiru1602 thread to know how to get fake IMEI on your phone.
