[Q] Cyanogenmod 10.2 does not allow custom buttons? - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can anyone else get custom buttons to work in CyanogenMod 10.2? I cant seem to make my tablet "recent apps" button turn into the sub menu button (Open/close menu).

I am using a cyanogenmod 10.2 nightly rom. Went to Settings->Device->Buttons . Put a check mark in the "Allow custom buttons" box. Then I set "Long press action" to Open/close menu. So now I can just long press on the center/Home button on my HTC One X to bring up sub menu. Needed this to access settings menu for pinger free text app.
The Buttons setting allows you to display the sub menu in other ways such as double tapping the Home button. Hope this helps.

[Q] Remap "Recent Apps" to "menu" button

I have just upgraded to a Motorola RAZR HD from a phone that had physical (capacitive) "back", "home" and "menu" buttons.
I find the fact that in some instances there is no "menu" button when one could be used irritating. ie, when on the home screen, pressing the "menu" button would bring up a menu with settings etc, but with the RAZR HD there in no "menu" button displayed in that instance.
Is there any way to replace the "recent apps" button, or better yet, add a persistent "menu" button to the onscreen button panel?
I'm aware that on the HTC One V, there was a half functional way of doing this, see
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26202073#post26202073
Is there a work around (or a menu setting) that would accomplish this?
If you switch to Cyanogenmod you can assign a long press of one of the buttons to work as a menu button.

Swap recents and menu?

Hello everyone. I have searched and read and can't find either of these options. So if I've missed something my apologies in advance.
I know the phone has the option in settings under display to use a long press of the recents button to select menu. Does anyone know of a way to swap that? IE tap for menu and long press for recents?

in for this too... cant get used to only 3 hw keys... since recents only has a tap function, im wondering how to map the longpress or double tap to open the MENU for an app.
Settings> Display. Check "Use Long Press for Menu".

I don't think, at the moment, we will have that option. I also hate long-press for menu since I never now how long to press it until it registers as "Menu". It would be nice for the menu to just pop up when as you are holding down the Recent Apps button, kind of like how holding down Home will show the "slide up for Google Now" ring.

Long press is something longer than a simple tap. If you enable long press as Shalal explained in another post, you can just hold the recent button for a moment & the menu pops up. Nothing particularly dramatic about it.

Well I'm just saying that I would like the Action Overflow options (if applicable) to automatically display when the button has been held down long enough, rather than requiring you to lift your finger.
Still, it would be preferable to have HTC's implementation, since, as it is, it's faster to just tap the Action Overflow button than to long-press.

[Q] Nav bar menu button p5110

I seem to be having problems getting a menu button to work in the soft keys (nav bar) on custom roms on my P5110. I have tried CM10.1, CM10.2 and now currently on SlimBean 4.3.
When I enable the menu button in the nav bar, it appears but it never works. I cannot access the menu at all, the button is dead! All the other buttons on the nav bar appear to work.
Frustrating as having a menu button in my navbar is very important for me.
Anyone else had this issue?
Thanks.

no buddy never had such issue but i can say that region of screen is not working i which menu button is situated
take it to customer care center
they may do something for sure that might help you
I can't take it back, being rooted and all that.
I have no idea why when I go into nav bar settings in a custom rom such CM, I change the "recents" button to "menu" but it just doesn't work.

Navbar function customize for CM11

Is there an app that can be used for CM11 that will give me the kind of customizing ability as GravityBox for the navbar? I used to set double tap home button to turn off screen and hold home button to bring up power menu, etc. I do miss these options. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

Change Capacative Buttons

Is there any way to change the capacative touch buttons, without rooting, especially the "menu button".
On my S4, the menu button did exactly that, open up a menu where one was available. And holding the home button would display open apps.
Whereas now holding the home button opens Google Now (I have the Now Launcher) and the menu button shows the recent apps.
This happens regardless if TouchWiz or Now launchers are used.

Yes. Download All in One Gestures here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.phoenixstudios.aiogestures
Go to the Hard Keys tab and customize them as you'd like. Tap the Plus button at the bottom to add the Recents key so you can customize it too.

So I'm able to get the home button to work as I want.
Just the "recent apps" button is still not giving me a menu button, as there is no option to do so in All in one Gestures :/

Sorry, but I wasn't clear. Did you try to long-press the recent button? On the S5 that opens menus...

On S6 long press recent button gives you split screen (multi-window) selections!

Well that's silly. I never use split screen, but everyone uses menus... O-well. Thanks!
