My ATRIX 2 is not able to register on airtel network. I used a number of different aim of airtel. But pro elm is remain same. I was on mini rom when problem start. After that flash gb 2.3.6. And ics retail asia. But problem is remain same in both the roms.

Is the phone registering with other network sims???
and are you on the stock ROM or are you using a custom one coz u said you were using miui ???
a little more details on the problem would be helpful ..............

It makes no sense that only airtel wouldn't work with your phone but other networks will..........
Did you maybe try to change the sim or goto the service center because as your saying its not the same problem

but the problem is same with all airtel sim

maybe some problem with the base band settings.....but it can't be bcoz other sims are working fine

Developer settings
Try this
Open dialer> type *#*#4636#*#*
wait 2-5 seconds, special menu opens. In phone settings press menu key & select auto registration. Additionally for band select WCDMA preferred if you want phone to bounce between Edge & 3G in case you have opted for 3G plan. 3G uses more battery and if you necessarily need 3G all the time select WCDMA only or if you need only Edge select GSM only.
This overrides your regular settings as available in normal menu setting irrespective of whatever is selected. As much as I hate it but the truth is Atrix 2 not the AT&T version definitely has poor network radio reception. Also if your area bounces you between Roaming (local) which is not charged as roaming by Airtel and normal home network it gets worse. I have to stick to a certain room or position which I have identified will not drop my call else I got people always complaining & me fed up as well that call reception is sketchy. It isnt so bad in open area but I really wish someone would really work on India specific Radio image improvement tweaks. Then there is this really annoying problem of Data disconnecting when network goes in to roaming (when on home network but due to a certain tower) though data roaming is activated for roaming. Have to re-enable it a zillion times. This is on JB 4.1.2 leak 1. I tried droid FROAM app by a user who developed it for droid but no dice. On custom PA RC-2 this roam issue data disconnect is solved though but then radio remains weak and also status bar shows no signal bar but when quick settings tiles are pulled down the network tile shows the true reception being received. Another issue in PA is though that in normal menu only 3G option I cannot find and I can enable it only through the developer secret menu

Its not a problem with your cell phone from what i can see bcoz all the SIM's and carriers in India use the same band settings so its something
to do with your airtel specific settings that are not working.........Have you tried to goto the airtel shop....show them??
And btw have you tried changing the band settings from the special menu
*#*#4636#*#* dial this and see goto phone info change preferred network to gsm.

I got my phone back frm motorola center.
They said that there is requirement of change the motherboard. Of phone for the proper functioning of phone.but the phone is too old. Thats why motherboard is not available.
I tried the developer option *#*#4636#*#*. But problem not solved

Hello all I'm new to the rooting and custom ROM community but I'm sure i have the hang of it by now...but my problem is that i am using CM7-RC1 and before this i used CM7 NIGHTLY # 60 and with both i have not been able to use or see a 4g network
As of right now all i have is 1x or E
i have searched the forums and have seen that there are some APN issues but, i have not found any solutions to my problem...
any input would be appreciated.

You dont ever see H? H is the symbol for HSPA+ or 4G which is basically the same (according to t-mobile). If you never see an H then that is odd. Was it a fresh install and did you do a full wipe of your last rom before flashing?
it's no "4G" icon....but it's 4G speed when you see "H"

if your seeing 1X thats cdma lol probably simple, i had this problem, do this go to settings, then wireless networks, then mobile network, and then access point names and make sure u see it on tmobile not simple, if it is on simple tap on the dot next to tmobile. then after that back out go to phone hit *#*#4636#*#*, then u will see a menu, go to phone information and scroll down , make sure it is on wcdma preferred.... let me know how u make out buddy
When i installed this ROM i went through ROM manager and cleared cache, delvik cache, wiped data, and back up...so from my knowlege it was a clean install.
I also dont ever see 3g or H or H+ sadly, i want this problem fixed

my bad for the double post but, i have done all the steps here and even tried rebooting the phone and i still get 1x.
Just in case you are wondering before, with the original ROM, i did have 4g signal

hmmm, do u have an older style simcard? in another words did u take it out of ....lets say a g1 and stick it in the g2x? or did it come with g2x new? cuz older sim cards are having problems with newer phones u would have to grab a new one from tmobile they would give u one for free if that was the case .....also did u skip the sign in process? (google acct) cuz for some reason u cant do that u have to sign in rite away... ok try this first hard reboot, hold vol up and power until it reboots and see what happens if a nogo then also try one more thing go back to settings , wireless networks, mobile networks, then network operators and hit search network like 5 times it might give u an error let it say it then try again then go back to access points and click on tmobile not the dot part on the actual word tmobile and then u should see the list hit your menu and see if theres a reset apn try that then save, also minor thing to try go into ur browser go to setting and delete cache , history, cookies, and form data.

i got this sim card right out of the box "New" i also have tried resetting APNs and things but how would i go about restarting to see if google accounts is the problem? Factory reset?

well first back all your apps up with titanium backup then do the factory reset honestly i would reinstall the rom then log rite in bro

What I mean is that these are GSM phones, not CDMA (Sprint and Verizon). Is it possible you're roaming on another network, not T-Mobile? Maybe you don't even have 4G signal where you are.
Open your dialpad and dial *#*#4636#*#* then go to phone information. When your phone displays 1x what does it say is your current network, and then look down several lines and what does it say is the network type?
Anyone know does this phone support GSM1x??? It's a technology to allow roaming between GSM and CDMA networks.
Well under network type it says unknown although i am :
Network: T-Mobile
Roaming: Not Roaming
GSM Service: In Service
GPRS: Connected
Network Type: Unknown
I am also under WCDMA only

Googling my fingers off here lol. The only references I can find to 1x have to do with CDMA networks (Sprint and Verizon which the G2X is not compatible with) and GSM1x which seems to have been experimented with about a decade ago as a possible evolution for GSM providers to utilize CDMA technologies or something like that.
Nowadays GSM carriers here (AT&T and T-Mobile) use UMTS/WCDMA for their 3G data whereas Verizon and Sprint use CDMA2000 (which includes CDMA 1x). The 2 technologies are not compatible but GSM1x was designed to be some sort of a bridge between GSM and CDMA2000.
Have you ever had 3G/4G access thru T-Mobile where you live?

I haven't been able to find a fix either, it might be my sim, slight chance cause i had it in mytouch 3g slide brand new and just switched over to the g2x
my phone will drop connection and then not reconnect. no voice, no data. (wifi still works)
what I've tried:
1. Different radios/firmware
2. different roms
3. different preferred network types
4. switching airplane mode on and off
what I haven't tried:
1. different sim
2. calling tmobile for suggestions
What else could cause this problem?

I am facing issues such as call drop and no 3G data connection in some area in my region since I have 5 signal bar and H letter displayed (HSDPA connection)...
I have found a workaround consisting in:
1 - Switching to GSM Only mode (2G Only)
2 - Desabling Mobile Data Connection
Then it works, I can pass and receive voice call ...

Followed the stickies in the Dev section to S-OFF, root and bypass SIM lock and then once the SIM card is inserted I get only GSM and no data.
If you use *#*#4636#*#* in the Dialer and go to Phone Information do you notice that it always switches to WCDMA preferred? I change to GSM/CDMA auto PRL like all my other Android devices (on Rogers Wireless) and it disconnects, reconnects but only for GSM and no data. It sometimes says it's connected to EDGE or HSPA but no icon at the top right and then it reverts back to GSM.
I have also tried flashing virtually every firmware, ensuring that the radio and RILs match (I had an HTC Desire Z so the HTC phones are not new to me entirely). I don't know what else to do. I tried a Bell SIM card and tried all of the same options to no avail.
I really hope someone can figure this out. I don't want to have destroyed a phone that I just bought for my wife. Her Atrix broke and I purchased that outright as well, so this is really killing my wallet. I've been through about 10 Android devices and I wouldn't say I'm a newb, but I really do feel like one right now. This sucks!
Get a new sim from tmo if it's over 2 phones old.

I've tried 5 different SIMs now. It's not a SIM issue. The other poster has a different issue but mine's identical to the OP's.

I did try every setting in there. The new sim card fixed it! So I guess our problems are different.
i m on titanium 2.1 and sensation theme..
few hrs back my network got lost no calls no messeges,no internet...
tried everything ,no luck
phones IMEI is intact..
so i reflashed titanium rom again but still no luck !!
then i flashed indian stock version ,still no luck !!
tried to manully select network but no luck...
(everything works fine in wcdma mode,but there is a signal problm in my place so i need to go with 2g mode)
will go to service centre tomorrow
ny help??

I faced the exact same issue 4 days back on Friday. Even i flashed Titanium and then stock ROM to no avail. But then after a couple of hours, it connected to the n/w automatically. I still dunno what was the issue, probably something to do with the service provider? Did u try a different providers SIM?

It could be a network problem. Check with other network providers and also flash stock ROM back to see if it still persists.

By the time I could get hold of another SIM, the network came back. And the factory reset happened unintentionally I read about a code to reset the phone and dialed it and it flashed USB as well!! So i went ahead and flashed stock FW, Titanium, GLX-R, Lidroid Roms one by one... But still "Mobile network not available".
Finally after a couple of hours it connected on its own. I have a strong feeling that its something to do with the network like cooleagle said. Try out a diff SIM and let us know. Gud luck

actually vodafone is better...
btw u can try idea its giving 3g internet in 2g pack ,for 149 rs ull get 2gb of data...
some of my frns r using it...

Idea plans are good but u hardly get signal dude.. especially in my office... In fact they offer 6GB of 2g usage for just Rs. 95.. (vodafone offers 1GB for 95 ).. But whats the point when there is no network??

Same prob here and also in south india airtel network down. Give a try to docomo they provide cheap but best service. I m happy with their data packages none other carrier is providing 5 gb data @800 rs (7.2 mbps band).

yes i want to go with airtel 3g but i m not able to select 3g because of less network of airtel 3g ...
and yes this is priblm in airtel...
but its only in my region...

Question for all people running Droids (Mini) on GSM networks. How is your reception? I have my Droid on my desk and the phone is saying 50% signal strength. My nokia next to it, on the same carrier is 100%. In my garage my nokia has a signal, my droid hasn't.
settings says UMTS = -90 dBm
Is this normal?

Europe... When I turn data ON, then the settings says GSM signal about 80%, but notice the icon on top right corner is still small. Screenshot attached.
Very sad about this. I am living in the middle of the capital city, all phones I have ever had had 100% signal here.
I´m having the same issue with my droid maxx in Sweden
My mini is suffering the same deal, one bar almost all the time here in Sacramento with aio.
Thanks a lot for your feedback. I have investigated a bit and found this. It was confusing for me that UMTS and GSM was switching during data access so try this:
settings > more > mobile networks > network mode - here I had GLOBAL, but I changed to LTE/GSM/UMTS. If you do that, new options will be available in mobile networks menu. Here:
select network > GSM only
Huray, 100% signal strength!
I have no deep knowledge of this, but it seems that the phone is by default in UMTS mode when it has crappy reception. This could be because of the design of the phone, or because this is a new technology and the carriers network sux in UMTS. My nokia has no UMTS capability and is in GSM mode, so thats probably the reason why it was OK and Droid was KO.
Only problem with this is that you will probably have slower data connection. But you can experiment with this and switch to UMTS any time.
It would be great if somebody with deeper knowledge of this participate. Who knows what the android icon shows and how the switching is done.

I have just inserted a nano SIM on my Droid Maxx and guess what.
The network is seen, but registration does not get through.
So, I tried another nano SIM (from another provider). The data works fine, but calls cannot be made.
So, is the Verizon phone locked to the carrier?
I am trying to use the phone outside India and the carrier bands is not an issue.
I see two local carriers right now, but the registration process takes forever and does not complete.
Any ideas?
it shouldn't be locked. Have you checked the settings I wrote about? I don't know what type of network you have in India. Or check your provider's bands, what type of network it has and check with your phone settings.

Well, I have looked at those settings. If I switch to anything other than Global mode, after a few seconds, I get a message that there is no network found or something like that. It prompts me to switch back to Global mode. Even if I cancel that and try selecting GSM or UMTS, there is no real difference. I don't see any network. With my earlier cut SIM, at least I was able to see the network.
My cut SIM is now with an adapter inside my normal phone where it works flawlessly. So there is nothing wrong with the nano SIM as well.
OK so I take back that my nokia hasn't 3G. It has and the signal is full. So it is the DROID!
I tried modifying build.prop with no results. Also entered the testmenu and the signal strength here is the same as in settings menu.
I am frustrated.
Try: fastboot oem config carrier <carrier name>, you can use <tmo>, I write my carrier name <megafon>, 3G -57 -65 -71db now...

I have problem with cell reception and cell strength icon at Gummy rom, developer advise me this.
In fastboot mode write this: fastboot oem config carrier tmo, check Google, this is standard command. tmo-GSM/WCDMA, Verizon-CDMA operator.

can you be a little more specific... you had the same problem and just after this command your 3G signal is better?

fastboot oem config carrier vodafone and fastboot oem config carrier tmo and sadly no change, still 1-3 signal bars at max

I dont think so, he had just a different problem probably. I checked his original post and he had no signal at all due to custom rom.
i bought a lenovo a850 wifi ,calls and messaging work but can't get the internet to work ., i have straight talk -att i've tried several staright talk apn settings but no such luck . i just see a G next to the wifi signal . can you please help ?

the G is not for your 3G signal... pull the status bar down and click on the "Data conection" button to enable 3g internet... the 3g signal will appear small above the signal.

Contact your carrier and ask for the correct apn settings.Perhaps you have entered something wrong.
Which ROM are you currently using?
My sister had this problem before. She just put sim card on wrong slot. Did u already solve this problem? Im just try to help some.
